Updated review: Auntea Jenny in Irvine has quickly become one of my favorite boba spots, and after two visits, I can confidently say the drinks here are something special. The staff were super friendly and helpful both times the kind of welcoming energy that makes you want to come back. My first visit I went with the jasmine green tea and the black milk tea. Both were really solid, but the jasmine green tea stood out light, fragrant, and perfectly balanced. Definitely a must-order. I came back for their Yelp event and got to try even more of the menu. The mango sago was amazing rich, fruity, and satisfying. But the real showstopper for me was the matcha jasmine latte. It hit every note I wanted: creamy, earthy, and just the right amount of floral. Easily my favorite drink from either visit. I also tried the apricot health series drink not expecting much, and it completely surprised me so refreshing and unique. A great option if you want something lighter. The only minor note is that the space is a bit on the smaller side, so it's not the best spot if you're looking to set up and study for a few hours. We tried Auntea Jenny for the first time yesterday. We're boba/milk tea/fruity tea/coffee/matcha enthusiasts and like to venture out and explore new places. The boba baristas were friendly and had positive attitudes. I was helped as soon as I got to the counter. It was a busy Thursday evening. People were coming and going. The place is compact, but they make the space work. I like their decor. Pro tip: Download the app and order online. It saves time and you get rewards. It said my order was going to take 35 minutes, but it was ready sooner than that. Mango Coconut Sago My husband got this drink and he liked it. It's similar to the Mango Coconut Boom at HeyTea. He preferred the Hey Tea version though. Kale Apple Fiber Chia Seed Boost Tea This caught my attention because I've never seen a Superfood section in a speciality drink place. It was refreshing and healthy. Premium Matcha Daifuku Cheese Foam I usually prefer matcha plain and tried it with the cheese foam since it was a popular option. I loved it! The mango was perfectly ripe and the drink was sweet and refreshing. Expect to see me during the summer months. Got the Mango Sago and it didn't make it home haha (I drank it all during the drive back) service was quick for how busy it was. I wasn't able to go inside the store because I was with my toddlers in the car but from what is visible the store looks nice. My husband says they have very modern bathrooms too. read more

Auntea Jenny recently opened in Irvine, in the same plaza as Tokyo Central and Boiling Point. The parking lot is pretty awful. I passed by a few times before I successfully ordered a drink here, because they're so busy. The "new" hype problems. When I entered there was 2 kiosks to order but it was really disorderly and crowded. They had one staff member at the door but this girl was probably the most useless employee cause she didn't help customers with the kiosk and she didn't direct traffic and didn't give any recommendations. If anything, she just took up the space if she wasn't going to be helpful. I was extra annoyed because this rude customer who came after me cut in front of me, and the staff just stood there and did nothing. I even pointed it out to the staff and she just shrugged. By time I got to the kiosk, I just wanted to be quick since there was a line. I ordered a Taro Boba Fresh Milk Tea ($6.99) at 70% sugar. As I was clicking through quickly, I almost got tricked by this 18% default tip FOR A KIOSK. Excuse me... NO!! I had to go back to remove the tip from the ZERO SERVICE I received. It was soooooo busy, I decided to step outside and wait. It was so stuffy inside. To the credit of their behind the counter staff, they were all working quickly and diligently to crank out online and kiosk orders. When I got my drink... I actually liked it. Forgot to take a picture of my drink but I got the Taro Boba Fresh Mill Tea and it was good!!! The boba was especially tasty-- nice, sweet and chewy!! It's been a while since I had good boba! The milk tea aspect of the drink was solid!! There was taro paste swirled around the cup-- it only added texture not taste but it was still good! I got the coco boba cheese foam, six berry glow, pearl boba, cream cascade brulé boba, classic mango pomelo sago, and the whipped cream brulé boba. The six berry glow was light, fruity, and really refreshing. The pearl boba gave that classic chewy texture you expect. The cream cascade brulé boba and whipped cream brulé boba both felt more like dessert drinks with that rich caramelized flavor on top, definitely my favorites. The mango pomelo sago was also a standout, especially if you want something lighter and more refreshing. Service was quick and the shop itself was clean and cute. My wife wanted to try this when she heard one was opening up near us. The first time we tried going it was too crowded and we ended up leaving. The next time we thought of ordering ahead online... was that a mistake. Even after ordering ahead and when the app tells you that the order is ready, it's not. We still had to wait an hour after the app said it's ready for pickup and the employees