Decent matcha spot located at the Mitsuwa market. I ordered the strawberry matcha latte and the milk overpowered the flavor profile. The strawberry jam adds a nice contrast to the drink. Fast service! The ambiance is bustling in this area due to the location in food court. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to get my matcha fix here unless I'm already at Mitsuwa market.
This is a small cafe spot located in Mitsuwa. Service was super fast -- I got my drink within 5 minutes. I'd recommend giving this place a try if you're shopping. Hojicha milk tea with boba -- 8/10. The boba hard carried this. It was so soft and chewy. The drink itself was meh. I couldn't exactly taste the hojicha, but it satisfied my boba craving. It honestly tasted more like brown sugar milk tea than hojicha milk tea
This is my first time trying Umacha and my matcha donchan was pretty good! It wasn't too sweet and I could taste the matcha. However, my sister got the matcha tarot and said her drink was only okay, she could barely taste the taro but explained that the matcha part was good. The service was quite fast though and the staffs seemed knowledgeable about their drinks.
Umacha is located inside the food court of mitsuwa Costa Mesa. It's right in the center and hard to miss. I went on a Thursday during lunch and there was no line or wait. The cashier was super helpful in helping me decide what drink to get and was also really patient when I was indecisive lol. The matcha itself didn't have a strong flavor unfortunately and mostly tasted like milk.
Parking here can get horrendous. They do have a garage if you go around the outside lot, but usually there's a long line. The store is located inside Mitsuwa food court area. They do have seating areas in the food court as well. I ordered the Hoji Cha Milk Tea and it was good and smooth. It wasn't really sweet and does have a unique taste. Really loved our indulgent delicious drink from Umacha. Visited Mitsuwa on a busy Black Friday to refuel between shopping, and as usual all was delicious. Umacha matcha donchan was our dessert, and it delivered! This is a SWEET drink, so def recommend going no/low sugar. Service was friendly and fast, would absolutely return when in the area.
Umacha is a small boba/matcha spot located in Costa Mesa's Mitsuwa. Be warned that parking is a gamble, you might get lucky and be able to park fairly easily, or you might have the worst time trying to find a spot since everyone and their mom is here today. But when you are able to visit, it's in the dead center of Mitsuwa, and you won't miss it. The workers are really nice and friendly! If you're also hungry, the food court is right behind, which is really nice. I got the matcha strawberry latte and the regular matcha latte. I personally wasn't too big on the matcha strawberry, as I felt like the strawberry jam clashed with the ceremonial matcha used, and wasn't particularly that enjoyable. However, the regular matcha latte was really good! I think because it was just the average matcha latte with milk and the ceremonial matcha, nothing clashed and they both just complimented each other. Definitely visit Umacha if you're already at Mitsuwa and looking for a sweet treat, or are willing to gamble for parking :p
Umacha in Costa Mesa, is located in the super busy Mitsuwa marketplace. Parking is shared with the grocery store and it is a pain in the butt to find parking here during very busy hours. I would come in between the rush. You can find, Umacha, in the middle of the food court. Their setup is just like a bar which is kinda cool especially when the food court is packed and you can't find anywhere to sit. The bar area has a bunch of really neat plants. I absolutely loved looking at all of them. I'm a plant enthusiast but haven't had plants in a while, so I was enjoying the display. Umacha, offers some milk teas with or without cheese cream, fruit teas, lemonades, slush and coffees. I ordered the matcha donchan half sweet. This drink was so good. I loved how strong the matcha flavor came through. I highly recommend ordering this one. The next time I go back to Santoukka in the same food court, I am definitely coming back to try their other teas. That was a perfect dessert after my ramen dinner.
I had not been to this Mitsuwa in a while, so took a walk into the food court area and Umach caught my eye. I saw what the popular drinks were and ordered the number 1 drink called "Donchan" with less sugar and it was so good that I drove back the next day to get another one. Parking is a major hassle here. First day I got very lucky, but had to circle around about 3 times the second time around.
got the mango matcha at half sweetness which was ok. I wasn't a big fan of the matcha as it tasted too watered down and you can see that it's still grainy. the peach lemonade however was refreshing and good. I've tried their other drinks before and they were great I just wouldn't get the matcha here again
After a quick shopping trip to south coast mall, I stopped by umacha to pick up a drink before heading home. Smacked right in the middle of the food court is this boba shop. It was my first time so I asked for a few recommendations. I ended up getting their passionfruit tea which came with jelly, but I customized it with light boba, extra passionfruit, and extra ice. The worker was able to accommodate my requests without any issue. I was also able to sample their pumpkin milk tea, which was pretty good. As for my passionfruit, it was delicious. The Japanese tea flavor really came through. I would not only get that again, but I would also try their milk tea series next time. All in all, good service and good products make this place a a must try!

