Calamari rings were delicious -- lightly battered and fresh
Gabby R.

Delicious! Before I start taking about the food, a huge shout out to the staff that works here especially the gentleman who was so kind, friendly, and attentive. The food was also great! I ordered something outside my usual scope of orders-- baby back ribs and the meat was nicely cooked and it came off the bone easily. I enjoyed the coleslaw, it was not overly sweet, it just tasted like fresh cabbage and the fries were good as well. We also ordered a side of calamari rings and they were wonderful! They're lightly battered and fresh. Overall, the portion size is large and I saved this for dinner. Recommend.

Came by tonight since it's been awhile since I've come to the Packing house. I stopped in and decided The Chippy was the place I was gonna chomp on tonight. I got the 1 piece fish and shrimp combo and it did not disappoint. The fish was sooooo crispy. The batter was amazing and not all gross and oily. The fish was flaky and melted in my mouth. When I squeezed a little lemon on that bad boy man o man did it hit the spot!!!! The service was quick and to the point. I didn't have to wait too long even though it was a Saturday night which seemed to be busy. And what better way to eat some fish and chips but with some live entertainment! There happen to be a band playing tonight so it made the vibes perfect! Over all I had some great food, great vibes and I would recommend this place fo'sho!

So good man!!!!! It smells amazing when you walk by! I saw a steady stream of customers walking up to grab their food. The fish looked great. I ordered some hush puppies and they were the best I've ever had! Seriously, the corn meal was so good. They were fried perfectly and very hot. Delicious! I'll be back to try the fried fish too.

Fish chips sounded so good and decided to try it out. Service was quick. The fish and chips were a good snack and I'll try again.

Chicken basil sandwhich with no tomatoes

In the packing house upstairs towards the middle, we tried this place to celebrate my wife's bday. I got a chicken and basil sandwhich with no tomatoes. The lady was very nice and took my order right away. There weren't a lot of people in line at this place. I asked her what was on the sandwich, and she told me chicken, basil, mayo, tomatoes, and lettuce. I told her no tomatoes and she completed my order. It came out to about $12, and they didn't even ask for tips, which was nice. When I got the chicken sandwich, overall, it just looked okay. The chicken was a bit dry, and I could hardly taste any basil. What I did taste was the mayo. It seemed like they put two big spoonfuls in the sandwhich. It overpowered the sandwhich and almost made it unedible by the second half. Also, the sandwhich was falling apart.. I don't know if I would get that again. Their fish and chips looked bomb.. I think if they didn't put so much mayo, the sandwhich would have tasted a lot better.

Enjoying a little "fish picnic" from "The Chippy Fish & Grill" (take-out). Anaheim, CA.

I was longing for that beer battered cod many of us knew & loved from the old-school "H-Salt" of yesteryear. Hoping for a taste of nostalgia, I rushed over to try "The Chippy Fish & Grill" back in 2014 when they opened on the 2nd Floor of the Anaheim Packing House food hall. Although not exactly like H-Salt, the food was pretty good. Fast forward to 2023: I hadn't been to "The Chippy" in years, but decided to try it again recently. For some reason, their fish & service are now....different....but in a good way! Not sure what happened, but their fish pieces seem a bit larger in size, (not thick, but flat like a filet) & the service is friendlier, as well. Due to our high-risk status, we have been avoiding the crowded Anaheim Packing House for the last 3+ years, due to COVID-19. Instead, whenever the craving hits, we visit during off-peak times, order to-go, & enjoy a nice quiet outdoor "fish picnic" (away from the masses) with "The Chippy" as the star-of-the-show. Although the fries (aka "chips") could be a bit less soggy, the fish is still good. So far, we have found that the friendly owner serves hot, fresh, & delicious food, & it's an enjoyable occasional treat. Although "The Chippy" may not be comparable to the fish-&-chips served in the UK, it's one of the better fish-&-chips I have tasted here in the OC area locally. Craving beer-battered fish-&-chips? Check out "The Chippy Fish & Grill." *Tip* For the immunocompromised (or if you just prefer take-out): Let the staff know that you will not be dining onsite, & they will carefully pack your order in special brown bags with holes. This will help to ensure that your seafood does not get quite as soggy by the time you reach your destination.

We came here on a weekday after the lunch rush and was able to walk right up and place our order. The lady who was working there did not seem like she wanted to be there. Seems like her mind was somewhere else. She couldn't even remember what I ordered to drink. We really wanted to like this place because we were craving fish and chips. It had been a very long time since I've had good quality fried fish. Our fish and chips order came out really fast. The fish was hot, but the breading was very heavy and bland. Seemed like it needed seasonings. Unfortunately, the fries were super soggy, (which means the oils likely was not hot enough) and there was no crunch to them whatsoever. Also, we were not offered any condiments, and even missed out on lemons, which I saw in Yelp photos afterwards. The food came with ketchup and tartar sauce in small plastic containers. Even with the sauces, the food was still bland. We will continue to be on the quest for a good fish and chips place!

