Wagyu Pastrami
Yun-Ju H.

I order the wagu pastrami. I think maybe I misunderstood the culinary style so I totally missed the beauty nature of wagu itself while I choose pastrami. To be fair, the food is tasty. It is gonna be hit for a meat lover. However, I cannot feel this sandwhich worth $24. Maybe the best way to enjoy wagu is save this $24 and buy the wagu shabu shabu in Japanese supermarket and cook by myself, if I really want to enjoy the wagu.

This spot was recommended by my colleague. Since I mentioned loving The Hat pastrami. I got the smoke pastrami. Came with a drink and chips, for $25. Asked for pickles on the side. Which I'm glad I did, it definitely needed them. Too bad yellow peppers didn't come included. I needed that extra kick. The meat is fresh. The bread is very tasty but I guess I was expecting more. I'll try their other pastrami next time. See if that one hits the spot. Loved the ambiance, very lively. Location is clean. Different sides, spices, seasonings and salsas sold here. Everything looked delicious.

Been meaning to try the one in Costa Mesa but was nearby so tried this location instead. Just keep in mind the one here has a significantly smaller menu and does not do the $10 special everyone is talking about! Tried the Wagyu pastrami sandwich on recommendation from the worker there, and it definitely did not disappoint. The flavors were so well balanced and there was a lot of pastrami on it--it is not the type of pastrami that gets really oily and is cut into smaller strips; it's more of a deli meat pastrami type. Honestly, I couldn't tell it was anything special from being Wagyu, but everything else on the sandwich and the crunch rye bread was very much perfect. The balance of flavors was great. The only thing that might take you aback is the price--$22; it does come with a can of soda and chips, but it's not like the sandwich was incredibly huge. That being said, the sandwich alone made me pretty full! For a sandwich arranged at essentially a deli counter, it tasted much more gourmet than that. I picked up a couple Wagyu burger patties as well to cook another time, we'll see how those turn out. But overall, the food here definitely made me want to try the Costa Mesa location! If price is not too big of a deal to you then definitely stop by. If you like pastrami sandwiches you'll like this place. The prices on the raw Wagyu meat, like others have said, aren't super cheap, but it's convenient that it's here. Inside has a nice deli vibe to it, just keep in mind there's only a few outside small tables there, so if it's busy you might not be able to sit. You won't want to eat the sandwich in your car--it gets a bit messy!

My second time coming here (i'm editing this because i made a review for the costa mesa location). this time i got the pastrami wagyu sandwich. The only difference between this and the grilled cheese i got at the other location was only one kind of cheese and no carmelized fig jam. I honestly prefer the grilled cheese just because there's three different cheeses but this was still delicious.

This place is a wagyu lover's dream. They sell Wagyu by the pound! The atmosphere is fun, where the employees sing and dance, and you can tell they love their job. The Wagyu pastrami sandwich was delicious, the meat was so tender and unlike other pastrami sandwiches, it wasn't overwhelmingly salty. It was super delicious. The only reason why I'm giving it a 4 star is because of the price point. It's pretty pricey, $23 for a sandwich, although it included chips and a drink. Otherwise it was great!

I enjoyed the house sandwich! The wagyu and the steak sandwiches were good options too. The sandwiches are pricy but it comes with chips and a soda. Service was good.

In elite Wagyu sandwich honestly wish they had better chip options. Their service was very attentive small little shop. I will definitely try their sandwich again more pickles, please!

Finally had the chance to try this place out after seeing videos of their burgers in the Costa Mesa location. The Brea location is a small cozy deli like spot selling expensive cuts of Wagyu and premium marinated meats. This location did not offer the burgers but had the entire sandwich menu. With the help of the friendly staff members I ordered: the Smoked and Wagyu Pastrami Sandwiches and the Hot and Cold Trio Wagucci Submarine. Each of these sandwiches were expertly constructed in front of you and served with a complementary side of chip and soda. You can tell that these people put their time and attention into making these. When I say these are some of the best sandwiches I ever had, I mean it whole heartedly. I highly recommend getting the Wagyu pastrami smoked or by itself on a marble rye bread over the Trio hot / cold subs on a roll. The meats they use in these sandwiches are incredible and worked perfectly with each component of the sandwich. I highly recommend anyone looking for a new sandwich spot to give this spot a shot. Will definitely be back to try the other items!

