Chicken and veggies (yellow, red, orange bell peppers, onions) were lightly seasoned. Came with tortillas (we got corn (4) with beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, guacamole, and choice of rice. Getting there was a bit crazy; traffic was bad and parking lot is tiny. We came around 5pm on a weekday, sat at the bar. Hot inside but saved by cool breezes wafting in and out of the open doors. This visit was for takeout: Grilled Red Snapper 3x Fish Tacos Combo -- Corn Tortillas, Tommy Sauce & Pico de Gallo on the side...cilantro lime rice and black beans, with no cheese on the beans. The order was taken correctly...but...the cook was in too much of a hurry and put cheese on the beans. They were not busy so there's no excuse. When I arrived back home I called to inform them. Nothing was offered other than an apology. I didn't expect anything for free. But they didn't even offer to make things right. definitely my go-to mexican food spot in the Newport area. great chicken portions and great side selection for the fajitas all for just $12!!!!! not to mention the fajitas are absolutely delicious. the only cons might be the lack of seating available but i've never had to wait (don't know what it's like when it's really busy though). food sometimes takes a while to come out but other times it's quick. definitely worth the wait though. the people i have came here with have gotten tacos and burritos and always have a positive experience. read more

The tacos are some of the best I have had in OC and right next to the beach so you can take your food to go with the best view in town. Me and my friends went in last Friday, excited to try a new restaurant. Unfortunately, this was the absolute worst service I've ever received in my life. I wish I got the name of our server but frankly he was too busy flirting with the hostess than to care about our table. It took 15 minutes for anyone to even approach us to get drinks. After that it took another 30 minutes to order chips and guacamole and another 30 minutes for them to be brought to our table. I would love to give him the benefit of the doubt but it was hard to ignore how truly awful the service was. What made it worse is he didn't even care, he was off on the side chatting about the dodgers. I usually don't complain but in this case I had to walk up to the bartender and ask for our sever. I was very happy to stumble upon this little eatery. They have a nice patio area and a small dinning area inside. It's nothing fancy but the food is really good and the staff is very friendly. It's a low key atmosphere but clean. I sat at the bar and got to watch the cooks work their magic. I had the fish tacos with rice and beans. The black beans are good but a little salty and the rice seemed to be overcooked because it was mushy. For the tacos, you can choose corn or flour. The corn tortillas seemed to be fresh and were pretty good! The tofu taco came with a corn salsa that was good, I just wish the tofu itself was either grilled more or had more flavor. First time trying the cute little Mexican casual restaurant on balboa peninsula. Emma was our server and she was very helpful. She told us that this place is owned by Bear Flag that has a store next to it and is the location of the original bear flag. I like that you can sit outside and eat your food. Nothing beats the fresh ocean air versus sitting indoors. We had various tacos and plates. I particularly enjoyed the cheese enchilada plate. I order a taco on the side. They have the original Mexican-style coke. Prices were AOK. Parking is easy peasy. You can park on the street or in the lots on the main street and take a little walk.
