Stellar customer service and if I may dare to ask! Has anyone else has noticed the front wooden carved human size bear missing? They had 3 big size carved bears and I resent that? Why? I'm saddened to understand it was kidnapped? Otherwise to be continued and if you are going bye please be sure to stop in as its cozy and just quaint. Snappy fast service. I will be for ever wondered who keeps taking the bears. Nothing to do reflection on service or performance of staff but to the community this is ridiculous taking the bears. To be continued

I'd heard good things about Black Bear Diner so I decided to come in for lunch. When you first come in, it has a gift shoppy, log cabin vibe complete with store merch and chunky log cabin chairs. Deeper into the restaurant the seating is the standard booths and tables. We were promptly greeted and seated right away. The menus are like newspapers and it felt fun and whimsical to hold it like you're perusing the daily news. IYKYK. They have ALOT of choices! Part of me wanted either a classic biscuits & gravy or country fried steak, but I opted for a pot roast melt. It was quite delightful. The meat was super tender & flavorful. The sourdough toast had a Parmesan crust that was a nice touch. I wish the bread would've been toasted a little more, but I still enjoyed all the flavors together. With a side of sweet potato fries, it was a satisfying lunch. Coke fans be aware: only Pepsi products are served here :( They do have a decent cup of coffee as an option.

Definitely a great place to come for lots of food at a great price! Today's server was awesome and was two steps ahead of everything we needed! It's always cute to see all the decor they have with the bears everywhere! Food is yummy and if you love pancakes.... They are famous for them! Sooo light and fluffy!!! Go try them today if you haven't!!!!

Come in hungry as a bear to Black Bear diner! Portion sizes are absolutely MASSIVE and if you're not sharing a meal, you're definitely going to have leftovers to take home and eat later! I LOVE themed restaurants and this restaurant is very, very bear themed. Lots of black bear art, plushies, photos, woodwork, signs, etc all over the restaurant, outside, in the waiting area, at the counters, in the hallways, at the booths, in the restroom, etc. Our server was super friendly, funny, and welcoming the entire time. I got the: 1) Huckleberry Lemonade: -Pretty sweet and not tart at all and not too syrup-y either. -One refill only so make sure to use it! 2) Bigfoot Chicken Fried Steak: -Absolutely massive. -Comes with a side of salad and 2 sides. I got the onion rings and the Italian green beans with bacon to try to balance out some veggies with the amount of meat. Standard green beans and bacon. Slightly crunchy. Huge portion of onion rings, I couldn't even tell that it was a side. Real onions inside but not too soggy. -It's a 10 oz deep fried tender slab of beef smothered in country gravy. -Delicious savory dish, very nostalgic and warming meal. It is a tad dry, but nothing that the oceans of country gravy on top didn't help. I definitely had to bring this home as left overs. There's also lots of bear themed gifts and merch in the front and some baked goods for walk in and purchase (like pies). Great place to get huge amounts of food. Would come back again and split an entree.

That cinnamon roll French toast was amazing!!! Oh my gosh. I loved the cinnamon roll French toast. It tasted just like cinnamon rolls! Then you add the syrup and it's French toast too lol Love the concept! Delivery was there too! 10/10 I also ordered a veggie omelette with a side of fruit. The veggie omelette was delicious. It had lots of veggies and was very flavorful! Plenty of cheese too. 10/10 My husband got the country fried chicken with hash browns. It also came with a side of huge biscuits! They were so big!! The biscuits were smothered in gravy. Hearty breakfast meal. 10/10 Ambiance was busy. Service was good. Plenty of parking nearby.

One of the best diners in Fullerton. Lots of delicious food and very affordable and family friendly. Big portions and so many options to choose from. They have so much merchandise you can purchase at the front. Service was excellent and everyone was very kind. A great place to eat with family or for special occasions. 10/10, heading to Black Bear Diner again!

We've been here before and the food was good. This off this visit The clam chowder was very good and I enjoyed it. On the Reuben sandwich the meat seemed to be old and didn't have much flavor. We ordered a taco salad with ground beef. They used a pulled apart hamburger patty. It didn't work. We also ordered a bowl of oatmeal. It was early evening. It's was like paste. It would have been nice for them to tell they were out of oatmeal. But they served oatmeal that should have not been served. The coffee was hot and we enjoyed it. The service was fine and the waiter did a good job. The restaurant was clean and look nice. I'm not sure we'll be coming back anytime soon.

