Sad to see this place go! If you haven't heard they're closing on April 30th, 2026. Do yourself a favor and go check them out before then! We stopped by here on my birthday for a nice evening dinner. Got there a little before sunset. There's just something magical about eating outside during a sunset, especially at the Orange Plaza. The restaurant has such a cool look and vibe! We started off with the Hamachi crudo, salmon ceviche, and a bowl of clam "chowdah". The crudo was absolutely delicious, highly recommend. The salmon ceviche was really good but a bit heavy on the sauce for me. The clam chowder had whole clams in the shell throughout. That was fun to pick them out! For entrees we got the lean and mean plate with sea bass. It comes with salad and rice, we substituted the rice for black beans. We also got the skirt steak "bulgogi" which was served on top of mushrooms and bok choy with a sweet soy sauce. They accidentally brought out salmon instead of sea bass, but were very apologetic. They brought out a sea bass on the side and comped the entree to make up for it. Great service right there! The salmon and seabass were both delicious and cooked perfectly. The steak was tender and juicy, full of flavor. As a birthday gift they brought out a thai milk tea blondie sundae which was soooo good! Get it if you like sweets. I wish the owners all the best in their future endeavors, they created a great restaurant that many will miss. Pricing and value/taste of food does not match the integrity of the restaurant. Ordered the pink sea brim, Alaskan cod sandwich with the clam chowder. The fish was bland, barely seasoned and the flavor profile of the fish was just all over the place. Not sure if this was just a bad batch where chefs had a bad day, but still not worth the $60 bill. My husband and I came to celebrate our wedding anniversary and he picked the perfect restaurant! We were both absolutely wowed by O Sea. We started off with the Maryland crab cakes which I would not have ordered but am SO glad he did because it was one of my favorites of the night. The chunks of crab with the assist from the zesty light slaw with pickled onions and garlic crisps was perfection. The spicy shrimp and fries were also so good. Probably some of the best fries and juicy shrimp we've had. The scallops were so rich and soft. The cioppino was delicious, I've never had anything like it! Sadly I could not partake in the oysters but my husband liked them. The Thai tea blondie was also one of my favorites. It was a nice and sweet surprise from the restaurant. I don't think I would've ordered it but I'm so glad I got to try it because the texture of the blondie is unreal and the ice cream was perfect. I'd definitely get that again when I come back. The service was great. Everyone was attentive and helpful even though the restaurant was consistently busy through the night. Personally, I'd rate the food 4/5, but the service and hospitality easily 6/5. Clam Chowder - My favorite! Very flavorful and perfectly made. (5/5) O SEA Burrito - I had the cod version. Tasty, saucy fish burrito, though it doesn't come with sides. (4/5) Lobster Roll - Just okay. The lobster chunks were more shredded than chunky, which was different from what I expected. When youre in the mood for some great and plump oysters alongside some fun orange wine and other fun food - O Sea is definitely the place you want to indulge in. My gf and her friends wanted fresh seafood with great prices (happy hour is hard to beat). Really great nautical vibe indoors but more refined than your general seafood place. Oysters: 10/10 - they came out nice shucked for the first round, but a bit more brazen for the second dozen. Flavor was still great, and they were nice and PLUMP. We had an assortments of other food, such as the crudo (great), spicy albacore on crispy rice (not my favorite, a bit small for my liking), hot shrimp (MUST GET) and steamed mussels (great broth!) I wish I could give this a higher rating, but unfortunately the negative was too important. I am constantly in search of a good Lobster Roll near me. I was excited when I read the reviews for the ones here. I don't mind spending a little more for something special that I can't make myself. My sister and I both got one. When it came, The presentation was nice but I noticed right away the bread was toasted. The ones I've gotten are always on soft, buttery rolls. This was dry and flavorless. The lobster seemed almost shredded and bland. Had to put the seasoned mayo on every bite just to give it flavor. The batter is slightly thick but the shrimp inside is nice and plump. The side of fries were a bit disappointing ...right temperature and texture but not salted or seasoned so it lacked flavor. The cioppino was packed with a generous amount of seafood and the soup is yummy and slightly spicy. The bread could be better...doesn't really go well with this type of broth. Burrito with sea bass...it was filling but average