So, we come in at 1015am on a Thursday. There are 4 other tables occupied in an otherwise empty restaurant. The unenthused server possessed of a French "ennui", bored-with-life vibe offers coffee (good), doesn't know the waffle of the week (not great), and disappears behind a bus station to check her phone for 20 mins at a time rather than walking the floor to check on tables. No buckwheat on hand for the buckwheat pancake I fancied (it's a bulk staple, so how do you run out?). Ordered the brioche french toast and an omelette. While overpriced (~$19 for the french toast) and delivery 20+ minutes after ordering (industry standard is about 10-12 mins for this dish, less for the omelette), taste was good and almost made up for the blasé service and tardiness. Net-net, this was my fourth and final stop at Early Bird. I might miss the french toast, but they won't miss us. read more

The breakfast burritos are incredible here! Wide variety of ingredients, flavor and more. My wife tried the soyrizo burrito whereas I grabbed their carne asada burrito. Both were loaded with veggies, guacamole and more. Small space but there is still seating and the food is always made fresh and to order, along with a fresh salsa. There have been some changes since my last visit a decade ago. The apple juice was the main one. Next time I am definitely getting the churro waffles! I do love that this spot uses cinnamon in many items. The Mexican Coffee was excellent with a whole stick of cinnamon served in it, and sweetened with piloncillo. It's so much better than any other type of sweetener! For the really busy mornings, you can join the waitlist through Yelp, once you're within a couple of miles away. Luckily it wasn't super busy when we arrived at 9am on a Saturday morning, and there were plenty of seats available. I've been here several times in the past back when I was really into Benedicts, and this place made some delicious ones. The pork belly Bennie used to be my go-to every time. But now that I've kind of moved on from my Bennie phase, I found myself staring at the menu wondering what to order instead. After going back and forth for a while, I decided on the Serrano Chicken Sandwich - and it ended up being a great choice according to our server. It had a really nice spicy kick, and I especially loved the crunchy onions that added extra texture to every bite. I picked the mixed greens salad as my side, though the dressing made it a little too sour for my taste so I couldn't finish it. My boyfriend, who's a big omelette person, ordered the veggie omelette. The brunch here is good, but I wouldn't consider it well-valued. I ordered a Benny Sampler for $25, which comes with three eggs bennys and a side of potatoes. The bennys were traditional, rancho, and pork belly. The traditional ham was dry and tough to cut through. The pork belly was tender, but had an odd inclusion of pickles. The rancho was great with tender carnitas and avocado sauce. Also ordered the breakfast burrito ($18), which included eggs, bacon, hashbrowns. It was mostly filled with hashbrowns/eggs, and limited bacon. The accompanying green sauce was a good dip. Egg Surcharge - FYI there was a $2 egg surcharge for ordering items with eggs. I understand that egg prices were sky high during the shortage, which would justify the fee. However, egg prices have come down since then. The owner needs to consider the marginal fluctuation in egg prices as the "cost of doing business". Don't spring that undisclosed fee onto customers. read more

It was okay, but not somewhere I'd return. We waited about 30 minutes for our food, and since we sat outside, service felt less attentive. I also waited a while for a hot chocolate refill, but they don't offer refills. The $14 waffle was fine but overpriced for not coming with a side. The "skillet potatoes" were more like garlic fries, which I didn't like. My friend's chicken sandwich was a little soft and greasy, but she did enjoy the fries and ranch. Tried Early Bird with my friends for a Sunday brunch because we were in the area. We wait 30 minutes to be seated even though there were a couple tables open. The tables were put together pretty close so you move the chair it sometimes back into other people's chair. The service was fast but the food was ok. The omelette was ok there was nothing special about it (2.5/5). Both of the benedict was pretty good (3.5/5) but the rancho benedict had a very hard English muffin that was impossible to cut. My first time here. I ordered bacon cheese omelette. The bacon was store bought bacon bits. Did not taste like bacon and they were too hard. My husband ordered sausage n eggs. The sausage was not tasty. It seemed like it wasn't seasoned. It's a very noisy restaurant. The prices are too high for the serving size of the meals. I visited Early Bird on a random Wednesday to grab brunch with my mom, and what a wonderful place it turned out to be! Early Bird is a seat yourself type of location, or at least that's how it was when we visited. I grabbed a couple of menus and found a table for my mom and me. My mom ordered a hot house coffee and I got a latte. My mom said that their house coffee was good, which is a crazy good compliment coming from her! The food itself was also very delicious and the price did not break the wallet. Again, when I went, it was relatively quiet (maybe only one or two other parties there), but our server was still very attentive. I believe her name was Cassie or something along those lines? I can't remember everything we ordered, but I will say what stood out to me were the Lomo Saltado and Smoked Salmon