The last time I reviewed was for the take home family meals during the covid era. I wanted to make a review about how much fun we are having each month at the Vinyl Brunch. We love bringing in our records for the dj to play. He is wonderful! Kim, Glenn, and staff are the best. Service is always with a big smile. We feel like family here. Ambiance is gorgeous. The weather has been beautiful for outdoor brunch. We love the pigs in a blanket. We also love the breakfast burritos, omelets, potatoes, Benedicts, pesto eggs, and more! The pancakes are out of this world fluffy and delicious. I typically do not care for breakfast sausage, however the one they use here is crazy delicious. Its such good quality and I wish I could eat it every day haha. The salmon pesto benedict is also a unique take on the dish. The sangria is spectacular. We showed up right as they open. We were greeted with "we are closing early today". Out waitress (thinking owner too) took forever to take our orders, and forever to get our coffee and food. The service was overall horrible. I had to go inside 3 times to ask for our ketchup and sauce, the lady was arguing with someone over the phone, didn't even acknowledge me. The main hostess/waitress during our visit who is a middle aged blonde woman was rude. She routinely checked on other tables who arrived WELL AFTER my gf and i whereas we only got serviced when she took our order and brought our food out. We also ordered mimosas and one had a fly in the drink upon arrival. When I had quietly & privately asked if she could get me a new one she said "okay" and left. Her tone the entire time was disheartening. Neither my gf and i were expecting excellent and 100% perfect service but to she her actively shifting tone and attitude right in front of us was incredibly rude. I must admit, we were headed to Hildago's but when I looked at the menu here, my mind switched to American breakfast. This place was good, I'm glad we decided to stay. I had a nice, big breakfast and my Husband had lunch which was also pretty tasty. The coffee was good, too, not your typical barely warm cafe coffee. Today they were having Vinyl Brunch which was just a bonus as we got to listen to some good music brought by others and the DJ. The music wasn't too loud, it was just perfect. Cute place located in the Villa del Sol. My parents have gone a few times and asked if I wanted to join them for breakfast (and who is a college student to say no?). Waited outside for a few minutes to be seated inside. Got our drink orders taken and then it took a bit for our food orders to be taken. Eventually a waitress came (we gotten taken care of by a waitress and a waiter, seems like they switch off roles) and took our orders. Both staff members were kind. Food was good. I finished it all. Eggs were over-easy but somehow was a bit undercooked. I get the hype for the potatoes! I'm not a potato person and these were quite good. I do have to agree with the other reviews saying this place could use some major TLC. It seemed busy for the Sunday morning but I feel like there's so much potential here if they redo the inside. The vibe is also intimate (which isn't a bad thing) but when you're sitting next to the kitchen and can hear the cooks and waiters being a bit rude to each other, it's a bit off-putting. Overall, I'd give this around a 3.5/5. Im sure I'll come back with my family but it's not somewhere I'd frequent with friends because I prefer some of the other establishments in the area. read more

One of the nicest spots in Downtown Fullerton. Tucked in the old California Hotel building courtyard, this is a great spot for breakfast and lunch. My friend and I both had soup on a cool day. It was my first time there. Great place to wander and digest when full. The mushroom soup was so very good! The mushrooms were fresh, the cream base was spot on and the surprise of some melty and rich parmesan cheese in the bowl was a delicious bonus. My friend had the rustic tomato soup, which is apparently her regular there, was also a flavorful bowl. Both were served with some french bread which was great for dipping. The coffee was also delicious and poured often. Next time, I may try some of their other interesting grilled cheese sandwich varieties. But, it will be hard not to go for the fabulous soup. We visited this place this morning and unfortunately had a really disappointing experience. We requested to sit outside (there was plenty of open seating), but the waitress told us we had to sit inside just in case other customers wanted the outdoor tables. Even more bizarre, she said our kids would have to sit separately from us if we wanted to be outside. That alone set the tone for a strange visit. We ended up sitting inside, which was a mistake. The interior smelled strongly of sewage and stagnant water. It was visibly dirty, and my chair was literally falling apart--loose threads kept brushing my legs. Not exactly the environment you want to eat in. When the waitress came over to deliver drinks, she asked if the kids were ready to order. We said yes and that we were all ready to order, she then told us we had to wait because there were "two tables ahead of us" and then turned and walked away. Mind you, this wasn't a particularly busy day. We were the only table seated inside and there were maybe 4 tables seated outside. To top it off, the food and drinks were not worth it. A basic black coffee cost $5--ridiculously overpriced--and my eggs came undercooked. Overall, it was a really uncomfortable and unpleasant dining experience. We won't be back. read more