performance, Staff is attentive and space is open and relaxing. The food here was great!! We ordered the poke, spicy tuna crispy rice, burrata, green curry mussels, special of the day: sea bass, green goddess salad, stone fruit salad, and bread pudding. All were delicious, the only one that was a bit disappointing was the poke (didn't seem that fresh and had a weird texture). Our favorites were the spicy tuna crispy rice and burrata toast. We were checked on multiple times to make sure we had everything that we needed or if we needed anything else they were very helpful the whole time I would like to say that our server Filly was just outstanding very attentive very kind. With all the other flavors added on tile it was good. 3/5 stars Agua Fresca of the day was fruit punch and that thing had so much flavor with so many different fruits that they have added to that fruit punch I can't help but say it's amazing. I had two glasses and I wanted more. 5/5 stars I will be returning to try some of their larger dinner options. We decided to try many of the smaller plates that you can either share or just eat yourself. Filly really made this memorable for us and we're hoping to see him again. This was PLENTY for a group of 3 girls that love to pick at their meal and try different things! I think the best dish was definitely the hot shrimp. I just could not get enough. My only complaint about the dish is that it sits in the oil at the bottom of the plate but the flavor, crispiness and portion is perfection! It comes with fries or salad, of course we had to get the fries. These are also well seasoned as well. No plain bites here! The steamed mussels were well cooked and tasty. The ceviche was also very good. If I had to change anything about this meal, I probably would have skipped the soup and salad and gotten another small bites dish! We had a bit of an unexpected experience here, but the service, ambience, and selection was absolutely amazing and the staff completely made it right. We would come back again. What really impressed us was how the restaurant responded. They didn't just replace the dish-they went far above and beyond and ended up comping our entire meal, including drinks and dessert. That level of customer service says a lot about a restaurant. Anyone can have an issue in the kitchen, but the way a place takes care of its guests is what really matters. The staff here treated us incredibly well and made sure we left happy. We've been coming here for years and we're so happy to see that this place was bustling. She raved how nice the burrata and burger was last time she went. 1. The burrata with apricot mustard an compote was ok. My wife said that they changed it. It used to be burrata topped with honey, orange marmalade, slices of spicy red peppers with basil. She raved how nice this was and loved the flavors. 2. The fish and chips were cooked perfectly. The sides were ok. The tartar sauce was runny and lacked flavor, and the thinly sliced cucumbers were also lacking in flavor. I don't know if it was supposed to be pickled, as there was no vinegar taste. 3. My wife's double cheeseburger was fine. It was a little greasier than before. The fries were great, flavorful and crispy. Burger enthusiasts will be satisfied. There was a nice side sauce too. I used it as an alternative to my tartar sauce. The service was OK. It wasn't busy (Tue night, 6pm) but we felt it was slow. We felt like we had to wait for our menus, appetizer, plate clearing and bill longer than average. No matter for either seating issue, you'll adapt quickly so let's order and eat. A background loop will dull the crackle and crunch of the Calamari Fritti. Everything on offer here is accurately described. So let's take a look see at what O Sea has to eat. Bread Service is outsourced from Sadie Rose Bakery. It is two slices of thin grilled Sour Dough. As bread pays homage to Mathew 4:4 "Man shall not live on bread alone." The bread will come in handy for scooping whatever your spoon may have missed. Crispy Calamari was a basket of tender Togarashi Dusted Squid Rings, Faces and Arms reaching out to embrace your tongue. These were crunchy to the end. Two little cups of White Miso Tartar Sauce and Oaxacan Chili Oil joined the party for dipping. The Oaxacan Chili Oil was mild. So maybe sneak in your jar of Fly By Jing to get the burn you and the Squid deserve. All things considered the Calamari was worth every bite and just fine with only Lemon or simply neat. Get some. The Wild Maryland Jumbo Lump Crap Cake was as touted. No filler. It was served with Spicy Mayo (read a squeeze of Sriracha) and truly excellent Thai Slaw with Garlic Chips. It was all Crab all the while it lasted. Lightly breaded to give it a cloak of crunch after a quick turn on the flat top. This was O Sea Dee-lightful. The Green Goddess Salad was, well green. It dropped off sharp after that. Fit for a Goddess? Not so much. The Baby Kale had three inches of stem on each whole leaf and