Dinner was here last night with my babe. The parking situation is awkward, as it stretches around the building, but wasn't too much of an issue. The front and entrance area to the restaurant are well maintained and give me a rainforest cafe type feeling. We had a lime margarita and strawberry mixed margarita, both of which were very large and very good. Complimentary chips and salsa were served, and the waiter was very prompt with water refills and service. The ambience and dim lighting make for a relaxed atmosphere. I had an asada burrito and babe had a combination plate. Both of which were very large portioned and tasted great. Will be visiting again. read more

1 star -- Family-owned for decades, and this is how they treat a 30-year customer I've been coming to Moreno's for 30+ years -- family celebrations, graduations, work events, etc. I was here two weeks ago. Today I came in with family, ordered about 15 minutes after happy hour ended, and asked the waiter if they could still honor happy hour pricing because we were only a few minutes late and we're longtime regulars. He said he'd ask the manager. Fine. He came back and said no. I told him, half-joking, that's fine -- I'd talk to the manager when we were done. I did not demand she come to the table. I did not make a scene. Two minutes later a woman I'd never seen in three decades of eating here walks up in a confrontational tone: "Is there a problem here?" She is Linda, her family owns the place -- she made that clear -- and she was acting as manager. She then said a lot of people claim they've been coming for 30 years just to get a discount. She questioned whether I actually had, said she has never seen me before. She kept pushing after I tried to shut it down so we could finish lunch with family. Aggressive, condescending, and completely out of line for a drink-special question I was already prepared to drop. We offered to pay for the drinks and leave. She said she didn't want our money. Something about her father dying a year ago and he wouldn't take it either. A family that's run this restaurant for nearly half a century sent out a manager I'd never met to accuse a 30-year customer of lying over fifteen minutes on a happy hour price. That is not hospitality. That is not how you treat people who have spent decades celebrating here. I will never eat here again, neither will my family. The food as always was delicious and the service is very attentive. The ambiance of the outdoor patio is spectacular! The landscaping and potted plants do a great job of blocking out the outside world. I felt transported to Puerto Vallarta. We stopped at Moreno's on our way home because we were craving Mexican food and happened to see this place. The last time I had been here was during the pandemic in 2020, so it had been quite a while. I ordered the fajitas, but unfortunately, I was not very impressed. My partner ordered the carnitas and liked them, so his experience with the food was better than mine. Moreno's is known for its crunchy hard shell tacos, but we did not order those. I can definitely see how those might be good and possibly what we should have ordered. The restaurant itself is pretty, the location is convenient, and the drinks were fairly good. Based on what we ordered, however, the food was very mid. It was edible, but nothing really stood out. Overall, I probably would not come back. read more

3 Stars We had our celebration at Moreno's on September 21, 2026, at 3 PM, with a party of 35 people and a reserved portion of the patio. The ambience was beautiful, the food was really good, and we especially enjoyed the margaritas! Our servers were also amazing -- very attentive and helpful throughout the event. Unfortunately!!!! I'm giving 3 stars because of our experience with the manager. I never caught her name, but she was an older woman who we spoke with several times while planning our event. She consistently had a rude and dismissive attitude whenever we had questions over the phone. When we arrived to set up our table decorations, she also made the process more difficult than it needed to be. Thankfully, we didn't have much interaction with her during the actual event. We truly enjoyed the food, drinks, atmosphere, and our servers. Unfortunately! The manager's attitude really took away from what should have been a special experience. Nasty attitude! I haven't been here since the 1980s. Met a bunch of people there recently, and It was fun outside. That's where you want to be. Great atmosphere. Seems like everyone knows everyone. Food cames out at a decent time. I ordered the tostada because I was told it was like a big salad. I took half of it home. This happened to be on taco Tuesday. Next time, I'll try the tacos. Good waiters and waitresses. Thank you for a good experience. The only problem is I had a walk inside the restaurant and someone slammed the door handle into my hand. They are now delivering food to tables and they just took our drink order. The tea was delivered without ice. Warm. The We were seated at 11:00 on the dot. It is now 12:01 and our food was delivered... incorrectly. The wrong tacos, full price flour tostada (watery), I could go on and on. Now we are joking about how long will it take to get the bill. Been to this place a few times before. Really enjoy this place. The food is great and the drinks are really good too. Both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are great. Staff are friendly and professional but sometimes it's hit or miss. They can get pretty packed around lunch time. I also heard that they have a phenomenal taco-tuesday deal. Interior and exterior is very clean and exceptionally pleasant. Restrooms are decent . Prices are not too bad either. How this place is averaging 3 star is beyond me because everything was great. First the food tasted really good, I had the taco & tamale plate combo and the chicken enchilada. First the taco was excellent, I can't go to a Taco Bell or del taco anymore, I believe a hard shell ground beef taco should be packed with cheese and that is what this restaurant provided. It was full of flavor, packed with cheese, and crunchy. The tamale was also delicious, it was moist and had great flavor, which is a change because I've never had a moist tamale before until now, everywhere I've gone I've had a dry tamale. The enchilada was also delicious, the chicken was moist. For sure I would come back here as imo this is one of those places that is nostalgic to the area. read more

