I've heard rave reviews from my friends regarding this amazing gelato shop. We actually made it a point to stop here before we headed back to SD. To be honest, I thought, what's the big deal? First of all, I love the concept of flavored lined cups either with or without nuts. There are two flavor coatings to choose from, which are Nutella or Pistachio. Both my favorite flavors. After much deliberation, I chose pistachio with nuts to line the cup. As far as gelato flavors, I got Pistachio and Nutella (of course lol). Super creamy and full of flavor, it's no wonder that my friends rave about this place! There was a line so, unfortunately, I didn't really get to try barely anything since I didn't want to hold up the line. I did like that there were some outside seating and the decor is very classy and modern. Employees were friendly and helpful. I just saw they have a location in SD! I'll check that out soon and try some different flavors. With the weather hot, it's the perfect time to try some amazing gelato!

One of the best gelato around. The interior is very cute. There's not a lot of inside seating, but you can find a spot to eat outside. Service is good.

It's a great spot for gelato. We tried the pistachio, mint, and 3 chocolate flavors. The texture was very creamy, though a bit too sweet for my taste. Still, it was a nice treat overall. I'd definitely come back to try some of the other flavors.

Was so excited to hear that Bacio di Latte opened up closer to me at the Spectrum! Loved the one at Fashion Island, and they pretty much have the same rich, creamy gelato! I will say the Spectrum one feels like you get less gelato for the price and the line was much longer, but can't complain much- the gelato is simply amazing. I'm a mint chip loyalist so I always have to get it, also got the stracciatella and tiramisu though. Recommend all of them!

I've been to the Newport location before so I had to come to this one too. This spot has both indoor and outside seating. There was no line to order and they let you try different flavors. I got the yogurt and strawberry sorbet and it was a good combo. Another favorite is the cookies n cream. They have so many flavors to choose from. I love how they have seasonal flavors and change it up. Overall, the best gelato spot in OC so far. I would come back again.

First time coming to this Gelato spot. Truly delicious and nice decor. Located at the Irvine Spectrum outdoor mall. Had a long line but it went pretty quickly. Staff is friendly and they will let you sample as much as you'd like. It was love at first bite! So creamy and delicious. You can base your cup or cone with Nutella or Pistachio. Ended up getting a cup with a Nutella base with strawberry cheesecake and the hazelnut chocolate. Such an explosion in your mouth. Definitely a must try!

Amici (serving 3 to 4 people)

The gelato and pastries here are amazing, rich, and delicious. Everything on the menu is mouth watering. I got it for delivery, and yet the gelato was still cold and not melting. I'll definitely try and go to the location. Now let's talk about the yummy treats. Cinnadoodle: The Cinnadoodle was chewy and soft. It had a cinnamon sugar topping and a hint of nutmeg. If you take it home, I recommend popping it in the microwave for about 10 seconds so it tastes warm and extra soft. Oatmeal Lace with Maple Buttercream: This was my absolute favorite thing. I love me a crispy texture cookie. So this is why it's my favorite. The buttercream filling was delicious, not too sweet. It was balanced. So it isn't overpowering. Pecan Pie Bar: It is a rich, buttery crust topped with a layer of sweet, gooey caramelized pecans. This was also delicious. The texture of the brown sugar and caramelized pecans is a great combination. I did feel it had no balance. It was too sweet, but hey, it was delicious. Lasty, I had the Amici. The amici servers 3 to 4 people. I got fragola super latte - strawberry and sweet cream, tiramisu-double mascarpone and cherry yogurt. All these gelatos were amazingly good. My favorite though was the strawberry and sweet cream tiramisu. They have a lot of vegan options of gelatos. I would definitely try it again and recommend it.

This was our first time here. There was a line but it went by quickly. My son is allergic to dairy and they had vegan options. They provide samples so that was helpful in deciding what flavors we liked. Although pricey the portion size is decent considering how creamy and sweet it is. I went with strawberry cheesecake and pretzel flavor. This was definitely a treat.

If you like gelato and ice cream, stop by and visit Bacio Di Latte while you're at the Irvine Spectrum for a sweet treat. They also have several types of cookies. It's a cute store with great gelato and so many delicious flavors. They keep the store very clean. Service is good and employees are patient and respectful. Love the pistachio and vanilla caramel flavors.

This is the closest to real Italian gelato that I've experienced. It's creamy, airy, full of flavor. Nothing appeared to be fake ingredients and it all looked like real food. The shop is pretty busy but stays clean. Staff is friendly and kept the line moving. Price and size is pretty fair the quality and location. I'd recommend trying at least a couple flavors your first time to see what it's all about.

excellent ice cream and vibes. A little Pricey, but it's what stellar ice cream go for these days at the shop. The flavors were rich and perfectly sweet. Great stop by for any occasion while you're at the mall. We ate ramen close by we're glad there wasn't a line here to try out their ice cream.

Such a great gelato spot! The worker was incredibly nice and patient, even though there were seven of us all trying different flavors and being a little chaotic. The service was handled so gracefully, which made the experience even better. I loved the pistachio gelato -- super creamy, nutty, and not overly sweet. Definitely a place worth stopping by, especially with friendly service like this.

