Tried this place yesterday...it was ok, pretty fresh ingredients right on the beach. The employee gave the person infront of me a free drink for no reason. After I ordered a $20 bowl, I asked to use the outlet for my e scooter while I ate. The worker was grumpy and said yes, but then said no. If he said yes, I would have most likely been a weekly repeat customer. I guess I have to spend at starbucks instead because they allow charging. Such a bummer because I want to support a local business. The employee made it seem like it would be coming out of HIS check is it??? Update - no thanks I dont really want to come back. The service was a little slow but they were busy and we ordered lunch food right as they were transitioning from breakfast. Inhale the signature burger. It was tasty. I was craving a breakfast burrito and I was staying at the Balboa Bay Resort and went to Yelp to help me. This place is located on a corner street so might be hard to miss which I did initially. I got parking on the street a very short block away. Now to the burrito. As others have said, the hash browns are VERY crispy. My issue wasn't that however. I might be biased considering I order the same thing every time, but it's that good I always get the wakey wakey burrito with chorizo and I never ever pick chorizo for the meat but this place makes one of the best chorizo breakfast burritos. My husband and I love to drive down PCH and grab a coffee at vacancy (walking distance) then pick up burritos at Tidepoole's. We saw an influencer do this once and now we have done this a couple weekends and it's so much fun. The cashiers are always so friendly and it's a cute little shop to eat and hangout. I've been coming here off and on for about two years, and while I want to like this place, they just seem to be doing so much wrong. It feels like there isn't much care put into the business. The Service & Soda Situation: One of the most frustrating things is their soda machine. It was down for an entire year, which is ridiculous. Instead of fixing it--which takes an hour for a technician--they force you to buy expensive bottled sodas from the cooler that don't come with refills. It feels like a cheap way to squeeze more money out of customers. The Food: * Breakfast Burrito: I had it once and it was actually really good, but every time after that, the quality was poor. It was so inconsistent that I just stopped ordering it entirely. * Pizza: The pizza is decent. It's a little on the greasy side, but hey, it's pizza. Final Thoughts: This place has the potential to be really good, but the lack of maintenance and inconsistent food quality makes it hard to recommend. It just doesn't seem like the owners are invested in the customer experience. EDIT: The owner recently responded to this review, stating the business is now under new ownership. With that being the case the pizza and soda machine remarks may not be accurate any longer, stating they have improved operation. I have driven by this place so many times and have said that I need to try it out. Today was finally the day and it did not disappoint! Got the Cedar Club, Caesar Salad, and Fries. Everything was sooooo good. The fries taste like in n out except thicker and wayyyy better. The Caesar salad was perfection and didn't have a fishy taste which I'm normally worried about with Caesar's. The chicken in the salad was also so good and a must add on! The star of the show was the cedar sandwich. I'll be craving this everyday for lunch. Absolutely delicious and I loved the toasted bread. Overall we loved our meal!! Highly recommend. It's about time. After driving by this Newport Beach gem dozens (if not hundreds) of times I finally had the opportunity to stop by for lunch. Tidepoole is well known to both the locals and tourists of Newport Beach. Their storefront is front and center on PCH, so it's truly hard to miss. I stopped by today after attending a nearby yoga class and grabbed a bite to-go. Their menu was straight forward, with options like sandwiches, pizzas, light sides, etc. I ordered the Charlie Sammy: sourdough, pesto, artichoke, provolone, tomatoes, and arugula. I also paid extra to add chicken as protein. The meal was delicious and served with a sliced pickle. The restaurant was close to empty, but I bet it stays jam packed during the summer months. Despite the slow season, parking is still tough. You'll find street parking available in the nearby residential neighborhoods. If you're on vacation near the beach and wake up hungry, do yourself a favor and head over to TidePoole's. This little spot sits right across from the ocean and operates on the kind of hours that make sense for vacationers, open at 8 a.m. and closing at 3 p.m. Perfect timing for a slow morning and a serious breakfast. While scanning the menu, one item kept jumping out at me: the Wakey Wakey Breakfast Burrito. It clearly had a reputation. The only hesitation? The price. At $17 for a single burrito, expectations get pretty high. At that price point, the burrito can't just be good, it has to show up and perform like an Allstar. Luckily, this burrito absolutely delivered! I ordered for a family of six, which turned out to be a strategic move because it allowed me to sample a few different versions. First up was the bacon breakfast burrito, which was fantastic: flavorful, hearty, and easily a solid four star burrito on its own. Then I tried the sausage version... and BAM! Somehow it was even better. At that point, I thought I had already reached the peak of breakfast burrito greatness. Five star territory achieved. Case closed. Or so I thought. Then came the chorizo breakfast burrito and let me tell you. This thing was on another level entirely. If the bacon was great and the sausage was excellent, the chorizo was a slice of breakfast heaven wrapped in a tortilla. It completely stole the show. And that's not a knock on the others, they were legitimately great but the chorizo version was just that much better. Another bonus: these burritos are huge. Realistically, one burrito could easily feed two people unless you're particularly ambitious or exceptionally hungry after a sunrise beach walk. The salsa served with the burritos was also excellent and paired perfectly with everything. If you're feeling adventurous, you can ask for additional sauces as well to customize the experience. So yes, $17 for a burrito might initially make you pause, but in this case the gamble paid off especially if you go with the chorizo. Between the portion size, the flavor, and the beachside setting, it ends up feeling like money well spent. Bottom line: If you find yourself near the beach in the morning and want a breakfast that lives up to the hype, TidePoole's Wakey Wakey Breakfast Burrito is absolutely worth the stop. Just one warning: You may walk in thinking you'll share a burrito... and walk out wishing you had ordered another. read more

I called them to ask if they are gluten free because someone I was sharing them with is celiac. Also so confused why thick was listed if they changed them.