just told us that they were working on orders ahead of ours. Either the app or the store is being mismanaged right now and it's to the detriment of their consumers. On top of that I thought that their drinks were just alright and the flavor kind of muted. I love the jasmine milk tea here! It's probably one of the best milk teas I've had hands down, basically comparable to Molly Tea in LA. It's perfectly sweet and the jasmine flavor is very strong. However, having to wait an hour for a drink every time is a lot. I know it's probably because the place is still fairly new, so hopefully the wait time will be better in a few months. I also tried the strawberry daifuku milk which has mochi and strawberry bits in it. This drink was just alright to me. The mochi was good and the drink was yummy, but I prefer the tea forward drinks. The taro boba milk was yummy but hard to drink because the taro paste would get stuck in the straw. She went to Baekjeong and finished dinner, and her drink still wasn't ready. Wild! I came on a Sunday night, around 8:40pm. There wasn't a long line, just one person in front of me to order at the kiosk. The ordering process was pretty straight forward. The tipping was set on default, so adjust if you don't want to pay a set amount. Even though there was barely a line, it still took over 25 minutes for my ONE drink to be ready. There was a staff calling out order numbers for pick up, and there was an electronic display on the drinks' progression. However, the staff never called my number, and the electronic display was confusing as well. It doesn't seem like they make drinks in order. Many customers after me got their drinks, and I was still waiting for mine. I finally went up to the counter and asked for my drink. It was just sitting there. Now onto the drink itself. I order a hot Golden Milk Tea. The drink itself was not even warm. It was room temp or just drink without ice. The tea tasted floral, which I didn't like. I didn't expect a Ceylon based black tea to be floral. Maybe it's the sweetener they use I'm not sure. The boba texture was okay, a little mushy. Second time visiting this place. The first time I tried their strawberry green fresh milk tea daifuku and the classic mango pomelo sago. The classic mango pomelo sago has to be my favorite! The strawberry drink was a 2/5 for me and I probably wouldn't order it again. On my second visit they were out of mango, so I couldn't get the classic mango drink. Instead I ordered the Grape Crystal Green Tea with cheese foam and the White Peach Oolong Tea. The grape drink was so good! There are two grape options on the menu, so make sure you order the one with the crystal. Service was pretty mid. It's a very busy spot, so be prepared for lines. They have two self-ordering kiosks which helps a bit. The ambiance inside is nice, but it's not really a place to sit and hang out. The chairs and tables are small, and when people are standing near the pickup area it can get pretty congested. They do have restrooms though, which is a nice plus. read more

It's a beverage brand battle... recently I tried Molly Tea (San Gabriel), Chagee (Westfield Century City) and Auntea Jenny (Irvine) to see which one was the best. Auntea Jenny first opened in Shanghai 13 years ago, and has rapidly expanded to over 11,000+ locations worldwide today. There are currently three cafes in the U.S., with more on the way. The Strawberry Green Fresh Milk Tea Daifuku was pleasant. Kind of like a drinkable dessert with sweet fruit flavors and the added mochi topping. Not very impressed with the White Peach Oolong Tea Latte, which was weak and watery. And the Brown Sugar Boba Fresh Milk Tea was also fairly disappointing; the texture of the tapioca had no chew to it and the flavor wasn't really anything special. I randomly saw this new boba tea shop in the Tokyo Central shopping center and had to see what it was all about. It's a small store with a few small tables inside but most of them were occupied by people waiting for drinks. On a Sunday evening there were a good amount of people but no line to order, so we decided to give it a try. Ordering is done either through a kiosk or you can scan a QR code with your phone. We ordered through the kiosk but ordering from your phone might be better because certain drinks weren't available on the kiosk for some reason, but after we ordered we saw that they were available. Their ordering system is frustrating because it doesn't give an accurate wait time and although the screen shows what order numbers are ready vs. being prepared, it's pointless. They need to do something to improve their system. I got the Grape Crystal Jasmine Tea Punch ($7.79) and I can't say it was worth the wait. It's nice that it came with tea jelly and crystal pearls, but the grape flavor wasn't good and the drink wasn't cold enough. I was so underwhelmed with my experience that I didn't even take a picture of my drink. If you haven't tried this place yet, I would wait awhile before you do. read more

