Wife and I stumbled upon Bosscat randomly and had lunch a few months ago. I saw the Whisky Room and thought that would be the perfect spot for my retirement dinner I wanted to have with a few of my partners. I was not disappointed! I worked with Casey in Private Events and he made the magic happen. Had a welcome cocktail, 4-course dinner, dessert, and a Whisky Flight tutorial. Jacob was our Whisky expert and server. He absolute rocked it! Even had a close up magician swinging by for a little entertainment. Highly highly highly recommend. It's not cheap, but very much worth dollar spent. Texas Takeover!! Had to check out their Texas takeover during the Orange International Street Fair. Made reservations ahead of time and we were seated promptly. Service was great overall with friendly staff ready to recommend their specials. They redecorated the interior with Texas flags and other Texas inspired decor. Between that, the country music playing over the speakers, and the cowboy hats everywhere it was a fun experience! We started with the crab stuffed cheesy mushroom caps which were seriously cheesy. We had to wrap the cheese around the spoon just to get a bite! Then we had the Tex-Mex wedge salad which was very fresh and delicious. We had to try the Skillet Honey Butter Cornbread with Salted Maple + Jalapeño Butter. All I can say is wow, the combo of sweet, spicy, and savory was amazing. I pretty much ate the whole thing myself with no regrets! Katie got the coffee rubbed new york and I got the prime rib. Her steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and had a great crust from the coffee rub. My prime rib was a bit overdone for my liking and didn't have a ton of flavor from the Texas rub, but it was still really good. We came here for happy hour. They got a pretty nice selections of food and drinks to choose from. I had a mule to drink. We ordered fried pickles, Korean fried chicken sliders and beef ribs grilled cheese. I loved the sliders and the grilled cheese. I also enjoyed the crunchy fried pickles without the middle part. The ones with the middle part were soggy and mushy. I didn't like those at all. Our waiter was nice. The place is big and modern. Food Spinach and artichoke egg rolls 2/5: they came out luke warm and had a sauce that didn't have any flavor even when dunking the entire egg roll in it. Tomato and burrata jam 4/5: the bread was fantastic and the flavor of the overall dish was nice. This however is not a jam and it was more like a soup. I wish the "jam" was thicker. Sugar barrel steak 4/5: the steak was perfect and had a crisp layer on the edges of it that I want more of. The green beans as a side were good and the Yukon gold potato's as a side were okay. The steak had a butter on it that was a little too lemony, but overall the dish was good. What a great brunch spot in Orange! Our server, Monica, was fantastic and kept our ice tea refills going. We arrived around 11am and the restaurant does have indoor courtyard seating which allows pets so we brought our dog. The menu was a neat throwback too with pricing that reflected all brunch items under $20 and Bloody Mary's for $5. The only thing that they could improve would be the outdoor chairs, some padding would go a long way to make the chairs more comfortable and improve the overall experience. I went to Bosscat Kitchen & Libations years ago, and I think some of the menu items have changed since then. I still love the decor, there are a lot of unique and interesting items throughout the restaurant. I decided to have a cocktail with dinner since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. I ordered the Blood Orange Paloma and my husband had a tequila soda. Given the libations name, I expected the cocktails would be especially delicious and creative, but I was disappointed in both the taste and presentation. My drink tasted more like a regular paloma, and I didn't pick up a blood orange taste. It was topped with a fresh lime, and I think the grapefruit soda overpowered the drink. They also had two tequila blanco options: lalo and espolon. Our favorite item for the night was the burger smashies appetizer. They are three mini smash burgers, with pickles on the side, and they provide mustard and ketchup when you ask. I had the spicy rigatoni and my husband ordered the pan seared salmon. I thought my pasta was good and I liked the ricotta. My husband liked his salmon and he said the greens on the side were delicious. The charred lemon also gave the salmon a nice flavor. Service felt a little mixed during our visit. There were a couple of moments where the waitress came across as a bit sarcastic, though I'm not totally sure if I was reading it right. I think she may have overheard me mention to my husband that I didn't love my drink. When she came to check on it, I said it was fine. I don't really send drinks back, especially if that is how they make their blood orange paloma. I don't like wasting it or expecting something different. After that, the interaction felt a little off. At the end of the meal, it also took a while to get our check. They were also playing the Champions League Finals on the TVs which was good. I assume they'll play the World Cup games too. We ordered the Gravy Train and the Ham-azing Croissant. Just a warning, the Ham-azing Croissant is HUGE! This is a definitely a dish meant for sharing. They asked if we wanted them to pour the sauce over the croissant or leave it on the side to dip in. We decided to leave it on the side to be dipped. This croissant sandwich was very dense and filling and the cheese sauce was very rich. I been on the hunt to find the best biscuits and gravy in OC. The corner covered location has wide open windows, with a beautiful breeze. Our server has worked here for 2 years and shared the origin of the name Bosscat came from a former worker who affectionately called the owner Miss Bosscat so when they ventured to open a new restaurant he insisted it only made sense to name it Bosscat after her. This place is a deal during Happy Hour. It's not as noisy (though the music level is always a solid medium) and you get quick service from very good, helpful servers. I thought the Korean chicken sliders and the short-rib grilled cheese were both excellent (tho should have been served hotter) but