Le Hut Dinette is a restaurant that's owned by Michelin-recognized Heritage BBQ from San Juan Capistrano. They take delicious grilled proteins and chef them up into really interesting entrees. Several dishes take BBQ and they add influence from Filipino and Californian flavors. Started off with blue corn sourdough that was baked next door at 6100 Bread and served with tallow and lemon butter. It was chewy, creamy, with hits of lemon. We then had a grilled mushroom arroz caldo, which is a Filipino-style rice porridge that gets tons of flavor from garlic and fried shallots. What takes it to another level is that they have perfectly charcoal grilled maitake mushrooms that gives a smokiness to the porridge that's amazing. As you eat, you get pops of acidity from pickled fresno chiles and the grilled mushrooms are brushed with an addictive ancho glaze. This is an amazing, balanced dish. Our main course was a Kurobata pork belly chop that was pan roasted and grilled over charcoal and topped with a subtle strawberry-guajillo BBQ sauce and a refreshing coleslaw with a dressing that reminded me of sweet vinegar with chili that's often served with rich, fatty Filipino pork dishes. I'll definitely come back for brunch and dinner. Fusion restaurants are often gimmicky, but Le Hut Dinette skillfully balanced flavors without cutting corners. You could taste delicious sauces, perfectly grilled meats, and brightness and acidity to round things out. Some of the dishes represent Filipino flavors and these were very well thought out. Their mushroom arroz caldo, for example, was probably the best lugaw (Filipino term for rice porridge) that I've ever had. I look forward to coming back soon!

My husband and I came here for dinner Saturday night and had a nice time. The building's architecture is really retro and cool, and the service is great. We started with the blue corn sourdough bread-which we loved (warm, salty and lemony). We tried the potato appetizer and I loved the spicy mayo-type sauce on it. We shared the beef rib for two with charred broccoli and garlic rice, and while it was a good Asian-flavored rib, we had hoped it would be more like the Heritage Texas style BBQ rib, which is more blackened and briny in flavor. Still very good, just different than what we were thinking of. We shared the warm milk bread pudding for dessert and it had a good orange flavor to it. We found parking across the street. Overall, you'll have a nice, unique meal here.

Delicious food and such a gorgeous atmosphere. We've been here for brunch and dinner now! We prefer dinner over brunch but it's the perfect mix of cute diner and hip wine bar. Whether you're looking for an elevated bite or celebrating an occasion this is the PERFECT spot!! Love their $1 mugs of coffee too. AND they use bread from 6100 bread, tortillas from Burritos Las Palmas, and meats from Heritage Barbecue! You're in good hands here

Overhyped sister restaurant of Heritage BBQ. Saw this place featured on Youtube. Also, they were already on my radar for the Tallow Fries. The servers are friendly and the restaurant has a laid back ambiance. But the food was very mid. The Tallow Fries were a bit underwhelming. Wish they were crispier and had more seasoning. The Fried Chicken Sandwich and Smoked Chicken Sandwich were both under-seasoned. I wanted to like this place, but I don't think I'll be back.

Some of my friends have been wanting to take me to Le Hutt Dinette for quite some time, and we finally had the opportunity to snag a reservation. We were slightly disappointed to see that they only serve lunch on Thursdays and not dinner, but it is good to know since we will be back to try the dinner menu on another day. We ordered a little bit of everything because we could not help ourselves and wanted to sample as much as possible. We got the coleslaw, blue corn toast, Caesar salad, smashburger, California burrito, and fried chicken sandwich. Everything was absolutely delicious. Not a fry was left behind! We did end up taking the rest of the California burrito home because it was huge, which is definitely not a complaint. We finished off the meal by sharing the chocolate bibingka with oven roasted strawberries, which was incredible. Another fun thing to note: Le Hutt carries a wine from Native Hands, a winemaker local to Southern California. It was very cool to see it on the menu. I love the vibe of the place, and the service came with a smile. We will definitely be back for dinner at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Right next door to 61hundred Bread, Le Hut Dinette has the same quonset hut charm but shifts into a casual diner vibe. They run a breakfast menu for the morning, and have both indoor and outdoor seating. Service was friendly and fast when I was there, but according to the server it does seem like they also get their usual rushes and normally recommend reservations. I went with the brisket breakfast burrito. It's substantially filling even without a side. That said, it leans a one-note texture. The spicy element comes more from chili oil than actual heat, so it doesn't bring much kick, and without it the burrito could use more contrast. Something like a brighter salsa or added crunch would balance it out better. The fried potatoes inside come as whole baby potatoes, and they're cooked properly. No complaints there, but doesn't help with giving a different texture. Seeing what people at other tables were ordering around me, I may come back and try other items on the menu. Everything looked like mountains of food.

