I can't remember everything we ordered, but I will say what stood out to me were the Lomo Saltado and Smoked Salmon Waffle. Lomo Saltado's portion was a bit small, but my friend really enjoyed her plate and she said the flavors played off one another wonderfully. The Smoked Salmon waffle inherently doesn't sound like anything special, but I was so glad I ordered it. The fresh ingredients featured weren't overly salty, the portion-to-price point ratio was a nice surprise, and the waffle itself was quite fluffy. I really enjoyed this. The food is decent, but the service really brings this place down. The server with tattoos was noticeably rude from the start, no greeting, no eye contact, and an overall dismissive and unpleasant attitude. What seemed to be the "manager" wasn't any better. We ended up having to get up and ask for hot sauce ourselves, and later had to do the same just to get our check because she just never came back. The experience went downhill quickly and made the visit uncomfortable. After looking at other reviews, it seems like this isn't an isolated issue, many people mention rude service. With so many similar complaints, it's surprising that someone like this hasn't been let go. I always trip out when I go to a restaurant and the staff seem miserable. I've said this before and I'll say it again, if you don't like the situation you're in, change it. I loved the food. Chicken and waffles soooo good. I love that everything is freshly made and organic. The sausage and gravy was really good and made from scratch. Dont miss out on the champagne flight, you get jars not glasses lol. Loved the guava. Reason for 3 stars is service is not the best. Its young kids that seem to be poorly trained. It was okay, but not somewhere I'd return. We waited about 30 minutes for our food, and since we sat outside, service felt less attentive. I also waited a while for a hot chocolate refill, but they don't offer refills. The $14 waffle was fine but overpriced for not coming with a side. The "skillet potatoes" were more like garlic fries, which I didn't like. My friend's chicken sandwich was a little soft and greasy, but she did enjoy the fries and ranch. The brunch here is good, but I wouldn't consider it well-valued. I ordered a Benny Sampler for $25, which comes with three eggs bennys and a side of potatoes. The bennys were traditional, rancho, and pork belly. The traditional ham was dry and tough to cut through. The pork belly was tender, but had an odd inclusion of pickles. The rancho was great with tender carnitas and avocado sauce. Also ordered the breakfast burrito ($18), which included eggs, bacon, hashbrowns. It was mostly filled with hashbrowns/eggs, and limited bacon. The accompanying green sauce was a good dip. Egg Surcharge - FYI there was a $2 egg surcharge for ordering items with eggs. I understand that egg prices were sky high during the shortage, which would justify the fee. However, egg prices have come down since then. The owner needs to consider the marginal fluctuation in egg prices as the "cost of doing business". Don't spring that undisclosed fee onto customers. read more

If you want to avoid any sort of wait time here, come early. It's nice to sit in a not busy Early Bird and enjoy our meal and conversation. Our favorite meals here are the Grand Moff Tarkin, their seasonal dishes, brioche French toast and the griddle cake. I visited Early Bird on a random Wednesday to grab brunch with my mom, and what a wonderful place it turned out to be! Early Bird is a seat yourself type of location, or at least that's how it was when we visited. I grabbed a couple of menus and found a table for my mom and me. My mom ordered a hot house coffee and I got a latte. My mom said that their house coffee was good, which is a crazy good compliment coming from her! The food itself was also very delicious and the price did not break the wallet. Again, when I went, it was relatively quiet (maybe only one or two other parties there), but our server was still very attentive. I believe her name was Cassie or something along those lines? I'm visiting southern Cali again! I'm always excited to try new places, this breakfast spot was close to the Airbnb that we were staying at. We drove by and I decided to stop by and look at the menu. Everything sounded really good, we came the next morning for breakfast. Everything we ordered was really good. The only thing is, it's super confusing on how people get seated. We were waiting to be seated and the wait staff all pass by and didn't acknowledge us. People came from behind us and just sat down. Finally we flagged someone down to help us get seated. It's not a huge dinning area but plenty of smaller tables. There's only a couple of big tables, which appears to be 8 is the max. Early Bird is one of my new favorite breakfast spots! It's definitely a busy place, but the nice thing is Yelp gives you the option to join the waitlist ahead of time, which made the process super convenient. The food was delicious. I ordered the Churro Waffle, which was perfectly balanced--not overly sweet--and the added butter on the side was a nice touch. I especially enjoyed the bananas on top, though I do wish there were a few more of them. I also tried the turkey sandwich on sourdough with sweet potato fries, and