Loved they had vegetarian options AND more than 1! Cute vibe, prices were fair. Definitely will go back when we are back in town

5 stars all around. Great tacos and cocktails. Went here a few times and had different servers and they were all patient and chill. They have outdoor seating but we choose to sit inside. The available seating outside did not have much shade at that time. Vibe and music inside was chill. Chips and salsa were delicious. I recommend looking at their daily and happy hour specials.

Such a cute spot. We decided to eat inside. Bar seating & a few tables. Great atmosphere. Cute authentic Mexican decor. I ordered a classic margarita. My hubby got a frozen margarita. Both great. Our server was so friendly. She helped us navigate the menu. I was happy to see a few vegan/vegetarian options. I ordered the potato black bean taco with cilantro rice & beans on the side. We got chips, salsa & guacamole also. Very big serving. The salsa was amazing. Just the right amount of heat & flavorful. I'll definitely be back to try the tofu tacos.

definitely my go-to mexican food spot in the Newport area. great chicken portions and great side selection for the fajitas all for just $12!!!!! not to mention the fajitas are absolutely delicious. the only cons might be the lack of seating available but i've never had to wait (don't know what it's like when it's really busy though). food sometimes takes a while to come out but other times it's quick. definitely worth the wait though. the people i have came here with have gotten tacos and burritos and always have a positive experience.

A solid taco spot. They have a ton of great taco options and a decent margarita. The staff are all very friendly and service is quick. Their snapper was my favorite!

Tacos were all amazing. Very fast service too!

Tacos were great and the service was super quick! Definitely will go back the next time we are in town.

We went here on a Sunday evening and ordered it to go! By the time we got there, our food was ready! I got two Tofu and Corn Salsa Tacos! The tacos came with Black Beans and Mexican Rice also! The Corn Salsa was not too hot but still had a little kick to it. I also liked the Tofu in the taco as well! The Mexican Rice tasted good but it was a little mushy.

I was very happy to stumble upon this little eatery. They have a nice patio area and a small dinning area inside. It's nothing fancy but the food is really good and the staff is very friendly. It's a low key atmosphere but clean. I sat at the bar and got to watch the cooks work their magic. I had the fish tacos with rice and beans. The portions were perfectly sized and everything had a wonderful flavor balance. I highly recommend Wild Taco.

this is a good little place. love that they have homemade tortillas, guac is really good, and burritos were great too. does take a while to make once ordered but not a problem if you get chips and guac

I enjoyed the fish burrito and homemade sauces. The burrito was pricey but justified based on the quality and taste. Staff is great, helpful and friendly. Great thing about this place is that there are parking spots available. There are indoor and outdoor seating and lots of neighboring restaurants and bars around.

First time trying the cute little Mexican casual restaurant on balboa peninsula. Emma was our server and she was very helpful. She told us that this place is owned by Bear Flag that has a store next to it and is the location of the original bear flag. We ordered their nachos with carnitas, the red snapper skillet and their steak fajitas with a pint of cerveza. They were all amazing. Good size. I am a nachos affacinado and these nachos were awesome. Food 5, ambiance 5, service 5. Will visit again.

They make great Tacos here at Wild Taco. Not just Fish tacos either. They have Scallop tacos, Shrimp Tacos, Tofu Tacos, you name it. Calamari Tacos and i got some fish tacos earlier today at a family luncheon. Nice place near the beach. My first time ever hearing of the place. I do not think they have been in Newport long. Nice staff and cool people. Food is a little inexpensive. Will be my go to spot.

