Located at the LAB of Costa Mesa, the restaurant is hidden and tucked away deep within the plaza. This place is busy constantly the inside is incredibly tiny, but we were lucky enough to find parking and a table in front of the restaurant. Food had good flavor, had the Chorizo burrito and the green salsa definitely complimented the ingredients all together. Red and green salsas are available at no extra charge (bonus). I split a spiced soyrizo with my husband. It had a good mix of ingredients - not too many tater tots, not too much eggs. It does have American cheese, which is kind of unusual, but pure nostalgia for me. At $13, it's one of the more reasonably priced breakfast burritos out there. There's limited seating inside and some outdoor seating. It's kind of hard to find, tucked in the back of the parking lot of The Lab in Costa Mesa. I've tried Earlybird twice now, once in store and once via Doordash. I really wanted to love it but I was let down both times. I've tried the Carne Asada and the K-Town Sunrise. The flavors and ingredients themselves were fine but the distribution within the burrito were my biggest issue both times. My first bite into the K-Town was a mouth full of wet mushy egg. This immediately was a bad start to my burrito experience. The K-Town just was too soggy of a burrito overall, the sauce drenched the tots so I could no longer get a crispy bite. Earlybird has been on my list since they opened so I'm glad we finally got to check them out this weekend! We got there around 11ish and there was no line, it was packed but mostly from people picking up orders (which now we know we can just order online and pick up). We knew we wanted to try their bacon bird but when we got to the register the sando looked good and their Korean inspired burrito (we want to come back to try those 2). We ended up spilling the bacon bird and it was perfect. While we waited we grabbed coffee from the nearby coffee shop and by the time we came back we were able to grab a seat outside. The burrito itself had good flavor. I liked how evenly distributed everything was. The sauces were also good, with lots of flavor. The sauce in the burrito itself was a bit spicy for me so I would say no sauce next time. We are fans of Earlybird and want to come back! Also the service was great! read more

I will start with the good, the burrito is delicious it has gooey American cheese crispy tots and the meat is good, all together make a good breakfast burrito. I got the sausage burrito and strange to have chips in it as the tots have enough crunch but that's ok. The burrito was also not very big it wasn't small but i saw a sign saying something about a 1lb burrito. Maybe that's a challenge! The price is exceptional $13 for a burrito was amazing so that's a great positive. The bad. It's at the anti lab and parking is always the worst. We walked up with no one in line and ordered the single burrito, the wait we were told was 20 minutes which was crazy as there was no one there. It ended up taking over 30 minutes for a breakfast burrito. They had an influx of online orders. I wish places would prioritize the people who actually visit the store. Next time I would call ahead and pick up. The other negative which may not be so bad is we saw the US foods delivery guy dropping all the food, there's lots of controversy over us foods so take it or leave it. Came here on a Saturday morning around 10am with my sister and her family, and it definitely hit the spot! I have high expectations for breakfast burritos so I was hesitant to try this new spot but I am so glad I did! Located in The Lab, tucked away in the back is where you'll find Earlybird. The parking situation at The Lab can be tricky but if you come early morning you'll have better luck. The space itself is small, not a lot of seating inside, however The Lab has plenty of spots to set up if you want to eat here. So many items on the menu caught my eye but ultimately I went with the K-Town burrito since that is a pretty unique one. Absolutely delicious and fairly hefty. My first bite had a burst of egg yolk which is the best way to start off in my book. The beef, tater tots, aioli, and everything else mesh together so well and I would get this burrito again! My only critique would be the uneven spread of ingredients. While it was tasty it wasn't until almost halfway through that I started getting the kimchi, tots, and aioli. I'm so glad we discovered this spot. I had heard about their huge burritos, and they definitely live up to the reputation. I was really surprised by the weight when I picked up our bag. I personally preferred the Firebird over the carne asada, but we were both pleasantly surprised by their flavorful salsas. Seating is limited both indoors and outdoors, so grabbing food to go might be your best bet. And a heads-up for any old schoolers: this place is cashless. We had to try the classic carne asada especially since we heard it was a favorite, and also grabbed the Firebird because it looked too good to pass up. I'm loving the tater tots trend, and Earlybird takes it up a notch by using over-easy eggs in the Firebird. On top of that, the fried chicken adds an extra layer of crunch that really brings everything together. This was easily my favorite. Unfortunately, the carne asada didn't quite hit the same. The marinade was underwhelming and overall the burrito felt a bit unbalanced. This might be the only time I've ever wanted less guacamole. The salsas were an absolute hit with us. There are so many better burrito spots in OC, but I kept seeing the hype and decided to give this place a try. I ordered the carne asada burrito with no tater tots or tortilla strips. What I got was honestly disappointing. The burrito was overly watery and mushy--to the point where I couldn't even eat it by hand. I tried taking a few bites in the car before getting home, but it was already falling apart. They also didn't include my sides of verde and roja sauce, which was frustrating. For a $20 burrito, I expect to at least be able to hold and eat it properly. If I wanted something that messy, I would've just ordered a bowl. Plus the Asada gave off like soupy vibes and way too salty. I wonder if they gave me chorizo... I genuinely think it was a mix of asada and chorizo although I paid for EXTRA ASADA. I don't like chorizo so that was probably the over powering disgusting taste. SALTY SALTY MESS. I had to force myself to finish it. Located inside the The LAB Anti-Mall, Earlybird can get pretty hectic when it comes to parking. Seating inside is also limited, but there are outdoor areas where you can take your food. One word of caution: I ordered the Firebird burrito, and although it was labeled correctly, the burrito inside was different. If you've already waited 15-25 minutes, it's definitely worth double-checking your order before leaving. As for the Firebird itself, it had good texture and solid flavor overall, but the balance was off. The eggs were great but concentrated mostly on one side of the burrito, while the other half was much heavier on the chicken. A more even distribution would've made for a better bite throughout. Not sure if there was siriacha aioli in the burrito, or enough of it, but it needed the chili to give it the right spice. read more

