Drinks were both really good; however the sweetness levels here are quite sweet. Would recommend 50% or even 25%. Got our drinks at 75% and 100% and that was too sweet haha

I'm not sure why this place is so well reviewed, when I've only had poor experiences with the tea here. I've gotten a few of the tea lattes on different visits and they've always been pretty dilute with not much tea flavor. This time I ordered a Ceylon tea latte with 25% sugar, less ice and chose the "tea heavy" option as well (versus milk heavy). And the tea flavor is still pretty dilute. Quite disappointing.

Got the roasted oolong tea latte with less sugar. I thought the tea flavor was not strong, or like watered down. I really like that this place offers lots of variety of drinks including matcha and frappe. Parking is very limited in front of the shop but I parked within the parking garage.

It was pretty good! When you walk in, the smell already lets you know it'll be high quality tea. We ordered the Phoenix Oolong 50% sweetness, but I actually would go 75-100%. The Rose Guanyin was good, but felt like there could be a bit more of that signature floral taste. Boba was chewy and fresh! There are a few small tables inside, and large parking lot available.

You can taste the tea! I got peach green tea 50% sweet and it was still very sweet so I'd say this place is on the sweeter side. Parking is kind of weird but I think there is a parking garage that you can use. Otherwise, there is like strip of parking spaces in the front.

Decent milk tea joint worthy of multiple visits. Tea was done pretty fast and the place was nice and clean. We got the phoenix and the lychee tea. Both were good. The phoenix was definitely on par with Desouro and the lychee tea was nice and strong. I recommend 100% sweetness, but I like sweet drinks.

Maybe the best boba I've had in a while since leaving California. The tea quality was amazing. Even when you walk in you can smell how great it is. The staff were kind and efficient. There were a few tables and a bench to sit and wait at. The tea was refreshing and the boba was fresh as well, soft and not firm at all and it stayed that way till the drink was gone. Had the rose guan yin and would highly recommend stopping here for those in the area!!!

There's not many tea shops around OC that have special teas as Bako. The shop is located in a weird plaza hidden away and parking can be tough. The store is nice a clean. There's one kiosk to order from out front since the workers are usually making drinks in the back. Last time I didn't like how it was milk heavy, and I noticed their kiosk shows an option to pick milk heavy or tea heavy. An awesome addition of a drink customization! They offer special teas like genmaicha, hojicha, different types of oolong, and many more. They have different add ons as well. I did notice that the boba I got was overly sweet though.

Ever since the OROBAE shutdown, Bako is the main boba place I go to. They offer a variety of milk and fruit teas with different toppings. This time, I got the Phoenix Oolong Tea Latte with 25% sugar, less ice, boba, and tea heavy. What I appreciate about Bako is the tea heavy option because I really enjoy the tea flavor. The tea was floral and smooth. And the boba was just the right chewiness for me. Everything about it just tastes really balanced. Drinks came out in around 5 min on a Saturday afternoon. Not much seating indoors but there are a few additional 2-person tables lined up against the window outside.

This aesthetic here is how I've decorated my room. It's a beautiful Japanese, warm wooded, and dark metal accents. I usually like my plain teas with 25% sweet but I got the sesame seed frappe at 50% and I think I'll go no less than 75% sweet next time. Servers are nice and explain the menu & add ons, including their suggestions of sweetness :) I love the curation!

Came here for the first time a few weeks ago. Parking is a bit sparse at this location... I got the peachy oolong tea and enjoyed it very much. The tea flavor is strong and the peach flavor was well-balanced (none of that artificial stuff!).

I ordered the kumquat lemon green tea with boba for pickup and I thought it was okay. The drink itself was more sour than I'd like so I'd definitely go from 25% sweetness to 50% next time. I'd skip out on the boba, it was too chewy and firm. I'd prefer it to be softer. Overall, just ok for this drink.

