We came by after our work lunch meeting at Prego. This place has open mic. I also recall coming here for mahjong night and had the best time! Great vibe with delicious desserts and drinks (including boba). The owner is the nicest and their signature ube dessert and drinks is a must. We couldn't leave without trying a bit of everything. Highly recommend!
Heard much about cafe 86 but never got a chance to stop by this Tustin District location until now. Off the bat, the store had a great cafe vibe, chill and mellow. There's a good amount of tables inside, some stool seating near the front to watch people walk by, and a couch where you can relax with some friends. Service was very friendly when I walked in and when I order the classic Halo Halo, I could tell that they took time to make it with lots of care. First impression of the Halo Halo was that it tasted very refreshing. Despite all the ingredients inside, it was not overly sweet. The Ube ice cream had great flavor, the slush base provided that refreshness, and the textual contrast of the cornflakes providing that perfect crunch was actually the star of the dessert for me. Round it out with some flavored jellies at the bottom along with jackfruit and you have yourself a well-rounded dessert. I can see myself coming back here to try their other offerings (including their $3 special on certain teas...)
This place is located in the district. Amazing place. Reminds me of the one I went to in Vegas. The cookie butter coffee but the spit, not to sweet or bland, just right. 5/5. The calamansi juice brought me back to the Philippines. I love it. Sweet, sour, and refreshing. 5/5. The milk tea is basic, nothing special. 3/5. The churro mochi dessert, 5/5.

The ambiance was really nice mixed with music and they have board games to pass time by. The drinks were good, not overly sweet, and the churrochi was tasty with Ube Ice Cream. There's tons of tables, chairs and a couch inside.
I've been to the one in Artesia too. I love ube desserts but sometimes I just don't taste the flavor much so I was recommended the Ube Truffle which was crunchy sweet outside like an Oreo and I could taste the semi- paste like ube on the inside. It was delicious! Pandan Matcha was good but nothing special. I like pandan but it's one of those flavors that is light in flavor.
Coffee after hot pot seemed like a good idea! Headed over to Cafe 86. They have an extensive selection of drinks and ube flavored pastries.
Eh. The customer service was blah and the drinks underwhelming. I wouldn't care to try this place again. Looked promising but disappointed me.
I was so excited when I heard they opened a Tustin store! I used to have to drive to Artesia to get my fix. The place is cozy and I love the decor. The staff is very nice here and they really good at explaining the desserts to my friend who isn't familiar with ube. I got their upside down halo-halo which is my go-to. Upsidedown Halo-halo- This is the best halo-halo I've ever had! The base is made from ube shake which makes it so creamy and flavorful. You get a variety of jellies, cornflakes for crunch, and my favorite flan added in. So much sweetness and flavor in every bite! Great experience and I'm glad I get a place closer to home!
This is my favorite place outside of Hawaii to get yummy Ube (purple potato) treats! My favorite are the Ube Butter Bars, Ube Crinkle Cookies and Ube Brownies. I used to like the brownies better like 6 months ago (or maybe they're just making them differently now) since now they put the word Cashew in the title and they are super full of cashews whereas before it was more a soft brownie but now it's more crunchy and dry. The flavor is still good but it's not as delicious and moist as it used to be. Everything is around $5 (some $4.50, some $5.50) so it's not too expensive since the portion sizes are good and the desserts are rich so you get full quickly. When you order online (via Toast) there is the spot to select Curbside Pickup - HOWEVER I don't believe that truly is an option because I have selected that but when you get to The District, there is nowhere to park curbside and also when I arrived there was only 1 employee in the store so it wasn't feasible for him to leave the store to deliver curbside orders. Honestly, it's not a big deal (I don't mind parking and walking in) but I do wish that they would just delete the 'curbside' option from Toast since that's confusing.
This Cafe 86 is located in the District in Tustin, and is between a ton of food and drink areas. The cafe itself has a good amount of seating inside and the menu is pretty diverse, with a load of different drink options, baked goods, sandwiches, and more! I just came for a quick drink to go, but the staff was pretty nice when I went. I got the pandan matcha, and the matcha was pretty weak, and I felt like I was mostly tasting pandan, which isn't bad at all. It was still a good drink that I got fairly quickly, so I have no gripes with it not being too heavy on the matcha. Definitely would say that this Cafe 86 would be a nice stop here in the District. The concept is nice and seems like it holds fun community events, whether officially or unofficially. The menu is pretty diverse and a nice change of pace as well.

