One of my favorites! We came here on a Friday night, and the service was phenomenal. We ordered the hushpuppies, sea bass, and spicy chicken sandwich, and everything was delicious. They also brought biscuits to the table, which were amazing so soft, warm, and buttery! Our food came out within about 10 minutes of ordering, which was impressive, especially for a Friday night. I decided to give Georgia's in the Anaheim Packing District a try because I'm a big fan of their Irvine Spectrum location. I figured it would be the same great food in a different setting, but unfortunately, my experience was pretty disappointing. First, I want to say that the person who took my order was very nice and friendly. Customer service at the counter was pleasant, and I appreciated that. As for the Anaheim Packing District itself, it's definitely a vibe. The atmosphere is lively, there's live music, and it's a fun place to walk around and explore. That said, it is very loud. The live music adds to the energy, but if you're looking for a quieter meal or conversation, be prepared for a lot of noise. Now, onto the food. The biggest disappointment was the baked beans. They didn't just have a hint of chili flavor they tasted like an actual bowl of chili. I'm talking to the point where I felt like I should've been eating them with crackers, shredded cheese, and sour cream instead of alongside catfish. I've had Georgia's baked beans before at the Irvine location, and this was nothing like what I expected. I also requested my catfish to be fried soft, but it still came out fried hard. The fish wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't cooked the way I asked, and it ended up being drier than I prefer. The mac and cheese was another letdown. The noodles were very mushy, and it seemed like they were buried under a thick layer of cheese rather than being creamy and well-balanced. It just didn't have the texture or consistency I was hoping for. One thing I also noticed was that I didn't receive the complimentary cornbread that I've gotten at the Irvine location. Maybe that's only offered for dine-in or varies by location, I honestly don't know, but it was something I was expecting based on my previous experiences. Overall, this visit just didn't live up to the standard I've come to expect from Georgia's. Since I've had consistently good meals at the Irvine Spectrum location, I'm hoping this was just an off day for the Anaheim kitchen. Unfortunately, with the baked beans tasting like chili, the over-fried catfish, and the mushy mac and cheese all in one meal, I left feeling pretty disappointed. Soul food done right a new favorite! We made a trip specifically to try this spot, and it was a total winner from start to finish. It's clear why they've been a local staple for 11 years this is the original location, and you can really taste the legacy in every dish. We learned that the menu features the favorite recipes of the owner's husband (you'll see his photo on the wall!), and there's a real sense of heart put into the cooking. 5-star experience! Service was fast and friendly, the menu was hard to decide between because everything looked so darn good, and the food we chose was delicious and piping hot. This is one of those places that you just have to visit multiple times because there's so many menu items to go through that you couldn't possibly get through it all in just a couple visits. First time trying Georgia's. They have quite the selection on their menu. It was hard to choose but I went with the jambalaya. It had decent flavor but tasted like a reheated tv dinner. They have a small seating area in their section and you order at the cashier, or if you're doing take out they have a kiosk where you can place your order without any contact. It took about 10-15 minutes for my order to come out, and the catfish was sooo tender and steaming hot when I got to my table and opened it back up. The only thing was that the fries were not. The fries on the other hand were cold and soggy, meaning that they were sitting out for a long time while they were frying the catfish. The catfish itself was great. It was so tender that it was practically falling off the fork as I tried eating it. It was also plenty of food and I could barely finish it all. My boyfriend had the Blacken Catfish ($22.95) which came with 2 sides. He opted for the Mac N Cheese and Seasonal Vegetables. I ordered their Tri-Tip Salad ($18.95) replacing the blue cheese with shredded house blend cheese. Complimentary corn bread! Yum! What a pleasant surprise when they brought out the complimentary corn bread. It was soft and moist. A great way to start off the meal. My boyfriend's blacken catfish was a really small portion of fish. Nothing too impressive with the fish either. The seasoned vegetables are average. The mac and cheese was good. My