Found a new local favorite! The Post is such a cute, rustic, lively spot nestled away in Villa Park. It's got a log cabin, western feel with an extensive American cuisine restaurant with a small town feel with big flavors. There's a lot of food options to hanker your craving- seafood, sandos, appetizers, prime rib- there's so many awesome comfort food style options. There were a lot of locals that elevated the hometown feel. As a first timer- things to think about: Bar area is first come first serve and it gets crowded. If loud spaces aren't your thing, the patio or restaurant side might be a better option. With that said, during busy game days, be prepared to wait or move quickly to snag a table. The portions are definitely shareable. The grilled veggie sandwich had amazing flavor, but it was messy. The bread, made in house, was soft, light, and had great quintessential sourdough flavor which partied really well with the grilled vegetables. The pickles were thick cut chips that came out hot and perfectly fried. The bakery had some really gorgeously delicious items Making the choice to try a new place was such a win today. We've been coming to this local bar for about eight years and always loved it. Unfortunately, things have declined noticeably under the new management team, including Chuck. The atmosphere and overall experience just aren't what they used to be. That said, the long-time staff is still fantastic. Nancy, Pedro, and Morgan & staff may be the reason we may go back they're friendly, quick, and truly care about customers. The breakfast burritos are still solid too if you happen to be hungry. Really hoping ownership listens and turns things around, because this used to be one of our favorite neighborhood spots. read more

Very great local watering hole with a dynamic happy hour menu! I've referred out of town friends here for their HH and beyond, and all have left satiated on fried pickle chips, tot nachos, sliders, and well wines and house cocktails. They get super busy so arrive by 5:20pm on weekdays so you have time to place an additional HH order before 6pm comes, especially when the servers are slammed! From the regular menu, I usually get the rock burger or prime rib! Decadent, and almost $50, but satisfying! The margarita is standard fare! read more

Having heard about this spot for their (especially) Wednesday night entertainment through friends, I wanted to check it out. It's next to the City Hall and Civic Center. I immediately liked the bar's casual-&-comfortable atmosphere, and the open-&-airy outdoor seating area (with heaters). Off their Happy Hour menu (Monday - Friday, 3-6 PM), we ordered: - Happy Hour Crispy Green Beans, $7: our thoughts, too heavily breaded for our preference; - Happy Hour Margherita Flatbread, $8: tasty and cheesy, with a decent crust (appreciatively not covered with tomato sauce); - Happy Hour Well Cocktail (vodka & soda, $6): decently strong and better deal than hubby's Old Fashioned ($15) We didn't stay for the entertainment which started at 7 PM. However, I had to check out their bakery, coming home with: - Mini 5" Dutch Apple Pie, $10: still warm, with a delightfully flavorful crust and apple filling; - Brownie, $5: (described as one of their popular treats) moist and chocolatey The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful (I wish I'd noted the name of the young person answering questions I had about their speakeasy -- he was impressively helpful and respectful!). Stoped into The Post for breakfast. Had to get the $6 bloody Mary's. Great food and drinks. We sat on the outside in a covered patio area, which was very nice and the service there was excellent. They provide everything and ensure that your breakfast is served quick and as ordered. If you're looking for a nice place to get breakfast some morning, you need to try this location. Nic did an amazing job keeping us content during our evening. He was very kind and helping the entire evening even after we paid our tab. Food has improved sooo much at the Post! The Chicken Pot Pie is amazing! All dishes are very good. What needs improvement? Need to clean up the place...the outdoor patio needs to be pressure washed. Nice place with potential. The $16 margaritas taste like nothing but mix. All of the drinks we ordered had no alcohol. You can go to a lot of other local places and they will make you stiff drinks for way cheaper. We complained and they offered to bring a shot on the side and it was seriously 1/5th full pointless. They are so stingy!! Burger was 5/10. The fried cauliflower was so unnecessarily spicy. Not what you expect for buffalo cauliflower. Oh ya and the draft beer tasted horrible. read more

I am a resident of the area so this is one of our "locals". It has always had good food even back when it was only a bakery. The outdoor patio is nice and the weather is always accommodating. It's a bit out of the way but if you're looking for a nice charming place to eat and drink this checks the boxes. read more

What a spectacular night we had at the post at Rockwell's bakery. There is a speakeasy that most people don't know Rockwell has. It is beyond phenomenal. I will say it is small so you could only really have about 14 people, but that is plenty for a hidden speakeasy. With a full bar. We held a 1920s theme party for my fiancé's 50th birthday, all our guest dressed up! It was just so bad ass looking. The food is hands-down mouthwatering. Our bartender Jerry was so attentive and having our own bartender, was exactly what we needed because boy was there some drinking happening. We set it up with an open bar and dinner. The only thing that I was kind of bummed out about was our cake. The cake itself was delicious. It was gorgeous, but the bottom cake was supposed to be white flavor and for whatever reason we ended up with chocolate cake so I was kind of bummed about that but the cake itself didn't go uneaten. This place was usually good but, I tried to go in tonight with my training service animal. The owner was next to the host when I walked in and they first said dogs weren't allowed but then I proceeded to say it was a service animal. The owner then asked what is my disability and I said anxiety, she then told me that wasn't one of acceptable reasons to have a service animal. I felt very unwelcomed and disrespected to that comment. Overall I thought this place was welcoming to everybody but unfortunately they don't allow people with anxiety. read more

Very cool local hang out with live music and half off wine bottles on Wednesday nights. Our server named Victor was excellent and very helpful! Awesome outdoor patio as well.