What I ordered ~ Upside down Halo Halo is the best shake drink dessert. Not overly sweet and filled w lots of jello, palm dessert and has Ube ice cream in the dessert. Love this Filipino dessert indeed. It's a must every time i visit Cafe 86. ~ Ube Bread Pudding is yummy, surprisingly light & soft chewy when warmed up/served warm.. The Ube ice cream is like the icing on the cake. ~ Ube crack cheesecake ~ Ube Butter bar ~ Ube Leche flan cupcake ~ Ube truffle ~ Hisbiscus Calamansi is refreshing, not sweet at all & has a slight calamansi flavor. Bakery is clean and nice thru out w board games and comfortable tables and chairs. Nice lighting and simple. Service is great and fast receiving the bakery items and Halo Dessert. Met the owner Derrick & Yumi, married couple. Really nice and informative of the other different desserts I've never had. Located in the Tustin of District. Next to Waygu Factory. This will be my go to for Cafe 86 bakery until the one in my neighboring city Placentia opens up! Pretty estatic for that. Gonna be literally right around the corner! Dangerous!
The Upside Down Halo Halo is my guilty pleasure, it's absolutely delicious and hands down my favorite dessert whenever I'm in SoCal. I'm so excited there's a new location closer to where my family lives! I've been visiting the original Cafe 86 for years, and it never disappoints. This dessert is truly to die for.
Cute concept. Enticing menu. Hopeful my next visit might be better. My daughter and I came to enjoy some nice drinks at Cafe 86 this afternoon at The District Plaza in Tustin. After studying their menu and looking up "popular items" on Yelp, we were excited to try our drinks. It was good! Not the best we've had. Their boba was a bit hard, I let my daughter switch drinks with mine because she did not like it much. Their desserts were pretty much empty, we could not order the dessert of our choice. The place seemed a bit messy, although the place was not extremely packed. I am wondering if we came at a bad time, because the place itself looked so cute! And their drink menu looked appealing, as well as their concept of open mic nights and board games. I would definitely come back, as I believe this place is likely better than today's visit. Still love you, Cafe 86!

Bottom Line Up Front: Cafe 86 is the go-to spot if you love Filipino-inspired desserts and beverages -- and don't mind paying a premium for them. The Food: We got the Ube Cashew Brownie and the Jasmine calamansi iced tea. The former is like a traditional brownie but instead of chocolate it's made of ube (purple yam), which was moist, sweet but not too sweet, and absolutely delicious. All that goodness was balanced by the cashews. The Jasmine Calamansi Iced Tea, which as the name connotes, combines Jasmine tea and Calamansi (an Asian citrus) juice. I'm not big on either but itself, but together this drink made for a refreshing drink. The Service: Everyone who works there is top notch: fast, friendly, and knowledgeable. The Setting: It's located in the Tustin District, which has one of the worst engineered parking lots in Southern California. Firstly, the ingresses and egresses snarl traffic like crazy. Secondly, there are no parking structures, so it's tough to find a good spot up close during peak hours. The Interior: The cafe itself is narrow so there's not a ton of space to hangout I'd you're with a big crowd. It's nicely decorated and relatively clean, though the trash can was hard to find and filled to the brim. Plus, there weren't a ton of napkins. The Price: I would have given this place a perfect 5 out of 5 were it not for the higher-than-normal prices and the horrific parking situation. The Conclusion: Cafe 86 is our go-to spot when we have a sugar craving and don't mind paying a little bit more to get Filipino-inspired dessert. read more

I love halo-halo so I was really excited to try this place out today. I ordered the regular sized upside down halo-halo and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! The ube slush, the crunchy flakes, the square jellies, the boba, vanilla ice cream and the flan were absolutely delicious. I know people mentioned that it had jackfruit but I didn't seem to find any in mine. The service was ok, they weren't the friendliest or the most helpful when asked about the menu but the service was quick. The only main complaint I had, was that it was a little pricey for not filling the cup a bit more and having large ice balls on the bottom of the drink, which I had initially thought were coconut jellies at first but sadly mistaken. I don't mind ice but it's already a slush so if anything crushed ice or little ice nuggets may have been better, otherwise the drink was great! read more

