I'm going to start this review by saying we go here often and we love the food. Quality is great and flavor is there. The drive through can take a bit , but it's not fast food so that has never bothered me. My one gripe, and it's enough for me to knock 2 stars, is their stinginess with salsa. Only Mexican restaurant I've ever been where they are vehemently stingy with their salsa. Order chips and pay close to $5 after tax and you get a solid amount of chips, but they only allow you 2 salsa and half the time they barely fill the salsa containers (honestly sometimes like 1/4 full which is less than an ounce of salsa). Again, it's literally the only Mexican food restaurant I've ever been to that limits you on salsa and it's not even reasonable. And this last time I went finally sent me over the edge because they charged me extra for salsa because I wanted more and I finally agreed to just pay up only to get home and realize half the containers were less than half full. Honestly unacceptable. And on top of that I'm a frequent customer that will tip a few bucks every time even though I'm not dining in and I continuously get screwed on the salsa. read more

WOW. Stumbled upon this place on the Seed Oil Scout app and I cannot stop raving about it. This has to be one of the best meals I've had in OC in a while. Chef has crafted an exceptional menu with perfectly balanced and layered flavors. We got the chicken taco, nachos (secret menu item - thanks to our cashier!!), breakfast burrito, and steak tacos. I prefer more refried beans and these beans are more whole like a side of beans but not refried and I had asked ahead so I was a little disappointed but they still have a good taste I just prefer the smoother texture of a refried bean opposed to whole. This is a very successful restaurant with some serious obstacles against it. Let's start with the positives: the food, the menu, and the home cooked taste to their dishes. You can take out, or you can sit in a very limited seating patio with uncomfortable metal stools and tables. All the good stuff, the wood fired bbq, the friendly staff, the wonderful smell of the wood fire, are inside layers of walls. The customers remain outside. This is a good restaurant and the product they serve is very delicious. The experience of a customer is not so great. I suggest tearing down the outer walls and making an enclosed dining area next to the open kitchen. Let us smell that steak being cooked on an open flame, please? The steak was charred but tender, flavorful as well. The only miss was the pollo burrito. The chicken was shredded and just didn't taste great. I was pretty disappointed and only took 3 bites. I was kicking myself in the foot as I should have ordered the breakfast burrito! Next time! Otherwise chips were crisp and loved the accompanied salsas. Service was a bit of a miss as we had to wait around 6-10 minutes for someone to take our order. The water refill station was also low so had to tip the container to get water out. I have to bring down my rating from a 5 star to a 3 star but the service has gone down, and while I've let it pass the last 4-5 times, today just made it for me. Again our drive thru order was incorrect. We repeated to the girl taking drive thru orders that we wanted a bean and cheese burrito add a scrambled egg. Repeated it 3 times. Still go it wrong. There's green chili's, onions, potatoes, barely any beans, and the egg is not scrambled. We asked for chilaquiles with the crema and cheese on the side, repeatedly, but everything is on the chilaquiles. Chilaquiles used to be good, today they taste old. If it were our first time, I'd eat them thinking that's how they taste. We ended up going to another place in Orange to get breakfast. Getting home to see your orders are wrong 2, 3, 4, 5 times is just frustrating. What a waste of time and money because no one liked their food since it was incorrect. I placed an order for breakfast burritos to be picked up early for my group at work. I got vegetarian, steak, and chorizo burritos. They were excellent! I really appreciate that they have a drive through. I went around noon on a Friday and I only had to wait behind one car. I tried their fish tacos.