I love the unique names for their drinks! The male server was a really nice guy and he tried his best to be accommodating to people. He and this other server were very organized and quick with other people's orders. read more
I'm starting to believe that I deserve a local OC award for discovering the best milk tea venues in OC. SERVICE Varies. Some of them are super nice, friendly and helpful and just like in any industry, there are some bad apples who should seriously get a job where they're sitting inside a cubicle not interacting with customers just to make them feel bad. So far, I've had 2 cashiers here who have been very nice and generously helpful. It can get confusing with a big menu. read more

Loveeeee this place! Their drinks are fantastic and sooo fresh. Their boba is very soft and chewy. I tried a few drinks and love every one of them. The only issue for me is the size...wish it was bigger lol. You can't go wrong with any of their drinks so order with confidence read more

Got a iced mango matcha with oat milk. The mango was mango jelly not a fan of the jelly. The matcha was delicious. Good service, drink was made quickly. It's in a food court. Depending on the time of day, is wether it'll be relaxing or busy. I went at 11 they had just opened, was empty. Will be coming back. $7 for my matcha it was a solid 9/10. Would recommend. read more
We were checking out the Mitsuwa food court and noticed this distinctively more Japanese-style boba shop. They have two teas that typically aren't found at Taiwanese or Chinese influenced shops - Hojicha and Genmaicha. We ended up getting one drink to share: Genmaicha Milk Tea, 16oz Cold, 50% Sugar, Less Ice ($5.5) - The tea is actually quite good. It has a deep rice-like toasty flavor that comes through with every sip. They use fructose syrup as the sweetener, so there's a bit of a harsh bite, and non-dairy creamer, but the tea is still the strongest link. This drink comes with boba. The boba is great. It's fantastically q, with the perfect level of both chew and bounce. Smooth yet soft, clearly sweetened in brown sugar syrup. Delicious. Milk Tea Rating: 4.5/5 Boba Rating: 5/5 I did not expect to find such good boba in a food court of all places. If I lived in the area, I would probably return any time I shopped at Mitsuwa. read more

Umacha is one of the places in Mitsuwa Market which doesn't currently have it's name on the outside of the buillding well at least on the Palarino side entrance) ( looks like some construction) Four nice ADA spaces -no mobility carts Umacha is one of the vendors inside Clean beautiful festive even atmosphere all around Super-nice employees, and customers all around They were very gracious about accepting all my boba customizations Love this place and will be back Delicious black milk tea with almond milk and extra boba read more

Umacha, located inside Mitsuwa Marketplace in Costa Mesa, is a popular tea "bar" spot and neat ambiance surrounding by other food court choices. You can seat off the end at the "bar" area or pick any open tables available throughout the food court. My friends and I ordered the Brown Sugar Latte with honey boba, Hojicha Boba and Matcha Latte. All were delicious but very run-of-the-mill flavors and selections. The quality of the beverages, especially the hojicha milk tea with boba, is good -- matcha seems pretty standard. Oddly, I thought would be "special" considering the name of the place. However, if you're strictly coming for boba, I would avoid due to that the location can get busy during peak hours, and parking may be challenging due to shared spaces with the marketplace. For those who's shopping and wanting to grab a drink before you head out...this is perfect spot to check out. The service is okay nothing engaging or outstanding. If you also happened to be plant enthusiasts, while Mitsuwa Marketplace itself doesn't specialize in plants, Umacha offers some limited selection of succulents for sale (including this "heart shaped plant that I was eyeing). read more

Tried this place out yesterday while we were shopping in Mitsuwa. I ordered a drink that I typically order at other spots too, the Jasmine Tea with cheese cream foam - iced, 50% sweet with boba. This was by far the best version of that drink order I've ever had! The boba was fresh & warm! The flavor profiles of the sweet boba, floral jasmine and salty cheese cream worked so well together. I saw someone below mention they didn't enjoy the Jasmine here but I beg to differ. It is a great Jasmine tea which should always taste floral & fresh, I did not find it to be soapy or overpowering. The staff is also very nice and helpful with any questions. The tea was made quickly. The ambiance was cute and easy going for a place in the center of this market. I am from out of town and I think I may have to stop by here again once more before I leave just for this drink! read more

My favorite place to get boba in oc! I'm a regular at this Mitsuwa and I see umacha every time I'm here!! My favorite is their chewy boba, it's perfectly sweet for me. Their grapefruit drink is great for a summer vibe as well as their matcha. Their customer service is always great too :) It's in the center of mitsuwa market so don't miss it and try their drinks out!! read more
Strawberry Matcha Latte (almond milk extra $1): I got it less sweet and enjoyed the customizations - ice level, sweetness levels broken down to 4 parts, alternative milk availability. Location is nearby another matcha dessert place and there are various cool Japanese eateries here too, making this a central location for Japanese eats. Parking can be somewhat difficult but it's a relatively easy way and out. read more