A dear friend of mine suggested we meet at Moreno's for Margaritas and catch up conversation. A gorgeous OC day was on tap so we each made the trip. The restaurant is surrounded by beautiful plants, wisteria, bougainvillea, and various palms and succulents. Sitting outdoors would have been lovely if it weren't for busy Chapman Ave. That didn't seem to deter the numerous guests who made that choice though. We opted for indoors in the quiet and A/C. Service was prompt and efficient. We tend to lean on the customize everything side of the menu, but the staff didn't skip a beat! The menu is extensive - if you can't find something you like, I'm sure there's something they can whip up for you. All the options you're used to in combos or a la cart. Margs were ice cold and delicious. Tacos, enchiladas and all the fixins tasted just like they came out of grandma's kitchen. The salsa didn't blow my hair back - it was tasty but didn't have any spicy heat that I love. Now this spot is quite a drive for me, but if I were in the area, I'd plan to visit again. If not for the beautiful setting, the service will win you over. Easy to find. Loads of parking. A terrific spot for groups, large tables and plenty of space outdoors. Possibly indoors too. We went for taco Tuesday I got one chicken and one ground beef taco. I barely finished the chicken taco and had to take the second one home. We went on taco Tuesday so the tacos were like $2.95 each. Such a great deal! We also got some refried beans to go with the chips. The service was ok. Nothing special. We sat in the patio and was amazing. The gardens surrounding the restaurant are beautiful. This one hurts my heart! We LOVE Moreno's. Been going here over 20 years. Tonight was awful. We just wanted a nice girls night out. Took us over 2 hours to complete our meal. Ordered 3 margaritas- all came out wrong and the wrong size- we didn't send them back cause they took over 20 minutes to come out. Asked for carrots 4 times- finally got them. There was not a large amount of people there tonight but the lack of service was so obviously. Took about 20 minutes just to get the check! We understand that a sometimes places get understaffed- but that needs to be communicated. Like hey guys sorry we are short a server tonight or a runner etc. NOTHING was communicated. Not we apologize for the delay etc. do better Morenos! We will continue to come and support but not sure when we will be back. read more

This place is STILL a great place to eat after all the years I have been coming here. It's a true pleasure when you get Chile Verde that is so flavorful and the pork is "melts in your mouth" tender" on the lunch special Tostada Grande. My sister got the Pollo Tostada Grande and it was SOOOO flavorful and tender also. Don't forget to ask for the Mexican carrots on the front end of the meal. read more

My family has been coming to Moreno's for years, and it has become a family tradition for us, which is why this is so disappointing. We are a large family and come here regularly, often weekly, so this is not based on a single bad experience. To be clear, this review is about one specific female staff member, not the restaurant or the rest of the staff as a whole. On three separate visits, the same employee has come to our table at the beginning of the meal and said something along the lines of, "I'm not your server, but I'll be helping out." The problem is that when we actually ask her for something simple, like drink refills or more chips, she repeatedly does not follow through. When we later mention that we never received what we asked for, there is no apology, no "I'll get that for you," and no effort to fix it. The response is basically "oh," and then she walks away. If this happened once, I would assume someone was busy or there was a misunderstanding. But after three different meals with the same employee and the same pattern, it honestly feels like our table is being blown off. That is especially frustrating because we have supported Moreno's for years and genuinely enjoy coming here as a family. It sucks to think a long-standing family tradition could come to an end because of repeated poor treatment from one staff member. I hope management addresses this, because we would much rather continue supporting Moreno's than feel like we need to stop coming over something that should be easily fixable. read more