it was amazing. The combination of Gouda cheese and the aïoli gave it a rich, savory flavor that really stood out. On top of the great food, the staff was kind, friendly, and very attentive, which made the busy atmosphere feel relaxed and welcoming. Because of how many reviews this place had, I had higher expectations. However , this could be because we're vegetarian. Might be a great place for omnivores. My husband thought the pancake was good but I'm not sure what level of pancake connoisseur he is. Benedict, chilaquiles, grilled cheese, French toast were good but nothing exceptional. I'd come back if others would want to go but it wouldn't be a place I'd crave and ask to come back to. The side potatoes as well as the side hash browns both have onions in it fyi if you don't eat onions. They won't seat you until your whole party is present. I appreciate their flexibility with substitutions, however. They don't say," I'm going to charge you $2 for avocado even though you're not getting meat." They also charge you less if you get chilaquiles without meat. You have to appreciate that because many restaurants charge you full price regardless if you omit the protein of the dish. Early Bird was amazing! Such a quaint and welcoming place. Staff were great, friendly and welcoming. We tried the Bacon and eggs with skillet potatoes and sourdough toast. Everything was cooked to my liking . The potatoes were crispy yet soft, flavorful and seasoned to perfection. The toast was made with artisan bread, served with fresh raspberry jam. Delicious!! First timer at Early Bird. I have passed by this restaurant so many times & it's been saved to my yelp collection! I finally made it. We came close to closing and I thought it wouldn't be a good idea but the service and the food didn't disappoint. I must say I wasnt totally impressed with the full menu and the breakfast options but the Ribeye and eggs was most appealing to my fiancé and I! The steak was cooked to perfection and tender. Needed a tad bit more seasoning but paired well with the eggs and potatoes. My fiancé also ordered the buckwheat pancake. It had bananas and walnuts on top! Tried Early Bird with my friends for a Sunday brunch because we were in the area. We wait 30 minutes to be seated even though there were a couple tables open. The tables were put together pretty close so you move the chair it sometimes back into other people's chair. The service was fast but the food was ok. I have noticed the line outside of this place when going to the grocery store and I have been curious of trying it. We are not morning people so we don't eat breakfast often but happened to be up early and decided to give it a try on a week day. There is limited parking right in front, but there is enough parking with a little more of a walk. This location is very popular and family friendly. It is a casual ambiance and it feels welcoming. The staff was friendly when we walked in. Thankfully there was no wait and got seated right away towards the back close to the restrooms. We took a bit of time deciding what to get since everything looked good. I ended up opting for the chilaquiles and my bf for the Benedict sampler. My chilaquiles were good, one of my poached eggs was perfect and the other just a little overdone but not a big deal. O don't think the chips are made at the restaurant, they gave me the impression of being store bought which is fine. I would've liked to have been asked the temperature for the steak as I like it medium rare vs medium well. The presentation for the Benny sampler was on point. The pork belly Benedict looked the best so my bf saved it for last. Sadly it was not as good as it looked. The pork was on the tougher side. The traditional Benedict was ok, the ham was also tough as if it was cooked before and cooked again for serving. The best one was the ranch Benedict. If we were to redo the order, that would be the one! The pulled pork had good flavour and everything just went well together. Although they were extremely busy, it did take a while for the check. The waitress brought the POS that only showed the total, tax and tip %. It felt weird to me to pay with without visibility to the breakdown but felt pressured to just complete the transaction. I opted for the text receipt as I wanted to check the breakdown since it wasn't given upfront. When I did that, I noticed the egg surcharge on there that I did not see anywhere in the menu. On our small table, the sign with the surcharge was against the wall and not visible. Although they had it on the sign, it is required in California to be stated on the menus. We talked to the hostess and she dismissed it as "oh I don't know, that's just how it is". My bf was a bit upset because of the sketchiness of the whole paying experience and hidden fee not shown on the menu. The manager came over and he was more understanding. It is baffling that they were not aware of this change that had been in effect for about 2-3 weeks at that point. I would think that being in the restaurant business you would be on top of regulations that impact you. They did end up refunding the fee. Overall we felt like it was a bit overpriced for the whole experience and food quality. Within that price range there are other places that we feel that have better food.
