The young man working was working something while we arrived. I was not acknowledged at all while waiting. We were the only ones waiting at that point. I love coming to Golden Spoon. Have been for many decades enjoying their frozen yogurt. They are so hard to find now that many locations have closed up. Why do I like this place? Well, they have rich creamy yogurt and a variety of flavors that you can choose from. Also their portions are generous and you get to keep your "golden spoon"! Today's flavors include Mango sorbet and Mountain Blackberry. Both of which are quite tart and sweet at the same time. As usual the more toppings the pricer it gets. But it is definitely a nice treat once in awhile. Super friendly staff and interior of store is kept clean. Any visit to Golden Spoon harkens back memories of my teenage years when I used to enjoy fro-yo as a teenager. It's hard to believe this establishment has been handcrafting deliciously creamy frozen yogurt using all-natural ingredients since 1983! Kudos to Golden Spoon for withstanding the test of time. The Irvine location of Golden Spoon occupies the corner unit in the food court at Oak Tree Shopping Center. Parking in this center can be challenging during peak hours. A young teenaged girl worked the front counter when I visited with my daughter on her birthday. We ordered two 8 oz regular cups, but I think this size may be too big for one person...I'd recommend the 4 oz mini cup instead. Due to the special occasion, my daughter got to add toppings and she chose sprinkles and gummy worms (IMO gummies aren't the best toppings for ice cream or froyo because they harden and are more difficult to chew). I was really wanting some chocolate soft serve only to discover their chocolate flavored one was down suddenly. I settled with their strawberry flavored frozen yoghurt with cheese cake topping. What a disappointment. It tasted like one of those artificial strawberry fluoride mouthwash you get at the dentist office. It's too bad because it looked delicious and smelled like it would taste good, too. I am not sure why the texture was also off, also. It had a gritty crystalline mouthfeel to it. The aftertaste was awful. Somehow very bitter and just ick. Giving it a 3-stars due to the otherwise friendly service I received and ample free parking. Finally stopped by. Nice experience, we were greeted right away and didn't have to wait. Simple and clean shop with plenty of parking. There are also a bunch of tables outside in the plaza if you don't want to sit inside. We ordered one mini old fashioned vanilla with oreos and a regular mango/pink lemonade swirl with gummy bears. Portions are huge! I love how they put the toppings in the middle versus sprinkling it on top. Yogurt pricing is standard, especially for the portion size but I do think the toppings are pricey. As a kid growing up in Huntington Beach I frequently stopped in. Now that there's one here in Irvine I was excited to bring my kids in. We each ordered the mini. It was definitely more than enough. I was surprised at the price of a topping set at $1.79. My daughters and I had cake batter and I also had vanilla. My son had pink lemonade. I can't remember what my husband choose. We all agreed it was just ok and overpriced. We don't plan on returning. UPDATE: since the owner replied to state that the $1.79 includes three toppings I will say I don't think it's states that on the menu and the employees didn't offer up that info. With how high the serving is I can't imagine getting 3. Maybe with a larger size it would work. With the store being new it would be nice if the employees stated it was for 3 toppings. Not only are they known for their iconic gold colored spoons, but delicious frozen yogurt, with tons of fresh toppings. So glad this chain has this new location in Irvine. This location is small but has a few tables inside and plenty of outdoor seating. The store was very clean, and the workers were making sure to keep it that way. The workers are great and fast. This is by far my favorite frozen yogurt. Even simple flavors like old-fashioned vanilla just hit the spot. It's so creamy and delicious and love that it's a little healthier than ice cream. I'm kind of a yogurt purist and prefer it plain, but they have plenty of tempting toppings. Make sure to also enter your number to get rewards! We found this place cause we got lowkey sick of yogurt land and honestly this place take the cake. Not the most adventurous guy when it comes to froyo so the berry flavors must hit different and lemme tell you it did. The strawberry lemonade mango swirl is the perfect balance of sweet but not diabetic artificial type and they stack that thing twice on top of that. Then there's the toppings where they're not even stingy when it comes to it and layering helps so much cause the stuff gets stuck in the yogurt. That's not even counting the price since it's only like ~7 pre taxes for a large that is stacked. My girl couldn't even finish a mini which in itself was also stacked so the value proposition was there big time. Oh gosh we were so excited for a Golden Spoon to open down the street! I grew up with the Golden Spoon in Mission Viejo and always loved the fresh toppings, wide variety of flavors that changed seasonally, and reasonable prices. Unfortunately this location has disappointed us after several visits due to minimal flavor selection, no new flavors since they've opened, and several instances of stale toppings (the nuts, cookies, Oreos were soft even within the first few weeks of opening). In addition, while the amount of yogurt is hefty, the containers are too small for what they give and are always falling over on my kiddos. We so badly wanted to make this fro-yo stop our new favorite weekly go-to, but unfortunately are having to go elsewhere (such as Handels close by).
