The smallest location I've visited to date, I was glad to find them open late and park in the lot without issues after a wine tasting. The kiosk to order is conveniently placed directly underneath the two-panel menu above. My order was fairly simple. A brisket burger, that's really more like a pulled pork sandwich in style, with delicious slaw and pickles. I had a sweet tooth, so I ordered a delicious Oreo shake, entered my name and grabbed a seat. I didn't wait long and my order was presented on the metal trays they use. That burger really went down easy. Flavors galore, and didn't sit heavily, either. The milkshake was also really good. I'm trying to make those rare treats but at least I know they're the real deal! Small hole in the wall restaurant, inside a lot smaller than I thought but works. Not good for large groups or crowds. We were a forum of 4 and sat outside. A bunch of the chairs were broken and the table is so close to the wall it's a little uncomfortable. Happy there are vegan options and we got the tots with Vegan cheese and the vegan sauce delicious. Truly am having a hard time understanding. We are a family of 5. We came in when it was pretty slow. We ordered (not exaggerating) over an hour ago now. Every 15 minutes they are brining out one item. By the time one person gets the food the previous person is already done. It's now been a hour and 11 minutes and my youngest still doesn't have her food. We literally just watched a guy leave who was waiting by an hour. He gave up and I don't blame him. I do wish someone greeted us when we came in though, because after ordering we were just waiting and it felt very impersonal. The food took about 25 minutes to come out. The burgers were good! Tasted fresh and the buns were super soft. The fries however were very very crispy. I want to say they must have double fried them. If you're into super super crispy fries, definitely order them. Tots were overly slathered in sauce instead of holding up on their own merit. It's a small restaurant and doesn't hold a lot of people. My ONLY qualm is the seating. Don't expect to come here on a weekend and find a spot because we barely got seated after waiting a bit and it was only a Thursday afternoon. This is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. I don't think i'd like to bring a big group of friends here because we just wouldn't fit. I don't usually leave reviews, but today this restaurant gave me a different experience. Wow. We tried two types of burgers, the chicken, truffle fries, meat quesadillas, and the sausage sandwich ,everything was amazing. The flavor and taste of every dish were outstanding. This is a tiny tiny little shop where you can get yourself a bite when you have your burger craving. There's maybe enough room for like 10-12 people to sit inside if you cram in and a few tables outside but I do like places like this beaches they usually do a great job. I got their Southern BBQ Burger and the loaded tots for my lunch and in simple words I enjoyed it. The burger was very nicely prepared, specially the bun had such a nice softness and aroma of the brioche, and the flavors of the burger all went great together. Also mind you these are smash burgers so they will usually be served closer to med well/well done. Everything here is Halal as well, including the bacon (for all the halal eaters). The lettuce didn't hold up nor did the bun but all of the flavors were great. The tots were definitely overfried...dark brown rather than golden. Ranch dressing was a little bland...maybe missing dill? Overall pretty good but definitely pricey 23 bucks for a combo. It's been a WHILE since I've had a burger that's really impressed me and wow did this place impress me. Urban Skillet is located near the beach (the perfect place to come after) and had a good amount of parking. Seating is limited and minimal, and there were about three tables outside as well. We walked in and I love that there's a kiosk for ordering, but the cashier was available for orders as well, so whichever you prefer. Ordering was super smooth and easy. My friend and I asked if they could half our two different burgers so we could both try both burgers, and they were super cool and obliged. The burgers are soooo filling, full of GOOD meat (and quite a lot of it - I usually double patty at other places, they do that here by default), flavorful sauces and additions, and were just absolutely delicious. I was so impressed. We got the Truffle Banger and the Brisket Burger. Both were great, but I will 10000% be repurchasing the Truffle Burger next time (must love mushrooms though). We also got a side of Buffalo Mac 'N' Cheese Fries. This was my friend's choice. The mac 'n' cheese on here were sooo good (and I consider myself a big mac and cheese connoisseur haha). I wasn't a fan of the buffalo sauce, though personally. The fries in this were the thin stringy kind and they do get a bit soggy under all the other stuff going on here but that just tells you how much is going on! I've been to the Santa Monica and Hollywood locations before and I really enjoyed them, so I was ecstatic to see this location open up in OC. Since I only eat halal, this place definitely satisfies the want of yummy and probably very unhealthy American food that I so desperately crave sometimes. To be honest the price can be a bit steep, but given the location and how clean it is I personally don't mind- I see it as a treat anyways. The portions are pretty filling for the most part, but I would definitely recommend getting a side along with the burgers. Bonus if you have a +1 to share a side with since they can be gigantic. I even didn't eat a burger for a few weeks after waiting for my next trip back to OC to come back Urban Skillet to satisfy my burger craving which takes me to today - I went to the Costa Mesa location today and I can confidently say that was the worst burger I had in my life. Truly no effort put into the burger, extreme smell in the patty with one of the weirdest taste as soon as you take a bite. I genuinely don't think I can eat a burger for some time now, it literally did the opposite affect from my last time. I'm truly in disgust with how bad this food ended up today and I hope there is some attention put into the cooking process to see how the people at this location messed up the burger this bad. Comfort food, this place is legit. I tried the crispy melt burger and wow--perfectly cooked. The buffalo chicken fries were fire too--crispy fries loaded with tender chicken and just the right kick. Brisket burger did not have enough meat it was like eating a cabbage salad between two buns so that was kind of disappointing. I read a few reviews before visiting and a few people said that they felt it had too much sauce so I asked for light condiments(comes with mustard, ketchup, and mayo) and it was still too much sauce. I really think the og sauce with the onions would have been perfect. While eating my burger, one of the "guests" proceeds to try and move the electric fan to a better position for their group. I say try because the ELECTRIC CORD was under my feet because it was plugged into the wall in front of me. No apology, no acknowledgment, nothing. If I was the owner, I'd be more frustrated that PAYING CUSTOMERS were treated miserably to accommodate guests. Because look what happened, I'm on Yelp now.
