My wife and I eat at Rodrigo on special occasions. It is a bit too expensive for everyday eating. Here are some pros and cons. Pros: Chips and salsa are excellent both are always fresh. The restaurant is clean and has plenty of parking. Service is fast I saw complaints from a few years ago, that the portions are two small. That is not the case now. A one item combo is plenty. Monday through Friday lunch specials are a good buy. Cons: No one can accuse Rodrigo's of being authentic. Everything I have ordered is Americanized. A coworker born in Mexico who often would pit barbecue a goat ate there once and complained for weeks. It is a bit pricy to visit often. Save it for special occasions. Will we cont bye to eat there? We grabbed lunch at Rodrigo's, which proved to be the day's right choice. Within a few minutes, we were seated and promptly brought a bowl of light, salty, warm crunchy tortillas served with a tomato and onion salsa. The most important thing I'm reviewing is they always have some sort of margarita special. It's always something tropical like banana or pineapple. They do not use coconut in these drinks! I hate coconut and I love coming to this place because I know if I order a fruit drink it is the fruit that I asked for! My work group comes here every couple of months. There's about 12 of us and we all get separate checks. We are courteous enough to get there at 4 o'clock and eat quickly before the rush. They are always super great about everything. Good thing: My margarita was tasty.. that's the only thing that I had positive about my experience on Cinco de Mayo. I made reservations on Yelp in advance and showed up. "sorry, it's an additional 30 mins till we can seat you." Ok. 50 mins later, it's time to be seated. Came for a work lunch and it was delicious. The free chips and salsa are really good here, fresh warm chips. Continuous refills on water and chips. Fast and friendly service. I ordered the Shrimp Fajita Burrito ($23.49) and it was very satisfying. It comes with quacamole and the sour cream was $1.00. It was the same thing as last time, but why mess with perfection. They have a Lunch Express menu $11.99 from 11am-4pm. There's some great stuff on there, but I really wanted the shrimp burrito. What a complete and utter let down. Our family has enjoyed this restaurant for years. Unfortunately quality and service has been lacking since the name change. This evening was the deal breaker for our loyalty and choice for Mexican. The food we ordered was subpar, the size of a taco has shrunk and the burrito is comparable to a breakfast burrito from McDonald's. As for the complimentary chips, no more, policy change. Been here a few times with friends and to treat my dad out on a Sunday morning. I have always had great service and waiters are always providing great and fast service. Parking lot is huge so no worries on trying to find a parking. It does get a little busy for happy hour and on Sunday mornings once everyone is out of church. The restaurant itself is pretty clean and the decor is refreshing. I usually order the taco plate with rice and beans or the carne asada plate to make my own tacos. Food is pretty good and everything has a great taste. Portions are pretty big and I always have to take leftovers home with me. Overall, great place to enjoy lunch, a weekend breakfast, or dinner. As I've said it before I will say it again I am a huge Mexican food fan and when in California I have to try and find the best Mexican and my family said this was the best. We were out celebrating my uncle's 92nd birthday and when I saw there was Mole on the menu I had to try. Upon the first bite I knew the choice I made was the right one. The flavors were incredible and I wish I could bottle it and take it home with me to Florida. I truly understand why my aunt and uncle visit Rodrigo's on the regular. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. The service was great last night, but the food is always different. The tacos are terrible last time. The taco was so soggy. I've been coming to this restaurant since it was Ricardo's. A couple of the guys that buss tables have been here for 15 plus years. Tonight we experienced the worst customer service by our server, Hugo and the manager on duty wasn't any better when we voiced our concerns. We arrived around 7:50 pm and asked if we could sit on the opposite side of the bar. The hostess went to check and came back and led us to our table. It took approximately 15 minutes before Hugo took our drink and food order. Twenty minutes later we overheard the gentleman that busses the tables ask the manager where our food was and he said that's Hugo's table and to ask him. 15 minutes later the same manager brings our food and no surprise, it's cold. Hugo comes over and we said it was cold. He said they would remake it and 10 minutes later comes out with the same food, now burnt because they just put it on top of a hot plate instead of remaking it. At this point, we asked Hugo for a manager. The "manager" the same guy who the buss boy asked where our food was and the one who ultimately brought it out later was unapologetic and said that's why you shouldn't have sat on this side, it's closed insinuating that it's our fault. The hostess never said that side is closed. There were a few others dining there. He said he'd remake it and asked if we wanted it. At this point it had been 40 minutes and we chose to get up and leave. This is not the same restaurant I grew up coming to. Service and food has slowly gone down hill. read more

