After spending the morning at the cemetery honoring my aunt's 20-year memorial, our family decided to gather for a meal at Moreno's Restaurant in Orange -- and it was the perfect place for us to come together. We had a large group of about 30 people, which is never easy for any restaurant to handle, but they accommodated us so well. They seated us at one long table so we could all sit together, talk, and share memories. It meant a lot to keep everyone connected instead of being split up. The food was excellent. I ordered the carne asada plate, and the meat was cooked to perfection -- tender, flavorful, and seasoned just right. You can tell they know how to prepare their dishes with care. For dessert, I had the arroz con leche, and it was amazing. It was the perfect balance of sweetness and comfort, especially after an emotional day. The ambiance truly stood out. The hacienda-style patio with trees created such a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere. The Spanish-style architecture inside, along with the fountain, made the whole experience feel warm and inviting. It has that classic, authentic charm that makes you want to stay and enjoy the moment. Most importantly, the staff was incredible. They were extremely patient, attentive, and very organized -- which is impressive considering we were a party of 30. Everything came out smoothly, and they made sure we were taken care of without making us feel rushed. Went there for my 60th birthday. Unfortunately the food and the price does not match!! Food was ok but the prices we extremely overpriced for what you get. They cover EVERYTHING in cheese! Even when I ask for no cheese guess what I got cheese!!!! Why do restaurants of this type think that Mexicans love cheese....we dont! I blv they do it only when they dont trust their food!. Tried this place not long ago. It's been around forever and I've driven past it a thousand times and finally stoped in. The food was great, typical Mexican fare, but the outdoor patio seating area is amazing. Very pretty, romantic in the evening and pleasant. We visited Homecomin' at Disney Springs while in town for business. The food was delicious and the location's hospitality was on full display! We ordered several items because we couldn't decide! Fried pickle and seasonal deviled eggs (I can't remember the name but it had bacon on top!) to start, Skillet-fried Chicken Paillard, and BBQ Salmon for our entrees, with The Honey Bee drinks. We only finished half the food and it was all soooo good! It wasn't a rushed dining experience and started off with Gary, our server, making excellent food and drink recs. Managers were table touching and we honestly felt we were part of one giant family by the time we left. We will definitely go back the next time we're at Disney Springs. It's a true pleasure when you get Chile Verde that is so flavorful and the pork is "melts in your mouth" tender" on the lunch special Tostada Grande. We went for taco Tuesday I got one chicken and one ground beef taco. I barely finished the chicken taco and had to take the second one home. We went on taco Tuesday so the tacos were like $2.95 each. Such a great deal! We also got some refried beans to go with the chips. The service was ok. Nothing special. We sat in the patio and was amazing. The gardens surrounding the restaurant are beautiful. A dear friend of mine suggested we meet at Moreno's for Margaritas and catch up conversation. A gorgeous OC day was on tap so we each made the trip. The restaurant is surrounded by beautiful plants, wisteria, bougainvillea, and various palms and succulents. Sitting outdoors would have been lovely if it weren't for busy Chapman Ave. That didn't seem to deter the numerous guests who made that choice though. We opted for indoors in the quiet and A/C. Service was prompt and efficient. We tend to lean on the customize everything side of the menu, but the staff didn't skip a beat! The menu is extensive - if you can't find something you like, I'm sure there's something they can whip up for you. All the options you're used to in combos or a la cart. Margs were ice cold and delicious. Tacos, enchiladas and all the fixins tasted just like they came out of grandma's kitchen. The salsa didn't blow my hair back - it was tasty but didn't have any spicy heat that I love. Now this spot is quite a drive for me, but if I were in the area, I'd plan to visit again. If not for the beautiful setting, the service will win you over. Easy to find. Loads of parking. A terrific spot for groups, large tables and plenty of space outdoors. Possibly indoors too. Yummy tacos for taco Tuesday For Americanized tacos these are good! Good portion of meat, lettuce ratio and tomatoes. I like that it's all day not during certain hours for taco Tuesday. The tacos they offer are ground beef, chicken, shredded beef or potato. I have a dairy allergy so I get shredded beef and chicken with no cheese. Their potato mix has cheese If you go in the evening it's extremely busy where it's hard to find parking. The patio area is beautiful in a Mexican hacienda layout. Has a nice ambiance as you walk through the walkway towards the patio featuring a water fountain, beautiful vegetation galore with plants, lovely trees, tables and umbrellas if you want to eat outside and enjoy the fresh air. Inside is also nice and comfortable seating with regular tables or booths to sit at. Has a bar if your interested in that too. Waiters all friendly and attentive serving on point. They start off with serving hot fresh yummy chips and salsa that taste so good you keep wanting more! I ordered a strawberry Margarita that not only tasted yummy, but filled me up between drinking that and eating the chips and salsa. So I only ordered a alacart Cheese enchilada and it was flavorable and I highly recommend! My husband tried thier chile Colorado plate and it was delicious big chunky flavorable pieces of meat! The beans and rice were just as yummy too! My hubby was happy because they gave him several good size flour tortillas compared to other places who are skimpy only serving two small ones. Food came out nice and hot the way we like it. And for being a Monday, there was plenty of people that just shows it's well liked by the locals as well! This was a nice little spot near the Irvine Park Railroad to meet our friends for lunch. After a busy holiday weekend we didn't have the energy to make it to Santa's Village so we suggested lunch. This was a restaurant that came up in my search as near the park. We chose to sit outside and eat. The kids meals were limited but they had a few options that included a juice and rice and beans. I had the shrimp tacos, which were ok but they needed some cheese, maybe some other elements other than onions and cilantro. Their margaritas appeared to be huge. A lady, who appeared to be a manager, was both terse with customers and belittled the employees, especially the hostess. 2. We gave this place a try...twice! Unless you're Not brown and over 50, you'll be disappointed. Service is absolutely the worst. Reservation first time at 11am, got water at 11:33, then took the waiter another 15 minutes to come after we had to ask the hostess who our waiter was. Food was brought eventually after 12! But we only saw our server/waiter one time. Second time was just as bad. Reservation at 12:30. Chips and salsa came to table around 1 and water a10 minutes later. Other tables we're being served. We had to get up and ask for our server/waiter. We didn't eat until almost 2! And the lack any sort of apology or excuse was even worse. Got to try taco Tuesday here for a coworker's belated birthday dinner. They typically have shredded beef, chicken, and potato but they sold out of potato so I got to try chicken and beef. Friendly service ! They close at 8:30 but last call was 8pm. They treated us like family ! For $3 per taco, they were huge and filling-- would definitely come back. Ambiance reminds you of a romantic evening out with the way they decorated the place with the lights, plants, fountain, and choice of furniture etc. The flan was creamy and not too sweet ! Food: 3.75. Came by around 6 pm on a Thursday. There is parking in the front and back of this standalone restaurant. This is a big place with indoor and outdoor seating. Inside and outside space is comfortable and appealing. Kind of a maze to get to the checkin podium. Place was moderately busy at the time and got busier later. Chips and salsa was provided and was good. I prefer crispy chips to crunchy chips. Salsa was good and had a little kick. Ordered their wet burrito with asada as the meat. Food was delayed but arrived at the right temperature and looked appealing. Burrito was good altogether but trying the asada by itself left me wanting. Sunday Brunch Food was not good, service was bad, only one waitress for a patio full of people. Not sure why we were told we could not eat inside since there were seating people inside the restaurant after we had been seated. I got cheese curdles inside my chile relleno instead of melted cheese. The rice tasted like minute rice tossed in tomato sauce. The beans were decent, and the shredded beef taco was excellent, as was my Cadillac margarita. Our server was nice, but upon arrival, the hostess obviously did not want to be there. Moreno's is the only Mexican restaurant within 20 miles of us with the stunning outdoor patio, so I'll definitely return for the ambiance, drinks, and tacos. Tips: If you want the escabeche, you have to ask for it. Don't bother with the on site bakery. The pan dulce is awful. We paid $13 for 6 pieces and no one ate it. It's that bad. read more

