Ah Pipeline, a Balboa classic where drunk people congregate and the food is mediocre (except for the soft serve) which was great! Service was okay and was quick, although my burger took a while to come out and it was okay at best too. $8 was wasted that night. Won't be back here but it's worth checking out.

We were out for a little beach stroll and stumbled across this little food place and had to try ! Great fast service and the food was really tasty ! Great views of the beach on a beautiful day! They have a variety of food and ice cream. !

Eh, okay. I wanted fish and chips. We were at the pier. The boyfriend thought I'd choose a sit-down dining option. After 2 hours of whale-watching, I just wanted some grub and a nap. Enter Pipeline. I may opt not to do it again, but their cod was good. The onion rings are better than the fries. Service was notable. Great location--when it's warm enough to sit on the picnic benches.

Pipeline is a great beach food snack shack for all your beachy cravings. Onion rings are light and crispy and the better option than the fries. Service was super friendly and love that they take Apple Pay! So convenient. Would come back again.

This one goes for the great customer service. Mason was very patient and helpful when choosing our dessert. Grab a drink, food, ice cream, etc to start walking on a nice sunset day... if you are coming back, get refreshed with their drinks. Public parking close but hard to find them.

Came here for one of their dipped cones with a topping, which was very reasonably priced around $4 and you get a discount for checking in on Yelp! The ice cream tasted like a standard ice cream bar, but the dip was pretty good, it was a chocolate covering and I decided to get crushed Oreos with it, so it was coated in a nice crunchy bite. Overall a pretty decent place, not too special outside of its convenient location and fair prices.

I love how they dip the bars made to order! Yummy! Can't really go wrong with a "walk up & order" joint!

I think the pipeline is the classic surf Food shack. The food is good and the prices are great. Great memories for the whole family every time we visit. Along with that, the service has always been really good, very generous, well mannered staff that make me want to continue to support! Perfect place for lunch after some time at the beach.

I had no clue what it really was. The names and images were on a big poster marquee and I figured it looked like caramel, fudge and maybe banana... so why not. Right away the texture stood out. Not too soft, not frozen solid, just that perfect scoopable consistency where every bite melts slowly instead of disappearing instantly. It starts creamy and mellow, then suddenly you run into caramel and chunks of chocolate brownie and it turns into a totally different bite. Every spoonful kind of surprises you a little. It ended up being way richer than I expected and honestly one of the best single scoops I've had in a long time. Super friendly lady slso was behind the window too, felt welcoming right away. Definitely coming back because if this was a random pick off the menu, I want to see what the rest taste like.

Timing & Atmosphere: * Avoid Weekends: I would not recommend coming here on a weekend. The store is tiny, and because it's right next to all the bars, the area gets crowded with a lot of drunk people. If that isn't your scene, stick to a weekday visit. * Rewards: It is quite expensive, but it's a nice treat. Plus, you can sign up with your phone number to get discounts for future visits. The Parking Situation: * Virtually Non-Existent: There is no parking lot, so you are stuck looking for small spots along the side of the road. * Accessibility: There is no designated handicap parking, so keep that in mind if you aren't prepared to walk a bit from a side street. We got there around 10pm, and the line wasn't too long. I got their sea salt and double fold vanilla ice cream, which was the perfect combo, and let me tell you why! The sea salt ice cream itself is pretty salty because of the Guatemalan salt they use, but the caramel is strong and has the perfect sweetness, giving it that sweet-and-salty balance. Since I found the ice cream a bit more on the salty side, I wanted something sweeter, which is why the vanilla was the perfect addition. This is hands down one of the best vanilla ice creams I've had because I could really taste the vanilla bean flavor (it's called "double fold" for a reason). I didn't even finish it; I just threw it away because it was that nasty. * Texture & Taste: It tastes like watered-down diet ice cream. The Location Trap: This place is right on 17th Street next to Sidecar Doughnuts and Pop Pie Co., which is a great, convenient location.