Your boy had the best pastrami sandwich of his life. This sandwich was so satisfying , with the crispiness of the rye bread, to the understated sauce, and most, especially the guest of honor, the Wagyu pastrami: phenomenal. Make sure you get the smoked wagyu pastrami. Smoked Wagyu pastrami sandwich, 10/ 10 With taxes and everything , with one drink and a bag of chips ( get voodoo heat - tangy salt & vinger with a kick) everything came out to $26.

Sandwich shop, butcher shop/carniceria, purveyor of high end goods - this place is located in a strip mall off a busy street in Brea. An 'if you blink, you might miss it' type of place. Inside, it feels like a mom/ pop, family owned/operated type spot. It's clean and the folks here are friendly and helpful. The place is not large, but it has lots of quality, high end meats and a great selection relative to the size. If you want wagyu tomahawks, sausages, and even high quality burgers, etc,, they have all that here. I can't remember when or why exactly it was on my list/radar, but I think it had to be because of the sandwiches. There was a week where I had to go back and forth from City of Industry and Anaheim, so I thought it was a perfect chance to check this place out. I ordered the smoked wagyu pastrami, which is served on a toasted marbled rye bread with swiss cheese, mayo, and some pepperoncini. Not cheap, but didn't feel super expensive when thinking about what you got. It also comes with chips and a drink. This was an excellent sandwich. Great flavors and textures. Nice crunch with each bite. I would just note, however, that the meat was sliced thin side and it was layered vs. the thicker cut Jewish style deli pastrami. There are also other items for sale like salsas and tortillas. Just a really cool spot with great food and great people. I'm a big fan.

The new owner doesn't seem to care about quality and it tastes like it. The meat tasted old. There's no better way to describe it. $30 lunch for a few pork ribs and some fatty old tasting brisket ends. Not to mention they totally forgot to bring me the ribs until I reminded them. The meat had a bad taste to it, like it had gone bad or was past the point of passable but they served it anyways, maybe hoping the taste would be buried with enough bbq sauce. Well, that couldn't even cover up the bad flavor. I did ask clearly for no sour cream on my potato, which he acknowledged... and yet it came with sour cream on top. Did I complain? No. I just dealt with it as I realized it was going to be my last time there. I really didn't want to leave this review but in case the owner reads this, here is your advice. Do better. Care about the quality of your product and you will get customers. Perhaps that is why I was served old tasting meat because your turn around is not so good. Either you're going out of business and I'm going to hear about it soon, or you're going out of business and just don't realize it yet.

The lunch price is hard to beat, what a value for $30 per person. The quality of the meat is top notch for the price. That's why they emphasize its Premium AYCE. It was 95°F outside, and the dining room at Mr BBQ was unbearably hot. There was a sign in the waiting area mentioning the AC issue, but the waiting area was significantly cooler than the actual dining room, making it difficult to judge from the entrance just how uncomfortable it would be once seated. We were told the AC was running but that the ventilation from the grills was making the dining room hot. Regardless of the cause, we spent the entire meal sweating and feeling sick from the heat. When we finally walked outside, the 95°F outdoor air actually felt cooler than the dining room. They provided handheld fans, which was a nice gesture in theory, but the fans were visibly filthy and covered in food splatters. The bathrooms were also extremely dirty, with a sign mentioning plumbing issues. Plumbing problems don't excuse poor cleanliness. I understand that equipment issues happen, but this felt like a situation where the restaurant chose to keep operating rather than prioritize the comfort and cleanliness of its guests. For a restaurant charging what it does, that's disappointing. I will not be returning.
