Moreno's is an institution in Orange. My wife and I had our wedding reception there. As I understand it, the Moreno family still runs the restaurant. Leadership has clearly changed. The food is Americanized Mexican food and it is pretty consistent. I don't go there very often. There is a lot of competition in Orange. read more

This place has a great outdoor setting and is great to bring the family to. The service is great and quick depending when you go. I'm sure this place gets packed on Saturdays and Sundays. The food is authentic style Mexican food. I normally like getting a drink here as they serve it In a giant glass. The food is good. It isn't bad and it isn't super great, it's just good. And for me that is ok. The price points are not bad either for a plate. I got the two taco plate with a side enchilada. My family came here with a party of 15 for a post thanksgiving get together. Parking is interesting but not horrible it is a bit of a walk if you can't find parking in the front of the restaurant. Took forever to order not sure why wasn't very busy, drinks are huge got a mango margarita very strong in my opinion. Food was decent it lacked a lot of seasoning got enchilada Rojas and shredded beef taco came with beans and rice. Very nice patio seating but we dined inside by the bathroom and bar. OUR ABSOLUTE FAVORITE TACO TUESDAY SPOT! We come to Moreno's probably once a week because it is always delicious, the drinks are phenomenal and most importantly the atmosphere is perfection! COME HUNGRY! If you are a fan of mango margaritas with a kick you NEED this Mangonada in your life! I always get Mangonadas if they are on the menu and Moreno's is by far and away the best I've ever had! No Moreno's trip is complete without it! YES we love Taco Tuesday and you really can't beat it. They do fried tacos (I always get some variation of shredded chicken, shredded beef, and potato) or you can get soft tacos with flour tortillas (with ground beef is my favorite). There can be a wait on Taco Tuesday so we always put our name in and hit the bar. No matter when you come they bring chips and salsa - this is the best kind of trap! They are soooo addicting and the salsa has the perfect heat you just keep eating them. We also enjoy an order of guacamole and I always ask for the picked peppers and carrots. I'm not kidding - you better come hungry. We also love the regular menu - everything is delicious and authentic! My favorite go-tos: Chile relleno, mole con pollo, chile verde, chorizo enchiladas, shrimp and steak. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG. I have never had a single thing I didn't enjoy. I gave this place another chance.. my 88 year old mom wanted to come. A rainy day meant we have to sit inside.. well.. it was LOUD I couldn't even hold a conversation with her. She ordered a tostada with chili verde and I had one hard shell beef taco. Sounds easy enough right? We got our food quickly and well.. eh My mom's chili verde meat had so much fat on it.. my hard shell beef taco tasted like they forgot to season it. Heck.. I knew I should've got the potato taco, but I have a feeling they would've forgot the seasoning on that too. It was so disappointing. Maybe it was the rain that threw them off? There is zero excuse to let a customer sit for 20 minutes without anyone approaching. By then most are upset. Never ignore a paying customer. A busser came by to bring chips and salsa. Took server 30 minutes to come greet our table. She had zero urgency. A young woman with braces who didn't even tell us her name. Too late. Servers should touch table in 2 minutes to acknowledge customer. DO BETTER. Oh and the guacamole. Zero flavor. It's literally just smashed avocado. I'm not kidding. My Wife and I went to have dinner tonight . The presentation of the Food was great , but our Food Was Flavorless , we ordered Tacos ! The meat (ground beef ) lack flavor & the rice and beans had no flavor , my wife's food was the same No flavor it's like we were having hospital food (under doctor's orders of no flavor) And our Margaritas was like drinking lemon aid . We've been loyal customers at Moreno's for the past 9 years and have always loved the food--until today. Sadly, this visit was a major letdown. The chile rellenos tasted like they had been soaked in water, completely bland. The carne asada had zero flavor--it might as well have been plain boiled beef. Even the rice lacked any taste. To make matters worse, the service was careless and dismissive. We asked for the kids' plate we always order (taco, rice, and beans), and the waiter said it didn't exist--until we showed him the menu ourselves. That alone was frustrating, but what followed was even more disappointing. We spoke to the owner about the poor food and service, and instead of listening, he made excuses and told us no one else had complained. He was rude, dismissive, and took no responsibility. One of the other waiters--who we know--was kind and said he tried to have something taken off the bill, but the owner refused. After nearly a decade of loyalty, we expected at least a little care and respect. Unfortunately, after today's experience, we won't be coming back. read more