Absolutely loved the grape crystal green tea punch here! Honestly better flavor than HeyTea's grape boom if you like that. My boyfriend ordered a taro mochi fresh milk tea and unfortunately his tasted a bit watered down and the tea flavor was very weak. The taro milk tea was nothing special so definitely recommend you stick to the fruit teas. The grape crystal green tea was amazing - super flavorful and not too sweet. Finally waited in the line for the new Auntea Jenny opening in Irvine. I've tried Auntea Jenny before in New York and loved it there so I had high hopes. I waited about 45 minutes total on a Monday. Despite around 30% of the menu being unavailable, such as the taro mochi milk tea I was excited to try, I would say the experience was still worth it and I'll be back at a less busy time when more of the options are not run out. I'm a sucker for glutinous rice topping in my milk tea and find it hard to get in Irvine, so I tried the red glutinous rice milk tea here and loved it! They give you a lot of rice topping so it's almost a meal in itself but no complaints here, it was perfectly sticky and complimented the milk tea well. The mango coconut punch I tried was good too, but I do believe I've had better similar blended mango drinks elsewhere, like at HeyTea or Hui Lau Shan. This is the second time I've come here, and I'm honestly surprised that nothing has improved. First, the self-ordering setup is very confusing. The way the kiosks are positioned makes it unclear where customers are supposed to stand or line up. I placed my order at 2:03 PM and didn't receive it until 2:33 PM. A 30-minute wait is simply not worth it for a boba place. The real issue here is the service, especially at the order pickup area. There was one staff member calling out the orders, and I was honestly amazed at how slow the process was. For a good 15 minutes, she was just wiping down drinks while several completed drinks were already sitting there waiting. No orders were being handed out, even though she could have easily called multiple orders during that time. On top of that, she looked visibly unhappy and almost disgusted with what she was doing. The main bottleneck seems to be the order calling. The drinks themselves are being made at a decent pace, but the process of handing them out is extremely slow. That's definitely where management should focus on improving. As for the drinks, the mango pomelo sago is the only one I actually like. However, since this is my second visit and the service hasn't improved at all, I'll most likely not be coming back. read more

I ordered the multigrain milk tea with boba. It sounded interesting but could not read the Chinese description, there was no English translation. After waiting a long time now in a chair, I got my drinks. I did like my drink but my other family members did not. It is nice idea to offer healthy drinks. They have a screen showing "Ready" and "In-Progress" order numbers, and it seems like the staff rely on that when customers ask about their order status. I ordered online, and nearly an hour later my number was still listed as "In-Progress." I asked a staff member if my order was ready, and they just looked at the screen and said no. Later I found out my drink had actually been sitting there ready the whole time, even though the screen still showed "In-Progress." Who knows how long it had been out. The inside is also extremely crowded, with limited seating and standing room. It felt like a lot of people were just standing around trying to figure out whether their order was actually ready. Staff didn't seem very proactive about helping customers either. They mostly stayed behind the counter unless someone directly called them over. Their fruit drinks are definitely better than their milk teas, so if you're trying here for the first time, I'd recommend their fruit drinks. The Mango Pomelo tasted more like a mango smoothie with Pomelo pulp, and the sago wasn't very noticeable. Overall a good solid mango drink, I got it 50% sweetness and it didn't taste bitter or tart at all. The Glutinous rice drink was okay. The milk tea again wasn't very strong in tea flavor, and most of the flavor actually came through from the glutinous rice itself. I wouldn't recommend anything less than 70% sweetness as it wasn't very sweet overall. If you wait a bit to drink the glutinous rice, it may also be a bit difficult to drink since the rice clumps up at the bottom. There still is a line up, but reading other reviews it really depends on when you show up. read more

Line outside didn't look insane, had maybe 10-15 people...so decided to wait. to order it took about 20-30 minutes which I was okay with. What I was NOT okay with, was it then took over an hour for the drinks to be ready. There wasn't any type of heads up, estimate, or anything for the wait. If I had known it would take that long for drinks to come out, wouldn't have ordered. The mango pomelo sago was pretty good but nothing mind blowing, other boba shops have similar drinks without the wait. Good selection of milk teas, fruit teas, and matcha, along with a few veggie-focused teas which are interesting. Drink cups and to-go bags are custom-designed, which I guess helps explain the higher price. Ambiance: 0.5/1. Cute themed decor, with a good number of chairs and tiny tables inside given the small space. The shop is in the same plaza as Tokyo Central and Boiling Point, among others, so parking unfortunately