Quesadilla Dorada it's like an empanada but made with masa. Veggie filled.

I really liked this place. The chips are cooked in tallow and very fresh and crisp. Thr guacamole is chunky and a big serving. Also served with a fire roasted salsa and jalapeño creama. I also had a vegetarian, empanada like but with masa. I can't remember the name but it was delicious and very fresh. I loved all the veggies inside. I also had a side of beans. I prefer more refried beans and these beans are more whole like a side of beans but not refried and I had asked ahead so I was a little disappointed but they still have a good taste I just prefer the smoother texture of a refried bean opposed to whole. Service was great. Staff was all very friendly. Food was quickly delivered. The ambiance was awesome. Outside little stools, nicely decorated with vegetation. Felt very cozy. Will definitely come back.

I visited Taco Mesita this past weekend and had an average experience. The food was great but the outdoor seating was uncomfortable. Food: The menu offers a variety of tacos and burritos. They also have horchata on the menu. The steak burrito was good and the horchata was delicious. Service: It took a long time to get our food. You order at the counter and pick up your order in a different area. Ambiance: I would have liked it more if there was indoor seating. The only seats are outside on small and low stools. The stools are difficult to sit on if you are handicapped or walk with a cane.

This is a very successful restaurant with some serious obstacles against it. Let's start with the positives: the food, the menu, and the home cooked taste to their dishes. You can take out, or you can sit in a very limited seating patio with uncomfortable metal stools and tables. All the good stuff, the wood fired bbq, the friendly staff, the wonderful smell of the wood fire, are inside layers of walls. The customers remain outside. This is a good restaurant and the product they serve is very delicious. The experience of a customer is not so great. I suggest tearing down the outer walls and making an enclosed dining area next to the open kitchen. Let us smell that steak being cooked on an open flame, please? A small investment in creating an indoor dining experience would make this place a landmark in Orange County. There would be lines around the block.

My friend suddenly craved tacos and wanted to see the late night menu, so we came right before closing... The staff were still very friendly and welcoming despite our arrival 10 minutes before close (so sorry, I didn't know their hours until we already ordered) He had the steak taco, chips, baby bean&cheese burrito, and piña drink. I got two baby bean&cheese burritos, an elote, and horchata. Everything was so good. He said the chips taste better here because they make them in beef tallow instead of other oils. The burritos were decently packed and pretty filling for being only $1.50 each! And the two sauces that came on the side (a roasted tomato salsa and an avocado sauce) complemented the meal very well, offering both options of fresh and creamy. The restaurant itself was very cozy, relaxing, warm (due to the standing heated fireplaces), and inviting. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Though the tables and chairs are metal though, so might be a little uncomfortable or cold to sit if not wearing proper bottoms

Honestly, the Chamoy, fried chicken taco, with its delicious sauce, actually I'm just gonna tell you. They served me the best chicken taco I've had in a very, very long time! Delicious, is the only way to describe it. All the tastes, just were superb together. I did not expect a taco with pineapple to be so good! It was the sauce, the presentation, such as the garnish etc. We went here today because, Some Family members wanted to healthy and keep away from seed oils. - so they were happy ! They make their own fresh tortillas, and Horchata drink is made on the premises. Furthermore, We ordered many items from the menu. Such as their Woodfire steak taco, which was quite delicious. We had a rotisserie Pollo tacos, Horchata, chips n salsa, and 2 Chamoy fried chicken taco, everything was great tasting, and affordable. Furthermore, concerning the staff, Guillermo is such a nice guy here & the employees were all friendly and smiling. Additionally, The restrooms here are a fun tangerine orange colored everything, & it's quite a sight! Outside, There is a large pile of wood, for the wood-burning stove. Which is why the entire premises smell like a delicious wood fire barbecue. The place is clean, and there is plenty of seating. Can't wait to come back !

We went here on a random Tuesday. It's a cute place outside seating. After ordering, we sat down and the staff brought our food to the table, so service great. The steak tacos were soo good they are Woodfire cooked and you can def taste it. Tacos are loaded not just basic which we appreciated. We also got the chicken tacos and same,. They had wonderful flavors. The nachos were yummy as well. I recommend this place if you're in search of some quick bites and good tacos. Don't forget the Mexican Coke to complete the meal?

I'm happy to revise my review from 2 stars to 5 stars. Came by today and staff & manager made an effort to confirm that my order was correct this time. Food was great as always. Not sure if it's the same owner from the previous old restaurant, but I been coming here the last 12 years or so.

if you're looking for a solid casual mexican spot, taco mesita in Tustin is a good one to try. we ordered a mix of things and everything came out fresh and flavorful. the steak burrito and steak tacos were both really good! It was seasoned and not dry & chicken tacos were a hit. chilaquiles had great flavor and were a nice shareable option. Definitely not super fancy, just good, consistent Mexican food spot with solid portions and tables filled for a reason! definitely a spot i'd come back to when craving something easy and filling!