An alright decent boba spot if you have a craving and already at Mitsuwa. Located in the food court, the spot is naturally busy around the peak lunch hour so definitely keep that in mind, esp on weekends when the parking situation is crazy. I always stick with the matcha, so went with what seems to be their most popular matcha drink with the cheese foam and boba. I like that you could adjust ice and sweetness but it was more of a light matcha taste compared to some other spots. Boba is pretty good and chewy (a tad bit too sweet for me tho). My favorite part was actually the cheese foam as it was nicely flavored and not too salty. Service was quick overall when you take into consideration the busy times when I was there. They had cute little decor for just being a boba spot in the middle of the eating area. read more

One of the things my husband and I did after we landed in California was head out to get some ramen and matcha tea after being out of the country for two weeks. Normally, we would have gone to In-N-Out, but we had a really meat heavy diet in Turkiye, and I was trying to make up for the faux-ramen experience we had in Istanbul. While we were waiting for ramen from Santouka, I ordered a taro matcha latte from UMACHA, less ice, less sweet. It was ready in a flash and I picked it up when my name was called. I shook it up before I stuck my straw in to take a sip. It was creamy, slightly sweet, and a little earthy from the matcha. It was delightful and just what I needed after a long travel day. Let's face it, it's hard to sleep in the sky, so why not get a jolt of caffeine. Service was good and the wait was minimal, despite the food hall being busy with after lunch rush. Love the matcha here! I always order the simple iced matcha or hot matcha unsweetened. The tea is good quality and service is quick. It's located in the Mitsuwa food court with plenty of seating around. Packaging is cute! Umacha is overall an ideal spot to enjoy your drink alongside your meal. read more

I decided to try this spot cuz it was right in the middle of the food court. The service was great and the staff are super nice when it comes to giving recommendations. I had gotten the matcha latte and thought it was okay, nothing too special about it but I'll be back to try more of their drinks to give them another try! Since the name was around macha, I got a regular iced matcha latte to try, half sweet. I wasn't sure how sweet it would be since normally matcha lattes can be quite sweet. Turns out this wasn't sweet enough so there's a bottle of cane sugar syrup available to adjust on the side. It was decent and smooth so that's not bad for the price of $5.50... just not a matcha latte I would crave. read more

First time my trying this place, omg their cheese foam brown sugar boba milk drink is SOoOoO gooOoOd!!!! The bobas are so chewy and the cheese foam with the milk is sOoOo good! I haven't had such a good boba drink in a while! Most places doesn't make their bobas that chewy anymore. The other drink is grape fruit tea and it's very refreshing! I think both drinks are made with good quality ingredients. Service is good. Ambiance is nice. read more
Cheese cream really has that cheese taste. Mix the cream well with the drink to really get that creamy taste blended in with jasmine tea. The staff taking the order are thorough with taking the order and they were quick preparing the drinks. Didn't have to wait long! read more
Service was excellent, my first time trying out matcha and i got recommended this strawmat latte. It was delicious and sweet enough. Price is average ~$6 a small size cup. Plenty of seating in the food court of Mitsuwa! Will be returning :) 9/10 read more

First time trying this boba place inside Mitsuwa market. We ordered the Thai tea even though we didn't see it on the menu. They made the drink fairly quick and was friendly enough. I really loved the texture of the boba; and the sweetness was perfect for me; however the Thai tea tasted different. Maybe it was the milk they used but not sure. I will come back again for the boba and try a different drink. read more

Considering my boyfriend and I were already in Mitsuwa, we couldn't pass up the chance to try out a new boba spot! Of course I had to get my Regular Jasmine Milk Tea w/ Brown Sugar Boba. I was sad they only had the brown sugar type of boba because it definitely overpowered the entire drink making it sweet :( It was still good, but I probably would get the drink without boba next time. Price was reasonable for their quality! If you're in the market already, it wouldn't hurt to try out some of their other drinks as well! read more

Yum yum! Ordered the Hojicha milk tea, 50% sweet, less ice. It comes with boba. I really enjoyed the milk tea but it was still too sweet for me. I'll have to adjust to even less than 50% next time. The boba was chewy though a tad soft because it was freshly cooked. It firmed up a bit as the ice cooled them down. The service was great and ladies who work there are very sweet. I like this spot because it's in Mitsuwa so you can do some great food and snack shopping and enjoy the little food court. I definitely plan to come back when I have more time to eat and shop! read more
