    Strawberry sorbet and lemon sorbet
    Noah V.

After grabbing burgers at In-N-Out Burger, the girls wanted something sweet, so we headed to Gelatissimo located in University Center right by University of California, Irvine. The inside decorations are so cool, bright, modern, and fun, and it immediately feels like the perfect post dinner treat spot. I got the strawberry sorbet and lemon sorbet, and both were unbelievably good, super fresh and packed with real fruit flavor. What impressed me most was the service. There was only one worker handling about 15 people in line, but he stayed calm and patient the entire time. He even asked my girls if he could learn some sign language, which meant a lot to us and made the experience even sweeter. Great flavors, cool atmosphere, and genuine service, definitely a spot we'd come back to.

Gelatissimo is a gelato shop that opened up at the University Town Center. They let you sample as many flavors as you want and they have a large selection to choose from. They limit the number of flavors you can get for your purchase. 1 scoop - 1 flavor ($6.75) / 2 scoops - 2 flavors ($7.95) and 3 scoops - 3 flavors ($9.95). ($7.95. - 2 scoops) - I settled on pistachio and espresso. Sadly both flavors were disappointing. None of the gelatos are tried here were rich and creamy like some of the better gelato shops in the area or in Italy. The pistachio flavor had a weird taste to it as well. The espresso was extremely weak. Overall I wasn't impressed with the quality of gelato here. They limit 1 flavor per scoop here. The waffle cookie served with the gelato was soft and seemed stale.

I didn't really care for the taste or the price of the gelato here, but I appreciated the friendly and patient nature of the server. There was no line at the store when I arrived. The server was willing to let me try different ice cream flavors to help me choose. I settled with the pandan coconut flavor. The ice cream itself was rather salty, grassy, and sweet tasting. Not something I was expecting. The smallest one scoop cup is about $8. But at least there is no line, the store is clean, and the service is friendly. There are also seatings and tables right outside the store as well. Parking is free, and Amex is accepted. I wouldn't mind returning if I am back in the area for whatever reasons.

My wife and I stopped here for gelato after dinner and had a little trouble deciding when all the choices looked so great. We opted for the chocolate mint and the boysenberry swirl. The gelato tasted as good as it looked: creamy, indulgent, rich flavors. Just what great gelato should be. The woman behind the counter who served us was friendly and helpful and put two big scoops into what is a small-looking cup. The ambiance is a pleasant, well-lit, colorful ice cream shop. It was a really nice dessert stop.

Wonderful flavor selection. The gelato is superb and you get a bonus cookie. Tops in the OC.

I love gelato and was excited to try Gelatissimo. Gelato is always going to be more expensive than ice cream, so I was not surprised by the pricing of $6.75 for a single scoop. The shop is very cute and the flavors looked appealing. Customer service was great and I was offered to try as many flavors as I wanted. I didn't want to be obnoxious, so I tried one flavor, pistachio, and was underwhelmed. However, I didn't let that deter me and ordered a double scoop ($7.95) of flavors that I considered sure things. The wafer cookie on top was a nice touch. The hazelnut was decent, although somewhat lacking compared to the one at Bacio di Latte. The Wicked Double Chocolate Brownie was not good. I don't know if I got an off batch but it lacked a chocolaty flavor and the brownie pieces were hard and did not taste like a brownie. Neither my daughter nor I wanted to eat it and I wound up throwing the rest in the trash. If you go here, DEFINITELY sample the flavors first before ordering. Me, I'm going to stick to Bacio di Latte or Gelato Paradiso for my gelato fix.

What a great addition to UTC! Friendly service and they've got a bunch of unique flavors of gelato, and mark special flavors on their display as well. They also sell some drinks and other things too - nice variety. My son chose a duo of Pistachio and Cotton Candy, which I found questionable at first. But they were very good! I liked the pistachio more, he preferred the cotton candy, which made sharing a breeze. The texture was silky smooth, and the wafer on top was great to scoop and add a bit of crunchy texture to the gelato. It does melt a little quickly, so be sure to eat anything that's hanging over the cup/cone first!

New ice cream shop at University Town Center !!!! The service was super helpful as they let you try as many flavors as you want which I definitely recommend because the flavors are somewhat of a hit or miss. - caramel macadamia and cookie crumble: 8.6/10. These flavors are so yummy and pair so well together !!!! - ube and ferrero rocher: 4/10. The ube flavor was lacking and had a weird taste. Same with the ferrero rocher. There was a strange after taste. - pistachio: 5.5/10. Usually gelato places do pistachio rlly well, and this place advertise pistachio to be their best flavor, but this one lacked the deep richness and creaminess pistachio gelato normally has. This shop has so many flavors to choose from, so definitely try before committing to a flavor because some are definitely better than others.

