A tiny cup of froyo for $5.49, and flies buzzing around the toppings behind the counter? No thank you. Walk a little ways down toward Handel's and get the good stuff.

Any visit to Golden Spoon harkens back memories of my teenage years when I used to enjoy fro-yo as a teenager. It's hard to believe this establishment has been handcrafting deliciously creamy frozen yogurt using all-natural ingredients since 1983! Kudos to Golden Spoon for withstanding the test of time. The Irvine location of Golden Spoon occupies the corner unit in the food court at Oak Tree Shopping Center. Parking in this center can be challenging during peak hours. A young teenaged girl worked the front counter when I visited with my daughter on her birthday. We ordered two 8 oz regular cups, but I think this size may be too big for one person...I'd recommend the 4 oz mini cup instead. Due to the special occasion, my daughter got to add toppings and she chose sprinkles and gummy worms (IMO gummies aren't the best toppings for ice cream or froyo because they harden and are more difficult to chew). Golden Spoon's menu is ever-changing, so I'll be curious to see if the Georgia Peach flavor is still on the menu when we visit next time!

Golden Spoon chain is one of the OV yogurt spots. Service is quick and their yogurt is creamy and always tastes fresh. They also have plenty of toppings to choose from. Inside this location there isn't a lot of seating. Just a couple of tables. But there is plenty of seating outside in their courtyard.

I was really wanting some chocolate soft serve only to discover their chocolate flavored one was down suddenly. I settled with their strawberry flavored frozen yoghurt with cheese cake topping. What a disappointment. It tasted like one of those artificial strawberry fluoride mouthwash you get at the dentist office. It's too bad because it looked delicious and smelled like it would taste good, too. I am not sure why the texture was also off, also. It had a gritty crystalline mouthfeel to it. The aftertaste was awful. Somehow very bitter and just ick. Giving it a 3-stars due to the otherwise friendly service I received and ample free parking. I most likely won't return in the future.

You walk in and are transported back to the good ol' days. With red tiles, golden spoons and the sweet smell of frozen yogurt. Our service was quick and our cups were full! I'm a sucker for their peanut butter yogurt and mini Reese's pieces!

Outstanding service on a busy sunny weekend day. It was bustling but service was efficient and accurate. Their frozen yogurt is delicious. Storefront clean, bright and seating inside and out.

Finally stopped by. Nice experience, we were greeted right away and didn't have to wait. Simple and clean shop with plenty of parking. There are also a bunch of tables outside in the plaza if you don't want to sit inside. We ordered one mini old fashioned vanilla with oreos and a regular mango/pink lemonade swirl with gummy bears. Portions are huge! I love how they put the toppings in the middle versus sprinkling it on top. Yogurt pricing is standard, especially for the portion size but I do think the toppings are pricey. Nice place to stop after lunch or dinner in the plaza!

As a kid growing up in Huntington Beach I frequently stopped in. Now that there's one here in Irvine I was excited to bring my kids in. We each ordered the mini. It was definitely more than enough. I was surprised at the price of a topping set at $1.79. My daughters and I had cake batter and I also had vanilla. My son had pink lemonade. I can't remember what my husband choose. We all agreed it was just ok and overpriced. We don't plan on returning. UPDATE: since the owner replied to state that the $1.79 includes three toppings I will say I don't think it's states that on the menu and the employees didn't offer up that info. With how high the serving is I can't imagine getting 3. Maybe with a larger size it would work. With the store being new it would be nice if the employees stated it was for 3 toppings. I hope this places does well.

so happy golden spoon is back in Irvine - grew up enjoying this froyo spot and we don't have to drive out to CDM for it :) the classic chocolate and old fashioned vanilla are simple and delicious. the quality of golden spoon is better than other froyo spots, and though pricey it's worth the sweet treat. workers were sweet and offered samples , and gave plenty of toppings. the mini size is perfect!