Waffle. Lomo Saltado's portion was a bit small, but my friend really enjoyed her plate and she said the flavors played off one another wonderfully. The Smoked Salmon waffle inherently doesn't sound like anything special, but I was so glad I ordered it. The fresh ingredients featured weren't overly salty, the portion-to-price point ratio was a nice surprise, and the waffle itself was quite fluffy. I really enjoyed this. Food lack luster. The griddle cake was good but the waffle in the chicken and waffles was rock hard and the chicken was super soggy. Service is awful. We were sat outside and left there for 15 minutes. We had to go get a waitress to come give us drinks and get our order. When the food arrives we didn't have silverware or syrup. We asked for it and had to wait 5 minutes for those items to arrive. We were not checked on and waited 10 minutes until we had to go back inside and ask a waiter for give us a box and a check. It's definitely a busy place, but the nice thing is Yelp gives you the option to join the waitlist ahead of time, which made the process super convenient. The food was delicious. I ordered the Churro Waffle, which was perfectly balanced--not overly sweet--and the added butter on the side was a nice touch. I especially enjoyed the bananas on top, though I do wish there were a few more of them. I also tried the turkey sandwich on sourdough with sweet potato fries, and it was amazing. The combination of Gouda cheese and the aïoli gave it a rich, savory flavor that really stood out. On top of the great food, the staff was kind, friendly, and very attentive, which made the busy atmosphere feel relaxed and welcoming. Because of how many reviews this place had, I had higher expectations. However , this could be because we're vegetarian. Might be a great place for omnivores. My husband thought the pancake was good but I'm not sure what level of pancake connoisseur he is. Benedict, chilaquiles, grilled cheese, French toast were good but nothing exceptional. I'd come back if others would want to go but it wouldn't be a place I'd crave and ask to come back to. The side potatoes as well as the side hash browns both have onions in it fyi if you don't eat onions. They won't seat you until your whole party is present. I appreciate their flexibility with substitutions, however. They don't say," I'm going to charge you $2 for avocado even though you're not getting meat." They also charge you less if you get chilaquiles without meat. You have to appreciate that because many restaurants charge you full price regardless if you omit the protein of the dish. ALWAYS great food & service! We come here semi-regularly and are never disappointed. From the fact that you can check in on Yelp prior to your arrival to avoid a long wait to how amazing their homemade juice mimosa flight is, the experience at Early Bird is always top notch. Every employee there genuinely seems to enjoy their job and are always really attentive, kind and on top of their game. I don't think we've ever had an order messed up or item forgotten in all the times we've gone. Food is always so good as well! We love the rancho Benedict with carnitas and avocado mash. They've even done it on sliced tomato for me instead of an English muffin upon request. We also enjoy the biscuits and gravy. The Elvis waffle with bacon and banana is to die for as is the Brioche French toast. The Real Deal Holyfield Steak & Eggs is the way to go if you're craving something extra hearty. If you want to avoid any sort of wait time here, come early. It's nice to sit in a not busy Early Bird and enjoy our meal and conversation. Our favorite meals here are the Grand Moff Tarkin, their seasonal dishes, brioche French toast and the griddle cake. I'm visiting southern Cali again! I'm always excited to try new places, this breakfast spot was close to the Airbnb that we were staying at. We drove by and I decided to stop by and look at the menu. Everything sounded really good, we came the next morning for breakfast. Everything we ordered was really good. The only thing is, it's super confusing on how people get seated. We were waiting to be seated and the wait staff all pass by and didn't acknowledge us. People came from behind us and just sat down. Finally we flagged someone down to help us get seated. It's not a huge dinning area but plenty of smaller tables. There's only a couple of big tables, which appears to be 8 is the max. Went with chilaquiles and customized with no meat and swapped cheddar for queso fresca. Although I was told the green sauce was mild, it had a kick and a bit too spicy for me. Overall, it was OK. I wouldn't order it again. I did appreciate the price is less with no meat since most places charge either way. The food was definitely the highlight of the visit. Service, though, was a bit lacking. The place wasn't that busy, but it still took a while to get our order in, and no one came by for a coffee refill. With a lighter crowd, I'd expect a little more attentiveness from the servers. First timer at Early Bird. I have passed by this restaurant so many times & it's been saved to my yelp collection! I finally made it. We came close to closing and I thought it wouldn't be a good idea but the service and the food didn't disappoint. I must say I wasnt totally impressed with the full menu and the breakfast options but the Ribeye and eggs was most appealing to my fiancé and I! The steak was cooked to perfection and tender. Needed a tad bit more seasoning but paired well with the eggs and potatoes. My fiancé also ordered the buckwheat pancake. It had bananas and walnuts on top!
