I saw OBRA bakery on tiktok so I decided to stop by on a Wednesday before lunch time. It was pretty quiet. When you walk in you will be greeted with counters of pastries, empanadas, single cake slices and cookies. Everything looked really good. My sister-in-law got a breakfast burrito and I got the breakfast sandwich and one chicken empanada and one beef empanada. The empanadas were really good and full of flavor. I think it would be really great as an option for a big party or a gathering since they cater as well. The breakfast burrito was very greasy, and it was not portioned out correctly, so every part of the burrito was just in clumps in different sections and you couldn't really get a bite of everything at any point. The breakfast sandwich was pretty good. I thought it was very evenly balanced. The croissant was delicious. All in all I could go back for the empanadas but more realistically I will stop by again to pick up a box of empanadas for parties. read more

I picked up 3 empanadas this morning. I was looking at the food displays but she walked to the cash register, and was talking to me from there... she said you need to order here. I was trying to pick up flavors. Jalapeño, sausage and ropa vieja. I came from 20 min away just to try this place. The small box had a tape to keep it closed. Had this book marked for a couple months and was finally able to go give em a try. I placed my order on their website, I picked several different empanadas and a dozen of the potato balls. Got there on time for my scheduled pick up and I was greeted by the 2 employees. They have a pick up area, so you don't have to wait in the order line. I let the employee know I had an online order and provided my name. She found my order and asked for a couple of minutes while she put my order together. They don't pre-pick it, she put my order together when i got there so it wasn't just sitting and waiting. This ensures everything is fresh. I tried a couple of empanadas - and I wasn't a fan of them because they were baked. I'm from the San Gabriel valley and I've been getting my empanadas from Tito's (IYKYK). The baked crust just didn't cut it for me. Potato balls - I thought they were really good and was the star of the show here. They are giant compared to Porto's. The meat is well seasoned and they don't crumble and fall apart when you bite into them like Porto's. They do have a lot more potato - this is why they don't break apart. My boyfriend came to OBRA a few weeks and mentioned how much he loved it so we came on Saturday morning so I can try it! I got the breakfast empanada cause he said it was good. I liked it but the only thing I will say is that there was barely any egg in the empanada. I think what made up for it was the sauces but I do wish there was more egg which my boyfriend said last time there was. My boyfriend ordered the breakfast burrito. OBRA is a nice little Latin American inspired bakery known for its Empanadas. I tried the BBQ pork and the Beef Empanadas, which is their best seller, both of which costs about $4-5. The outside of the pastry was baked pretty well, good texture. The meat filling was I thought was decently seasoned and was pretty filling. Stopped by Ombra Hand Bakery and wow... everything looked absolutely beautiful and fresh. I ordered the cubed sandwich, and it did not disappoint. The bread was soft on the inside with the perfect crisp on the outside, and every bite tasted fresh and flavorful without feeling overly heavy. Ok so this spot is a hidden gem. The location is very central, the staff are very friendly, the interior is so clean and spacious, but most of all the food slaps...so hard! I tried multiple empanadas, potato balls, a chicken pie, and some desserts. They have a really solid selection of ready to go pastries, but also a whole menu of cooked-to-order sandwiches and burritos. WOW! Came here on a friday morning, about an hour after they opened! Little to no line, so service was super quick, and the lady at the front was super nice and decriptive about all of the menu items that they had available. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by the sight of all of their baked goods (empanadas, desserts, etc). I got the apple turnover, OBRA beef ball, ropa viejo empanada, and an iced tres leches coffee. Both the salsas and sauces that came with went beautifully with each savory item. The empanada was fluffy and flaky and was delicious, the OBRA ball reminded me of porto's potato ball, and was maybe even larger than that, and the apple turnover as my dessert was sooooo good. Came to Obra Handbakery with my coworkers for lunch. For a while, I had seen this place featured on social media and I was curious to check it out. It's located in a small strip mall with just enough parking. As you enter, you'll be going through the path where you can view all of the items in their glass displays. Take note of what interests you, and you'll place your order at the register after viewing all the baked goods. Everything looks bright and clean. The dining area is spacious and there are many tables. There was not a lot of people while we were there. One big group with about six people and a couple other single people. I ordered the Ropa Vieja burrito since I wanted something simple to eat. I also ordered a beef and potato ball also since it's my favorite at another bakery. Unfortunately, the ball was not included with my order when I picked it up. After eating my burrito halfway, I went back up to the pick up area to ask for it. No apology or anything. In fact, they made me feel a little guilty or something because I was asking for it. Not very friendly service with that encounter. I was polite and nice about it too, but I guess it was an inconvenience for them to heat it up for me. I also had ordered the take and bake empanadas to eat at home. My coworkers all had the empanadas and it looked like two was enough for them. It looked like they were stuffed with the filling. As for my burrito, it wasn't what I had expected. The shredded beef was very sparse, and you can see slivers of the pieces of beef as it was filled with a lot of french fries. There's also egg inside the burrito. The flavor was not for me. Came across this bakery on Yelp and finally stopped by this weekend to pick up some empanadas. I ordered one beef & potato empanada, one sausage & potato empanada, a Cuban sandwich, a chocolate chip cookie, and a peach & dulce de leche turnover.