Catch of the day and carne asada- rice sent back, no flavor. Beans-no flavor. Taco-mediocre

The sincerity in his thoughtfulness and his attention to detail left a memorable impression. I hope I spelled his name correctly. I remember he had a unique spelling. He was attentive, accommodating, and did everything he could to make our experience enjoyable. Unfortunately, this review is directed at Red O's management team. My wife and children were excited to bring me to Red O for Father's Day brunch. As a husband and father, I was looking forward to celebrating the occasion with my family. We were seated quickly, which was a great start, but my disappointment began the moment I looked at the menu. There was absolutely nothing special about the Father's Day brunch menu. It was the same basic brunch menu that appears to be offered on any regular weekend. I was hoping to enjoy a quality steak, perhaps a ribeye or filet, as a Father's Day treat. Instead, the only steak options available were a carne asada dish and an oversized surf-and-turf featuring a massive tomahawk and lobster tail designed to feed multiple people. I asked our waiter why there wasn't a ribeye or filet offered for Father's Day. His response shocked me. He explained that for Mother's Day, Red O had offered an elaborate all-you-can-eat champagne brunch complete with carving stations, multiple meat selections, and a much more elevated experience. I know he meant no harm by sharing that information, but hearing it made the situation even more disappointing. To his credit, our waiter went above and beyond. He spoke with the chef and somehow arranged for me to receive a steak that wasn't even on the menu. That level of service is the only reason this review isn't a 1-star rating. My frustration is entirely with management. Why was Mother's Day treated like a major celebration while Father's Day received no special attention whatsoever? Fathers work hard, sacrifice for their families, and deserve to be celebrated too. I'm not suggesting Mother's Day should be diminished in any way, but the contrast between the two experiences was impossible to ignore. What made this especially disappointing was having to hide my feelings from my family. My wife and kids were genuinely excited to treat me to brunch at Red O, and I didn't want to ruin the occasion for them. But the reality is that I left feeling overlooked and undervalued by a restaurant that clearly knows how to create special holiday experiences when it chooses to. Red O missed a tremendous opportunity to celebrate fathers. Instead of a memorable Father's Day experience, we were given an ordinary brunch menu and the feeling that the holiday simply wasn't important enough to warrant any extra effort. That is incredibly disappointing.

Mexican sounded good, so I decided to check it out. Great Mex is located right on the main strip on the Balboa Peninsula. It's very much a hole-in-the-wall space - with a super simple/casual set up. The space isn't large - you order your food at the counter and then there are a few tables where you can sit. I was lucky that the place was empty when I arrived - shortly after I sat to eat a bunch of people came and filled the tables. They have a good variety of Mexican dishes - nothing too outrageous, mostly things familiar to the American palate. I decided to get the two taco combo dish and chose al pastor as my protein. The tacos were super tasty - generously filled with two being enough if you're hungry but not starving. The dish came with rice and refried beans which were also good. They carry Mexican Coke, so I got one of those to finish the meal off. Service was great - they were super friendly and the food was ready relatively quickly. They also went above and beyond - two people in my party got fountain beverages but they noticed they were too watered down and were quick to replace the syrup and provide us new beverages. Overall, I had a good meal at Great Mex - definitely a standout on Balboa Peninsula.

They also had tortillas which you could eat with butter that was my first time trying that. The salsa was super fresh and not spicy at all which is usually my main concern haha. I have to commend our server Rocky!!!! He is the best, he was super communicative to our table and always made sure to refill our water and come by with napkins without us even having to flag him down! Throughout the meal, we felt repeatedly rushed. Plates were cleared quickly, and it seemed like we were being encouraged to leave before we had finished enjoying our celebration. The most disappointing part came when the bill arrived. Our server, Mercedes, told us that the tip was not included. After my mom paid and left an 18% tip, Mercedes again commented on the gratuity and stated that it wasn't the suggested amount. My mom had to explain that she had intentionally left the amount she felt was appropriate. We were genuinely surprised that a server would openly question a customer's gratuity, especially after receiving an 18% tip. Afterward, it also appeared that the situation was being discussed with coworkers within view of our table, which made us feel even more uncomfortable. I understand that restaurant work is demanding and everyone can have difficult days. However, no guest celebrating a special occasion should leave feeling rushed, criticized for the tip they chose to leave, or uncomfortable because of an interaction with their server. It's unfortunate because we were looking forward to celebrating a meaningful occasion as a family, and the service left a lasting negative impression. I hope management takes this feedback as an opportunity to coach staff so future guests have a better experience.