I've been to this place a couple times and I think it's a solid 3.4/5 stars. The service and ambiance itself is really good. They also allow dogs so we were able to bring our pup and eat outside. They have heaters outside too if you're too chilly. I've always gotten the hard shell tacos and they are pretty solid. If you're looking for authentic Mexican street food this probably won't hit the spot. But in terms of a nice, sit down restaurant - the tacos and the meat are good! The owner Linda..On rainy days there is no seating on patio which is understandable.But then everyone comes inside standing room only & on the honor system who came 1st etc...,The hostess then says who's 1st, who's next.....then you have people cutting in etc... how ridiculous is that. Most restaurants take your name & how many are in your party which makes sense instead of saying who's next etc...The owner Linda is very rude to her customers-who by the way if it wasn't for her customers she would not have a business left..Please learn how to treat your customers nicely & manage the rainy days check in better! This place was very quaint and authentic looking from the get-go. Beautiful vines are growing through the entrance area to provide a beautiful experience. The food was incredible as well. We even decided to take part in their churro dessert. Their margaritas were also very generous. *Pros: We came to Moreno's with a group of 30. The experience was MOSTLY amazing. The servers were super attentive, they were constantly checking in and even bringing an extra umbrella when the sun got intense. Plus everyone loved their meal! *Huge Con: The only downside was the manager/owner. She YELLED at the server for helping us with the umbrella. It felt unnecessary and uncomfortable, especially since he was just doing his job. *Overall: The servers went above and beyond. We recently moved to Orange and had driven past Moreno's thinking it looked like a fun place to get dinner. Our son made reservations for 8 PM and offered to take us as a treat. Upon arriving the hostess greeted us with, "The kitchen is closing in half an hour." Stunned, I asked, "Should we just go somewhere else?" Our son observed that they could have suggested an earlier reservation when he called the previous day. I agree. We stayed and ordered quickly. our servers were lovely and the food was good. My family and i have only been here a couple times. To be honest, it is hard to beat the courtyard and patio. It's a fantastic place to relax and enjoy a meal. The service was very good and they know good to how to wish someone a happy birthday. I'm not a big fan of their food, but maybe that is just me. There is no better patio seating at any restaurant, Mexican or otherwise, in Orange County. Rose Canyon and El Adobe are very nice, but Morenos is better. It is the perfect setting for sipping margaritas and enjoying the company of family and friends. Their food is also excellent. I know of no better Chile Verde or Chile Colorado than what is served at Morenos. Their carnitas are excellent and even better with a side of freshly sliced avocado. And if you are looking for something truly spectacular, try the Asada Tampiquena plate. The one thing that Morenos is not, is hip. There is no food coloring in their corn tortillas or gimmicky fusion dishes on their menu. Their menu items are excellent examples of a style of cooking that has been popular in northwestern Mexico and the American southwest for decades. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE. My family made a reservation on the patio but was advised to move inside due to it possibly raining. The owner called the day before to confirm our reservation and we asked if they were able to accommodate us on the patio since it didn't look like it was going to rain anymore. The owner said they would accommodate, just show up and they will help. Great, no problem. We show up the next day and we mention that the owner called us to confirm our reservation and that they could seat us on the patio. The owner rushes in and with such a bad attitude says "I DIDNT CALL ANYONE TODAY" (yeah... YESTERDAY you called). No one said she called us DAY OF. Anyway, she refused to seat us on the patio and sat us inside. Fine. More of our party shows up and the owner says to them that since we told her that she called us DAY OF, she wouldn't be seating us outside??? Anyway we are all seated and minding our business and before our food comes out the owner again comes to our table and with a VERY exasperated and annoyed attitude said "well I MANAGED to get some seating for you outside". Okay? We're already seated inside lady. She was extremely rude and had a bad attitude. I will NOT be recommending this place to anyone. read more

Love the food, drinks and staff here but the woman at the hostess table, whom I assume is the owner, is insufferable. I hope you see this and change your ways. Highly doubt it as it's happened before. I'll keep coming back for the food and service from your staff, but will next time try to avoid eating inside to avoid having to hear you. Disappointing. The chips were stale, the salsa average (no tomatoes or onions or cilantro pieces--just a finely blended spicy sauce). The entrées weren't bad, but they were plated unattractively. The waiter kept interrupting us with a very loud voice and when he wasn't shouting his questions at us, he was running a vacuum around on the carpet. Food was bland - the refried beans had no salt, the fajitas had no flavor, the rice was just rice, the marg was missing love - and rimmed in terrible table salt! I'm not looking for the world here, just wanted some decent Mexican food, but I could have made a dinner 10x as good in my own kitchen and half the price. Beautiful banquet room for any events, cute bakery and a big restaurant all-in-one location. I wasn't able to visit the banquet room and the bakery but I am looking forward to doing so on the next visit. The restaurant was a little bit dark and needed a little bit of care especially cleaning since there were spider webs and dusts around the furniture but they have a great service and the food portion was generous. The seats are separated in different sections and it is very quiet despite of lots of customers talking over each other. The salsa that came with the chips had a nice spicy kick that I had to order some more and pour over all my food. Horchata was perfectly sweetened and creamy. The food arrived on a hot plate, which was great since it kept my food warm till I finished it. The server gave us a heads up on the temperature of the plate as he placed in front of us, which I appreciated. read more
