Fruity pebble pancake
Allene A.

HUGE fruity pebble pancake, SO good. Their syrup is different, it's amazing but it not a regular syrup from the store. All the food is bomb. Salmon Benedict, decent size too. Service is quick. Only downside is the hours and that since it's smaller, the tables are SO close together. Def packed in tight. Wish it was open past 2:30 but makes sense for a bfast place

Chicken and waffles

I loved the food. Chicken and waffles soooo good. I love that everything is freshly made and organic. The sausage and gravy was really good and made from scratch. Dont miss out on the champagne flight, you get jars not glasses lol. Loved the guava. Reason for 3 stars is service is not the best. Its young kids that seem to be poorly trained. They dont have the proper etiquette as for as service. We had to ask for everything such as silverware menus and drinks. They need to be more attentive and aware of their tables.

Hot Cocoa

It was okay, but not somewhere I'd return. We waited about 30 minutes for our food, and since we sat outside, service felt less attentive. I also waited a while for a hot chocolate refill, but they don't offer refills. The $14 waffle was fine but overpriced for not coming with a side. The "skillet potatoes" were more like garlic fries, which I didn't like. My friend's chicken sandwich was a little soft and greasy, but she did enjoy the fries and ranch. The hot chocolate was the highlight. Overall, underwhelming for the price.

The brunch here is good, but I wouldn't consider it well-valued. I ordered a Benny Sampler for $25, which comes with three eggs bennys and a side of potatoes. The bennys were traditional, rancho, and pork belly. The traditional ham was dry and tough to cut through. The pork belly was tender, but had an odd inclusion of pickles. The rancho was great with tender carnitas and avocado sauce. Also ordered the breakfast burrito ($18), which included eggs, bacon, hashbrowns. It was mostly filled with hashbrowns/eggs, and limited bacon. The accompanying green sauce was a good dip. Egg Surcharge - FYI there was a $2 egg surcharge for ordering items with eggs. I understand that egg prices were sky high during the shortage, which would justify the fee. However, egg prices have come down since then. The owner needs to consider the marginal fluctuation in egg prices as the "cost of doing business". Don't spring that undisclosed fee onto customers.

I visited Early Bird on a random Wednesday to grab brunch with my mom, and what a wonderful place it turned out to be! Early Bird is a seat yourself type of location, or at least that's how it was when we visited. I grabbed a couple of menus and found a table for my mom and me. My mom ordered a hot house coffee and I got a latte. My mom said that their house coffee was good, which is a crazy good compliment coming from her! The food itself was also very delicious and the price did not break the wallet. Again, when I went, it was relatively quiet (maybe only one or two other parties there), but our server was still very attentive. I believe her name was Cassie or something along those lines? She was absolutely wonderful and so sweet! I can't wait to swing by for some brunch again soon :) Definitely suggest giving them a try if you're in the area!

Service: Our service was amazing! We are definitely going to be coming back! Food: All of the food was so good. The Benedict was our favorite. The loaded fries were very salty. Seems like there was like a lot of soy sauce. Outside: They have a lot of parking and had a few tables outside. Inside: They have a decent amount of tables considering the size of the restaurant. It is decorated very cute and pleasing. It was very clean.

Early Bird is one of my new favorite breakfast spots! It's definitely a busy place, but the nice thing is Yelp gives you the option to join the waitlist ahead of time, which made the process super convenient. The food was delicious. I ordered the Churro Waffle, which was perfectly balanced--not overly sweet--and the added butter on the side was a nice touch. I especially enjoyed the bananas on top, though I do wish there were a few more of them. I also tried the turkey sandwich on sourdough with sweet potato fries, and it was amazing. The combination of Gouda cheese and the aïoli gave it a rich, savory flavor that really stood out. On top of the great food, the staff was kind, friendly, and very attentive, which made the busy atmosphere feel relaxed and welcoming. If you're looking for a great breakfast or brunch spot, I'd definitely recommend checking out Early Bird!

Benedict with avocado instead of ham

Because of how many reviews this place had, I had higher expectations. However , this could be because we're vegetarian. Might be a great place for omnivores. My husband thought the pancake was good but I'm not sure what level of pancake connoisseur he is. Benedict, chilaquiles, grilled cheese, French toast were good but nothing exceptional. I'd come back if others would want to go but it wouldn't be a place I'd crave and ask to come back to. The side potatoes as well as the side hash browns both have onions in it fyi if you don't eat onions. They won't seat you until your whole party is present. I appreciate their flexibility with substitutions, however. They don't say," I'm going to charge you $2 for avocado even though you're not getting meat." They also charge you less if you get chilaquiles without meat. You have to appreciate that because many restaurants charge you full price regardless if you omit the protein of the dish. So thank you .

