Found this place through my daughter, and recommend everyone to try them out. I am not much of a cream puff person or cream stuff donut type of person. Pretty much the idea of anything stuff with something not my thing, but these puffs are amazing they have the perfect amount of stuffing in every bite and ingredients are good and taste fresh. What is great about these besides how good and soft the bread is that they have a variety of flavors to choose from as well. Staff was great and patient during my decision process on what flavors I wanted to get and answered all my questions.

Beard Papa's, is a very cute establishment in the plaza where Mitsuwa Irvine is located. Walking through the doors, the kids and I were in awe and immediately gravitated to the right where they had a wall theme of cats. Of course we took photos and talked about how the place had a fun and inviting atmosphere. Beard Papa's space is quite large with plenty of tables and seats with additional places to sit outside. The deco definitely gives you the happy feels. It's a cute place to grab dessert and chill with friends. Towards the back is where you will find the display cases for different desserts, as well as the cashier and some Asian toys or items for purchase. What we ordered; 1) Croissant Taiyaki with Nutella - I actually liked the texture of the croissant Taiyaki. It was buttery just like a croissant. It was different from other Taiyaki I've had but I enjoyed it. 2) Mochi ice creams - we had strawberry, which my kids didn't really like. They thought it tasted a bit like medicine. Mango, they favored this one much better. Matcha - it was ok for me. I felt like this didn't taste like true matcha. Overall, based on our experience, the deco, taiyaki and mochi, it was a 3 out of 5 stars for us. I would definitely return, but I probably would not do the mochi again. I may try those puffs or a drink instead. Ending our night out here was a fun and new experience.

honey butter with vanilla filling was delicious! it was $5 which isn't too bad. it's flavorful and there's lots of filling which could get messy. the other flavors, strawberry, matcha c cookies and cream are also good. service is quick. it's a spacious place with cute decor. overall, it's a great dessert spot to try if you're nearby!

Cream puffs are always super delicious + location has a selection of Sonny Angels and smiskis merch.

I tried green tea, strawberry coconut, black sesame, salted caramel, and mango mochi as well as the lava green tea cake! My favorite was the cake & black sesame mochi. Yum! They were so busy on this rainy day. It was so cozy to be around so many people every seat was nearly filled. Even groups of friends got together today to get out of the rain and enjoy their treats. What a treat!

This place has been around for so long and it's obvious why, everything is delicious! The workers offered us samples of the gelato and were very friendly. We ultimately shared a chocolate cream puff and it was so good I wish I got my own lol

Thank you so much for the delicious sweets you all make and serve. A friend and I grabbed a small strawberry bingsoo and it was delicious. The strawberries weren't too syrupy! I found myself regretting not getting a larger size but I think it was God's blessings that I didn't hahaha I can become so greedy. The plating of the bingsoo surprised me - in a gold bowl! The service was kind and speedy. There is a good amount of seating that is great for friends to catch up. I love the lighting here.

First time trying Beard Papa's. Cute spot to hang out and enjoy a little dessert. I tried the s'mores and strawberry puffs, both were tasty without being overly sweet, which I liked. Customer service was okay, nothing bad but nothing that stood out either. The place could've been a bit cleaner, some tables were still dirty, but it was the end of the night, so I get it. Overall, good little spot for a quick snack. I'd come back to try other flavors.

There's plenty of space inside and they have Sonny Angels, Smiskis, and more figurines for customers to purchase! I think they're more known for their other items but I got the Strawberry Milk Snow in a cup. It was refreshing, I just wished it came with some condensed milk to pour onto! Overall, it satisfied my cravings and it was a good size for one person to eat.

