We have been coming here for over a year. Football games, Fun Day Sunday and Saturday Night Dinners. ANY occasion works! Customer service is top notch. Employees are friendly, happy & take care of customers. We enjoy the happy hour at the bar. Great specials and games on tvs. The New York strip and Spaghetti dinner items are delicious! I know! I dined here this morning for brunch and when I walked in the front there was no one to greet me. I walked around the place trying to find my group of friends who were already there and sat down at their booth. The waitress was nice and took our order but when my water came it tasted like water poured from a plastic bottle that had been sitting in the hot sun. The water had a plastic sort of chemical taste to it so I decided to order a strawberry lemonade only to find that that drink also had the same weird taste. I thought maybe it's just me so I had my friend sip both the water and strawberry lemonade. She told me she too tasted what I was describing. I had the chorizo eggs which were good but man.. those drinks were awful!!! read more

Nice little diner near the circle in Old Town Orange. I was here for breakfast. I ordered the Diner Combo with coffee. Diner Combo is 2 eggs, 2 bacon and sausage and 2 pancakes. Very disappointing experience. We were hit with a $22 large party charge for our group (4 adults, a 4-year-old, and a 1-year-old) and were never told ahead of time, it just appeared on the bill. That feels sneaky. Service was cold and unfriendly. I didn't even feel comfortable asking for anything. The place was dirty, crumbs on the booth, dirty floors and restroom, and the outside needs a serious cleaning. For the prices they charge, the cleanliness and service should be much better. Food wasn't worth it either. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

They make no effort to accommodate for food allergy. It was breakfast 10:00 am - no wait to be seated. Told they were too busy to make sure eggs, hashbrowns and pancake did not contain garlic ( allergy). I highly doubt any of those are an issue, but manager said they " couldn't guarantee it, in fact, they recommend we don't eat there" Wouldn't clean a space on griddle, which takes 30 seconds? My family owns restaurants, we were shocked. Zero stars. Turned out great- we went to Pancake House and had a fabulous breakfast! read more

Called ahead asking if they could handle party of 12 and 5 checks they said no problem. We finish our meal and Francisco the manager suddenly gives us whole bill after we ate saying everyone had to pay together and we should just not come back. Since the server made my mom cry , I dont think that's going to be a problem. I asked who the owner was and they said Francisco is it. If that is true.....they aren't going to last long treating customers like this. Such a shame we loved Katrina as our server but didn't have her tonight. Goodbye Woodys. I have been going to this location for a few years now. I go almost once a week, often for breakfast on Sunday's. it is a local diner with reasonable prices and good menu options. staff is very friendly, even when it tends to get busy. staff is very patient as well. as far as atmosphere, I havent had a bad experience. there is outdoor seating, bar seating, table, and booth seating. if you want a local friendly diner, this is a spot I would recommend. also shout out to Francisco who is always very friendly and attentive. read more

KATRINA served me and my girlfriend today on the patio, she was so attentive, kind and warm hearted. Breakfast was what you would expect at a diner, and I enjoyed it, especially the biscuits and gravy. However, service was slow and when the biscuits and gravy were brought out they had chopped bacon on top. I asked if I could get it without bacon because it never occurred to me, you would serve it with bacon. It took a full 10 minutes to bring out one biscuit with gravy. It was good though. Oh and I ordered their fresh squeezed orange juice and only discovered after I got it and upon asking, that it isn't fresh squeezed. The server said maybe it was at one time and I said well you should update the menu. I never would've ordered it if it wasn't fresh squeezed. read more

