I can't say enough good things about this place. The boba is amazing, flavors are delicious, and the staff are so kind. I've been coming here for 2 years and nothing beats Rooster tea house. My go tos are any of the fruit green teas with boba. Lately I've been loving the Strawberry and Peach. You can adjust sweetness too. They also have little ice cream tubs which are the best flavors. LOVE the black sesame and thai tea. read more

To be honest, I was holding off going here because of the reviews that said the drinks were overly sweet. However, one day, my mini me and I were craving Thai tea Boba and this place was next on the list for us to try. I had the green Thai tea and she had the traditional orange Thai tea both served with golden Boba. We were able to customize a sweetness level so I chose 75% mine and she had 50% for hers. The inside of the café had a smell that wasn't quite pleasant. It was a little off, but the baristas were so sweet. There are a lot of businesses in this parking complex so parking was tight. OK, back to the taste of the drink. We nervously took a sip of our drinks and were pleasantly surprised. The golden Boba was a first for us, and it was so good perfectly squishy yet firm, the ideal texture. We enjoyed our drinks and I'm excited to come back to try more! read more

Rooster Tea had a nice selection of teas available. Their drinks were really sweet here, especially the fruit teas. I should have gotten 50-75% sweet. The drinks were better after I diluted the milk tea with milk and the fruit teas with 3x water. * Taro Coconut Milk Tea (non caffeine) 4.5/5 - This was a very nice drink. It had a strong, smooth taro taste which I really liked. The coconut milk was pretty understated, and I didn't really taste it. * Strawberry Hisbiscus Tea 3/5 - This was a sweet drink, but the flavors didn't really come through. 100% sweet was too much for me and I had to add more water to make it drinkable. read more

Stopped by because we seen that they had boba slushies. I ordered the Mango Slushie with Boba and my granddaughter ordered the Strawberry Matcha with Boba. Both drinks were very delicious. I especially liked that the Boba was soft. My slushie melted fast though. I guess I wasn't drinking it fast enough. The inside is decorated very cute and there's plenty of inside seating. read more

This cute little boba shop was right next to Perspire Sauna Studio where I attended a Yelp Elite event. I decided to pop in for a drink to cool down. The place is small but cute. It's in a strip mall with lots of other businesses so parking can be tough. The girl at the register was informative and gave me descriptions of the drinks on their menu. I ended up with a mango type smoothie with boba. The drink was ok. The mango flavor tasted very artificial. The boba was soft and had good consistency. Overall, the place is cute and vibes but the drink was just ok. read more

Pretty yummy, I bought the Ube milk tea with lychee jelly. I usually don't get this option but the cashier recommended it. The staff is friendly. The place is small, and very simple. Next time I might just go with my regular Thai milk tea though. Definitely will be back. read more

Went on a Sunday evening around 5 and it wasn't busy! Worker was pretty helpful and drinks came out quick! I got the mango hibiscus tea with honey boba. I like that they have this flavor because I've never seen it anywhere else! It was a good even mix of fresh mango flavor/juice and hibiscus tea. The hibiscus part was a little too sweet so I'd get lower sweetness if that was an option next time. The honey boba was pretty fresh and chewy. I tried a sip of their peach tea too and I liked it because the tea flavor balanced out the sweetness better. Would come back and get the same or try something different! read more

I love this place so much! My friends and I all love coming here after a long day of school. I would drink this every day

I was craving for a brown sugar boba milk drink and found Rooster Tea on Yelp while in the area. Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon - it was pretty empty inside with only one person ahead in line. Drinks were quickly delivered upon ordering (~3 minutes). 17 oz Tiger Sweet Milk Boba ($5.45): I asked to adjust sweetness level and was told they could include less brown sugar around the perimeter of the drink. The drink ended up still being incredibly sweet and some of the boba was tender while others had a bit of a hard center. Very disappointing. 17 oz Taro Slush ($5.15): All powder only with no fresh taro, drink was very watered down with just a hint of taro flavor. Overall, not a tea shop I would visit again as the ingredients did not seem as fresh as other boba shops. read more

I came here tonight after I got sushi at district Sushi perfect combo. :) This spot is small. Quick and efficient service. Limited parking in the lot. The drinks were yummy! I tried the jasmine milk tea boba and strawberry hibiscus. Both were pretty tasty. read more

My cousins and I decided to go to a boba tea shop after going to afternoon tea. I don't care what you think, it's different. I opted for the Hokkaido Milk tea with egg pudding and whole milk, less sweet because the pudding is sweet. My drink came out in a few minutes and it was good. The sweetness was still a bit sweet but I liked it. It's interesting that they use non-dairy for their drinks and charge extra for cow's milk. Glad to see they have the option I guess. I can see how parking in this tiny lot can get crazy but we went when there was a lull in activity on a Sunday afternoon. Service was good and they had some spots to sit which we took advantage of. read more

