It's no secret my favorite part of breakfast out is when you take a bit of everything you've ordered, especially the eggs and hash browns, and just mix it into a great jumble. It's kind of like a skillet, except you have full control of how much of each items goes into it. Normally I don't like a ton of gravy in this ritual, but something about the gravy and sausage at Paul's Country Kitchen made this Grand Finale especially delicious. I mean--the Char's Country Plate was good in itself. I've had something similar at the nearby Mr. D's with its two sausage patties on a biscuit covered in gravy along with eggs and hash browns. I think the version at Paul's was a bit better. Every bite was a delight. But I think the best bites were reserved when I got that bit a sausage and gravy into the mix with the hash browns and perfectly cooked eggs. Grand Finales are usually a joy, but this one was especially joyous. Also, noticeable was the great service here. I found the servers personable and discerning. They managed to give out good recommendations, answer any questions about the offerings, and still hold good conversation. That's rare at any food joint you go to. Not only that, they held down the fort when it came to refills, getting my order out quickly, and dropping the bill off when it came time. The personal touch here is impeccable. Lastly, the ambience is great here. The space is kind of limited, but they had plenty of booths and tables, 2-tops and 4-tops, and counter space. Everything was decorated brightly without seeming gaudy, and it gave off a welcoming feeling that is traditional with all local diners. I wouldn't mind eating in a place like this regularly. In conclusion, I think I found a new place to have breakfast. Not only that, I think I found a new place to recommend to others when I want to point out what makes a good diner/coffee shop. read more

What can I say we're creatures of habit. Once again my husband had a craving for chicken fried steak and the first pace he always think of is Two Sisters aka Paul's Country Kitchen. They are not subtle about their Red State pride. Adorning the walls are American Flags and a large assortment of objects bearing its colours. There are also unapologetic displays of their Christian faith. The two ideas are merged in a truly tasteful crucifix bearing the Stars and stripes just above the cash register. Also of note is the "Don't Tread On Me" sign attached to the refrigerator. The only thing this place is missing is a Confederate Flag. Some might find it tacky, others might find it patriotic and devoutly Christian. The staff are incredibly welcoming, and always swinging around the tables to refill your coffee or just to check up on customers. The restaurant feels a little cramped, but it's very clean and the aforementioned decor gives the place a unique personality in Orange County. There's a lot of laughing and smiles, that overall good vibes in the dining area. The food itself is very good. The omelette I had was delicious, and the coffee was okay. The prices are fairly reasonable too. Next time I come there I'll have to try the French toast. If you're an old Lefty like me, don't dismiss this place out of hand. Yes, the restaurant looks like it came from a Conservative wet dream. I oddly find it has a certain charm. It's been a while since my first review here, so an update is in order :) Paul's still has the cozy, homey inside dining room, but now has expanded their outside seating with more tables and chairs ~ a great option when the weather is nice! Even sitting outside, service was great. Our food came out in a timely manner and our server made sure our coffee cups were kept full. We both ordered breakfast today. My friend's omelette with egg whites was beautiful and my chicken fried steak was delicious. It's great to be able to come here knowing that the food is consistently good and service is always friendly. read more

Paul's Country Kitchen looks like a very local favorite in Placentia. I came here after shopping at Trader Joe's and was looking for some tasty American breakfast. I came across Paul's and decided to give this place a try. I automatically fell in love with how they made the inside and the patio, with tons of decorations that really make you feel like you are in America. The menu has a vast variety of options. I picked something off of the house favorites which was named Tijuana Treat! It has three eggs and is filled with ground beef, tomatoes, onions, sour cream, and cheese. Overall whatever they did it was good! I ate the whole thing!! So if you are looking for delicious diner style food this is the spot with friendly service. read more

Service was great. Packed lil restaurant on strip mall. Seemed to be a lot regulars at this place. Parking is good. They have daily specials. The coffee was light for me. They are attentive to all patrons. My order was Debbie's special 2 pancakes, 1 egg 2 bacon/sausage. I ordered a side of toast. Pancakes were decent and flavor of vanilla.However the butter they use is margarine. It doesn't melt. There was a hefty coating it just sits on top of of whatever item it is put on. Therefore that was my low rating. We ordered oatmeal as well and the fresh fruit was partial fresh they also added canned peaches.I would probably not be back not my taste but give it a shot it might be something else you like. Never even knew this place existed until snagging a drink at the new Better Buzz near by.. Took the family hoping for an excellent breakfast, but sadly it was a let down... I will note that the service was excellent! A complete five stars to their team for the friendly, helpful, and prompt service. It was a busy Saturday morning but no family was left hanging.. Where I drop to three stars is the food. The presentation will get you, but you wont find a match with taste. The plates come out so perfectly decorated with their fine breakfast choices. Large fluffy pancakes, tasty looking bacon and sausage. Even the eggs looked satisfying, all yellow and funky. Unfortunately our table unanimously agreed the food had no flavor. Everything was so bland, couldn't even be saved with the salt/pepper, jellies, syrup, etc. I hate to break it, but the food fits the taste buds of a certain crowd, but we aren't there.. For my plate, the peaches were probably the only half decent part, but those were simply poured into a bowl from a can.. With some enhancements to the flavor, this place would have so many more people leaving satisfied. Until then, I donated $90 to an uncomfortable meal.. Our friendly and quick server was Garrett who met us with a smile.. We split a Sunday only omelette with avocado and bacon, substitute hashbrowns for fruit and coffee. Food arrived, hot and quickly. The food was good, the service was great, and the pricing is what it is these days. I had the Country Breakfast (biscuits topped with sausage patties and gravy, country fried potatoes), and my date had the steak and eggs (I got her pancake!) with sliced tomatoes instead of the potatoes. The steak was a little plain with no sear marks but was properly cooked to medium and had good flavor. They don't have horseradish available if you like that on your steak. The Country Breakfast was plenty good and plenty of it. With the added pancake, I could only eat hslf and took the rest home for breakfast another day. The gravy was the right temperature to eat without burning my mouth, the eggs and patties were warm enough, and the coffee was hot. But the service here was nothing short of excellent. Great at greeting, taking the order, delivery of everything, a little conversation about the place, delivering the check, everything was with a smile.