Excellent gelato! This location is at the Irvine Spectrum next to the movie theater. They had a couple dozen flavors. It was a tough choice but I picked two scoops in a cup - salted caramel and vanilla & caramel. As the only customer in the shop, the woman working had her back to me as I entered and seemed a tiny bit annoyed once she realized I was there. She then quietly and quickly scooped my two scoops into a tiny cup. They have some tables indoors and very nice patio seating in front of the store. I sat outside and really enjoyed the gelato; it was so creamy and incredibly delicious. The salted caramel had just the right amount of saltiness and the vanilla & caramel had a silky swirl of vanilla. Even though the quality of the gelato is exceptional, the price is quite high for the amount you get, but they gotta pay that excessive Irvine Company rent.

The flavors have been consistent with their other locations - unique, flavorful and creamy. I really love that their flavors are from around the world, which makes them different from other ice cream shops that I'm aware of. I also LOVE their ube waffle cones! The only thing that I'm actually devastated and disappointed about is that they use to offer split scoops, which was 2 half scoops of different flavors. This was my GO TO order because I can enjoy 2 of my favorite flavors without being overwhelmed with the amount. This also made them different from other ice cream shops. Now they only offer single, double, and sampling trio. How can I finish 2 FULL scoops on my own? Unfortunately this is why I can't give full 5 stars.

However, I was still more than happy to check them out when my gf suggested coming here. All of their hype and praise was certainly a big reason why, as well as me wanting to see what Persian ice cream tastes like, but, quite simply, how could I ever say "no" to trying a new ice cream shop? Especially to cap off such a warm evening out! While I can't say how this location compares to their spot in LA, I liked how low-key and unassuming this place felt. Past the counter/register, there's a small amount of seating to the back, but there's also a bunch of seats and tables right out in front. More importantly, though, their display case of ice cream is chock full of enticing options. Inspired by ingredients and flavors from around the world, Saffron Rose's roster of flavors is quite diverse. What's more, from their Mango and French Espresso to their Saffron & Pistachio and Passionfruit, they all looked equal parts unique and delicious! -- FRENCH ESPRESSO While it may not have been quite as amazing as I had hoped, this was still pretty good. Although I wish the taste of the espresso had been more robust, it still had a decent coffee flavor to it that I really liked. -- PASSIONFRUIT I got this mostly because I wanted something a bit tart and citric to balance the French Espresso and it did the trick. The passionfruit was refreshing and I liked that the taste of it wasn't overly acidic. -- SAFFRON WITH PISTACHIO Presumably their namesake flavor? Either way, this may not have been my favorite flavor, but it wasn't bad. The taste of saffron was decently strong and I liked how the pistachios in this added some texture. -- MANGO Of all of the flavors I've tried, this is easily my favorite. Not only did it feel rather refreshing (especially on such a warm night), but it also had a surprisingly strong taste of mango to it. -- POMEGRANATE Unfortunately, this was pretty disappointing. Much like when I got the passionfruit flavor, I wanted something fruity and light to offset the pistachio, but this was a little bit sharp and acidic for my liking. -- GREEN PISTACHIO I love pistachios, so I had some high hopes for this one, but it missed the mark for me. For whatever reason, the taste of pistachios didn't come across as well as it did with the other flavors and the chunks of pistachios felt surprisingly soft. -- PINK ROSE My least favorite of the bunch, but, to be fair, I'm also just not a fan of floral flavors and the rose water showed up most prominently in this one. Even though the first couple of bites were okay, the taste of the rose was too much for me after that. Regardless of the flavor, one thing I noticed about Saffron Rose's ice cream is that they're somewhat similar to gelato, but with a slightly gummier texture to them. What's more, all of the ice cream is made with rose water, which, as mentioned, I'm not a huge fan of, though it was pretty subtle in all of them except the Pink Rose. Also, I didn't care for the wafers they give you either. While I appreciate that they can complement the ice cream well (they resembled those classic cake ice cream cones), the wafers had more of a soft, semi-stale texture rather than a crisp one (unless that's they way they're supposed to be). All and all, considering how they're one of the only Persian ice cream joints around, Saffron Rose is by no means bad in any way. At the very least, their ice cream is certainly unique and even better than some of the gelatos I've had. However, as someone who prefers a more classic, creamy scoop of ice cream, I think Saffron Rose is just okay. My gf, on the other hand, is definitely a fan, so I'm sure more scoops of their Mango and French Espresso will be in my future the next time we visit when we're back in town again! THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded down.

I've been here twice now and tried about five different flavors total, and every single one was gross. The Experience: * Bad Flavors: On my last visit, I actually had to ask the worker to swap my flavor because I was convinced I just got a "bad" one. The second flavor was somehow even worse. I didn't even finish it; I just threw it away because it was that nasty. * Texture & Taste: It tastes like watered-down diet ice cream. It lacks any of the richness or flavor you'd expect from a specialized shop, especially for how expensive it is. I wouldn't even go back if the ice cream were free. The Location Trap: This place is right on 17th Street next to Sidecar Doughnuts and Pop Pie Co., which is a great, convenient location. I think people only go here because it's a "cool-looking" spot to stop at while driving to the beach or grabbing a donut next door. If it weren't for the location, I don't see how they would stay in business. Final Verdict: Don't be fooled by the convenient location or the surrounding shops. The ice cream is truly disappointing and definitely not worth the price. I won't be coming back ever.