Portions are huge!!! The service was very slow, but I think she was doing her best. It looked very busy and there was not enough staff. I would return. They have very fluffy pancakes made with sweet cream. I want to try their country fried meals soon. I bet they have good country gravy! I got the vanilla cold brew with sweet cream. It's not free refills, but the cup is very large. I actually didn't finish.

I've always been a fan of Black Bear diner: I love a good traditional American breakfast without draining my wallet. My friend and I swung by around 9 am on a Friday morning, and were attended by Cindy (or Cyndy). She is probably one of the sweetest and friendliest servers I've ever ran into and a principal reason for this review. She deserves all the recognition for our wonderful visit (as well as the breakfast that never misses and always comes out fulfilling). For those unfamiliar with Black Bear Diner, the restaurant is known for its old school diner-esque design and traditional American plates. This particular location has plenty of parking around since it's near a shopping plaza of some sort. Thank you Cindy for making my friend and I feel beyond welcomed and for the amazing service!

A diner is always a perfect choice for my family because everyone wants something different. The Black Bear Diner did not disappoint any of us. We had a Tri-tip dip, an order of chicken strips and a Turkey club sandwich. All were serviced with fries. Each of us enjoyed our meal The portions were generous, the price was reasonable, and the server was friendly.

The rice was only $2 which is rlly nice. the ribeye was ordered medium rare and come out perfectly. While the center of the ribeye was lacking a little flavor and the crust wasnt the best, the cap of the ribeye was cooked beautifully and actually tasted very good. I've had many steaks while dining and this was the first steak to be cooked so evenly, and have flavor without overseasoning. The sleeper item of this whole meal however was the mash potatoes. extremely creamy, smooth, and rich. we also ordered the calamari as an appetizer (pictured not included) and the sauce was good, the calamari itself was okay in terms of taste, but the presentation was unique. it was the first time ive ever had to cut up my own calamari. scissors were given with the dish, and instead of the typical rings, it was more like whole squids fried up.

For example, the cottage cut (seven ounces) costs $39 instead of $59 on Wednesdays. Despite the pricy menu items, the food quality, service, and ambience make for an excellent opportunity to celebrate a special occasion. Firstly, we ordered the seaside sampler for four as an appetizer. This included Chesapeake Bay-style crab cakes, chilled Mexican prawns, and ahi sashimi. I enjoyed the ahi sashimi the most as the large and fresh slices had a nice sear with a savory seasoning on the edges. The crab cakes tasted great and filling with a dill horseradish aioli as the menu listed. While I didn't try the prawns, my mom enjoyed those the most as they had a slightly sweet flavor. I did enjoy the cocktail sauce. Secondly, I ordered the cottage cut, which included seven ounces of roasted prime rib, creamed corn au gratin, creamed spinach, and a Yorkshire popover. The cut tasted lovely at medium rare as it had a soft texture and good balance of meat and fat. I appreciated that my mom got an especially thick cut of prime rib. Seven ounces feels just right for me given that the entree includes other sides. The creamed corn au gratin tasted a little sweet without an overwhelming flavor. I liked how the creamed spinach had a similar taste. A Yorkshire popover has an airy texture with a buttery and eggy taste. Au jus and horseradish butter elevated the prime rib. Thirdly, we had an English trifle for dessert. The menu says that the trifle consists of cake layers soaked with rum and brandy, including English custard, strawberries, Chantilly cream, and caramelized sliced almonds. It had a uniquely sweet flavor due to the soaking, and the almonds provided some crunch. I found the dessert tasty. I found the staff polite, friendly, and professional. Our server disclosed the discounts on their prime rib cuts and listed their prices. She also mentioned other featured entrees in detail. The staff also consistently refilled my water glass. We also had the opportunity to ask another staff member for olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette for our baked bread. He came back and made a little small talk, fondly reminiscing how his former restaurant would serve the same sauces with their bread. My mom also got a birthday card with a printed message and signatures from the staff. The restaurant provided a simply elegant ambience. While entering the indoor seating area, we passed an exhibition kitchen and table displaying various desserts. Customers generally wore semi-formal clothing, and the restaurant recommends business-casual attire. A pianist played various songs and tunes to make for a fancy yet calm atmosphere. I especially enjoyed how the pianist played "Clair de lune." It felt nice to experience a rare moment of hearing classical music played inside a restaurant. What's most frustrating is that the menu never changes -- it's been the same for years. We keep coming for the room and leaving disappointed by the plate. I hope they refresh the menu with fresh, simply-prepared dishes, because the setting deserves food to match. Until then, I'd come for a drink and the view more than the meal.