Chicken sandwich and pastrami sandwich

Diner food, friendly staff, and amazing food! What more could I possibly ask for?! We didnt have a reservation but we were able to sit at the counter and were promptly attended to. I ordered the chicken sandwich with fries and my husband ordered the pastrami sandwich. Both were delicious and the bread so soft! We would love to come back for breakfast sometime.

Chili cheese fries. So good.
Daniel T.

The chili cheese fries were no joke. High quality chili, well-seasoned fries, garnished perfectly with cheese, pepperocinis and thinly sliced onions. The Santa Maria slam, the breakfast potatoes stole the show. The tri tip with chimichurri very solid. And the eggs cooked over easy. The coleslaw was excellent. Balanced the meat heavy order on our part. The burrito en mojado was three meals in one. We took home most of the barbacoa and had a second brunch. Still had some leftover so made eggs and toasted some 6100 bread and had a third breakfast. Service was fantastic and the vibe is analog diner with a modern day spin.

I was excited to try this place as I'm a fan of Heritage BBQ and Taco Maria but was a bit disappointed by the food. I got the fish tacos and it was a little strange with barely a piece of fish in it and a few orange pieces. They offer 3 different sauces to choose from so I opted to try them all, I really liked the verde sauce but I was surprised to find on my bill that they charged me an extra $2 each for the additional sauces. Service was great, attentive, and they even made me bread pudding which wasn't on the menu, but because they were missing some ingredient, they made it with strawberries which ended up being too tart and sweet. I appreciated it though. The space is small and has the diner feel. Service great. Food ok but overpriced. But I would never return because they don't have their own parking lot and you have to find street parking so it's a bit challenging.

I recently dinnered here and I can't stop thinking about the beef pork rib. If you order one thing, order the beef rib for 2 ($129). The Heritage Barbecue smoked beef rib comes with mushroom demi and blistered broccolini and garlic rice on the side. It goes without saying that the star is the smoked beef rib - it's fall off the bone tender and so damn flavorful. However, costars broccolini and garlic rice were just as exceptional. What is there to say about blistered broccolini except the one served with the rib is fire. The feathery tops really picks up the char flavor and it has a nice snap as you bite into it. Additionally, the garlic rice anchors the dish. Ten. I'll be back to check out both their brunch and lunch menus.

Been here a couple times and the Food is absolutely amazing especially the Baja fish tacos and brisket tacos. Service is amazing like wise and the ambiance is amazing. Gives the feeling of a 1970 diner

Valentine's Day menu

I've been wanting to try this place for a while after seeing all the positive reviews. And since I was craving some elevated diner food for Valentine's Day, my husband decided to take me here. I was a little disappointed to see that there was a prix fixe menu but I kept an open mind. Here are my thoughts on each dish: 1. Cheesy Potato Croquette: Delicious. Can't go wrong with some fried fluffy potato and cheese. Especially when paired with caviar and some added sweetness from the beet purée. 10/10 2. Strawberry Salad: I ended up getting a tongue ulcer from this. It was SO acidic! As someone who integrates vinegar and lime into my dishes on a daily basis, I was shocked. It wasn't only the vinaigrette; it was also the strawberries themselves. And the crème fraiche didn't do much to balance the sourness of the dish. 5/10 3. Peas and Carrots: Way too much sauce. And why were we given a spoon and knife to eat this? I was struggling to pin down my shrimp to cut it and the spoon collected way too much sauce per bite, making each one overly salty. Overall I was unimpressed with this one. 6/10 4. Beef cheek "Reuben" & Yellowfin Steak: We got one of each to share. The yellowfin was great. The demi sauce was rich and balanced. 7/10 The deconstructed Reuben on the other hand, was interesting on the first bite, but got progressively worse the more I ate it. It was extremely salty and unbalanced. I felt that they should've skipped the rye dust altogether and given us the whole loaf. I was really struggling to finish this one and I heard similar comments from other guests who ordered the same. 4/10 5. Ice cream sundae: I liked this. The strawberry preserves paired great with the chocolate and I liked the crunchy textures. Overall a solid sundae. 8/10 As someone who struggles to drink water regularly, I drank almost 5 glasses that night. And an additional 3 when I got home. Our experience was honestly a little disappointing due to the food, especially since our bill came out to be over $200 (with an additional glass of wine). But service was not bad and I did like the ambiance of the place. It was a little chilly though, and I felt bad for the guests that had to sit outside in the cold with no patio heaters.

