In my continuing quest quest find the best fried zucchini in Orange County, I found myself in Brea at around lunch time and I decided to check it out. Sadly, I did not find what I was hoping to find. The place is clean enough upon entry and I was greeted somewhat quickly (once the cashier had finished her conversation with her coworker.) I ordered a cheeseburger combo with fried zucchini instead of french fries. The Coke from the machine was a bit flat. Bummer, but not the end of the world. Upon inspecting my receipt while I was waiting for my food, I realized that I had been charged full price for a cheeseburger ($6.59), a side of fried zucchini (a whopping $8.44), and a Coke ($3.89)...all together with tax, more than $20. According to the menu, you can make any burger a combo for an extra $5, and since a small fry is just a tad over $5, it's kind of like a combo is giving you a free Coke. It's a bummer that their system doesn't allow for substitutions, as this price did seem a little bit steep for what I was getting. When the food came out and I took a bite of my burger, I realized that I was going to want more 1000 Island spread than the burger had to offer (what can I say, I'm a sauce guy!) Surprise, surprise, - that turned out to be an extra $0.65. I had some cash on me, so I just gave the cashier a dollar and got back to my food. The burger was not bad. The fried zucchini had decent texture, but the breading was a bit thick for my preference and it lact flavor. All in all, the meal was just sorta okay. Price wise, it was definitely on the high side! I visited Brea's Best Burgers for the first time and although I enjoyed my burger, I am disappointed by a single worker who ruined my experience. Ordering was easy with the female cashier. I didn't have to wait long for my hamburger. Once I saw it come from the back kitchen, I walked to the front window to wait for the male staff member in the middle kitchen to put it in a paper bag. While I stood at the front window, I noticed a female worker preparing either chili cheese or sweet potato fries in the back kitchen...and her colleague likely male who was standing to her left grabbed fries from the dish she was arranging. I didn't see the colleague put the fries in his mouth because by then I had to pick up my burger and the window slot doesn't allow me to see their bodies above their shoulder but the worker definitely dug his fingers into the customer's fries while the female worker didn't stop him and she continued to drizzle white sauce onto the fries. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNHYGIENIC for a worker to take a piece from a customer's order to likely consume himself. To be fair, even though I didn't watch long enough to see him put fries in his mouth, the way he put his hands on the fries didn't look like he was putting back fries that may have fallen off the plate onto their plating area, he definitely was trying to pull fries deep in the pile to get one that was drenched in sauce. I hope the owner sees this and trains staff better. I've attached a receipt for the owner to review the footage. Receipt timestamp is an hour behind... Receipt says 5:08 but my visit was 6:08. I came out to the OC to go to Disneyland and decided to stop by here on the way back home on Thursday January 8th,2026 around 11:30am, I came with a friend, I ordered a turkey burger and onion rings, the staff was super friendly, the place is immaculate! I ordered for "dine-in." I received a small metal number & found a seat, and staff brought the food to the table. I waited only four minutes. So fast! As mentioned, I ordered the Cheeseburger ($6.89) and Sausage Breakfast Burrito ($9.99). The Sausage Breakfast Burrito was the more memorable option. That heavy, hot, & freshly prepared breakfast burrito had fluffy potatoes (similar to textured mashed potatoes), generous cheese, eggs, and savory sausage slices. Its ingredients tasted very fresh, and this hefty breakfast burrito was extremely satisfying. The Cheeseburger was also a solid option. It arrived somewhat lukewarm, but I appreciated the freshness of its ingredients. The Cheeseburger had a toasty, buttered bun; its meat patty carried a light char; and the vegetables were crisp and fresh. Unfortunately, the meat's patty was somewhat bland and under-seasoned. Most of the flavor derived from the fresh vegetables and thinly spread thousand island sauce. Concerning ambiance, Brea's Best Burgers is cozy and attractive. The art mural is vibrant and well-maintained. The furniture is bright, colorful, and clean. The tables are sleek and shiny. However, although its floors were relatively clean, it would have benefited from several more sweeps. Also, I disliked how their music had numerous commercials/advertisements; it felt like radio. In addition, this location can get echoey, so customer chatter might make it somewhat difficult to converse. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience at Brea's Best Burgers. Really disappointed with the quality of the food. I went in a bit before closing time although I appreciate them taking my order I asked before 8:40pm. They close at 9:00pm.. They told me they only had orders to go. After a long work day I honestly didn't want to cook and came in for a bbq chicken sandwich combo. When biting into my sandwich the chicken was raw in the middle please see my picture and fries were just stale. I called at 8:58pm to let them know. Nobody answered anymore. Brea's Best Burgers is one of the staples of the downtown Brea area. Any time you drive by here, you can't miss the big yellow and brown sign on the corner which has been there for ages. The inside has a classic diner feel with a black and white tiled floor, red and white booths, and a great classic cars mural along the back wall. There are also some benches out front if you would like to get some fresh air while you eat. I have only ever eaten burgers here but their menu is pretty extensive and includes burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, salads, Mexican favorites, and breakfast. When you order and dine-in, they will give you a number and bring your food to your table when it is ready. The cashier was friendly as she took my order and when she delivered it. I decided to order the avocado bacon cheeseburger. I thought to myself "wow that looks good" when it arrived. The patty actually looked a little thin, but I took my first bite and it had an excellent char-broiled flavor. The strips of bacon had a nice thickness and were good and meaty. On a whim, I ordered through their site, and had the pickup order ready within 10 minutes. The store is clean, appearing to be recently renovated in the past 5 years, with an old school diner feel.
