We were genuinely excited to finally try Loaded Cafe after driving past it so many times and seeing it all over social media. Unfortunately, this ended up being one of those places where the hype set expectations that the actual experience just didn't meet. We finally had a free Saturday to give it a shot and were quoted around a 30-minute wait that ended up being closer to 45. The waiting area is surprisingly small for how busy the restaurant gets, so we spent a good portion of that time outside waiting for some space to open up. There were definitely some highlights. The cold coffees we tried were good, and the complimentary conchas were honestly amazing. They come from the attached panadería, and they were easily one of the best parts of our visit. For breakfast, everyone ordered something different and I went with the Strawberry Banana Nutella Concha after seeing it countless times on Instagram. Visually, it absolutely delivers. Unfortunately, the flavor didn't. The eggs and potatoes seemed to have little to no seasoning, and the bacon was...bacon, nothing noteworthy. The Strawberry Banana Nutella Concha was the biggest letdown. With a combination of concha French toast, strawberries, banana, and Nutella, I expected this thing to be packed with flavor. Somehow, it was surprisingly bland. Considering this was the dish that had originally convinced me to visit, that was especially disappointing. Overall, Loaded Cafe photographs extremely well, but based on our visit, the breakfast itself was only passable and certainly not worth a 45-minute wait. The attached panadería, however, is another story. If I were in the area craving pan dulce, I'd happily stop there for some conchas and a coffee. Maybe we caught the restaurant on an off day, but next time we're nearby, we'll probably skip the breakfast, visit the panadería instead, and save the long wait for a more memorable meal. read more

Wow, I dropped in after seeing all those amazing ads on Instagram. Didn't realize they closed the dining section (Loaded Cafe is a restaurant in the morning and stays open until 9pm for the bakery section) when I arrived at almost 3pm for a late brunch. I just had a quick bite at the Bellflower location after a long morning waiting on my vehicle getting serviced and repaired. I been wanting to try Loaded Cafe for a while so this quick visit / review will not do any justice to the great reputation! The exterior I thought was very plain and dated. The interior decor was not as colorful as I had expected. My server was friendly and helpful. I had ordered a simple meal of plain crepes, sausage & sunny side eggs ($12.99). I honestly hate having to write this review, but I would hate it even more if someone else had the same experience I did. I ordered the Crunchy Asada Chilaquiles, which are advertised as one of their best sellers. When the dish arrived, the chilaquiles did not look appetizing at all, but I tried not to judge based on appearance alone. Unfortunately, the taste matched the presentation. I'm a huge chilaquiles fan and try them everywhere I can, and sadly these were the worst I've had. The ingredients just didn't work well, and the flavors were unpleasant enough that I couldn't finish the meal. I also ordered a Mazapan Latte and I couldn't finish that either. The latte tased like straight milk with creamer, no hint of Mazapan. What made the experience even more disappointing was something that happened during our visit. I dined here on January 7, just a few days after Día de los Reyes. When we walked in, I noticed every table had a rosca de reyes, which I love. I assumed it was either something you could order or perhaps a complimentary item. Our table was given a small basket of mini pan dulce, so I thought maybe that had replaced the rosca for the day. However, shortly after we sat down, another table was seated and they were served a rosca. I asked them if they had ordered it or if it was complimentary, and they told me it was complimentary. At that point I realized our table had not been offered the same thing. I want to be clear that I can't say with certainty why this happened, but it left me feeling uncomfortable and wondering if assumptions were made about our table. I'm a light-complexioned Mexican dining with a Caucasian friend, and it felt strange that we were the only table not offered the same specialty item during a cultural holiday. WE WERE BEING DISCRIMINATED! How is it that us, the only table with Caucasian-presenting appearance were the only table that were given mini pan Dulce (the regular complimentary appetizer) instead of the specialty Rosca De Reyes all the other tables with Hispanic-appearing-guests were served. That does not sit right with me. DO NOT MAKE ASSUMPTIONS BASED ON APPEARANCES. I may seem Caucasian but I am 100% Mexican and I love Rosca De Reyes, and wanted my friend to try a Rosca, so I asked another server (ours was on break) if we too could have a Rosca and he brought one out to us. Because of the food and this experience, I don't see myself returning. Loaded itself only has inside seating with a modest amount of booths and booth/table combos. Staffing seemed to be minimal, but everyone was friendly and accommodating. They checked on us regularly to ask how the food was and to provide refills on our drinks. My daughter ordered the crunchy asada chilaquiles and I ordered their strawberry almond cheesecake crepes as a combo (adding eggs, hashbrowns, and sausage). The flavor for the chilaquiles was perfect, but the meat was on the chewy side. The combo portion of my meal was standard and hit the spot. We ended up sharing the crepes, which were a nice, dessert-like finish to our meal. It looked like it had been under the heat lamp for quite some time. The veggie scramble was actually very tasty and I was so thankful because of how long it took to get it. 07 02 2026 - - - Loaded Cafe: Redemption Served - Well... after the spectacular train wreck that was my last visit, I figured everyone deserves a second chance. So after my shift this morning, I rolled back into Loaded Cafe with cautious optimism... and a healthy dose of side-eye. I'm happy to report this visit was much better. Nice and Clean. Staff attentive, once they saw that I was there. The coffee hit the spot, and they brought out a fresh concha that was soft, warm, and exactly what it should be. My only complaint? One concha? That's just rude. At least two should come with coffee. I'm pretty sure that's somewhere in the Constitution. Then came the French toast, and it absolutely redeemed itself. Thick, fluffy, buttery, and exactly what I was hoping for after a long morning. No complaints there. The best part, though, was getting to chat with the new manager. It's refreshing to see someone who genuinely seems to care about improving the experience. That conversation gave me hope that my previous visit was the exception, not the rule. So here's to second chances. This visit earned one. I'm rooting for the team to keep heading in this direction because I'd love for no one else to experience the epic breakfast fail I had just a month ago. This time around: worth the stop.