Bacon and Eggs with Skillet potatoes.

Early Bird was amazing! Such a quaint and welcoming place. Staff were great, friendly and welcoming. We tried the Bacon and eggs with skillet potatoes and sourdough toast. Everything was cooked to my liking . The potatoes were crispy yet soft, flavorful and seasoned to perfection. The toast was made with artisan bread, served with fresh raspberry jam. Delicious!! The chilaquiles had a kick but not spicy with creama, avocado, steak and eggs. Such a good dish! Everything was so fresh! We will definitely be returning soon! Highly recommend giving them a try if you have not already.

I'm visiting southern Cali again! I'm always excited to try new places, this breakfast spot was close to the Airbnb that we were staying at. We drove by and I decided to stop by and look at the menu. Everything sounded really good, we came the next morning for breakfast. Everything we ordered was really good. The only thing is, it's super confusing on how people get seated. We were waiting to be seated and the wait staff all pass by and didn't acknowledge us. People came from behind us and just sat down. Finally we flagged someone down to help us get seated. It's not a huge dinning area but plenty of smaller tables. There's only a couple of big tables, which appears to be 8 is the max. Overall the food was good and the service was decent, I will definitely come back when I'm in the area.

Dutch waffle

Stopped by here on a Wednesday morning and again, it did not disappoint. The waffle is perfectly crispy and the cream on top is so light and fluffy. The eggs were perfectly cooked and had the most perfect texture. The steak was seasoned well and tender. The chilaquiles were a bit too soggy for me but the sauce had good flavor. The service here is always really good, everyone is so attentive.

Love this place. Can't avoid ordering three plates every time for just the two of us!

Visited on a Saturday at 1 and it was busy but we were seated quickly. Smaller place, unassuming. The menu had a bunch of stuff that sounded delicious, but I'm pregnant so unfortunately most items were off the table for me (like Benedicts and soft cheeses). Went with chilaquiles and customized with no meat and swapped cheddar for queso fresca. Although I was told the green sauce was mild, it had a kick and a bit too spicy for me. Overall, it was OK. I wouldn't order it again. I did appreciate the price is less with no meat since most places charge either way. I'd like to visit again while not pregnant so I can order one of the other items.

Ask the Community - Early Bird

Do you guys take reservations?

Sorry we dont but you can always use Yelp to add your name to the waitlist and then that way you can wait at home until your table is almost next. If you add your name on yelp, you’ll be able to see at all times how many parties are ahead of you

Is there bottomless Mimosa's? If so, how much and what days/hours?

I didn't see that on the menu, but they do have a mimosa flight of 3 different flavors.

Can you make a reservation?

No, but you can join the waitlist on Yelp.

Is there a kids menu that I could order from?

Is there outdoor seating still available?

yes, but some of the tables are under the sun without any shade

The address doesn't seem to be right? It's taking me to the hospital!

It's on the corner of BASTANCHURY & BREA BLVD In the stater bros parking lot next to the beagle shop

Do they deliver? I see delivery is listed as an option on yelps more info section but can't find a way to order?

Yes on their website but the last 6 times I've gone here, they say their online ordering system isn't working (even though it will let you place an order). So I would advise against it and call to place an order instead.

Is it only outdoor seating as of today?

indoor also

Why would nobody be answering the phone when it's already your business hours? I called 10x from 7:33 thru 7:48, and it just goes to vm!

Probably because they are busy serving customers that are already there... and they don't have a secretary or receptionist.... ??

Is outdoor seating still available?

Yes, outdoor only.

Do you have a unit number?

Not sure what you mean by Unit? as in address?

Are they open? I see reviews from a few weeks ago but when I call in for order pick up no one ever answers the phone? I've tried checking elsewhere to see if there is any information about their operating hours due to COVID-19.

Yes we are 7:30-2pm and Saturday and Sunday until 2:30pm. We are open for “to-go” orders only and we are also partnered with UberEats as well. Sorry for the late reply.

Are there non-dairy options?

Yes. As far as almond milk and soy milk. I want to say I remember there being food options but I didn't specifically order any food with that option we just asked for the butter on the side.

Are they accepting reservations for Mother's Day?

No, they closed their waitlist

How early does this location start serving alcohol (mimosas)?

When they open.

Do they have an option for bottomless mimosas on Sundays?