Cookies and cream and salted macadamia dulce de leche

This is a cozy new place. The staff is very friendly and takes time to explain the flavors and make recommendations. I got small cup of salted macadamia dulce de leche and cookies and cream. Each order is punctuated with a cute waffle cookie. Salted Macadamia Dulce de Leche- The dulce de leche base is rich and creamy, the core flavor really pushes through. The macadamia adds a nice layer of texture and complements the caramely flavor pretty well. Cookies and Cream- The cookie is definitely dominant in this one. You get that oreo-y goodness with enough pieces to give that crunchy layer we have come to love from this classic flavor. Great place for gelato!

We came on a Saturday around 8PM and there weren't too many customers at the time, but I will say it is a small, but cute shop. They had over a dozen flavors but once people came, it did feel a bit difficult to order or try more flavors. We decided to get strawberry sorbet and the ube gelato. I loved the ube flavor at first but it did get tiring after a while because of its richness. The strawberry sorbet however felt refreshing and was really tasty! The portions are very small and especially high for its price, but it does seem an adequate amount for the sweetness level. I did enjoy the Belgian waffle cookie !

After trying the Newport location we came here, the quality was great and consistent. The employee told us that many of their sorbets and the vanilla bean icecream is dog-friendly and our four legged puppy loved it. I particularly love the ube, hazelnut, and strawberry cheesecake flavor. They have a less sweet dark chocolate which is a great healthier option.

    Straciatella

Service was great tonight. We enjoyed our gelatos. The stratcialtella was good and the mint was super minty. We want to try all the flavors!

So excited to finally have an gelato place in the UTC complex! We have been following their instagram and checking the storefront often up until their opening last week, and have already been back twice to keep trying their new flavors. The flavor variety is by far their strongest attribute- you can find whatever type of sweet palate you are craving, and they are amazing with letting you sample whatever you need. I love their decorations and theme - it gives such a modern, fun, bright character, and they live up to that with how sweet their workers have all been. We haven't yet had a long wait, and they do seem to get through customers relatively fast, though that might change as we get closer to the summer months. I love how all their flavors clearly have such fresh ingredients- their nutty flavors have actual nuts which makes for not only authentic flavor, and a really nice texture- and all the little flavor mix-ins make them really special. There is a good variety in which flavors are sweeter or a bit more subtle, and though they cycle through many of their flavors, they also always seem to have the most important gelato basics - like Stracciatella, pistachio, and the fruit-based ones. But they definitely go well beyond basic, which can be fun if you are feeling like something richer, or more complex. I really cannot wait to keep trying as they offer more flavors, and can guarantee I will be back!!

I was slightly surprised that the price is close to $7 for a single scoop of ice cream on a cone, I guess I'm used to those days when ice cream used to be a dollar, but what I did appreciate was that they offered to put it in a cup for us because the portion they give is so generous that it doesn't fit on a cone. I actually wanted something a little healthier when I went so I chose the no sugar added pistachio, which was so good so creamy so delicious and full of pistachio nuts. I'm aware that there are other options nearby such as Dairy Queen at less than half the price of this, but if I had to choose again, I might still come back to Handel's because the single scoop could almost be enough for two people. We went with a few other families and none of the kids could actually finish their ice cream cone, which is actually good because that means you can share. The shop is especially good if you're planning to watch a movie at the Regal Cinema just next door.

I got the s'mores one and it was super delicious, with a graham cracker base, chocolate chips and gooey marshmallows. It was also super creamy and flavorful! The blueberry cobbler one is rich with that blueberry flavor, kind of like a blueberry pie. And the strawberry sorbet was not too sweet and refreshing and it's dairy-free. If you're looking for a sweet treat and don't mind having more than one scoop, go to Handel's!