would have been the fantasy of any Cud chewing Cow. The Corn Nuts came from one of those 2 oz bags you'd impulse buy at the ARCO Convenience Store instead of Peruvian Gigante Cancha that grace Salads and Ceviches in Lima. The Dressing was thin, a bit watery and hopelessly unGoddess like. Green Goddess Dressing should be thick, creamy and redolent of Garlic, Mayo blended with Herbs (Parsley, Cilantro, Scallions, Dill etc). This Salad was prepared by someone in their Salad Days and would've been put to better use if all the ingredients had been loaded into the Vitamix and rendered a Smoothie instead. Cod Tacos featured Cod nicely done. The two Tacos were topped with Pico de Gallo (a pleasant Salsa), Pickled Red Onions, Shredded Cabbage, Spicy Mayo, all on a Mejorado Corn Tortilla which is a hand crafted platform for showcasing the Taco guts. These Tortillas are made from Flour, Butter, Vegetable Oil, Salt and Baking Powder creating a unique toothsome taste. Light and fluffy they were. You might ask for some Salsa Picante or finish off the jar of Chili Crisp you smuggled in. The two Tacos were Bachelorette Party Buffet sized minis but good eats nonetheless. O Sea is a charming restaurant in Old Towne Orange that serves fantastic food and has a great waitstaff. Their menu rotates based on the ingredients they are able to get their hands on. They place a major emphasis on the freshness and quality of all of their ingredients which is something I really appreiciate. The restaurant gives an upscale yet casual ambiance to it and it's very easy to feel welcomed in the space. The service was excellent. They were very attentive and nice, willing to go the extra mile to ensure our party had everything we needed. The food was tasty and had a noticeable freshness to it. We were specifically impressed with their Chilean sea bass and shrimp aguachile. Since it was Happy Hour, we also ordered off of their Happy Hour menu such as the oysters and cheeseburger. These were also very good considering their price. We also ordered bottles of wine which were half off during their Happy Hour. The restaurant only serves beer and wine, it does not have hard liquor. But considering atmosphere, it really works with the restaurant. All-in-all, we had a fantastic late lunch at O Sea and it's definitely a restaurant I am going to come back to soon. Came here for OC Restaurant week. We arrived at a good time for lunch hour because we were able to get seated before the rush came in. The place is clean and the interior is quaintly decorated. The staff is warm and welcoming. They have a 25$ lunch deal that gets you an appetizer and entree. We picked the clam chowder as a starter and a lean and mean plate with shrimp and cheeseburger as entrees. Clam Chowder- It was creamy with a generous amount of clam pieces. It was, however, on the watery side and could have used more seasoning. Lean and Mean Plate with Shrimp- The grilled shrimp was fresh and the portion was generous. I really wish they could have seasoned it better though as it was rather bland. I do appreciate the charred lemon. The nori rice that came with it and fluffy and the side salad had a zesty dressing that added brightness to the meal. Cheeseburger- The burger patty was nice and juicy with gooey melted cheese. The ambiance was clean and bright with a subtle nautical flair, as befitting a seafood restaurant, I got the Steamed clams in Thai green curry broth, and made it spicy for an additional $1.95. The accompanying grilled bread was a tad over charred, but tasted fine. I got a glass of Riesling to accompany it, as it was labeled as "good with spicy food", and it did not disappoint. My friend got the poke bowl, which looked good and she enjoyed. Our server was very solicitous and on top of things, but we were the only diners in there for a while so it would have been incredibly remiss if we didn't get good service. It's perfect for wine fans who cannot choose from their very interesting list. On to the menu... Tijuana Caesar ($16.95) : Kale and baby romaine, pepitas, cotija cheese, and tajin. Love the crunch of the little pepita nuts. The dressing for me was too creamy and lacked more anchovy bite. Bonus points for recognizing the birthplace of the Caesar Salad! Daily Cioppino ($38.95): Fresh fish, manila clams, mussels and mexican white shrimp. Slightly disappointed that the broth was more sweet than savory - but it also has a nice spicy kick to it. Grilled rustic bread looks perfectly charred, but is actually soft and doesn't absorb the broth well, I would have preferred a crunchier, thinner set of slices - another slight disappointment. Lean and Mean Plate ($24.95): with nori rice, garden salad, grilled lemon - we chose Salmon as the protein. Beautifully presented plate and the salmon is nicely grilled crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Overall, very good but not outstanding service, and there's room for more value here, given the prices charged. We avoided