Look I like their salsa m, but this is really just a well branded chipotle. Their meat is hit or miss, maybe it'll be warm maybe it'll be cold. For the prices and brand I would expect better. You can expect to get 2-3 day old salsa and 2-3 day old chips. For what they charge for a small portion of chips, they should be made fresh. read more

For months we've been hearing of little son and definitely wanted to try when in the area. We've been to South of Nick's so there was no question it was going to be good. The menu is a bit limited as it is a take out spot. I got the burrito bowl inside of the tortilla shell. It was very good, however!! I had asked for no beans and extra creama on the side. I knew I should've double checked with the worker. But it came with beans and no extra creama. Although they said the bowl would not be as full because it's in a tortilla shell, there was barely any corn :( We also got the bean burritos and fish tacos. And both were good. We also got a side of chips and salsa, and the salsa was literally a 2 small sauce container with a medium side of chips. Amazing experience! Located behind Nicks this small spot packs a punch! It is a bit expensive and looks like a chipotle but the food is perfect! We got the bean and cheese burritos for our son he loved them and we split the fish burrito and Cali burrito. The fish burrito was so clean and fresh tasting, the perfect recipe for a fresh fish burrito. The Cali burrito is never my go to but I wanted to share with my wife and she likes them more, I loved it! Omg what a hidden gem! It's located in the back side of Nick's and by the valet. James so friendly and walked me through the menu. There are sooo many options! There was a nice vibe to the place too! I ordered the Baja Bowl with Carnitas and it didn't not disappoint (: Parking can be a challenge. But I would recommend you park closer to the front of nicks and walk. I was so excited to try Little Son, but I have some notes having done so! We ordered the El Jefe burrito with carne asada, the nachos, and the blackened fish tacos. As far as the nachos go, I was a little nervous because the restaurant closes quite early so even though I was ordering at 5:30, I knew we probably wouldn't eat until 7:30-8 so I expressed concerns regarding the dish getting soggy. The man who received my order reassured me that he would leave the pico on the side to avoid that, but then I guess it was not communicated to the chefs so he threw on an extra bag of chips for free which was much appreciated. That being said, after "examining" the dish, I feel like soggy nachos are inevitable given that the refried beans are the base; so I would recommend a different approach to serving given that this restaurant is exclusively takeout. All that said, I really liked the nachos as far as flavor goes, so I would definitely order if I knew sogginess would no longer be an issue. The fish tacos are definitely a skip, unfortunately. There was no flavor and the fish was maybe a little overcooked? The tortillas were great though. The shining star of our meal was the burrito. This is a dish I would 1000% come back for and recommend to anyone in the area looking for a burrito. If I were only ranking the establishment by this item the rating would certainly be higher. Overall, the food is definitely not yet on par with South of Nick's but I think that the establishment is certainly new and still figuring out the waters, so I'm excited to give this another try in a few months. read more

I had the mini bean burritos with chips/salsa. I loved the burritos. They were delicious and perfect for my lunch. The only problem I had was figuring out where to park for picking up an online order. They have the valet right in front of the building for the nick's restaurant and it was super busy to get around that and a lot of the lots say no parking. read more

I'm honestly blown away by this place. Little Son might already be my new favorite restaurant in Newport Beach. Everything we had was incredibly flavorful and tasted like it was made fresh in-house. You can tell there's real care put into the food -- nothing felt generic or pre-made. Even the little things stood out, like the Coke being perfectly crisp and the salsa being absolutely amazing. The restaurant itself was super clean and had a great overall vibe, which made the experience even better. My only complaint is I really wish they had longer hours and were open on Sundays, because this is the kind of place I'd come back to all the time. Seriously, this place is incredible.
