I've had shake shack before when I was in New York City, and was pleasantly surprised when I saw one open up in Costa Mesa. They do have them where I'm at in Las Vegas, but I have yet to visit any of those establishments. I was super hungry and thought I want to go try that rib sandwich. Place is easy to find right off 17th Street. You really can't miss it with that big sign. And the building is definitely unique as well so you shouldn't have any problem finding it Inside you can either choose to go digital and and skip talking to a real person. I'm old school, I actually like engaging with people. So I went to the counter. I ordered the rib sandwich without looking, and was a little shocked by the total. The sandwich itself is 15 bucks, I ordered a small fry which was $4.50, and a small drink which was $4. With a 15% tip my total came out to $28. Definitely a little shell-shocked by that. Now let's talk about the sandwich. It came to the table and at first glance it looked very small. When I picked it up there was a very generous portion of rib meat inside like a big chunk of rib meat. Huge pickles and a lot of sauce. It was a great sandwich. Do not get me wrong, what I ordered again? Maybe. They don't really have a meal deal that includes fries and a drink so it's sort of all a la carte. Now let's talk about the taste. The fries were perfectly cooked, and the sandwich itself was a solid 10. That being said, I would definitely feel more comfortable paying $12 for this sandwich, as I think 15 is a little exuberant. And you don't really get that many fries for $4.50. I can't imagine what the meal deal would have been, but I'm sure people would absolutely balk at that price. I would have given it a five-star review, but that is way too much for that sandwich. As delicious as it was, I just don't feel right spending that much for a sandwich. If it could be reworked, and the price dropped down I would be all in in a heartbeat. Bottom line? If you've been wanting to try it, I say go ahead. I rolled in after a brutal bike ride feeling like I Could eat an entire cow, saw the burger photo, and thought, "Perfect, this will fix my life." NOT What arrived was more "appetizer . I have always been curious why almost every Shake Shack location has a three star rating. I love a good burger, so I finally stopped by their Costa Mesa location to give them a try for the first time. All orders are placed at one of three kiosks just inside the front door. Take one of the stands with a number on it, enter that number on your order, and then a staff member will deliver your order to your table when it is ready. The inside of the restaurant is somewhat small, with just three booths and four tables. They have a nice patio outside which with about ten tables. Half of the tables have an umbrella over them, and there are also a few heat lamps for when it is cold outside. I ordered the Avocado Bacon Burger. It had a nice soft bun, and all of the ingredients were in plain view. I took the first bite and it was delicious. The proportion of ingredients was perfect, and I could taste them all in every bite. I wasn't super hungry, so I only ordered it with a single patty. I think next time I would order the double patty to get a little more of the beef flavor in the mix. This burger was very good, even with just a single patty. I also ordered a side of onion rings which were very good. The serving size was average, and they were nice and crispy and not oily. They have several dipping sauces which you can add to the order for free. My friend enjoyed his double ShackBurger, crinkle cut fries, and banana custard shake. I had some of the fries and they were fresh and crisp, and they obviously just came out of the fryer a very short time ago. Yes, they are a little on the expensive side, but there aren't a whole lot of bargains out there for a good burger. We gave Shake Shack Costa Mesa a second try after a less-than-stellar experience a few months ago, when our takeout order was incorrect (something we didn't notice until we got home). This time, we decided to dine in and ordered the OG--ShakeBurger, both a single (with onions) and a double (without onions). The wait was reasonable for a Saturday afternoon, and I like this location for its ample parking and plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. The store was clean and well-maintained. While I liked the soft buns and fresh toppings, I found the patties disappointing. I understand the appeal of a smash burger, but these were overly charred and dry. I've been to other locations of Shake Shack, but this was my first time at the Costa Mesa location. They're located on busy 17th street so you can't miss it! Lots of parking available in front and on the sides. I pulled up right when they opened at 11am and there was only one other person who came in after me. I ordered my food to go and they put it in a box so I could eat it in the car. The order taker was not very friendly - just matter of fact. I don't expect much but a smile would be nice. I ordered the ShackBurger which comes with cheese, tomato, lettuce & Shack sauce for $7.99. It's a good burger but the bun is a little rubbery to me. I also got an order of crinkle fries for $4.49, which were way over salted. There are better burger places out there, but if you're in the area and craving a burger, this will do. read more

Ordered from their new location recently (where pancakes r us used to be RIP) on 17th st. They were offering a Bogo deal on their truffle burger so how could I refuse ? My order came thru in good time and I of course opted for lettuce wrap. I highly recommend you go with a bun on this particular order as it be on the salty side with just lettuce. But overall the burger was juicy, delicious and the fragrant truffle came thru in every bite so no complaints there. Seems like they're getting a bad rap lately but the burgers are still solid in my opinion compared to the other options and I'm also glad there's a location closer to my home now. I love going to Shake Shack up in Brea, so I was keen on going to the Costa Mesa one since we were nearby. Overall my experience was a pleasant one! I always enjoy the Avocado Bacon Burger with double patties and their regular hamburger as well. The crinkle fries are good as well! This time I tried two products, the hot dog and ice tea lemonade. I was expecting the hotdog to be a little bit larger according to how I visualized the menu and as for the taste, it was pretty generic. The ice tea lemonade is more of a refreshing vibe, but if you prefer a more sweet taste, maybe need to add sweetener. I really enjoy that they have the calories listed on their online menu, for those who like to calorie count ^^! As always, I love Shake Shack haha. Surprisingly not too busy on a weekday around noon. I found parking without much difficulty. There is no drive through. There's limited seating inside. But plenty of seating outside, including umbrellas for shade. As usual, the regular Shack Burger with just a single patty hit the spot. I tried the BBQ Cheese Fries this time. There's BBQ powder sprinkled on top and optional BBQ sauce drizzle as well. It was fine, but I prefer the bacon cheese fries. I tried the Chocolate Salted Caramel Shake and didn't really care for it, so then I got a plain vanilla shake, but that was too plain. So next time I'll get the Cookies n Cream Shake. The onions were steaming and overall good burger. On the saltier side and doesn't have any veggies other than onion. I wanted to see what the hype was all about , I ended up with a double shack burger and fried pickles and cheese fries and regular fries.. the smash burger was good I liked the concept and flavor and they use me whole lettuce versus shredded , the meat was seasoned just right and buns were buttery and toasty . They forgot my fried onions but it was not a deal breaker . Fried pickles were perfect .. great flavor on the batter and crust and it comes with ranch dipping sauce. Cheese fries and regular fries lacked .. that WOW factor for me tbh . They did have other seasoned items right now due to summer which is like to try on a future date . I typically go to in in out or five guys and they all offer something different. So excited to have a shake shack that's not all the way in PCH. I'm aware that they have one at Irvine Spectrum, but this one is also relatively close. We came here to try the burgers instead of going to in-n-out and I'm already loving the flow and convenience of the self check out kiosks. There are non gender neutral bathrooms here as well but parking is tight. Expect to spend over $40 for two people if you're getting drinks and fries with your burgers. Generally I like Shake Shack but this location completely messed up my mobile order to where I couldn't eat it due to a food allergy (they added cheese and peppers) but also excluded the bacon that was supposed to come standard. Well, not sure if it is this location, but the quality of the food is quite poor. Puny hamburgers for the price paid. Overcooked patties, very greasy. A total disaster.