After indulging in ice cream and gelato too often, we decided to switch it up with some cream puffs and went to Beard Papa's Saturday night. I've tried Beard Papa's first in Asia and have been to the Sawtelle location, but haven't tried it at this more conveniently located Irvine spot. It's inside the Mochi Desert spot at Heritage Plaza, which also serves gelato, bingsoo, coffee, macarons, Taiyaki, lava cakes and other desserts (they also sell Sonny Angel and Smitskis, interestingly enough). So if you're just here for the cream puffs, you will have to order in the same line as everyone else that's buying ice cream or toys. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating as well. Each cream puff is about $4-5, depending on the shell and filling flavor you choose. We ordered three different cream puffs: one with a green tea shell and matcha filling, another with a chocolate shell and chocolate filling, and a classic plain cream puff with vanilla filling. They fill your cream puffs to order which is probably why the choux pastry remains so crispy and airy. I was impressed by how light and airy the fillings were--perfectly balanced and not overly rich, so you can easily finish the whole puff. The shells were sweeter than the fillings, and I really enjoyed the dark chocolate shell with its lighter, mousse-like filling. The green tea flavor was strong, not artificial at all, and so yummy. The filling itself was incredibly addictive--smooth, custardy, and creamy. Though I'm not usually a fan of choux pastry, Beard Papa's version was perfectly airy and crispy, with great structural integrity. The fillings didn't melt through the shell, which made it cleaner to eat. Boyfriend's first time trying Beard Papa's, and he loved it so much he ate the last cream puff without me!! FYI They offer BUY 6 GET 1 FREE deal, that's perfect if you want to buy more!

Picked up a 4 pack of eclairs to go. I love that you can pick your flavor of cream for the inside and the flavor of chocolate dip for the outside. There are lots of combos you can make and you'll find something you or someone else will like. The cream puff is soft and fresh when you order. The size is pretty big so you could easily eat one on your own or share it. I liked their matcha cream the best!

Ask the Community - Beard Papa's

Are the ZZZ combos still available? Also, if any items are out of stock, are there are any restock plans? I don't want to drive all the way to the place and find out its all gone.

HI! see our ZZZ landing page to find out what stores have promo items. Please see our store in Korea Town in DTLA for all items. Call ahead to confirm.

Are cash paying customers welcome? I don't usually encourage my children to have credit/debit, Apple Pay.... any cards in general.

How long are the cream puffs fresh for? Would they still be good if I picked them up a day before let's say a birthday party?

I've purchased them and had some left over, they do get to tend to get hard after the second or third day.

Does Beard Papa's at this location accept Apple pay or Google pay(Android pay)?

Yes, we do accept Apple and Google pay.

This location is much closer to home, so I visited one afternoon when craving their cookies. The interior is modern, classy-bougie, with 4 tables and a large cushy chair. I ordered two cookies, the chocolate chip walnut and peanut butter chocolate, along with an iced horchata latte. I sat at one of the tables, opened the box my cookies were presented in, and found myself in cookie ecstasy. The cookies are fat mountains of deliciousness. Slightly crisp outside and soft inside (note: even softer if taken home and warmed up). The chocolate chip was crammed full of chips and the walnuts were in tiny bits to keep the cookie's texture soft. The chocolate cookie was also enormous and had an abundance of peanut butter chips. Both were superb. The horchata latte had just enough ice to keep it cold. It had a bold flavor of cinnamon which I loved. Staff here were friendly, efficient, and speedy. There's no indicator for the parking garage so on a particularly busy day, you can head all the way to the top, find nothing and navigate through the hell crowds trying to leave. Ambiance is a very casual, counter order business in the food court. There's seating there, but we ate really close by. Definitely something you have to eat immediately or the texture will not be optimal or it might get soggy. We got the tiramisu croffle and they toasted it and put it together for us there. The lady working there packed it up nicely in a to go box and we got some cookies (regular ones and almond crisp ones). It's a bit sweet, but they're dessert pastries so that makes sense. Goes great with a brewed cup of tea. Croffle had a nice semi-chewy texture and the tiramisu flavor added a bit of a coffee taste to it. Good balance of the cream and croffle. Service - after we ordered at the counter our food was delivered to the table which are all located outside on a well-shaded patio. We always split our dishes - my wife and I can't eat an entire plate of food. It's not "table service" - they don't come back and check you or help with water or drinks, etc. Whatever you want you must return to the counter. But service at the counter is very friendly and helpful. The ambiance is an outdoor cafe....noisy neighbors, wind when it blows, dogs, all the regular stuff - good seating and umbrellas with some areas naturally shaded...lots of tables relative to the size of the shop.