Tried out Rooster Tea while I was in the area. The staff were very friendly and helped us work through a larger group order efficiently which I appreciate. I personally got the strawberry matcha latte, which has plenty of strawberry purée (I'd say it leans more on the stronger strawberry flavor end than stronger matcha flavor) and comes with sea cream foam on top that can be taken off or adjusted at your request. Their golden boba is also very pleasantly chewy. The sweetness level for most of the drinks is pretty high by default so I would recommend you get 50% or lower if you're looking for a less sugary drink, although some of them have the sweetness set. Overall a nice place to go to for drinks if you're in the mood. read more

Whenever I step into this store, it always reminds me of the beach! I love how chewy their boba is here and the drinks are always consistently made. I love their exclusive flavors too, back when they had blueberry matcha!! The mango matcha is always my go to. I love this place! We have decided to visit the beach more often this summer and we are boba fanatics. Was looking for a good boba shop near the area. This is our go-to now! Everyone is very sweet and puts love into your drinks. Restaurant was VERY clean and nice to sit in after a long day of swimming. Owner is very open to questions we had about the menu and helped us picked out our drinks. We are glad to have stopped by here! read more

I happened to be in the area today and decided to try out this location. I ordered the mango hibiscus drink and was really impressed. It tasted fresh, fruity, and refreshing, with small chunks of mango that added a nice touch. The boba was perfectly chewy, just the way I like it! The staff was friendly and helpful, and the overall vibe of the shop was cozy and welcoming. They also have the lunar new year decorations up which make the shop even more festive. read more

Ordered a mango peach green tea less ice and sugar -- a boring order for such a well-rounded menu. Tasted fresher and more natural without being too earthy -- less syrupy than other boba spots. Boba soft, chewy and fresh. Much healthier alternatives to the standard bubble tea store. Menu says they use actual fruit juice in at least some of their drinks, which was apparent in the end result of their product. They also offer substitutions of almond and oat milk in their milk teas, etc. as opposed to non-dairy creamer -- a HUGE plus for me. Customer service warm, welcoming, helpful, and efficient. Great location in East side Costa Mesa on 17th st. Areas to study or work and free WiFi. They offer a substantial variety of drinks compared to other bubble tea shops. Cant wait to come back and try their Matcha Blitz or Taro Coconut Milk Tea read more

After dinner, my friend and I couldn't decide where to go for boba. He had me pick a number and it led us to Rooster Tea haha It turned out to be a miss for me but I personally didn't have high expectations coming in I ordered the strawberry matcha. My family and I came here after our beach day. This place is at the lower end with soo many other boba business options. Definitely not the best! Just wanted to give my review because we love boba and I was kinda disappointed since we were really looking forward to having a good drink and the large cup is kinda small compared to other businesses. However, I did give them 3 stars due to the employee's being kind but they did put alot of ice in our drinks. read more

One of my favorite boba spots in the area!! The owner is always nice and I love supporting local businesses. The drinks are delicious and pretty good quality in the milk and toppings, at least as far as flavor goes. The biggest con is the parking - this lot is often a nightmare to get in and out of, particularly at rush times. Finding a spot on my last visit took over 5 minutes of circling the lot in chaos. The staffing may need to be upped. The girl at the counter was upfront and let me know that it would be a bit of a wait on a week night at about 5:30pm. About 5 other in-person orders were made ahead of mine, as well as what I assume where onlines. But I ended up waiting 15+ minutes for a single drink (I agreed to wait, I'll admit). Not my finest visit here, but I've had good experiences in the past. read more

I went to Rooster's Tea yesterday after work and tried something new! As I was driving side streets it was a nice scenic view too. As I arrived to Rooster's Tea I couldn't find it because I was looking at the building and had missed its name too. When calling the store an associate who picked up was friendly too and was helpful. The parking could be difficult because it's medium sized and kind of packed in a way. I ordered the mango slushy with egg pudding, crystal boba, and mango puree. I couldn't have anything caffeinated but caffeine free. I decided to try their slushy instead. The mango in the slushy wasn't the real fruit but the mango puree was the real fruit and delicious. My drink was pretty refreshing and their slush ice was nice and smoothe. I ordered my husband and son honeydew slush as well! I would like to try their strawberry slushy next time too! The gentlemen working in the store was nice and friendly and I could probably storm up a convo in there! read more

Brown Sugar milk tea is good! Not too sweet and refreshing on a hot day. I wish they would give just a tiny bit more boba as I'm all about those! Tried the tiger milk tea and was not a huge fan. I think it had too many flavors going on for me. I'll stick to my usual brown sugar milk tea. The inside is well maintained, really clean and cute hipster vibes. The workers are friendly and really warming. Not sure if the lady I keep running Into is the owner but she's sweet. The inside is Definitely perfect for Newport Mesa vibes! Parking is not the greatest but it's not their fault. The plaza is just always jammed pack so prepare to wait for at least 5 or 10 mins for a spot depending on when you go. read more