Pastrami sandwich with fries!
Joy C.

This place is delicious and the interior is well decorated. Highly recommend the pastrami sandwich and their fries are great! Their chili fries are okay; would prefer more chili vs peperoncini. Overall would recommend!

Blue Corn Flour

Where is the best place to park nearby?

Parking is on the streets around the restaurant

Any outside seating?

Yes. Small tables, 2 chairs ir the big bench.

Anything for a vegan to eat?

Considering that the owners are running the best bbq in OC, I highly doubt anything is 100% vegan because even their fries are fried in beef tallow.

We stopped by here on my birthday for a nice evening dinner. Got there a little before sunset. There's just something magical about eating outside during a sunset, especially at the Orange Plaza. The restaurant has such a cool look and vibe! We started off with the Hamachi crudo, salmon ceviche, and a bowl of clam "chowdah". The crudo was absolutely delicious, highly recommend. The salmon ceviche was really good but a bit heavy on the sauce for me. The clam chowder had whole clams in the shell throughout. That was fun to pick them out! For entrees we got the lean and mean plate with sea bass. It comes with salad and rice, we substituted the rice for black beans. We also got the skirt steak "bulgogi" which was served on top of mushrooms and bok choy with a sweet soy sauce. They accidentally brought out salmon instead of sea bass, but were very apologetic. They brought out a sea bass on the side and comped the entree to make up for it. Great service right there! The salmon and seabass were both delicious and cooked perfectly. The steak was tender and juicy, full of flavor. As a birthday gift they brought out a thai milk tea blondie sundae which was soooo good! Get it if you like sweets. I wish the owners all the best in their future endeavors, they created a great restaurant that many will miss. I have gone the past 2 years and never had issues getting it on the first day. This year was different. I got there around 5:05 and walked into the shop to see a lot of tables empty. I was shocked to see that. I waited in line with maybe like two people in front of me and guess what they asked of Pliny was still available. The guy working said to the people in front of me that they sold out. It was my turn I asked if they had it and the guy said that they had a line since 3pm and that they sold out of the keg. We ended up getting two beers since we went anyways but that's when things didn't add up. He kept telling all the other people that started to show up the same thing. These are reasons why it didn't add up 1) empty seats inside but had a line since 3pm and beer was released at 4pm 2) I don't think the people going for younger would just order one beer and not try other RR beers? 3) only one guy working beer counter and having to clean the tables and make sandwiches? 4) 12 oz pours of beer and keg with about 1984 oz would make it 166 beers. No way they sold 166 beers in an hour with one person working the bar and shop empty in an hour. They could have posted on their instagram or socials that they sold out but failed to do so. I'm sure a lot of people all night were disappointed to see that they didn't have it or post anything about it.

This year, we opt'd to try Haven Craft Kitchen & Bar in Old Town Orange. The menu looked enticing and the Yelp reviews were positive. Such a cute, modern Californian restaurant with chill/laidback vibes. Known for their gourmet comfort food, craft cocktails, and an extensive selection of beer, wine, and whiskey, it offers a warm atmosphere with indoor and patio seating. The menu emphasizes fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients. Definitely a place that could be good for brunch, dinner, happy hour, and group hangouts. Our server was nice and attentive. Just parking along the Old Towne streets can be a pain, but we lucked out with front row parking. The hubs & I got different dishes for our appetizer, entree & dessert courses, so we could try a lil bit of everything. French onion soup, duck confit & sticky toffee pudding for me and locally grown burrata, 6 oz prime flat iron steak and pumpkin cheesecake for him. My soup was deelish. Full of depth & onion flavor and cheesy goodness. Not overly salty at all, like others can sometime be. The duck was moist and accompanied the beans, pork belly sofrito & spring onion well. I was pleasantly surprised, since I'm usually not a huge fan of beans. The sticky toffee pudding was decadently sweet and rich. I could only take a few bits, but glad I was able to try it. Not something I'd order on my own accord usually. The hub's burrata app was ok, wish it was more softer in texture, to eat & spread with the grilled toast. His flat iron steak was cooked perfectly, to our medium-rare specifications. It was soft and tender. His pumpkin cheesecake was surprisingly sooo good. Definitely my fav of the 2 desserts. I'm not a huge pumpkin fan, but it was light & subtle and not an overly rich cheesecake. It was surely baked to melt in your mouth. My hubs & I finished that dessert, for sure! Mmm..