Located on the corner of Chapman and Shaffer (across the street from St. John's). Parking lot has plenty of parking spaces. Came here for the first time with family today. Fun, dim lit diner atmosphere. There is a bar area inside too. We sat in the back of the restaurant in a nice, large booth. The women's restroom was clean and roomy. They are private restrooms though. There was a line to use the restroom because of this. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Food was delicious. Prices are fairly reasonable. Old and stale. That's how I will describe Woody's Diner. From the food to the environment. Old and stale. I ordered corn beef and hash. It had a stale unpleasant aftertaste to it. The home fries which is cut potatoes mixed with bell peppers and onion was the same. I don't know what they did to the potatoes but they had an unpleasant aftertaste as well. They must precooked the potatoes early in the morning or the previous day then reheat them for breakfast. I need to go home and brush my teeth and was my mouth out with scope. Even the coffee was stale. On a 1 to 10 stale... I mean scale with 10 being best I give the food and environment a 4. Stale, Stale, Stale. Woody's Stale Diner. Stopped in for breakfast. The service was very slow and it seemed like forever to come by and take my order. I ordered the bacon and eggs over easy and got bacon and eggs. Almost hard boiled. Not very good if you like over easy eggs. Also asked for crispy potatoes and they came out almost not cooked. So to wrap it up, my breakfast wasn't very good and the service wasn't very good. 2nd time back since relocating to Cali. The first time they were understaffed and my fries were not well done or crispy and lacked flavor, so I left pretty sad because it wasn't the woody's I had remembered 3 years ago. It was a hectic day and service was extra long than usual sitting in the outside back area. Then today-We went for brunch same time as last on a busy Sunday & let's just say they redeemed themselves. While slow yes and we had to ask for silverware the food was by far better, and tasted as I had remembered it. Quite flavorful, nice size brunch portions, and cooked as breakfast should be. Everyone left full, satisfied and enjoyed their food this go around! If you go expect it to be awhile, esp on Sunday after church. Maybe because we sat inside this time or they just had a better day. Will return soon and see if it can be consistent to today's quality of food. If it's more consistent in quality then will add more stars read more

My grandpa always likes taking us here for some reason. The food tastes good, but there's a trashy waitress who's always rude. That snake didn't let us know that they factored a tip into the total amount we paid, so we ended up giving her an extra tip. Avoid the tattooed server like the plague. I've only come here once and it was to get a veggie burger last year. I got it via takeout. I've lived in Orange since the 70's. So this whole area is very familiar to me - next to the library and maybe 3 or 4 blocks from the plaza.. This burger was rather good. I gave it a ranking of 9 out of 10. Incidentally, I had been coming to this building for many years since it used to be a Cocos. Cocos was my father's favorite restaurant- he used to the go to the one on Macarthur boulevard, which was near his work, which was U.C I, so I was very familiar with this Cocos, since I would occasionally come here. Coco's is not really around too much anymore. This building became a Greek place in between the Coco's and Woodys eras - it seemed to be called Gyro's (or something like that), but I never ate here when it was that restaurant. After the Greek restaurant, it became Woody's. Coming in here late this night to get the takeout gave me the opportunity to the see the inside of the place. My observation? Nice place for the style. The style seems to be of a sports bar. I must say many places of today are like this, so apparently this atmosphere of sports and beer and loudness (to be quite honest) must get people to come here. There are many TVs going with different games and events. I thought it would be like an oldies place like Ruby's which is what I like. I liked sports bars when I was younger (when there was a boxing match I wanted to watch). I suppose you change when you get older and you just want less loudness. but I love oldies music from the fifties and sixties, so it was a bummer when I came in and saw it as a sports bar. I love Woodys. my friends and I meet up there about once a month. there are so few of these places left to meet with friends and enjoy a nice lunch. They have many menu choices. something for everyone. The only complaint is the complimentary water they serve is terrible. I didnt say anything but then I heard someone else complain saying something is wrong with this water. I tried it each time I go in and it's got a funny taste that isn't good. that's the only reason I didn't give them a better rating. I might take my own water next time but I'll definitely go back for the food and friendly atmosphere karen read more

First, I will say the food was decent. Beyond that the experience was not great. We called ahead and let them know we would have a party of 10 on a Wednesday mid-morning, but they proceeded to cram us in a booth in the back that was super cramped and impractical for a group of older diners (very hard to get in and out). Our server was Lori and she seemed too busy with diners in the front and just didn't seem interested in our table (tip was automatic we were a bigger group). One order was requested to not have salsa/pico de gallo & when it came covered, not only was it hard to get someone to take it back, but it took over 15 minutes for the tacos to be replaced. They will not do separate checks and further they mishandled one of the groups credit cards (left it sitting in a public area). There did not seem to be any management and the staff really seemed more bothered then even slightly concerned. No recommendation from me, and I'll do my best to avoid Woody's in the future...Orange has too many fantastic restaurants to waste time here. read more

Large menu, plenty to chose from. Love their sandwich selections. I would not order Tostada salad again as I found it lacking in ingredients. Very little guacamole and sour cream and little light on beans and meat. Asked for more guacamole and was told their would be additional charge so I said no and let waiter know the amount given was not enough. I was not offered anything else. But I enjoy the vibe in this place. It's good ole Orange, a nice neighborhood warmth about it. Girl servers are nice. Burgers are good, onion rings good. read more