Located upstairs at the Anaheim Packing House you'll find The Chippy. I've wanted to try them for some time, but just didn't want to deal with the shit show parking over there. On the day of my visit, cravings for fish and chips domineered over my reluctancy to engage with dumb ass people that saturate the venue's parking lot and surrounding streets. If you've been to the Anaheim Packing House, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Ordered the 2 fish and 1 shrimp combo and honestly, I really thought I was going to have a "meh" moment with the quality and taste of whatever I ordered as I stared at the menu on the wall. Welllllllll, I was WRONG! They battered the fish for my order right in front of me and these portions were big and fresh, not frozen as I assumed that most places that sell fish and chips purchase them from similar distributors that pimp out flash frozen third world aquarium fish. Not this place. Quality all around. Taste was soooo good! Customer service was decent. Totally recommend this place and I'm going to go back and try other items.

Just like in London except that it didn't come with vinegar

Let me tell you, I have been missing out! The food was delicious, absolutely delicious. My husband order the grilled salmon with white rice and grilled zuchinni. I ordered the clam chowder and zuchinni. The salmon was perfectly seasoned and cooked very well. The clam chowder was delicious and the broth was so smooth. The zuchinni was seasoned and grilled to perfection in my opinion. Its so easy to over cook zuchinni and have it get watery quickly, but not this time. The portions were very generous and nobody left the table hungry. The location was not very busy when we arrived, but it got busier as we waited for our food. The vibe is absolutely casual, you order at the counter and the attendant was very kind and helpful. She told us the wait would be about 15 minutes for our food to be ready, but it came out hot, and in less than the 10 minutes. If you are looking for a new place to go for fish, this is the place. My husband and I are already looking forward to trying almost everything on the menu.

The food is delicious and I love the cozy feel and detailed theme of the entire restaurant. I arrived before my friend and asked if we could be seated in the dining room. Carrie hesitated and tried to talk me into the bar area. She said the dining room is usually for large parties. That is NOT true. I've been there with just my husband many times, as well as a small group (4). ALWAYS in the dining room, not the bar. She reluctantly seated me in the dining room and there were 2 booths that had only 2 people!!j Throughout our dinner, she commented "You guys are still here?!" "You guys have been here forever!" It was NOT busy or full and not near closing time. There were no "large parties". After I left for a few minutes, my friend told me that Carrie commented AGAIN about how long we were there (we had appetizers, dinner, dessert and tea!) And said it was slow that night but if it was busy as it normally is, she "would have had to kick us out"!!!! And she "just wanted us to know that". Also, the people who were already there when I got seated were "still there" the whole time we were!! I wonder if she said anything to them?? This was my friend's first visit to The Olde Ship. She loved the food and ambiance but said the service ruined it for her.

Normally this comes with an Oyster but another Scallop was substituted as I don't care for Oysters... about the only type of seafood I don't care for. There was one all gender washroom which was not immaculate but was satisfactory. I was glad to see that paper towels were available. I have a bone to pick about the personal appearance of the employees at this establishment. I saw that the guys working at this establishment failed to tuck their shirts in. I consider that to be highly unprofessional so I am deducting one point as this is something I am OCD about. I was glad to see Pepsi was available though I didn't have any this visit and I was happy to learn that refills are free. If I was to assign a letter grade as is done in school, this establishment would get a solid B.

They gave me a beeper, and I was able to find a nearby table without any trouble. I ordered the Fish N Chips, which was a generous portion. It came with two large pieces of fish that were nicely fried. The batter wasn't too thick, and the fish itself was tender rather than overly flaky or hard. The texture and overall quality were good, but it was a bit lacking in flavor, even with malt vinegar and tartar sauce. The steak fries were crispy and not overly salty, which I enjoyed. While visiting the Packing House, I attempted to use the ground-floor men's restroom. The restroom doorway has a raised threshold that made independent wheelchair access extremely difficult. While attempting to exit the restroom, my wheelchair became stuck. It ultimately required the assistance of four able-bodied individuals to help me get out. During this process, the raised threshold bent my wheelchair wheel, rendering it unsafe and unusable. Because I rely on my wheelchair for daily mobility, I was forced to purchase an emergency replacement immediately, at significant personal expense. I cannot wait weeks for repairs or a cheaper alternative -- I need a functioning wheelchair now. The experience was physically painful, emotionally distressing, and deeply embarrassing. I am also scheduled for major surgery on March 3, which makes reliable wheelchair access medically critical. Today, I am experiencing increased pain as a result of the physical strain from this incident. Based on my experience, the restroom access does not appear ADA compliant, and the Anaheim Packing House as a whole is not wheelchair-friendly. This is a serious safety concern, not a minor inconvenience. No one should risk injury or financial loss simply to use a restroom. I hope management takes this review seriously and addresses the accessibility issues so that other patrons with mobility disabilities do not have to go through what I experienced.