The salted caramel yogurt is extremely well done! We ended up getting white chocolate chips, cookie dough, and cheesecake bites. It all works perfect with the salted caramel. The cashier hooked it up with extra toppings! Such a fun time. Very delicious. Oh yeah.

We were delighted when Golden Spoon opened near us because it's my boyfriend's favorite frozen treat. We like how there's a balance of timeless favorites together with fresh seasonal choices. There's plenty of parking as well as seating outdoors (& a couple tables inside). Great spot for an afternoon or evening treat.

Regular sized cookie butter - a must try!
    Brian Q.

I haven't been to a Golden Spoon in ages ever since they closed the one in Cerritos years ago, so I was happy to see this new location open up near my workplace. I was torn between getting the cookie butter or coffee flavor, but the super friendly server swayed me to get the cookie butter, and this did not disappoint. It was smooth and delicious, and not overly sweet. It'd be hard for me to pick a different flavor next time, but I do want to give the rest a try. This will easily be one of my go-to spots it this area.

I was slightly surprised that the price is close to $7 for a single scoop of ice cream on a cone, I guess I'm used to those days when ice cream used to be a dollar, but what I did appreciate was that they offered to put it in a cup for us because the portion they give is so generous that it doesn't fit on a cone. I actually wanted something a little healthier when I went so I chose the no sugar added pistachio, which was so good so creamy so delicious and full of pistachio nuts. I'm aware that there are other options nearby such as Dairy Queen at less than half the price of this, but if I had to choose again, I might still come back to Handel's because the single scoop could almost be enough for two people. We went with a few other families and none of the kids could actually finish their ice cream cone, which is actually good because that means you can share. The shop is especially good if you're planning to watch a movie at the Regal Cinema just next door.

I got the s'mores one and it was super delicious, with a graham cracker base, chocolate chips and gooey marshmallows. It was also super creamy and flavorful! The blueberry cobbler one is rich with that blueberry flavor, kind of like a blueberry pie. And the strawberry sorbet was not too sweet and refreshing and it's dairy-free. If you're looking for a sweet treat and don't mind having more than one scoop, go to Handel's!

However, I was still more than happy to check them out when my gf suggested coming here. All of their hype and praise was certainly a big reason why, as well as me wanting to see what Persian ice cream tastes like, but, quite simply, how could I ever say "no" to trying a new ice cream shop? Especially to cap off such a warm evening out! While I can't say how this location compares to their spot in LA, I liked how low-key and unassuming this place felt. Past the counter/register, there's a small amount of seating to the back, but there's also a bunch of seats and tables right out in front. More importantly, though, their display case of ice cream is chock full of enticing options. Inspired by ingredients and flavors from around the world, Saffron Rose's roster of flavors is quite diverse. What's more, from their Mango and French Espresso to their Saffron & Pistachio and Passionfruit, they all looked equal parts unique and delicious! -- FRENCH ESPRESSO While it may not have been quite as amazing as I had hoped, this was still pretty good. Although I wish the taste of the espresso had been more robust, it still had a decent coffee flavor to it that I really liked. -- PASSIONFRUIT I got this mostly because I wanted something a bit tart and citric to balance the French Espresso and it did the trick. The passionfruit was refreshing and I liked that the taste of it wasn't overly acidic. -- SAFFRON WITH PISTACHIO Presumably their namesake flavor? Either way, this may not have been my favorite flavor, but it wasn't bad. The taste of saffron was decently strong and I liked how the pistachios in this added some texture. -- MANGO Of all of the flavors I've tried, this is easily my favorite. Not only did it feel rather refreshing (especially on such a warm night), but it also had a surprisingly strong taste of mango to it. -- POMEGRANATE Unfortunately, this was pretty disappointing. Much like when I got the passionfruit flavor, I wanted something fruity and light to offset the pistachio, but this was a little bit sharp and acidic for my liking. -- GREEN PISTACHIO I love pistachios, so I had some high hopes for this one, but it missed the mark for me. For whatever reason, the taste of pistachios didn't come across as well as it did with the other flavors and the chunks of pistachios felt surprisingly soft. -- PINK ROSE My least favorite of the bunch, but, to be fair, I'm also just not a fan of floral flavors and the rose water showed up most prominently in this one. Even though the first couple of bites were okay, the taste of the rose was too much for me after that. Regardless of the flavor, one thing I noticed about Saffron Rose's ice cream is that they're somewhat similar to gelato, but with a slightly gummier texture to them. What's more, all of the ice cream is made with rose water, which, as mentioned, I'm not a huge fan of, though it was pretty subtle in all of them except the Pink Rose. Also, I didn't care for the wafers they give you either. While I appreciate that they can complement the ice cream well (they resembled those classic cake ice cream cones), the wafers had more of a soft, semi-stale texture rather than a crisp one (unless that's they way they're supposed to be). All and all, considering how they're one of the only Persian ice cream joints around, Saffron Rose is by no means bad in any way. At the very least, their ice cream is certainly unique and even better than some of the gelatos I've had. However, as someone who prefers a more classic, creamy scoop of ice cream, I think Saffron Rose is just okay. My gf, on the other hand, is definitely a fan, so I'm sure more scoops of their Mango and French Espresso will be in my future the next time we visit when we're back in town again! THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded down.