salad was better by compare. The tri-tip salad was a nice way of being healthy but still eating something healthy. The raw red onions was the only thing I picked out of the salad. These would have added better flavor contribution to the salad if it was pickled or something. A decent option while at the Anaheim Packing House but some of their menu items are on the pricey end. Went here for the second time and they didn't disappoint! Located in Anaheim packing house this hidden gem is spectacular. I feel like majority of the food are good, well, all the food are good. I was at the Anaheim Packing District and wanted a quick bite to eat. Considering there are so many different options, I opted to get something I hadn't eaten in a long time, which was some good ole soul food, particularly, a good shrimp po'boy. I saw Georgia's and decided to give them a try. The food didn't take very long to come out and the cashier was extremely friendly. I wasn't expecting much, as I wanted something fast and convenient to eat. The food came in a white disposable container with the sandwich and some fries. The fries were a bit crispy but were a bit cold, almost like it had been sitting in a cooling tray for a bit too long. The sandwich didn't fair any better, as there were a good number of shrimp in the sandwich, but they were extremely tough and a bit cold. Again, it just felt like the food had been sitting on a tray for quite some time. Its a shame because I would have waited that extra 5-10 minutes for them to make or even re-heat the food. I had to leave the food on the counter to use the bathroom really quick when I went to pick it up, and that was about 2 minutes. I don't think the restaurant was extremely busy either as I was able to walk up and place an order almost immediately. This place is located in the Anaheim Packing District so parking will definitely be a challenge. They do offer valet parking so that should lessen the challenge a bit. Since there are so many different restaurants, I wanted to try a little from a couple of places. Georgia's restaurant does offer a small seating area but if it's busy, you'll have to find seating elsewhere. I ordered the following menu items. 1. Corn bread: I was told it's made in-house from scratch. Two muffin type cornbreads along with a honey butter. The cornbread was sweet and tender and the honey butter kicked it up a notch. I would definitely order this again. 2. Mac and Cheese: I was told it's made from scratch in-house. The Mac and cheese was not served hot, just warm. And while it had good flavor, the roux was grainy rather than smooth. I would not order this again. 3. Peach Cobbler: I had such high expectations for this since it's made in house from scratch. It had good flavor but it was dry (no liquid in the filling) and it lacked the biscuit and/or crispy type crust. I would not order this again. There was a point in time where I had ordered from at least 2/ week - once for home and again for work. I love their catfish po boys and their collard greens. Actually, I love all of their sides so when I order several dishes I make sure to mix and match their sides. I have never dined in but my receipts looked like I was living off of their menu. There's so much to tell about Georgia's! Located in the Anaheim Packing District, I can only imagine how this would be if it was a stand alone restaurant. She refilled glasses, cleared tables and assisted her staff in many ways. That alone is a plus in my book. They bring the table a complimentary bowl of cornbread and honey butter before the food comes out. This cornbread belongs in the food hall of fame! I ordered the fried catfish with cabbages and mac n cheese. I'm not a fan of the way the cabbage was done and should have opted for the collard greens, which someone in my party tried to get the owner to ship her some home lol. The cabbages had excellent flavor but I don't like peppers and onions in mine. Just a personal preference. The Mac and cheese was stellar! Cheesy and buttery and seasoned to perfection. Hear me out. I think I ordered the wrong thing. My inclination was to order catfish and Mac and cheese with corn bread. I should have. I'll give this place another try. The chicken tasted like shake and bake, the waffle tasted like corn dog batter. Not at all impressed and won't order this again from here. Whew, talk about southern cooking, the dining room was busy. The collards were good, I needed hot sauce to complete the taste, which they had. The fried green tomatoes were about 1 1/2" thick and very heavily battered. So much so that I couldn't taste the tomatoes. To remedy that I removed the bottom batter coating, then it was on like popcorn . Talk about good eats. If you go get the fried green tomatoes and the jambalaya; at least four people ordered the jambalaya while so was in the restaurant.
