I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing from start to finish. I gave Reunion Kitchen 1 star across the board because the atmosphere, service, and food all fell well below expectations. The service was by far the worst part. We sat for over **20 minutes** without anyone coming to our table--not even to offer water. I eventually had to get up and ask someone to send a server over. What made it even more frustrating was watching other parties who arrived **15-20 minutes after us** receive water immediately and have their orders taken before anyone even acknowledged our table. After finally waiting another 10 minutes to receive our water, we had to track down our server again just to place our food order because no one returned to check on us. By that point, we had been sitting long enough and were more than ready to order. To make matters worse, we ordered an appetizer of coconut shrimp about five minutes after placing our entrée order, but it never arrived. After we had already finished our meals, we asked to cancel it, only to be told that our server had never entered the order in the first place. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the poor service. It lacked flavor and was very underwhelming. This experience was frustrating enough that I cannot recommend Reunion Kitchen. I initially wanted to believe this was simply an off day or an inexperienced server, but after hearing from two other people I know who described nearly identical experiences, it seems this may be a recurring issue. One thing that left me especially uncomfortable was seeing guests who arrived well after us receive prompt attention while our table was repeatedly overlooked. I can't say why that happened, but it certainly made us question whether we were being treated differently. I sincerely hope the restaurant looks into its service standards and ensures every guest is treated with the same level of respect and attention. read more

The server and ambience were decent, nothing to rave home about. Their blinds inadequately block sunlight, so if you're sitting in the direction facing the windows before night time.... let's just say I would never go back unless it was for a late dinner. This place reminds me of a BJ's that tries to be a little better. Anyhow... I got the short rib beef stroganoff. Beef Stroganoff is never a dry dish... but this one was, as so was the short rib. Kind of disappointing. The only reason I didn't give this place 2 stars is because my friend likes this place and recommended we eat here. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish? Good luck. read more

Food is pretty good, but maybe the execution was off on this visit. 4/5 Cobb salad has too much sweet bbq sauce. It made the whole salad almost taste like a dessert. Also, if you are expecting to get egg yolks in your egg, you'll be disappointed. Ambiance - nice, classy atmosphere Service - very good service, our server checked in on us frequently to refill our coffee and water. When I ordered my leftover tuna melt sandwich to go, I was impressed that the server labeled the box and dated it. This little detail showed the server cares for its customers. Food - came here for brunch to celebrate a friend's birthday. I ordered a tuna melt sandwich, my hubby ordered a short rib benedict; other people in our party ordered chilaquiles, omelet and burger. The burger was very large that two people were able to share it. Everyone seemed to be satisfied with their food except my hubby and I. The tuna in my sandwich was super salty, I could barely eat it. Still, I asked to take my leftover home so I can remedy it by adding pickles or something sweet to temper the saltiness. My hubby said his short rib benedict was meh, nothing to write home about. I didn't want to ruin my friend's birthday by making a fuss about our orders. I am just quite surprised how anyone can screw up a tuna sandwich. By the way, this was not the only place this has happened. It is my favorite sandwich and unfortunately, I have been let down many times - Superba (too dry), Goat and Vine (too salty) and now here. They should try this sandwich at Cafe R&D in Newport Beach or even Corner Bakery where they make it well. So disappointing and sad! read more

I originally wanted to order the Dad's Ribeye, but the menu only listed it as "MP" instead of showing an actual price. That's always been a pet peeve of mine. I understand using market price for certain seafood, but it feels a little odd for a steak. Our server told us it was $65, which seemed pretty steep for a restaurant that isn't primarily known as a steakhouse. For a dish at that price point, I was hoping for a better description. I asked how it was prepared and what the flavor profile was, but the explanation was pretty vague. The server was just like "just a regular steak." What!? That doesn't give me the confidence to order a $65 steak. Instead, I got the Flat Iron Steak. It was okay, not really what I was looking for. I tend to prefer fattier, more tender cuts like ribeye, and this steak was a bit firmer and drier than I'd hoped. The accompanying sauce helped, but it wasn't enough. We also tried the Seafood Cioppino, which was decent, though it had more broth than seafood. I would've preferred a heartier portion of seafood and a little less liquid. Overall, it was an okay lunch. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out enough to make me want to order the same dishes again. read more

Went on a double date; our friend picked it since it was right next to the Brea Improv (which we went to a show afterwards). Never even heard of this place before but it was REALLY good, we really enjoyed it a lot. The cocktails were great as was all of the food we got. Started out with a soft baked pretzel. It was salty, buttery and tasty. I got the pulled pork sandwich which was delicious as were the shoe string fries. I got a side of ranch to dip them in and that was scrumptious (some places don't have good ranch, this place wasn't one of them). My husband got one of the specials that day; a steak that came with asparagus and risotto. He enjoyed it and said the steak was cooked perfectly. But let me make a suggestion: ask how much the special is because they don't tell you and you will have sticker shock when the bill comes because.... WHOA. It was (nearly) $70 dollars for that plate. SEVENTY DOLLARS. What?! Our friends got brisket sliders, fries and wings. They liked all of it. We also tried their wings, which were good. read more