However, I was still more than happy to check them out when my gf suggested coming here. All of their hype and praise was certainly a big reason why, as well as me wanting to see what Persian ice cream tastes like, but, quite simply, how could I ever say "no" to trying a new ice cream shop? Especially to cap off such a warm evening out! While I can't say how this location compares to their spot in LA, I liked how low-key and unassuming this place felt. Past the counter/register, there's a small amount of seating to the back, but there's also a bunch of seats and tables right out in front. More importantly, though, their display case of ice cream is chock full of enticing options. Inspired by ingredients and flavors from around the world, Saffron Rose's roster of flavors is quite diverse. What's more, from their Mango and French Espresso to their Saffron & Pistachio and Passionfruit, they all looked equal parts unique and delicious! -- FRENCH ESPRESSO While it may not have been quite as amazing as I had hoped, this was still pretty good. Although I wish the taste of the espresso had been more robust, it still had a decent coffee flavor to it that I really liked. -- PASSIONFRUIT I got this mostly because I wanted something a bit tart and citric to balance the French Espresso and it did the trick. The passionfruit was refreshing and I liked that the taste of it wasn't overly acidic. -- SAFFRON WITH PISTACHIO Presumably their namesake flavor? Either way, this may not have been my favorite flavor, but it wasn't bad. The taste of saffron was decently strong and I liked how the pistachios in this added some texture. -- MANGO Of all of the flavors I've tried, this is easily my favorite. Not only did it feel rather refreshing (especially on such a warm night), but it also had a surprisingly strong taste of mango to it. -- POMEGRANATE Unfortunately, this was pretty disappointing. Much like when I got the passionfruit flavor, I wanted something fruity and light to offset the pistachio, but this was a little bit sharp and acidic for my liking. -- GREEN PISTACHIO I love pistachios, so I had some high hopes for this one, but it missed the mark for me. For whatever reason, the taste of pistachios didn't come across as well as it did with the other flavors and the chunks of pistachios felt surprisingly soft. -- PINK ROSE My least favorite of the bunch, but, to be fair, I'm also just not a fan of floral flavors and the rose water showed up most prominently in this one. Even though the first couple of bites were okay, the taste of the rose was too much for me after that. Regardless of the flavor, one thing I noticed about Saffron Rose's ice cream is that they're somewhat similar to gelato, but with a slightly gummier texture to them. What's more, all of the ice cream is made with rose water, which, as mentioned, I'm not a huge fan of, though it was pretty subtle in all of them except the Pink Rose. Also, I didn't care for the wafers they give you either. While I appreciate that they can complement the ice cream well (they resembled those classic cake ice cream cones), the wafers had more of a soft, semi-stale texture rather than a crisp one (unless that's they way they're supposed to be). All and all, considering how they're one of the only Persian ice cream joints around, Saffron Rose is by no means bad in any way. At the very least, their ice cream is certainly unique and even better than some of the gelatos I've had. However, as someone who prefers a more classic, creamy scoop of ice cream, I think Saffron Rose is just okay. My gf, on the other hand, is definitely a fan, so I'm sure more scoops of their Mango and French Espresso will be in my future the next time we visit when we're back in town again! THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded down.

I didn't even finish it; I just threw it away because it was that nasty. * Texture & Taste: It tastes like watered-down diet ice cream. We ordered three things; mint chocolate chip, rose, and milk and cereal. All with a bubble waffle cone. The service was disappointing, the guy who worked there seemed like he didn't care and it was just another job. No life to him and was just rude about asking the code for the bathroom. The mint and chip is basic. Nothing too much about it. My kids like it, so I got it. Average 3/5. The rose ice cream tasted like a rose, it was pretty good and very floral. The disappointing part is I was hoping the ice cream would be shaped like a rose as depicted on the picture. Nope, just a scoop and left it as is. 5/5 for taste and 0/5 for presentation. The milk and cereal one was actually pretty good. Especially with Frosted Flakes in it. It literally taste like cereal. 5/5. I would give it a higher star if the service complimented it and th presentation of the rose ice cream did.

The blueberry lavender cold foam was super unique it was lightly floral but not overpowering, and it paired really well with the drink underneath. The strawberry cold foam felt fresh and slightly sweet, giving that classic fruity vibe without being too heavy. My personal favorite was the salted caramel cold foam!! it had that perfect balance of sweet and salty and made the drink feel extra indulgent. The café itself has a clean, modern vibe and is a great place to hang out or grab something to-go. Staff was friendly and the drinks came out looking just as good as they tasted Definitely worth checking out if you're in Irvine and want something a little different from your usual coffee run!

When mixed with the vanilla cold foam, it tastes a bit like a light coffee with cream with that light earthy flavor coming through. The cold foam really makes this drink taste unique! I ordered through self-kiosk and I got hojicha with normal sweetness and light ice. I mixed everything before drinking and it was just the perfect amount of sweetness. Some people may like it a bit sweeter, but personally, this was perfect. This was really good! I would reorder in a heartbeat! Strawberry Matcha Coldbrew Ordered via self-kiosk. It was a bit tricky as it had too many options you had to either opt out of or add. They will not let you check out until you press the right buttons. Got it with light ice, no milk, normal sweetness. I sipped it without mixing and immediately tasted the strawberry puree which was a tad too sweet, but when mixed with the matcha, it all balanced out and tasted great together, like a good refreshing drink on a hot day. The strawberry puree tasted great too with real strawberry flavor. Both drinks were great and I would reorder both again! Customer Service It was minimal, since I did order via self-order kiosk, but the person at the front did offer to take my order when she saw me walk in. But was not ready and decided to order via self-order kiosk. Ambiance / Seats It was clean, airy space and lots of tables and seats! Good place to hang out! Bathroom was clean too. Parking It is located in a large strip mall and this was a good sized parking lot. Went during the early afternoon on a Thursday, so plenty of parking directly across Junbi. Gotta love Irvine for free parking and plenty of parking spots too!