I use to come here all the time as a kid and it was delicious. After COVID the food and service went downhill. My family and I decided to try it out again and they're very skimpy with the food. If you order the fajitas ask for light vegetables because they'll fill your plate with onions with only 3 small pieces of meat. On top of that the waiter wouldn't come back to our table at all I had to go to the bar to ask for water and limes after I asked the waiter 3 times. When we were done eating my dad paid in cash and left a tip on the table. My family and I were waiting outside on the benches while my grandpa used the restroom and the waiter Hugo ran outside telling my dad he had to pay for the food. Another great experience at Rodrigo's. We noticed their menu has been updated, but from what I can tell the offerings remained mostly the same. I opted for the Tostada Fajita salad. I wish it had shredded lettuce rather than Romain, and didn't love the dressing they covered it in. I would order again but sub these two things. I also think they served me the Tostada Grande, because I did not have any actual fajitas in the salad. But didn't realize that until I looked back at the photo. Came here for the first time yesterday, unfortunately I forgot to take any pictures of anything. I was celebrating a friend's birthday and was "in the moment". Food: I had the taco plate, came with rice and refried beans. It was not the greatest but also not worst I've ever had. The taco was hard shell which was a nice surprise. Drink: I ordered a jalapeño margarita, it was decent, though not super spicy. It had enough kick to feel it but not too much where it wasn't drinkable. They are small though, and imo overpriced at $15 each. Ambiance: inside they had ofrenda decor. Not sure if it's for Halloween or if it's all year round, but it was cute. Service: average. Seafood chalupa salad is the greatest salad I've had in my life. Always get great service here and it's a family friendly environment. Worst restaurant service ever, so bad that it triggered my return back to writing reviews on Yelp. Our group arrived at 6:30, we put in our orders at 7:30 although I spent 25 minutes looking for our waiter. Yes, our waiter was missing for 25 minutes, not sure what he was doing because I didn't see him taking orders or running any plates, he was just missing. And it's not as if you can get help from anyone else, all the wait staff look straight ahead when walking around in the restaurant. I wanted more chips and salsa and tried to catch the eye of anyone, this waiter was walking by and I was giving him a death stare but nope kept on looking ahead like he was on an urgent duty to find the cure for cancer. Finally I tapped him on his arm and asked for chips and salsa, I never got them. My carne asada came and it was medium well, I ordered medium rare. Told the waiter and he said he would tell the kitchen. He offered to take it back and I said no because I generally do not send food back to the kitchen. Then I realized that my corn tortillas never came. Neck crane was real as I kept on looking for the waiter or anyone but no one walked by, not a runner or a janitor. Finally, I got up and went to the back and asked a runner for corn tortillas, he said he would get them for me. That's when the waiter rushed up and said he would get them for me and I said it was ok the other guy was getting them for me. I was going to wait for the tortillas there but the waiter told me I couldn't be back there so I went back to the table. Waited, waited, I saw the runner go back to the kitchen to get corn tortillas, for some reason, I didn't think it would take that long to get warm corn tortillas. The waiter brought me the tortillas and I told him service was really bad. At this point, you would think the guy would try to improve, but no he was MIA again. I have been wanting to go to Rodrigo's Grill for the longest time to try the food and since El Torito has caught fire I decided that last night was the night. I walked in and noticed the pretty plants and flowers it looked like a secret garden. I ordered the chicken enchiladas plate and my husband had the Fajitas the chips and salsa came out and right away I was disappointed as it tasted like it was from a jar. Not a big deal for me because I was hungry. The food came out looking very good and smelling good however as I began to eat it tasted as though nothing had been seasoned. Plain steak plain chicken plain everything. The rice was undercooked and had no chicken bouillon in it. Just a huge let down. my grandma and I came to this location because the Rodrigo's near our house is getting an update. we both got a fajita burrito with a margarita, though I got one because I didn't think that my grandma was going to get one and she was the driver. not entirely sure what she was thinking when she also ordered a margarita, but when they came here, they were really good! This is not a negative, but it feels like they had a little bit more alcohol than usual. it was to a point that my grandma actually couldn't drink it because she was the driver, and I had to drink both of them myself. Let's say that I was having a pleasant experience, and had to take a really long nap when I got back to her house. I almost ended up spending the night if I didn't wake up after 2 hours! The staff was really friendly and accommodating, and they were also really nice. I also enjoy the decor of this place, as it feels a lot brighter and friendlier than the other locations we've been to. I hope when my Rodrigo's finally gets its upgrade, that it'll look more like this one! read more