some of the other fresh fish dishes that are priced $60+. Sunday was a great time to visit the Hilbert museum and then walk around old town Orange. We have been meaning to try O Sea and had a late lunch there. Everything was perfect. Our waiter was so nice and they put a carafe of water on our table right away so we didn't have to ask for refills. The menu was just perfect for me. I had the Seabass grilled with a double salad and eliminated the rice. My boyfriend had the Seabass burrito and he said that was excellent. We also split a flight of wine and that was really fun. It was just the perfect amount of wine since we didn't want too much and we actually liked them all but our we're favorites was #1 for Scott and #3 for me. You have a choice of 2 ounce pores or 3 ounce pores and we split the 3 ounce. Will definitely come back here read more

Service was 5 stars, my waiter was super attentive and the host was very welcoming. 5 stars on the presentation the food looked amazing but I was a bit underwhelmed with the taste. For me the price did not match the taste. Again this is my opinion, and I do not mind at all paying pricier if the food knocks my socks off. The 3 stars mostly come from the flavor of the food. The kumomoto oysters were good and the sauces that came from it were yummy. My only complaint was one of the kumomoto oysters had thick white milky cream coming from it and tasted a bit bitter. I believe it was probably spawning, I feel like if I'm paying close to 3.50 per oyster I would expect closer inspection of the oysters. The others were really great though! I just chose not to eat that one. The ceviche was good, but not amazing. I feel that the sauce they had would've paired better with a white fish maybe? Don't get me wrong the dish was good overall but the flavors did not pop out as anything exciting, again a bit underwhelming for a dish that was close to 20 bucks. I really really wanted to like the crispy rice dish, but this was my least favorite. The spicy mayo was just a bit too salty for me. Each piece was a bit too big and awkward to hold using the chopsticks they gave and the rice was too crunchy. I know that sounds silly but it wasn't the nice satisfying feeling of a crunchy outside and soft inside but more like a nature valley bar crunchy. I had to use my fork and knife to get into it. Overall I would definitely be back to maybe try some of their other dishes that they offer, it makes more sense for me to come during happy hour where I feel the prices are more reasonable. read more

I ordered the shrimp and fish tacos and it was served with rice and beans. My date ordered a ceviche and it was served with chips. I came in at 2 pm and was able to sit outside, inside had plenty of open seats. My server greeted me and brought me ice water not too long after getting seated. I ordered half a dozen happy hour oysters, which were baja nautilus, and the spicy tuna on crispy rice. Oysters were amazing, clean, sweet, creamy, with just enough brininess. The spicy tuna was a tad disappointing, the spicy tuna itself was too salty and then the drizzled sauces only enhanced the saltiness. Luckily, the crispy rice helped balance the salt but not much. Will be back for more hh oysters but will go with the oaxacan hot shrimp next time. read more

I am so sorry I forgot to take photos of the amazing dinner we had. First off our server Allison was great and gave us great recommendations for apps and dinner. We brought our own wine and Mike the owner came over and explained their unique non corkage fee experience. Spoiler Alert - they don't have a fee but in lieu of the fee they pour a small glass extra and you get to go and introduce yourself to a fellow patron and give them the glass. This was a great experience we met the people next to us and I shared about the wine and the region it was from. What a great idea and it made it really fun. We had the spicy wild Tahitian albacore tuna on crispy rice and wow was it amazing. We then moved on to the clam chowder with actual clams in the shell. It was delicious along with yummy bread to dip in the soup. We had the special wild caught salmon for the main dish and it melted in your mouth. Finished off with the salted Carmel brownie and ice cream. This was the perfect finish to an amazing evening. The vibe in the restaurant is great and open the music level was perfect. Food was pretty good for their happy hour for small bites! we came in to get the happy hour oysters and the crispy tuna rice, and the oysters of the day were a bit on the salty side, but it was fine since oysters tend to have different flavors depending on where they come from; the oysters were shucked clean though which I enjoyed and it also came with their own house made cocktail sauce and mignonette. The crispy tuna rice was flavorful and they were not shy with the tuna portioning! Flavors were great and fresh. Service was good and lots of staff asked us how we were going through the whole time.