Came here over the past weekend to hang out with a friend and just enjoy some games on the TV. I arrived right before the brunch menu ended and was glad to have gotten a bloody mary in. Came today for my 55th birthday, with my friends that I have known since kindergarten! Friends for 50 years! I forgot to take pictures of our food. But it was all amazing! My beef dip just melted, and the blue cheese slaw was spot on! Sebastian was our waiter, and if I can request him in the future, I would! We came here for an early Father's Day celebration and the food was very tasty and the portions were large. I had the BBQ Cobb salad and it had a good amount of chicken. The stroganoff was flavorful and we took some home for both items. The server was attentive and patient as my parents can be a bit more demanding during meals. I've been to reunion in Anaheim hills so I am familiar with the concept and their food and just like the Anaheim hills location, Brea hit the mark with flavorful food and great ambience! I enjoyed everything except for the Thai chicken noodle salad. I was hoping for an Asian flavor but the avocado threw me off. Also, the entire salad was julienned except for the big chunks of jicama. I also think the noodles is too thin and would have liked spaghetti noodles instead. One other thing that would have given this Review a better score would have been getting our Asian ribs brought out as an appetizer as we had ordered it. We hadn't been here in a while and decided to come back and try something new on their menu. Of course we brought our own wine for the free corkage. That is one of their best perks. The staff was friendly as usual, and we got sat pretty quick as we came in for a late lunch. On this visit, I decided to try their tuna melt sandwich and my boyfriend decided to have a hamburger. His hamburger was huge and he enjoyed every bite of it. My tuna melt was delicious and also a generous portion. There are many food options in the area and this is one that is worth a stop. Visited Reunion Kitchen + Drink on Mother's Day during off-peak late afternoon/early evening hours and had a really great experience overall. Even with how busy they were, we were seated within about 15-20 minutes, which was impressive for a holiday crowd. The service was very good considering the volume of guests, and the food was delicious. We ordered the fried chicken, a pasta dish, and a burger -- everything was amazing and everyone really enjoyed their meal. The only small downside was the cost of the burger add-ons. Once everything was added, it ended up being about a $35 burger, which felt a bit pricey. That said, my son loved it, so it was still worth it. The music selection and atmosphere were wonderful and gave the restaurant a fun, energetic vibe. It was a little noisy at times, but understandable given how busy it was, and it didn't bother us much. I'd definitely love to come back during a less busy time to enjoy it a little more relaxed. I've given a 5 star review before for Reunion, but wanted to leave another one because our party of 7 were so pleased with the food, service and atmosphere at lunch today. We were celebrating a friend's birthday, and our waitress, Avery, as well as other Reunion staff were so pleasant and accommodating. They helped me decorate our table a bit, stored our cake in the refrigerator while we had lunch, helped serve it, and took photos for us. Everyone in our party loved what they ordered, were made to feel really welcome, and not rushed in the least. Avery even packed all of our leftover food for us in labeled take away boxes - amazing service, all given with genuine kindness and warmth. And kudos to the management for hiring and training such great people! read more

Came here on a busy friday night thankfully someone in my group had made the wise decision to call ahead to make a reservation! We were seated promptly! Loved the vibe inside a nice modern interior with clean appearance. We orders drinks, the mai tai was amazing definitely a strong drink and we tried a few of the appetizers and the ribs were a favorite. For our meals we had the smash burgers, short rib stroganoff, slow braised short ribs, and of course a couple of grilled cheese plates for the kids. This place is good for date night or a celebration. It's a restaurant with classy bar vibes. The theme / atmosphere is dim lit / fancy dinner. The service here was great and the waiters are attentive. They are not spread out thin like other restaurants. The food here is delicious. I would recommend the rosemary fried chicken. My mom and sister had told me how good this place was and how is a nice fight and they were totally correct. Everything is five stars all around for me. The food is outstanding. I ordered the barbecue Cobb salad and it was wonderful and I had the pleasure of trying a piece of my mom's Short rib and mashed potatoes and our server Let me try the potato leek soup, which was so fresh, hot and delicious. Had a late lunch with friends here on a Sunday afternoon. We began with their house spinach dip with artichoke. Although most restaurants serve it with chips, Reunion offers Parmesan bread and it's such a game changer! Sooo delicious! Upon arrival, no one came to greet me for what seemed like 10 minutes, as the staff were too busy putting together a table for a large birthday party. Once we were seated, our server was great, she was friendly and attentive and was prompt with bringing us everything we needed. The menu is pretty wide with a lot of good options. The vibe here is fun, it would be a great place to gather with friends or have a nice dinner before a show at the Improv. There is a weekend brunch special with Bottomless Bubbles of champagne ($20) or mimosas ($25) for 2 hours. I didn't opt in for that, instead, I got the Florentine Benedict and cappuccino, my friend got sides of biscuits and gravy and hashbrowns. We both enjoyed our meals. I've been here twice now, and both visits were great. The food and drinks are consistently solid. I had the ribeye cooked perfectly and paired it with Austin Hope, which complemented it really well. The appetizers have all been strong. Drinks are good too -- I tried the espresso martini; not sure if it's made with real coffee, but the flavor is definitely there. On another visit, I had the short rib stroganoff and loved it -- great value, rich flavor, and the bread it comes with pairs perfectly. Not the best place to watch a game; they do have TVs, but the focus is clearly on the food. Highly recommend the mini charcuterie during happy hour. read more