I didn't even finish it; I just threw it away because it was that nasty. * Texture & Taste: It tastes like watered-down diet ice cream. It lacks any of the richness or flavor you'd expect from a specialized shop, especially for how expensive it is. I wouldn't even go back if the ice cream were free. The Location Trap: This place is right on 17th Street next to Sidecar Doughnuts and Pop Pie Co., which is a great, convenient location. If it weren't for the location, I don't see how they would stay in business. Final Verdict: Don't be fooled by the convenient location or the surrounding shops. We ordered three things; mint chocolate chip, rose, and milk and cereal. All with a bubble waffle cone. The service was disappointing, the guy who worked there seemed like he didn't care and it was just another job. No life to him and was just rude about asking the code for the bathroom. The mint and chip is basic. Nothing too much about it. My kids like it, so I got it. Average 3/5. The rose ice cream tasted like a rose, it was pretty good and very floral. The disappointing part is I was hoping the ice cream would be shaped like a rose as depicted on the picture. Nope, just a scoop and left it as is. 5/5 for taste and 0/5 for presentation. The milk and cereal one was actually pretty good. Especially with Frosted Flakes in it. It literally taste like cereal. 5/5. I would give it a higher star if the service complimented it and th presentation of the rose ice cream did.

The blueberry lavender cold foam was super unique it was lightly floral but not overpowering, and it paired really well with the drink underneath. The strawberry cold foam felt fresh and slightly sweet, giving that classic fruity vibe without being too heavy. My personal favorite was the salted caramel cold foam!! it had that perfect balance of sweet and salty and made the drink feel extra indulgent. The café itself has a clean, modern vibe and is a great place to hang out or grab something to-go. Staff was friendly and the drinks came out looking just as good as they tasted Definitely worth checking out if you're in Irvine and want something a little different from your usual coffee run!

It's a long drive for me so I hadn't been in a while, but I was excited to grab my usual on the way to an event. Cold Yuzu Dragonfruit Refresher via the Toast app. Easy pickup. Great plan. Except the drink that was waiting for me was noticeably smaller. Like, significantly. I'm estimating around 12oz. Was it delicious? Yes. Was it worth $9+ when $9 used to mean at least 16oz? Not for me. I get that prices have gone up everywhere. That's just life right now. But the menu gave zero indication that the size had changed, and that's the part that stings. Let me make an informed decision. I probably would've still ordered it. Treat yourself, y'know? But, I just would've mentally prepared to pay a premium for a smaller pour instead of being surprised at pickup. A little transparency goes a long way.