What a gorgeous tea spot. I love the ambiance and interior design. Places like these make you feel like you're buying luxury tea LOL I want to design my future home or office like this. Let's talk about the tea, though. Here are my drink ratings: OSMANTHUS AMBER OOLONG TEA, 8/10 - so yummy and the boba i got it with was a good chewy texture. i think the regular is a little too sweet for me personally but i usually order 50-75% sweet HOJICHA LATTE, 6/10 (my BF rates 6.8/10) - not the best hojicha we've had but it'll do Service was fast. I think we were the first to order because we came right at opening LOL. Will come back soon to try other menu items!

At the Costa Mesa location, parking was a little tricky at first, but after circling we got lucky with a corner spot. The location itself is SO cute! It's right next to colorful barrel fountains, and on a sunny day it honestly felt like the perfect coffee outing. The line was pretty long and you are standing in direct sun, so just keep that in mind, but the service was quick and efficient once you order. Inside, it's small but really charming, with Sunny Angels hidden around and a very open, friendly vibe. My sister (who is basically a professional coffee drinker at this point ) got the matcha and said it was her favorite, which says a lot. I got the iced Spanish latte with oat milk, and it was SO good. Spanish lattes are my go-to, and this one had the perfect hint of cinnamon without being overly sweet. Even as the ice melted, it still tasted great, which is rare. The Torrance location was just as good! Parking was easier, the space is bigger, and the service was still super friendly and fast. My husband got the cold brew "Nook way" and finished it in like 10 minutes. He said it tasted like Golden Grahams cereal. Highly recommend both locations and especially the Spanish latte. Definitely worth the visit!

The parking however, was VERY filled during this time. The line was huge for a 11:00am on a Friday morning. I am notorious for chugging my iced coffee but this was absolutely delicious. A sweet, subtle honey sweetness taste and the creamy oat milk was divine. My manager's Spanish Latte was so much better & I will be getting that next time! We bought our other coworker the Strawberry Matcha, which we did not try & we were worried after the fact because it did not look like it had strawberries in it, but she confirmed it was very tasty and tasted the strawberry! The outside seating areas in this outdoor area was very cute. Lots of fun art, the directory was creative, the CD tunnel was the coolest part! We also walked over to the breakfast burrito place as well. This seems like a nice area to come and relax and just people watch and enjoy a delicious iced latte from Nook.

There is limited parking but the lot was mostly empty when I visited at 8am on a weekday. I was greeted with a smile upon entry and I got in a line of about 8 people. The line would whittle down rather quickly but then would go right back up to about 8, back & forth, during the entire time I was there. Only 2 gals were working but they were like a machine, taking orders and cranking out drinks in a perfectly synchronized barista ballet. I ordered a large hot Spanish latte and chose a chocolate croissant from the pastry case. I declined having the pastry warmed as the chocolate gets melty and gooey-messy all over my hands. She informed me that the latte would have 4 shots of espresso unless I wished otherwise, but I was ready for a good case of coffee jitters. The interior is very small with 6 two-tops crammed together and a window counter with 5 or so chairs. I sat at a table. The latte was perfectly made, served at immediate drinking temperature, with a great quality coffee and a cinnamon flavor that was exactly the right strength. The croissant was fresh with plenty of chocolate inside. By the time I finished it, I looked like a three-year-old; my lips were smeared with chocolate. This was an excellent pastry. Got both the hot latte with 2% milk (12 oz) and iced latte with 2% milk + house made vanilla (12 oz). The house made vanilla was good, nothing special but did not have that artificial, alcohol-y taste you sometimes get from the store bought syrups. The drinks, however, tasted more milk than espresso forward. Not my personal preference but if you like your drinks on the milkier side this is probably better suited for your tastes. The flavor of the espresso was fine but I personally would have preferred to add a min additional shot or two for a more coffee forward taste, even with just the plain latte.

But if a business advertises that they close at 8:00 PM, customers reasonably expect to still be able to place an order before 8. Even a simple "we can only do a limited menu right now" would have felt more accommodating. What made the experience disappointing was not just being turned away, but the feeling that we were unwelcome despite technically arriving before closing time. South Coast Plaza already closes relatively early compared to many food spots, so making the effort to get there before 8 only to be denied service left a bad impression.
