Where it gets disappointing is when I recall for my last 2 visits to Southern California based locations have left me wondering if I'm ever terribly unlucky with their product or their shaved ice is always produced like ice pebbles, and not like the smooth, creamy shaved snow their competition offers. I most recently visited their Irvine location and on this busy evening, I ordered their Strawberry Bingsoo. After about a 15+ min wait, my buzzer rang, and I picked it up at the counter. Fortunately a table had just opened up. Otherwise there are tables outside their shop as well. Once again their Bingsoo was more crunchy than smooth and velvety in my mouth. There were strawberry slices on top with a few mochi pieces, and a little condensed milk drizzle on top. The middle and bottom layers were just crunchy ice. This was also gravely disappointing. This was actually my second visit because I wanted to try more of their specialties. The first time, I had their Chocolate Bingsoo, and it was amazing. I'm honestly not a big fan of bingsoo, but this one changed my mind. The ice was so smooth and creamy, almost like ice cream. It wasn't overly sweet, but it kept you coming back for another bite. This time, I decided to try their Mango Special since it's one of their bestsellers. I love mangoes, but unfortunately this one was a bit too sour for my taste, so I didn't enjoy it as much as the chocolate version. I'd still come back though. Came here on a warm day. Their shaved ice and toppings are nice. The shaved ice consistency is ground fine like fresh snow. It's not the small pebbles of ice like snow cones nor the shaved ice slices of other Asian shaved ice spots (but very similar). Both bingsoos were delicious and refreshing. I'm not new to the Sul and Beans franchise and their menu offerings, as I have visited several other locations in California. However, this was my first visit I've made to their Irvine location. They're situated in a large strip mall full of restaurants and food shops. Parking on a Friday evening was a nightmare and it took over 30 mins to find a spot, and even then we considered ourselves lucky judging my the large number of cars still circling. I was in town recently, and after dinner(elsewhere in Irvine) we decided on Suul and Beans for some Bingoo dessert. We shared 2 Strawberry Bingsoo among the 4 of us. This visit reminded me why I normally don't choose to come here, except for convenience reasons, like on this evening. Their Bingsoo is too icy and is not creamy and pillowy soft like other BIngsoo shops. Their Bingsoo almost tastes like shaved ice with fruit on top. Also, the condensed milk was given to us in a small cup and wasn't mixed in the bottom layers of each bowl. So, it was icy at the bottom, all the way to the top and then some strawberries with a condensed milk drizzle, a few mochi pieces, and then we were given a small cup of the condensed milk to sweeten it up ourselves. I like the abundance of fresh mango but it sucks when you make your way towards the bottom bc it starts to lack flavor. the matcha one was pretty good tho and flavor was pretty complex throughout! service is pretty standard. you only really interact with staff to order. then they give you a pager and you put the trays away yourself when finished! its always busy when i visit. Milk shaved ice with cookie crumbles, whipped cream on top, and a small side of condensed milk. Strong start thanks to the whipped cream, very boring middle, then a slightly soupy finish that improved once the condensed milk got involved. Next time I'd definitely go fruit-based. This is clearly meant for two people, but I powered through solo anyway. Small but annoying detail: the water cups are tiny--shot-glass tiny. Ice cream makes you thirsty. Unless the goal is to push drink sales, that one didn't make much sense. Parking tip: Diamond Jamboree on weekends is a mess. Skip the hunt and use the parking structure--it's way easier. Parking is a nightmare :( But the dessert here is worth it!! So stuck it up friend, you will not regret the 5-6 laps around the parking lot looking for a spot. I've had only their strawberry and their mango bingsoo. Its soo good!!! Its rather large so I recommend sharing. I've had it in the spot. They have circular tables to share with your friends but I have also taken it home to eat and they put it in a little cooler to maintain its consistency. Both are great, however at home you will not get the pretty presentation and if you try to freeze it for later well, the ice will get stuck together and will not longer be that delicious K-shaved ice we all like.