No we don’t, but we have a mimosa flight that comes w 3 different flavored mimosas!

Do they have gluten free toast?

We don't but we have a gluten free pancake 😉

Do they take reservations on the weekends?

I have never tried, but on the weekends I will put my name on a waitlist through yelp it is so helpful! It tells you how many people are in front of you and if you live close you can check in from home and get there and be seated very quickly

Do they have gluten free options if so what?

They do you have to ask your server

Are they open on Monday Sep 5 (Labor Day)?

Sept 3 2018? If so, yes. Till 2pm

My family and I decided to visit for the first time for British cuisine. It's not a far departure…read morefrom foods of other cultures around the locality, but you'll notice differences between British and American English, for example. Many of their dishes include chips, which during my visit, resembled steak fries due to their thickness. You'll also see that curry is a signature dish in the menu, which reflects how Anglo-Indian cuisine has maintained popular influence in the United Kingdom. I ordered Cutty Sark's curry with chicken, rice, and chips at medium spice. The name is derived from a British merchant vessel that operated during the late 1800s. The curry had a mix of savory and sweet flavors, which reminded me of both Japanese and Indian cuisines at the same time. I couldn't say with certainty that the curry fit into just one cuisine. Packed with some heat and bold in spice, it's a delightful and large dish if you desire a lot of flavor. Where the curry went a little off course was the addition of celery. The petiole is strongly flavored and distracts from the curry in my perhaps controversial opinion. Curry seems to better mix with potatoes and carrots. I tried some of the bacon sarnie as well. The word "sarnie" is an affectionate diminutive for "sandwich." American bacon usually comes from pork belly, which provides a flavorful yet oily crispiness. However, the British variant usually comes from the loin, which is meatier and leaner. I thought of the bacon here as similar to a savory ham. The sarnie bread is fried in fat to emphasize buttery flavor. The restaurant, filled with English decorations, has the style of a cozy and dim pub. There's a good amount of small wooden booths with cracked leather seating. Our server was really nice and made sure we got everything we needed despite the busyness of the restaurant. For example, my curry came with a chutney, and I had asked for a lid to take it home. While I forgot to take the chutney home, she went outside as she noticed that we took the back exit to look at their double-decker bus. She even offered to take a picture of us. The service deserves a lot of kudos, and we were grateful for her consideration.

My girlfriend and I decided to reward ourselves with a lunch date here after tackling the nearby…read moretrail behind Ralphs. After burning a few calories, we were more than ready to put them all right back. Upon entering, we stood at the front for about a minute before being acknowledged and shown to a booth. Not exactly a dramatic wait, but just enough time for me to start wondering whether we'd accidentally wandered into a museum exhibit instead of a restaurant. And honestly, that wouldn't have been the worst thing. The décor here is fantastic. While waiting, I found myself admiring all the details and soaking in the atmosphere. It genuinely felt like we'd stepped into another country without the hassle of passports, customs, or a 10-hour flight. Having never been to a British pub before, I was excited to experience something different. We were seated in a cozy leather booth that looked straight out of a vintage European train car. "Cozy" is definitely the operative word here. If you're dining with someone, prepare for the possibility of an accidental knee-to-knee alliance. It wasn't an issue for us, but taller guests might find themselves wishing for just a few more inches of legroom. For our meals, I went with one of their signature dishes, the fish and chips, while my girlfriend ordered the seafood platter. Looking to start things off properly, we asked our server for an appetizer recommendation. He suggested the chips with curry sauce, which sounded great at the time. What we didn't realize was that our entrées were already arriving with enough fries to sustain a small village. When the food landed, we suddenly found ourselves in possession of what felt like the restaurant's entire potato inventory. The curry sauce itself was tasty, but in hindsight, something like the garlic mushrooms or vegetarian samosas might have given us a little more variety. I ordered the two-piece cod fish and chips, which came with a mountain of steak fries and a tiny scoop of coleslaw that looked like it had wandered onto the plate by mistake. The fish was good, but the portion was impressively hearty. I made it about halfway through before my body politely informed me that further eating would require a nap. The curry sauce was enjoyable, though not quite the life-changing experience I'd secretly hoped for. The real MVP was our server, who remained friendly and attentive throughout the meal despite looking like he was covering half the restaurant by himself. He checked in regularly and did a great job taking care of us. Overall, the atmosphere was the highlight of the visit. Between the immersive décor, cozy pub vibes, and generous portions, it was a fun and memorable experience. Just be warned: if you order fries as an appetizer, make sure you're prepared to commit to a serious relationship with potatoes.