let me tell you: The Korean chicken is seriously spicy (the server did warn me) so if you like spice, it's a great combo with the slightly sweet bun against the kimchi slaw. The short-rib grilled cheese is pure comfort food. The place is some kind of converted warehouse / packing house so you have an industrial environment but it's comfortable seating with high ceilings. Came here for my friend's baby shower and it was a perfect spot for both dining and hosting events. After arriving in Irvine and settling into our hotel, my man found a nearby spot where the four of us could enjoy dinner together. The restaurant was dark and stylish, and I immediately liked the vibe. Even though it was crowded for a Thursday night, we were seated within 15 minutes. We each picked a shareable dish to split. Predictably, my daughter chose the mac and cheese. I rolled my eyes -- it's so her -- but it turned out to be the best of the four. Maybe it was the velvety cheese sauce or the golden cracker crust that made it so irresistible, but that mac and cheese was, as she'd say, absolutely bussin'. The next standout was the maple-buttered Brussels sprouts, my man's pick. If all vegetables tasted this good, I'd eat them every day. Candied pecans, maple butter, blue cheese -- how could that not be amazing? Was it healthy? Sus, but definitely worth it. I picked the pig candy for the group, which was outrageously sweet and candy-like. Clearly, this wasn't healthy -- bacon, sugar, and rye whiskey caramel make a trifecta of indulgence. But it was so delicious, I couldn't complain. The sliders were the last shareable we tried. They were fine but didn't stand out -- the meat was a bit dry. I also ordered a cocktail (something pretty and fruity, though I can't remember the name). The bartender nailed it, delivering a delicious drink. My man enjoyed his Negroni. They have great booth seating on the right hand side, but that's set aside for parties of six. I didn't even ask. The atmosphere is casual. The menu is divided into food on one side and drinks on the other. There were couples and groups, including children, enjoying Sunday brunch. I could hear Sabrina Carpenter and Smash Mouth playing on the overhead speakers. I ordered a mimosa from the classic $5 cocktail menu. It was good and strong. For my main meal, I ordered the short rib chilaquiles, which comes with a side of sour cream. I added an egg for $1.99. It was delicious. The meat was shredded and mixed in with the tortilla chips. Bosscat Kitchen is a fun Gastropub located right off of the Orange Circle. What you will find here is a really nice selection of creatively created food items. And, of course, libations. In terms of their food, all of the items are seemingly created with very fresh ingredients, and they arrive at your table with a very nice presentation. From my experience, the food here all tastes really good, In association with food, they also, of course, offer beverages. As this is a Gastropub, many of these are alcohol orientated drinks. One of the interesting/curious things I find about this place is that the price of a cup of coffee is the same price as a mimosas. This is quite unusual, I believe. Mostly, mimosas tend to be fairly expensive when you order them at a restaurant. Here, the price of a cup of coffee is five dollars and the price of a mimosa is five dollars. Thus, if you're looking to catch a little morning buzz,, this is a great way to do it. The staff here all seem super nice. They're happy to help you out with whatever you need. The service here is really good. And, they take care of the customers very well. This restaurant is very well designed, and, for the most part, they're seating is well spaced. The one thing I'm not personally in love with is their tables for two. For example, if you go in there with just one other person, they're probably gonna stick you at the small tables that are designed to seat just two people. I don't know, they should do better than that. The tables are very small. And, in some ways, it's kind of hard to enjoy your meal, when it's all stacked onto the table, and there's not much room to move around. That's just me. You can make your own conclusions about that situation. If, on the other hand, you come in there with three or four people, you will be given a much nicer table. And, if you come in there with even more, you're gonna be given one of their very nice boots. I think the way this place is set up, they should really do more for the couples. Because, many times, couples come to a Gastropub, like this to enjoy a little bit more leisure with their meal and drinks than is provided. When she learned it was our first time, she shared some favorites across entrees and shareables. Everything sounded so good that we decided to go with a few shareables instead. Once again Bosscat did it again! I came to Bosscat again after the amazing food and experience I had last time. Let's start with the service. We had an amazing server, I couldn't remember her name, but she was super sweet, attentive, and quick to offer recommendations on menu items including appetizers, entrees, and drinks. Let's move onto the drink. Our server recommended the pineapple sage elixir described as espolón blanco tequila, pineapple, sage, citrus. She shared that this drink tasted like a dole whip. When it came out, it was the perfect balance of bold, sweet, but flavorful. This drink was on the sweeter side, but you could also taste the tequila. And onto food! For an appetizer we ordered the male butter Brussels which were roasted brussel sprouts, crisped, tossed with a maple sauce, candied pecans and blue cheese. And all I have to say is WOW. The flavors in this dish were remarkable. For our entree we went with the same as last time, the short ribs as they did not disappoint. The short ribs once again were tender enough to cut with a fork. The sauce in top was a peppercorn sauce which was a nice addition of flavor. The garlic mashed potatoes were also amazing! Finally, the environment. This time was different as we brought a dog. The perk of Bosscat kitchen and libations is that they are pet friendly on the patio. The patio wasn't crowded and we were far enough away from other tables so we didn't feel crowded. I can't wait to come back for another great experience!