First time here and was brought to this place because of OC restaurant week. Pros: -pork taco - the best of the 3 offered. Very large taco and very tasty. -piña agua Fresca- very refreshing and not overly sweet - I liked that they had a covered patio with side covers to keep sun and flies out. Cons: - The guy taking our order at the walk up window was very abrasive like a drill sargeant- no finesse at all and we felt like it was just us that received that attitude - HUGE negative - taquitos and quesadilla and salsa were meh. Would we go back? Maybe for late night happy hour menu. Pork tacos are reduced to under $4

Taco Mesita is located near old town Tustin. They have a drive thru and a small outdoor patio. This restaurant gives me palm spring vibes aesthetically. We dined on a Saturday around 12pm. Brunch ends at 1pm so we just made the cut off but so glad we did. The French toast was fluffy and absolutely delicious. For $8.75 you honestly couldn't go wrong. I also really enjoyed the breakfast taco ($4) the potatoes were crisp and the eggs were solid. Hubs ordered the steak tacos($6) which were also great. The steak was charred but tender, flavorful as well. The only miss was the pollo burrito. The chicken was shredded and just didn't taste great. I was pretty disappointed and only took 3 bites. I was kicking myself in the foot as I should have ordered the breakfast burrito! Next time! Otherwise chips were crisp and loved the accompanied salsas. Service was a bit of a miss as we had to wait around 6-10 minutes for someone to take our order. The water refill station was also low so had to tip the container to get water out. However, just minor things that could have been a one off with short staffing. Overall, solid spot in the OC. I would dine here again.

One of my favorite spots to visit in Tustin. A great location with a drive-thru and an enclose outdoor seating area. With their unique menu, the cashier is always very helpful in making suggestions and describing the food. I've tried many things and have loved it all! The winners are the tallow fried tortilla chips, the Chilaquiles and all the tacos and burritos. I need to remember next time to take advantage of their happy hour menu.

I enjoy their seating area and the overall vibe this place brings. They have a great late night happy hour menu. We went for breakfast recently to give the rest of the menu a try, and they are consistent in flavor. The tortillas are good, and they give you a fair amount of protein. I think their jalapeños were extra spicy because their salsa had a pleasant kick to it. Service is nice and they are fast. They bring the food out to you and they check in to see if you need anything else - even though the place is more order at the window and have a seat experience. Flavor wise - this place is a little on the saltier side for everything we've tried, and they keep their meat in bigger chunks. It's a purely preference, but I would've preferred the chorizo broken up a bit more to get crispier. Other than that, it is a solid place to try if you are in the area.

Updating my review after another visit to Taco Mesita -- the first visit in a while! I came during their late night happy hour and there were more people there this time, which made me happy knowing that they're doing well! Super cute and casual late night spot with plenty of outdoor seating + a drive thru. You order at the window and they bring food to you. The food quality is amazing for the price, and I'm so happy I can get restaurant quality food with the "fast food" convenience! I love the handmade blue corn tortillas. They also cook everything in beef tallow. Here's what I got: - chips and salsa (whipped Jalapeno and smoky tomato salsas) - arroz con pollo (bone broth rice and rotisserie chicken) - wood fired chicken tacos - pork shoulder tacos - margarita ($2!)

Do you take reservations for a big party o such as over 15 people?

We do not take reservations. It is a casual place with only 6 tables.

I just bought the co-branded Taco Mesa/Taco Rosa Gift Cards from my local warehouse store...since yours is an offshoot/baby restaurant to the OG's, may I use these GC's to dine with y'all? And if not, please consider for the future 👍🏼

That's so cool! Thank you so much for your business. Unfortunately, as you guest it we are not set up to take the gift cards from Mesa and Rosa, but I will talk to Ivan and see if it's possible for us to set that up.

I am on a cardiac diet and therefore very limited in my salt intake. Is it possible to get dishes salt-free?

Salt is added to all of our dishes, including the marinates for our meats, and we would not be able to serve them without salt. The only items we could sever without salt would be the elote without parmesan cheese and fresh chips without salt.

Hi, are there any vegetarian or vegan options? Are the refried beans vegetarian friendly (eg no lard and Rice (no chicken stock)?

All of our snacks are vegetarian and the bean and cheese burrito is vegetarian. Our beans do not have lard. We also have a vegan blue corn tamalito. We do not serve rice.

Hey, is this place by the owner of Taco Mesa?? Edit: Wonderful!! I love taco Mesa!

It is from Ivan Calderon and his son Nico Calderon, with a small menu, focused on woodfired steak, wood rotisserie chicken, and al pastor.

We got the flour, but once I unwrapped it from the foil, it was quite dry. The al pastor taco was okay, but very dry- 2.5 stars. The asada taco was not bad- a little dry but flavorful- 3.5 stars. The fish taco was good but not crispy. I would get it again for Taco Tuesday, but Rubio's is much better. The best item was the FISH BURRITO- 5 stars. The fish was tender and the filling was seasoned perfectly, and the added guac gave it soo much FLAVOR! I've got to try their other burritos. We also got French fries and they were pretty good- 4 stars. Huge portion- probable enough for 3-4 people! We were so hungry I forgot to take a picture lol. Would get again. Looking forward to their WAVE WED: Baja fish tacos $2 Baja shrimp tacos $2.50 Shrimp ceviche $8 They also have POZOLE on the weekends. The inside is small but there is seating on the side of the restaurant. Happy eating! Yelp review #2- 2026
