Taste-wise, this place is pretty standard for an açaí bowl place. But the workers were very kind, the prices are a little more fair here and they don't skimp on anything! You can pick as many bases as you'd like and they have a good half pineapple half mango one (it's the blue one). One unique feature they have is that they have an acai base at 1/2 sweet, which works well if you get other bases that are at full sweetness. The bases were a little icy rather than smooth. As an acai bowl addict who moved to Seattle and got a bit sad at the lack of love for it here (though they're all mostly authentic Brazilian ones which is cool) I knew I had to find a great one on my trip back down to socal. Luckily I found Lazy Bird pretty quick and instantly fell in love. They got acai bowls nailed down to a T and I came here more times than I'd like to admit during my trip. They got looooads of bases here and they're all good, including a less sweet acai that I personally think is superior to the sweeter version in taste. They got all the fixings to choose from as an unlimited toppings place (my favorite kind) and several toppings I hadn't seen before like multiple types of honey and dry spice blends you can add like pumpkin spice. My go-to bowl here ended up being a less sweet acai bowl with taro chia pudding, hemp granola (its soft + fluffier than other granola), strawberry/blueberry/banana, toasted almonds, hemp seeds, agave, cinnamon powder. This açaí bowl is right next to the popular Okayama Bakery that has long lines. We passed by it and decided to give it a try. We had a 16oz Açaí & blue pineapple bowl with strawberries, banana, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, granola, and honey. Blue pineapple is mango and pineapple in blue color. 16 oz bowl is now $12.25. It's very good and filling. The 2 of us shared the 16 oz, and it's plenty for us already. This casual spot only has few tables and is popular too. My usual go to's are Blue Bowl and Earth Superfoods and if those places are a 10/10, this place is a mediocre 3.5/10. A meager 2 minutes after leaving Lazy Bird, I noticed my coconut base was frothy and melted. No biggie, I thought, I still have the matcha base to enjoy. Unfortunately, the matcha base had small chunks of ice and tasted more like a smoothie that's been left out for 30 minutes rather than a refreshing and solid base. I came in wanting to try this place out for the first time since moving nearby and upon walking in I was greeted which was nice.