This place is amazing, as soon as you walk in everyone is super friendly! There's plenty of amazing items on their menu, here's what we got! The Ube Crack Cheesecake: This was so good, super creamy, and full of flavor. Ube Crinkle: This was so cakey and delicious, it was fantastic! Turon Poptart: I love Turon, this was probably one of the best ways I had Turon! Strawberry Calamansi: Super refreshing, has that sweet and tart. It was great for a hot day! Ube Matcha Latte: The combo between Ube and Matcha was very much a drink just to relax with. Upside Down Halo Halo: This was a fun twist on one of my favorite desserts. This has a variety of fun textures in every bite. Churrochi: Oh, churro + mochi = amazing. The cinnamon sugar, the chew, and then adding Ube Ice Cream *chef's kiss* Overall this place is a great place to sit down and have a fun cafe date. Or if you just want to vibe on your own! read more
We went to give them a try on Saturday. There is a ton of parking available. The Cafe itself is warm and inviting. The menu is full of way too many amazing sounding choices. When in doubt ask the awesome staff for their recommendations, but it turns out they have a lot of favorites. We got the strawberry calamansi. It is very much a strawberry lemonade so a perfect blend of sweetness and tartness. We also got an Ube matcha latte. Mix it all together and the subtle sweetness makes for a perfect sipping drink. The upside down halo-halo was next. A fun twist on the traditional halo-halo and just as delicious. Do not sleep on their baked goods. They have so many to choose from and we got a great selection of them. First up was the ube Crack cheesecake. Ube works so well with the creaminess of the cheesecake. The ube crinkle is the cookie I could easily eat a dozen of them by myself. Crispy on the outside edges and soft and moist in the middle. The turon pop tart was next. Ask if they can warm it up for you. You won't regret it. The bananas and that light pastry casing is so comforting. Last but not least is the churrocchi. Churro meets mochi in a cinnamon and sugar chewy way. It's perfect and getting a scoop of ube ice cream is the icing on the cake. So many wonderful options and warm, friendly service makes me want to come back again and again. read more

Review: Cafe 86 (Tustin) If you love ube, Cafe 86 in Tustin is a must. I tried the Halo Halo, ube leche cupcake, ube pop tart, and ube matcha latte, each one unique, but the Halo Halo was the clear standout. Creamy ube ice cream, flan, and chewy jellies made for the perfect balance without being overly sweet. The cupcake was rich with a flan topping, the pop tart nostalgic, and the latte smooth and earthy. Overall, a fun spot with lots of drinks to try, but I'd come back for the desserts especially that halo halo! Owner was kind and the ambience great for a little coffee catch up in the area! read more

I was excited to see Cafe 86 at this center as I've enjoyed lattes at other locations. Ordered an iced ube latte with boba and it just wasn't as good. It unfortunately had no ube flavor to it and was a little on the warm side. Boba was overcooked as well. Staff was super friendly and patient, though. Good amount of seats available inside the store. read more

Cafe86 had a food truck at the Angels baseball game for Filipino Heritage Night so that was a good experience. The Halo Halo was so good. Can't wait to get more drinks and goods at this location as well!! read more

This is my second time coming to Cafe 86. Unfortunately my first experience there was better. Although their foods and drinks are delicious (we LOVE the turon pop tart), the service was quite lacking. Not the workers' fault, but they seemed heavily understaffed for a Sunday morning. The cafe seemed to have waves in which one moment they were busy and other moments they had maybe two or three parties inside. Unfortunately, I came during a slower wave and even during that time, we waited 8-10 minutes for help since their self-service order system was having troubles and the server decided to help manually take orders from other patrons, despite us asking for help first. Once the order processed, we waited a rather long amount of time for our order especially since they didn't call out what was ready for pick up. Maybe we just came on an off day, hopefully next time will be better. read more
Love how there's a popular Filipino cafe opens up in Orange County! We got the churrochi, grilled cheese sandwich, pastrami sandwich, peach mango drink 50% sweet, hibisus calamansi drink 50% sweet, ube truffles, turon pop tart, ube lechee flan cake. Our favorite is the ube truffles, so soft and full of ube flavors. The churrochi also a must try, chewy and sweet! Friendly service and clean interior.They also have halo halo! I have been to the Artesia location since 2015 so I was beyond thrilled to come across the new Cafe 86 at The District in Tustin. The quality of their dessert is consistent after all these years: rich, decadent, a real treat! My favorites are the upside down halo halo and the ube leche flan cupcakes. This location is quite small, but you can find additional seatings right outside the store. Enjoy! read more
Cafe 86 has opened a location closer to me in Tustin. YAY! This location is at the District, taking over another former Filipino bakery's spot. I'm not sure if it's a great idea taking over a spot where a similar business didn't find success, but I can say I prefer Cafe 86 by compare. I've been to multiple Cafe 86 locations and have consistently enjoyed their products. I love their halo halo, ube leche flan cupcakes, ube crack cheesecake, ube crinkle, turon pop tart and more. On this visit, I went with my Filipino cousin. He can attest to their quality and authenticity. We stood at the counter for a long time until we realized we had to order ourselves at the kiosk. I hate these kiosks. It's not like reducing labor made their product any cheaper. We ordered 2 Halo Halo ($10.50/each) and 2 Ube Crack Cheesecake ($5.25/each), and a Turon Pop Tart ($5.50). When staff was preparing my order they only took one ONE cheesecake. I went and pulled up my receipt to see if I messed up ordering at the kiosk. No. I ordered correctly. I PAID for 2 cheesecakes. I had to show my receipt so they can get me my second cheesecake that was paid for. They have tables and chairs inside the business but they were not maintained and it was strangely hot inside. Originally we were going to wait briefly to get the dessert, but it was so hot and the chairs were so uncomfortable we went outside to wait. We enjoyed the desserts ath the many outdoor seating spots available at the District. It's so odd to me that a dessert shop would be so hot. I don't want me halo halo to melt. LOVE that halo halo. Despite being full from dinner, my cousin and I both finished our halo halo and kept raving about it the whole time. I can definitely see this on my dessert rotation whenever I need a sweet treat, but I hope management can improve the customer experience. I don't mind paying premium for a pricey product I enjoy, but I mind when something I paid for is missing. Would be more than happy to improve their rating when they get up to par. read more