sucks. Service: 1/1. Order at the counter. There is a screen at the window that helps you keep track of your order if you're waiting outside. I went during the grand opening, so the wait to order and the wait for my drinks each took about 40 minutes, which I thought was reasonable based on the number of groups and drinks ahead of me. Probably the worst experience I had at a boba shop. I arrived around 1:20pm on a Thursday afternoon. There was a line but it kind of quick. At first I thought there were three screens to order but I realized of them showed the menu and there was really only one screen to order from. After placing my order, I ended up waiting about 45 minutes which was a really long time. I was waiting inside the store and noticed that there were only 4 people making drinks and they were very slow at making them. They also didn't call people's orders right away. In addition, people kept coming up asking when their order would be done, which shows they aren't very efficient making the drinks quickly. I also noticed they didn't send a text confirmation despite asking for a phone number which I wish they did because 1. I forgot my order number. 2. If I was waiting outside (which a lot of people were) and my order was done, I would like to get a text to notify its completion. They really only called the number and I had to go up to check and make sure it's my drink. I ordered the taro boba fresh milk tea and it was a good drink. I like that they use real taro. I'm not a fan of boba but the boba pearls were good. Despite the drink being good, the wait was not pleasant. i've been seeing this place literally everywhere on social media, so i had to try it out! i went on a wednesday around 5 pm, and it was sooo crowded, so do be prepared for a rather long wait after ordering your drink (my drink took about 1 hr to be made)! i would say ordering online, or ordering in person and then going to eat at one of the restaurants nearby or supermarkets, would probably be the best way to spend your time waiting. for my drinks, i tried the signature red glutinous rice fresh milk tea and the premium jasmine green tea latte (not pictured). i really liked the glutinous rice added to the fresh milk, but i wouldn't get this drink regularly because i feel like the milk tea base itself wasn't as flavorful in comparison to match the rice. however, where they really shined was with the jasmine green tea latte! even though waiting an hour for just a jasmine green tea latte sounds atrocious, it was so good and had a great balance of sweet and tea flavor. i would definitely get this again once the hype dies down and the wait isn't too bad! read more

I don't get the hype ...? The menu offers a decent variety of drinks, but some are hit or miss. I think that their fruit teas are pretty good, but you would definitely need to adjust the sweetness level to your preference. Additionally, the menu on their website may differ from the actual menu in the shop, so ask before ordering. Keep in mind that the drinks are not adjustable and do not allow substitutions. * Strawberry Crystal Green Tea Punch: 8/10 - good but recommend 50% sweetness * Mango Coconut Punch: 8/10 - just the right balance of both flavors * Premium Jasmine Green Tea Macchiato: 5/10 - bland and didn't have any flavor * Brown Sugar Boba (Topping): 9/10 - nice portion and chewiness The ordering process is also quite confusing. We wanted to add boba to all the drinks, but when you add a topping to a drink, their system adds it as a separate item on the receipt instead of combining it with the drink. Therefore, when we were confirming our order at the cashier, it looked like we ordered boba for all the drinks like we wanted, but it was actually just for one drink. Their prices are also a bit higher compared to other boba shops. Without adding any toppings, some drinks already cost almost $8, which is insane since the size is pretty average. Considering how many boba places are close by with slightly better prices, I probably wouldn't return if there wasn't a promotion going on. It's located in the newly remodeled Heritage Plaza, so parking should be relatively simple, but it can get crowded at peak times. The interior is also quite small, so it's not exactly ideal for hanging out in large groups. The workers were nice, but just not very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. It was our first time here, so we asked about what's in the drinks, but the cashier kept having to ask the other workers instead of being able to answer them on her own. I don't usually leave lower reviews, but I hope management sees this because the employees seemed like they could really use more support. I came in on a Tuesday night with no line and ordered right away at the kiosk, but it took about 37 minutes for my order number to be called. When I went to pick it up, I was told only one drink was ready and the second would take a few more minutes...it ended up being another 10 minutes before it was finished. The tea itself was really good, and I did enjoy the drinks, but I probably wouldn't come back if I was looking for a quick sweet treat. If you want to try Aunt Tea Jenny, I'd definitely recommend ordering ahead of time! read more