The eggs were not scrambled but over easy. This made the burrito even better when you would taste the runny yolk. They have 2 varieties of sauces you can take. The green one had more flavor to me. Against my better judgement, I came on grand opening day. They were giving out free burritos to the first 100 guests but ended up giving out more than that which was really nice of them. You can order ahead on their website to save some time. They have 8 different breakfast burritos including a vegan option as well as a couple sandwiches. We tried the Savory Sausage ($13) and Firebird ($14). The Firebird is unique with chicken tenders and sriracha aioli. It was tasty and packed some heat. The sausage one was a good classic burrito but the guacamole overpowered the other ingredients. If you need some extra spice, their green salsa is good. Definitely give this place a try!! After many years of going to the Pacific Beach location, I just found out today that they opened up a location in Costa Mesa. Rejoice! I went on Valentines Day and drove from LA, so I placed my order online. It was an estimated wait of 45 minutes - I am unsure if it's because of the grand opening or Saturday holiday breakfast rush but I didn't mind. My husband ordered his carne asada with no eggs, and I tried the new K-Town breakfast burrito. I haven't seen it on the menu in recent months so wanted to give it a try. It has bulgogi, over easy eggs, tater tots, kimchi, green onions, and gochujang aioli. When I looked at the website menu I do see it is a Costa Mesa location exclusive. It was impossible to find parking on site so we did a grab and go and found a local coffee shop to eat at. The salsas and carne asada burrito were good and consistent with the other location we frequent so that's a very good sign. The new bulgogi burrito has more "wet" components than the bacon, chorizo, or carne asada burritos we have ordered in the past. The kimchi and runny egg yolks will most likely make your burrito get soggy quicker than the other flavors so I would suggest eating this at the restaurant or as quick as you can. The bulgogi portion was just okay, and cooked through, but it's very juicy and you probably should keep napkins on you. I had to take a couple bites of this burrito before getting to the meat. Overall, it's great to see a closer location in OC, and it's just as good as the Pacific Beach location flavor wise. I would most likely not order this bulgogi burrito again and instead stick with my old reliable, bacon burrito. Ventured out for our new local BB spot in CM and it was really good. Perfect breakfast spot as this spot had a ton of parking, something you never see in the afternoon. My wife and I shared the bacon bird and we still could not finish it. This thing was HUGE. Packed with flavor for sure and they gave plenty of avocado too. My wife also enjoyed her coffee. The burrito included crispy tater tots and chips that also had a slight crunch, mixed with cheese, avocado, egg, sausage and topped with the green/red salsas they had, it was such a delicious bite. Would totally come visit again to try their other burritos! If only the parking situation at the LAB or CAMP wasn't a nightmare - but I did see there was a parking spot dedicated to to-go patrons right in front of the restaurant so might have to use that next time. Manager (Andra) went to use restroom and DID NOT wash her hands and went back to handling food. GROSS!!! I was in the restroom outside the store and the lady next to me walked out after I heard her using the Restroom without washing her hands. To my surprise when I walked by the store she was handling the wraps. I went to the cashier and asked to speak to the manager and I said what happened and she said that is actually the manager. So I didn't want to post this but when I called the store the manager (Andra ) is the one who responded to me and she wasn't even apologetic. She said oh I left the restroom and came back in the store to wash them here but she did not. Also even if she did that's still gross because she's touching other things and the door everyone else touches to get in the store. Regardless she did not I watched her. She wouldn't give me anyone else to talk to so I unfortunately have to post it here. Be careful eating here. read more

I've visited this breakfast spot a couple of times now. I initially suggested it for a work catering event, and we ordered their breakfast sandwiches because they were a budget-friendly option. The sandwiches were incredibly tasty! However, most of my coworkers noted that they were cold when we arrived at work, which was just a short 7-minute drive from the spot. I think they could improve their holding system for these items. Despite that, everyone at work absolutely loved the taste and flavor of the sandwiches. Breakfast burritos have been my jam recently and I'm excited there's been so many places popping up around this city! My favorite place is definitely still the best - but it is a bit of a drive. Earlybird is closer to home so I'm interested in visting here more frequently. First - parking usually sucks here. Even though they're only open morning to early afternoon, it does take some effort to find some parking. I really enjoy that they allow you to order online. It's more convenient for me to just order ahead and pick it up. +1 The burrito is pretty good! I ordered the carne asada burrito and it was good with the asada, tater tots, and the guac. Their scrambled eggs are a bit on the firm - almost close to overdone but I get it's likely for structural integrity.