A strong ube craving has arrived! This is EXACTLY what I needed. I'm so glad there's one close to me in OC so I don't have to drive to Cerritos to get my ube fix. Stepping into Cafe 86 is always a delightful experience enough tables and chairs inside and outside. A soft, melodic playlist drifted in the background, creating a relaxed and cozy environment where conversations easily flowed. The staff are friendly, patient and efficient with your order request. My ol'time fav is the Ube Monster with almond milk and their famous Ube Crinkle. It's been my second trip for the past two weeks and yes I'm driving all the way from RSM to just get my ube cravings...WISH THERE WAS ONE CLOSER...hint hint . read more
After trying the Cafe 86 in Artesia for some Halo Halo I was excited to see this open in the District of Tustin. It's a little store with a little seating area but they have I believe the same menu as the one I've been to prior. I got the halo halo and a mini upside down halo halo. They came out looking great. Flavor and all was a little watered down it seemed like and they didn't blend the ice very well so I was constantly picking out balls of hard ice in my mouth. Some how the flavor was watered down and didn't taste like much and maybe do a good blend so the ice has been completely crushed. Little things like this can make a big difference but I will come back again. read more

So happy that there is a Cafe 86 at the District in Tustin now. That means I don't have to wait to visit my client in Chino Hills to experience this deliciousness, lol. Introduced my Canadian bestie to ube a while back and she was looking forward to coming here after our Sunday morning walk. She ordered and devoured the Bread Pudding (Halo Halo), Ube Truffle (Ube rolled like a cake pop and coated with Oreo crumbles), and Ube Pop Tart. I went with my usual - Ube Butter Bar, Ube Truffle and Ube Cupcake w Flan. You can't go wrong with any of their treats. There's more I'd like to try for next time. We ordered three upside down halo halo. Basically an ube shake with nata de coco, boba, coconut, jackfruit, and topped with vanilla or ube ice cream, Frosted Flakes, and la good chunk of leche flan. It was good but it felt like it needed more beans and more filling. read more
Finally ! I got a chance to try this place out ! I have been seeing this place all over Instagram and I was so happy they opened a spot closer to me! I came in because I know they're popular with their ube flan and I was dying to try it but unfortunately they did not have any in stock so I was a bit bummed out about it . But it is ok I will come back to hopefully get a chance to try it . This place is really nice and perfect for hangouts or if you are craving some Filipino sweets this is the place to go . They have teas and boba drinks to pair well with the desserts they offer. I love how quick and simple the service is . You just order from the kiosk and with in 10mins after your items are done . Very convenient. I'd definitely will be coming back to try the rest of their menu ! It was a perfect experience and totally worth the hype . I got their Ube milk tea, and oh my it's so good! I'm not exaggerating when I say it's one of the best milk teas I've tried. Cute study spot and their music playlist was great! Definitely recommend. Update: I got their Halo Halo drink and it's like a sugar heaven. Very sweet but if that's what you're into, get it. It comes with flan, corn flakes, boba, ice cream scoop, etc. :) read more