I met some high school friends here for brunch this past weekend! I'd been to another location years ago, and had forgotten how good this place is! I made a reservation for our party through Yelp. It was cool to have a mini high school reunion, at Reunion! There's several parking structures within walking distance of the restaurant. The main entrance is kind of tucked into an alcove and makes it look like you're going into the Improv. It wasn't busy when we arrived, but started to pick up as we were leaving. They had the football games on the televisions near the bar. Our server was Angie and she was great! She was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. She also boxed up our leftovers for us at the end of our meal. For starters, I had to try a cup of their pozole rojo, only available on Sundays and it was wonderful! For the main, I decided to get the short rib Benedict which had the most tender short rib ever, on a buttermilk biscuit with perfectly poached eggs, chipotle hollandaise and crispy onions. Love that there is now a Reunion in Brea. It was one of my favorite places to dine when I used to live in Anaheim Hills, but this Brea location is so much more spacious. The entry door is right across from Old Brea Chophouse and the Improv. The food came out super quick and was very tasty as well. Servers were super attentive and on top of things which I greatly appreciated and the manager even came around to table touch as well which was nice. Honestly i'm so impressed! We came here last minute and canceled our other reservation because I had heard amazing things about this place. First of all our server Cherish was WONDERFUL! She made us feel super comfortable which is always a plus. The restaurant itself was small but still super roomy. It was a darker vibe which gave nice jazz bar vibes. They are fried with a crispy outer shell sprinkled with parmigiana cheese with a ranch dipping sauce. The Deviled eggs are towers of deliciousness that are topped with bacon bits and full of flavor. Caesar salad was just meh...I personally like a strong anchovy flavor but this was mild. Entrees: Salmon citrus salad was a nice large salad I was able to split with my friend. It included 3 large pieces of salmon topped with a grapefruit jam, candied walnuts, grapefruit slices on mixed greens. French onion pasta (we added chicken) was a MUST!! Sooo flavorful and creamy- we couldn't stop eating. Service was attentive and friendly. They even bring hot towels at the end. We came at lunch so it was maybe 25% full. Dayum. The food and service here are on point. Definitely enjoyed our lunch here today. I got the Chef's feature Halibut with no mash potatoes and instead got mor veggies. Guys!!! This Halibut was fire! I mean super delicious and tasty and not dry. Loved it. My buddy got the Asian salad with chicken. Very big salad. He didn't even finish it. Great tasting food, great service, our iced teas were always full, got a super hot coffee after lunch. The ambience was clean, quiet, and low key. Perfect spot for lunch. Not a lot of tuna but the mango relish made it refreshing. Hubby had the OC sour dough burger which was decent. I chose the Chilean sea bass special with roasted asparagus. I substituted roasted mixed veggies for the Parmesan risotto that it originally came with. At over $64, the dish was disappointing. Came here last night with the family. They originally seated us in the back, but there was very little to no light, so you could barely see the menu. I asked to move and they put us at a table up front with a lot more light. This was after we got our appetizers, but because it was getting dark outside, the ambient light from the window was going away. They were very accommodating. The food has always consistent, and the service was much better this time all around. The food came out promptly and we got our drinks timely. Our server didn't disappear for an extended period of time like we have seen before. I got the usual veggie burger, but this time it was different. Maybe it was the bun or the amount of toppings inside, but it was twice the size than I remember. My wife is gluten free and she got a lettuce wrap and it was enormous as well; mostly due to the stack of lettuce. I also got a lower-manhattan (old fashion) and it was pretty good as well. We went around 4 PM on a Sunday -- not too crowded, so we were seated right away. Service? Quick, attentive, and on point the whole time. Drinks to start: Belching Beaver Amber Ale Hibiscus Margarita (Hibiscus-infused tequila, hibiscus syrup, fresh lime, Tajin) -- super refreshing! Appetizers (pictured): Miso Garlic Noodles - Chow mein noodles tossed in miso glaze, garlic butter, black sesame, green onion. Ahi Poke Stack - Sriracha cream, avocado, mango relish, soy ginger sauce. Both were fresh, flavorful, and perfect for a hot summer afternoon. Mains (also pictured): Rosemary's Chicken and Biscuit - Perfectly battered, juicy fried chicken over Yukon mashed, sausage gravy, roasted veggies, and a buttermilk biscuit with honey butter that was next level. Every bite? Absolute fire. Prime Flat Iron Steak - 8 oz., pre-sliced London broil style, medium-rare (chef's kiss). Rich demi-glace, bleu cheese mashed potatoes (insane combo), and crunchy baby asparagus. Melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Ambiance: Super chill vibe with reggae music at just the right volume -- enough to bob your head and enjoy the mood without shouting over it. Whoever curated the playlist that day deserves a raise. Final verdict: Reunion Kitchen+Drink came through BIG TIME. Incredible food, great portions, attentive service, and a laid-back but elevated atmosphere.
