I want a T-shirt
Elisa G.

Special call out to Zoe who is such a sweetheart! She was very patient while we decided on flavors while we tried all the new ones. I can't believe how much I ate! I loved the coffee love the most but I had to get some of the sherbet tonight. They have amazingly creative flavors and a lot of gluten-free options.

The Tacolate
Hope J.

The Tacolate was pretty small, but I think it was worth trying at least once for those who miss the OG. The flavor was unique as it incorporates some spiced flavors. Service at this location is always great. Even when busy, they always let me try whatever I want and give good recommendations based on my personal preferences. There's no seating inside, but there are some benches in the plaza outside. Can be busy at night, but it doesn't take long.

I've always seen this place and never tried it but it was a hot day on Friday so I decided to try it! Walking in the place smells really good and the inside of the store is very clean! Service was also great! I ordered the white chocolate raspberry and I thought it was good and it's more on the creamy side! They had a lot of flavors and even some combinations that intrigued me that I might have to go back and try!

I love salt & straw and this location is great! Love that we can try as many flavors. We loved the brownie flavor last time we went. I will say the Tacolate is so small!!!! It cost $7 and it is tiny - not worth it. Skip it.

We love visiting Salt & Straw and other ice cream places, but when we visit OC, there's almost nothing available besides the Salt & Straw in Downtown Disney, which has the most inconvenient parking situation. However, when we learned that there's a new location that opened in Newport, we were ecstatic! Now when I come to the area, I always stop by with friends and family to try seasonal flavors and enjoy classics. Service is always friendly and efficient even with the long lines, plus the shop never fails to exhibit their vintage, classic interior design of their branding. The shop itself is kind of small and the line extends out the door like most locations, but everyone has a fun time. You're lured in with the smell of waffle cone batter and the unique ice cream flavor combinations! I love a kid's scoop on a waffle cone or a split scoop in a cup. The best months to go for their flavors: January for Dairy Free Decadence series, March for Cerealously series, June or July for their Berries series, September for the Apple series, and October for the Halloween series!

chocolate almond gold bar and chocolate brownie

Salt & Straw has so many flavors it almost makes it hard to decide, but the samples the girl gave me behind the counter, helped a lot. I ended up with chocolate almond gold bar and chocolate brownie together and that was a good call. The chocolate almond gold bar is creamy chocolate with little almond bits and caramel mixed in, kind of like a frozen candy bar. Then the chocolate brownie scoop is deeper and richer with soft brownie chunks all through it. Eating them together works really well because one is smooth and sweet and the other is heavier and fudgy, so every bite tastes a little different. I also tried a sample of the honey lavender which was really good, just felt like going more dessert style today. Definitely glad I went with these two!

You can never go wrong with salt & straw! We were excited to try the Thanksgiving flavors. I loved the koginut squash & pomegranate! Squash ice scream, who would have thought? Split scoop with chocolate brownie and it was amazing! Staff is always friendly and happy to have you try as many flavors as you want.

i was really excited to try the limited edition cereal flavors, but i was honestly really disappointed :( it was my first time trying salt and straw, so i wasn't sure what to expect... maybe my taste buds aren't mature enough for the unique flavors, but i sampled a handful of them and didn't like any. we ended up getting a cinnamon snickerdoodle shake. my bf described it as "if horchata made a second movie... horchata 2." he liked it, but it was pretty average to me.

Bad serving size.

What are these portions?? This team feels like their servings come directly out of their paychecks.

Unique ice cream flavors, big scoops and super friendly service! You can literally try all the flavors you want and the best part is the workers are actually friendly and happy to let you try. The ice cream is a soft and creamy & really does have a bold taste matching the flavor name. The line can be long, but worth the wait, on a friday night waited about 30 mins.

This was our first time coming to this Salt & Straw location, we've been to the one at Downtown Disney before this. It was nice to come in with no crowded lines and we didn't feel rushed while we were sampling all the flavors. The employees were so kind and really helped us narrow it down what we wanted to get. The only downsides were that the waffle cone wasn't crunchy as it's supposed to be, it was pretty soft. Also, the ice cream I got wasn't frozen as it should've been, it started melting at a fast rate the moment I received it. Other than that, I love the concept of this ice cream shop and the flavors never disappoint!

Made A Afternoon Visit To Salt & Straw, Newport Beach!! Ice Cream Shop With Handmade Ingredients & Variety Of Flavors!! Friendly Staff & Relaxed Ambiance!! Love The Rotating Monthly Flavors, Classics, Limited Edition & Holiday Series!! Tried Few Samples & Ordered The Honey Lavender & Peppermint Cocoa!! Flavors Were So Good!! Service Was Quick & Helpful!! So Many Flavors To Try Next Time, Will Return Again!! ThankU

Love salt and straw, it never ceases to disappoint! My favorite flavor is the honey lavender, they just do it best. It's a permanent flavor so even if the rotating monthly flavors don't quite do it for me, this is my go-to. When I went in April the rotating flavors were just so-so imo, but I got my staple and one of the "leftover" march flavors which had lucky charms in it (thought that was fun). The staff were friendly as always and the line was long but moved fast (also as always). Just overall one of the best places to get dessert in SoCal (or other parts of the east coast) imo :)

The names and images were on a big poster marquee and I figured it looked like caramel, fudge and maybe banana... so why not. Right away the texture stood out. Not too soft, not frozen solid, just that perfect scoopable consistency where every bite melts slowly instead of disappearing instantly. It starts creamy and mellow, then suddenly you run into caramel and chunks of chocolate brownie and it turns into a totally different bite. Every spoonful kind of surprises you a little. It ended up being way richer than I expected and honestly one of the best single scoops I've had in a long time. Super friendly lady slso was behind the window too, felt welcoming right away. Definitely coming back because if this was a random pick off the menu, I want to see what the rest taste like.

The Order: * My Go-To: I highly recommend the chocolate chip cookie with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top. * Variety: They have every flavor of milk, ice cream, and cookies you could want. Timing & Atmosphere: * Avoid Weekends: I would not recommend coming here on a weekend. The store is tiny, and because it's right next to all the bars, the area gets crowded with a lot of drunk people. If that isn't your scene, stick to a weekday visit. * Rewards: It is quite expensive, but it's a nice treat. Plus, you can sign up with your phone number to get discounts for future visits. The Parking Situation: * Virtually Non-Existent: There is no parking lot, so you are stuck looking for small spots along the side of the road. * Accessibility: There is no designated handicap parking, so keep that in mind if you aren't prepared to walk a bit from a side street. Final Verdict: It's a perfect weekday spot for a warm dessert, just be prepared for the peninsula parking struggle!