First timer here...nice location in the Villa Del Sol courtyard. Decided to eat outside, quiet, peaceful although inside looked equally nice. Menu isn't huge, but my friend who I was with says everything she's had is excellent. As someone who usually makes his own breakfast I can appreciate someone who does it well. Glen, co-owner and chef made my "make your own omelet" really well. Despite the heavier ingredients, ham, cheddar, avocado (and spinach) it was light, and very delicious. It comes with well seasoned potatoes and choice of toast. Here's the best part, both co-owners spent time with us table side. Warm, friendly, and local. When you think about the major chains that give you industrial supply chain food (at least that what it tastes like to me) it's so refreshing to have a wonderful meal, in a quiet setting prepared by sweet people. This place is terrible! This was my first time here and boy was it my last! They have no hostess the waiters are the ones to seat you. They pass by and don't greet you and you're just waiting around. When I was finally seated they said it would be about 30 mins for food because they were backed up. I asked for coffee and waited about 15 mins before I was even able to place my order only to be told there was a party of 15 inside so it would take even longer to get food. At that point I just asked for my check and left. If your kitchen can't keep up you shouldn't be taking in large groups of people. And at some point you need to turn people away. I ordered soup from here for pickup, on the phone call itself the service was okay and I was told food would be ready 10-15 minutes. Once I arrived, I could tell they completely disregarded my order and barely put it in once I arrived for pick up. It took another 25 min for my food to be out, and meanwhile I was waiting none of the waiters/waitresses didn't mind to check up on me, I could tell they were trying to avoid eye contact with me. Saturday afternoon, only maybe 3 other tables and received the most random service. Took about 10 mins to be asked what our drink order was. After dropping two waters, never to be refilled even after the food came out it took another 5-10 to take a two plate order. Both items came out with issues. Omlete had 3 of 4 items inside and served with dry toast, no offering of butter. We confirmed by the items listed on the recipet that it seems the server didn't account for the 4 items selected. The most random experience as both I and the table sat near by ordered blueberry "special" pancakes, and what was served was plain pancakes topped with raw blueberry. Maybe 10 total blueberries with three random raw blueberries tossed between the two plain pancakes. I thouhht maybe they forgot and just threw them on top, when I overheard the table next to me being handed more raw blueberries as the server said not sure what happened so I just brought you more on the side I brought to his attention my pancakes are as well just regular pancakes he replied let me go talk to the cook. To return with our check and nothing else. No apology. No solution, or even maybe, offering to charge us for the regular pancakes we received. Nope, just dropped a bill and said nothing. It's very awkward. Still charged for special pancakes that are exactly the same as plain, however, up charged for the raw berries. Would they top the chocolate chip pancakes with cold chocolate chips? And if it is unclear why the server told me he would go talk to the cook and not even offer to remake after noticing, nothing was touched. No, not even acknowledged. He just dropped a check and asked if you want a box for those pancakes? I've managed restaurants for over 15 years and I honestly wanted to coach the sever how to handle that situation better in the future because honestly was awkward for everyone involved and advising you'll go talk to a cook doesn't fix the order unless it's remade and to simple not address it and drop a check was a bit rude and avoiding correcting a simple issue. If a plate is wrongly entered into the pos then thats one issue, and hey it was, but if the item on the plate isnt correct simply leaving it as is would be charging for good and services not rendered and honestly is the most annoying part about this and what created this review Overall, I am still hungry and highly dissatisfied by the response to Honestly food is okay, nothing special but service last two times going here has been a major disappointment, and if you are going to say special pancakes only to place 10 raw blueberries on top of pancakes maybe reword the menu as I highly doubt they would last on the menu long as nobody would order raw blueberries on pancakes as raw blueberries have at times a sour off-putting taste. Uhh, it pains me to write this review. We come to Southern California about once a year and when we are in Fullerton this is our first stop. We have came here the past 6 years and it was the best breakfast, we loved it. There is an awesome courtyard that has beautiful flowers and soft music, it's so nice that they welcome pets, we brought our mini Schnauzer "Hazel" there is seating inside and outside, it's so beautiful we always choose outside. Ok here goes, we waited way to long to be seated, it wasn't that busy . When we did get seated we were promptly brought some nice cold water , very refreshing, 10 minutes later we were brought menus then 15 minutes more and our order was taken , 25 minutes after that our food came and they were out of biscuits so they gave me a English muffin and gravy, the eggs were cold, the bacon was cold, even the English muffin was cold and the potatoes were cold. It seemed like it was an inconvenience for our waitress to come to our table, that was disappointing, my wife's food was the same, she did say the fruit was good. If I could give this experience a zero or negative I would. We will be back next year and we will try it again maybe, we are looking to Yelp to find a new breakfast spot, cannot recommend at this time. read more

Went for a girl's brunch on a Saturday. No one in our party was impressed by the food. It didn't look like they were open.

Brownstone has been in business for years, and has a good location downtown. In order to keep staying in business, however, improvements to food and service need to be made. There was one waitress, and two people in the kitchen. They are understaffed, however, our waitress was rude, and it took them 40 minutes to bring out our food, when they were not busy. In addition, the food was not good. $13.00 for a sauce container size fruit bowl, and a burnt and dry croissant. The courtyard is a beautiful setting, however, save your money, get better food, and have better service elsewhere. I recommend Early Bird though you'll have to grab a spot before they get packed. Mulberry Street and Realto have great settings, food, and service as well. Hope to see improvements in the future! read more

This place has such a cute location, it's a little difficult to find but it's so precious. It is very small and there are only so many people working there so I wouldn't recommend larger parties than 5 to dine. I got the cinnamon stuffed French toast it was my favorite and the breakfast burrito was just ordinary but still good! My favorite part of this place was their little desert plate that I saw another table getting. There were a variety of pasties being offered and they looked so delicious! This place isn't that expensive and is a great place to go to.