What happened? It had been about a year since our last visit, and unfortunately things have changed -- not for the better. Our table of eight ordered eight different meals plus an appetizer, and not one person enjoyed their food. The best way to describe everything was mediocre. The fajitas were dry and lacked flavor, and the burritos were just as disappointing. In fact, everyone at the table described their meals the same way: dry and tasteless. Yummy tacos for taco Tuesday For Americanized tacos these are good! Good portion of meat, lettuce ratio and tomatoes. I like that it's all day not during certain hours for taco Tuesday. The tacos they offer are ground beef, chicken, shredded beef or potato. I have a dairy allergy so I get shredded beef and chicken with no cheese. Their potato mix has cheese If you go in the evening it's extremely busy where it's hard to find parking. The patio area is beautiful in a Mexican hacienda layout. Tried this place not long ago. It's been around forever and I've driven past it a thousand times and finally stoped in. The food was great, typical Mexican fare, but the outdoor patio seating area is amazing. Very pretty, romantic in the evening and pleasant. This was a nice little spot near the Irvine Park Railroad to meet our friends for lunch. After a busy holiday weekend we didn't have the energy to make it to Santa's Village so we suggested lunch. This was a restaurant that came up in my search as near the park. We chose to sit outside and eat. The kids meals were limited but they had a few options that included a juice and rice and beans. I had the shrimp tacos, which were ok but they needed some cheese, maybe some other elements other than onions and cilantro. Their margaritas appeared to be huge. We visited Homecomin' at Disney Springs while in town for business. The food was delicious and the location's hospitality was on full display! We ordered several items because we couldn't decide! Fried pickle and seasonal deviled eggs (I can't remember the name but it had bacon on top!) to start, Skillet-fried Chicken Paillard, and BBQ Salmon for our entrees, with The Honey Bee drinks. We only finished half the food and it was all soooo good! It wasn't a rushed dining experience and started off with Gary, our server, making excellent food and drink recs. Managers were table touching and we honestly felt we were part of one giant family by the time we left. We will definitely go back the next time we're at Disney Springs. Went there for my 60th birthday. Unfortunately the food and the price does not match!! Food was ok but the prices we extremely overpriced for what you get. They cover EVERYTHING in cheese! Even when I ask for no cheese guess what I got cheese!!!! Why do restaurants of this type think that Mexicans love cheese....we dont! I blv they do it only when they dont trust their food!. There beans were good but all else was left to be desired. I was really rooting for them bkz the vibe is laid back with uppity feel to it! Im sorry......less cheese is more! It saddens me to write this post because Moreno's has always been one of my favorite Mexican restaurants! I have not been back in about 8 years and boy things have changed. Let's start with the chips.......they are not the same and are,probably being bought elsewhere. Next, I ordered two ground beef tacos with beans and rice; every bite had no flavor! It was awful and my friend ordered carne asada and again NO flavor! What happened????? We felt like we were just eating some sort of filler, Mexican food should be filled with spices and flavor and there was none. Complete disappointment and will not be coming back. On another note, this restaurant needs updating, the ambiance is horrible and the outside is over run with plants. What is going on????? read more

Got to try taco Tuesday here for a coworker's belated birthday dinner. They typically have shredded beef, chicken, and potato but they sold out of potato so I got to try chicken and beef. Friendly service ! They close at 8:30 but last call was 8pm. They treated us like family ! For $3 per taco, they were huge and filling-- would definitely come back. Ambiance reminds you of a romantic evening out with the way they decorated the place with the lights, plants, fountain, and choice of furniture etc. The flan was creamy and not too sweet ! Morenos is beautifully designed with a breathtaking Patio and has a super fun and charming Indoor Cantina Cave as well! The Restaurant is adorned with lots of gorgeous cultural flavor packed Art and TVs for enjoying Futbol with Cerveza Therapy as well ;0) The Cave is big enough to host large parties without being too loud or disruptive to other Guests, and we love the Simple and Professionally Chic Laminated Banquet Fiesta Menus filled with mouth watering traditional recipes like Enchiladas, Tacos, Chile Rellenos, and Tostada Salads!! I tried the Crab Enchilada Plate and my Mom enjoyed the Chile Relleno Plate, and we were extremely grateful for the wide assortment of mood enhancing beverages as well! Mom got to savor her Signature Asian Mamita Hot Tea to settle in while I chose pink Lemonade, a Hot Cafecito, and a Mucho Sized Modelo off tap to get into my Fiesta Doctor Talk Show Host Mode haha!!! Food: 3.75. Came by around 6 pm on a Thursday. There is parking in the front and back of this standalone restaurant. This is a big place with indoor and outdoor seating. Inside and outside space is comfortable and appealing. Kind of a maze to get to the checkin podium. Place was moderately busy at the time and got busier later. Chips and salsa was provided and was good. I prefer crispy chips to crunchy chips. Salsa was good and had a little kick. Ordered their wet burrito with asada as the meat. Food was delayed but arrived at the right temperature and looked appealing. Burrito was good altogether but trying the asada by itself left me wanting.