Such a beautiful place to have an afternoon lunch! I was greeted immediately by several of the staff who got me seated on the patio after a short five minute wait. We ordered burritos from the lunch menu and my chili Colorado burrito was so delicious. Hot, cheesy and generously full of tender meat. Tortilla was fresh and the wet sauce was excellent. My friend had the chicken burrito and it too was generously filled. The service was friendly, attentive, and the food came out quickly. Let me begin by saying that I would have given 3.5 stars, except for my experience with receiving my order. The building and garden patio area are beautiful. The food is meh, at best. I ordered a potato taco and a bowl of albondigas. The tacos, while very well filled, are (in my opinion) TOO full, especially with lettuce and cheese. The potato filling was very mildly seasoned (I prefer my potato tacos to have SABOR). We weren't served any salsa or other condiments to go along with the tacos. The worst part of the evening was that my soup NEVER ARRIVED, and there was only one waiter, and one busser, for a full house. We had to flag down the busser to bring it, AFTER the waiter had brought out the tortillas (a full 20 minutes prior to the soup). By the time they brought out my soup the tortillas were cold. I should have cancelled the soup because it was horrible. I have NEVER had albondigas without rice or mint in the meatballs, or in a thick tomato broth. The meatballs (3 small meatballs in a LARGE BOWL) had minimal seasoning, but didn't taste like traditional albondigas, and the broth tasted like enchilada sauce (tortilla soup base), and was very thick (albondigas is a clear broth soup with meatballs and vegetables). All in all, I would recommend this place if all you want is "American" Mexican food (fitting for the location it's in) surrounded by a beautiful garden setting, but if you want real traditional Mexican food, skip this place. read more

