My favorites are the sourdough (made with a just-right starter) to offset the richness of the butter and sweetness of the syrup and the blueberry -- their traditional buttermilk pancake loaded with berries inside the pancake and more blueberry compote for the top. I generally get the bacon and eggs (some of the best bacon you'll find in a breakfast place) and then upgrade my pancakes to one of the many flavors. What else is great? There is also a German pancake that's huge, thin, and puffy topped with powdered sugar that I'd recommend. The hash browns are almost a thick potato rosti, turned out from a small cast iron pan. Iced tea and coffee are fresh-brewed and you can get free refills on coffee, tea, and hot chocolate! Who refills hot chocolate? Service is fast, efficient, and spot-on. I've had better and wouldn't recommend it here. The Sausage Links ($7.75) came with a small portion for the price, and they were a little burnt. I wouldn't order them here. I've been here once before years ago and remember that it was very good. I had the opportunity to visit again this Thanksgiving weekend, Black Friday to be exact, and the place was jumpin'. They were packed, the parking lot was full, but fortunately we were able to get the handicap spaces right in the front. They do have handicap access with a built in wheelchair lift right outside the entrance next to the stairs. I really appreciated the help from the kind and helpful staff in getting me and my walker safely up and down. We were a party of 6, and were seated in less than 5 min on Black Friday. Our waiter was Jose (I hope I remembered correctly). Oh my goodness, this man was amazing. He did flips and jumped through hurdles to make our dining experience a very enjoyable time. My order was the Fresh Vegetarian Omelette and since I don't eat tomatoes, I requested to substitute for spinach and they did with no issue. My second substitution was a specialty waffle instead of pancakes and that was also done without any issue. I love to go to restaurants that don't mind accommodating their guests according to different tastes or dietary requests. The Fresh Vegetarian Omelette was phenomenal. I love how everything is round. The omelettes are round like a stuffed egg soufflé or quiche. Inside was broccoli, spinach, and mushrooms. Topped with Jack cheese. The round hashbrowns, I believe, are sent down from heaven because they are buttery and crispy and all the things you would dream them to be. Our entire table shared one order of hashbrowns, but I'm telling you now...get your own for yourself. You're not going to want to share after you taste them. The Apple Waffle was also delicious. I didn't care for the warm apple syrup that is made in house, but I did like it with the maple syrup. The Granny Smith apples that were supposedly inside the waffle weren't very noticeable or seen, but I could taste the essence of apple. Otherwise, I like that they use the thin waffle makers instead of the thick, Belgian style makers. I prefer the thinner waffle, which I feel makes a crisper outer coating. I read on the menu that The Original Pancake House strives for courteous but not obtrusive service and I cannot think of a better way to describe the service we received. She made sure all of our waters and coffees were consistently filled. Incredible! My coworker complimented the chorizo and Janette mentioned how the owner personally cooked up and tasted a bunch of options moving forward with the chorizo they use. As for my 2 eggs and bacon. My sunny side up was perfect. The egg whites were cooked through without the yolk being compromised. Perfect execution. And there was a generous amount of thick bacon slabs. What a luxury!! The pancakes were also incredible. So soft and fluffy. I don't normally order pancakes at most places, but I really dig these pancakes. Such a great spot for breakfast. Service was flawless.