Having driven past Moreno's on multiple occasions, it's been on our list of places to try. In a word, I would call this "authentic" in terms of quality and presentation. The frozen (slushy) Mango Margarita ($16) was a huge hit. Probably the most generous serving ever. Cabernet house wine was just OK, and reflected in a reasonable charge of only $10. We had the Chili Colorado ($25) which was excellent. And the Asada Tampiquena ($26) which is grilled steak w/guacamole and a cheese enchilada. Refried beans and Spanish rice included. The steak is thin but huge. The courtyard is beautiful and perfect for large groups. Just about all of the tables are set for parties of 4 or more on metal patio tables and standard banquet chairs. We peeked inside as well. Very cozy if the weather is not cooperating on your visit. Before leaving we stopped off at the adjacent bakery. Friendly reminder Mexican pastries are supposed to be dry and sweet. These were spot on and tasty. read more

This restaurant has a beautiful historic location that's somewhat under utilized the outdoor patio area is beautiful to enjoy lunch or dinner. they have a large room that doesn't seem to be available for use any longer that you could have a wedding or a large party in etc. we've eaten there before just my wife & I we were seated inside. ambience inside is not as great as outside and unfortunately, the two times we've been now the food is just not good bland and tasteless and I have to say I couldn't believe they charged me $3.75 for a side of green salsa that was terrible. I didn't even take a second bite of. I hate giving bad reviews but they really need better cooks and possibly overall how their food is made drinks are not great either so not much to look forward to. I hope I hear that something changes. I'd really love to go there since it's pretty close to our house and we eat out regularly and I love Mexican food but it's gotta have some flavor to it. read more

I came to Moreno's on Taco Tuesday with high hopes and an empty stomach. This place is known for its tacos -- and let's be honest, they are pretty awesome. I was looking forward to a taco feast, maybe a chimichanga, some of their legendary chips and salsa, and possibly a margarita or daiquiri to round things out. The plan was simple: enjoy a relaxing afternoon meal on their charming patio. I rolled in at 3pm. It wasn't busy. A vacant-looking hostess seated me at one of the round tables outside, handed me a menu, and floated off like a tumbleweed in the desert. I waited. ...and waited. ...and waited. A waiter passed by, didn't acknowledge me. Okay, maybe he was busy. I waited. ...and waited. ...and waited. I reviewed the menu, made my picks, and waited some more. ...and waited. ...and waited. Five more minutes passed. No greeting, no water, no "someone will be with you shortly." Just silence and the occasional bird scoping me out for dropped tortilla chips. Eventually, a waitress approached. I thought, finally! Nope. She walked right past me without so much as eye contact. So ... I waited. ...and waited. ...and waited. Ten minutes in, and even the birds had given up on me getting any food. I continued to wait. At the fifteen-minute mark -- still no interaction from any human staff -- I took my menu and walked back to the hostess station. A waiter came up and asked, "Do you need help?" I told him, "I've been waiting fifteen minutes for someone to ask me that." He said sorry... and then just walked off. No offer to seat me again. No manager stepping in. No effort to fix it. Just a casual "sorry" like I'd interrupted his nap. So ... here I sit, with a $100 gift certificate to a place that won't serve me food, or even recognize me as a customer. I can't tell you how the tacos were that day, because I never got to order them. But I can tell you this: when the birds give you more attention than the staff, it's time to find a new Taco Tuesday spot. read more

Came with our friends who live near by. We live in Vegas and trusted their recommendation. Glad we did! We were a party of 12 and our server was on it!! We even had a gluten allergy and it was not a problem. The chips & salsa and drink refills were plentiful and our food came out reasonably quick for such a large party. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE absolutely lived their food. My husband and I shared a steak quesadilla and I ate one of my friends corn tortillas w a smear of all the guac & some salsa that came w the quesadilla and it was so good! Very fresh. We ordered 2 plates of churros for the table and they were a hit as well. This was one of the best Mexican restaurants we've ever been to. My fiancés family loves this place and I was lucky enough to try it with them tonight after hearing so much about it! There was 9 of us total and we all left happy and full. I'd say it's a slight step up from El Torito as far as taste, but the ambience is where they kill it! They had a beautiful patio area with lots of plants and greenery and indoor had a bar and plenty of seating. I got the enchiladas and would definitely get them again the next time I return.
