Came here on a hot Tuesday and tried an iced winter melon drink with 3Q toppings (boba, coconut jelly, and bo-bo). Light ice, very low sugar. It was pretty good! We decided to order at the kiosk and it was pretty smooth. Drinks came out within 5min. It wasn't busy, which was surprising given the temperature and the hour (noon). But that parking lot gets packed and there are so many places to go there. The drink was very refreshing. Great flavor. Since wintermelon is so mild, the sweetness of the drink really came through. The boba was still nice and warm, which is what I like in my drinks. The coconut jelly and bo-bo had nice texture to it. I ordered the guanyin brulee milk tea online. The store is cashless and the service is average. More workers are needed because it takes a lot of time just for one drink to get made. The tea was only okay, and was quite pricey. I liked the brulee but slightly wished it was torched a bit more. I could not really taste the texture of the green tea jelly and the milk tea itself was also pretty average. There is seating outside but just one bench inside that people could also wait at. No public restroom, and tea bar/working area takes up most of the shop space. Drinks took quite a while to come out. I'm not sure if they're understaffed, but if definitely took some time for the drinks to be completed. We waited over 20 minutes, went up to ask about our order, and only 3/5 drinks were completed. I ordered the creme brulee TGY milk tea with tea jelly. It was good. I like how the teas are freshly brewed using what seems to be a teapresso machine. My friend liked hers as well and drank it sk quickly! My other friends ordered the King of Mango smoothie and they seemed to like it. Drinks are also a bit pricey. The inside was empty when we arrived. I ordered the King of Mango Smoothie after looking through Yelp, it seemed like it was the most popular drink. I was excited after seeing the review of fresh fruit in the drink! The drink definitely has fresh fruit in it, which is nice, but on the other side of the coin, the drink lacked a lot of flavor. The grapefruit was pretty sour and the mango wasn't sweet, despite my drink being at 100% sweetness. We also tried the Chi-Chi Strawberry Smoothie, which was a lot sweeter. If you're a strawberry lover, then you'll like this drink. The drink is fairly large, but it's pretty pricy compared to other shops in the area. read more

Stopped by for some drinks since I know how fresh Macu's fruit drinks are. They have a self ordering kiosk so it was convenient and there wasn't a line to order. The sad thing is they don't have reward points here that link to their other location in SGV. I ordered the King of Mango smoothie (8.75) less sugar. I was going to get something different but ended up back to my go-to order. Drink was ready in less than 10 minutes. The king of mango is as good as the other location I tried. The mango is fresh and not artificially sweet. The green tea jelly was also good and you can taste the tea. Very good! A bit pricey but it is the price of fresh fruit I guess. They have no seating inside, just a small bench. However, they do have outdoor seating so you can chill outside with your drink. Great boba spot! One of my favorites! read more

Macu Tea has become my go-to. I find that I don't really visit other bubble tea shops anymore because I prefer Macu Tea. No one does their fruit teas as well as Macu, using fresh fruit and making every drink on the spot. Their sweetness levels are consistent and I find 30% is the perfect sweetness for me. Tried Macutea recently and honestly had a pretty good experience overall. I ordered a bunch of drinks: chocolate tiramisu, King of Mango smoothie, chichi mango smoothie, TieGuan Yin oolong milk tea, and the Mango Orange Lili. The chocolate tiramisu was good not too strong, which I actually liked. The Lili cream on top added a nice extra flavor that balanced it out. The King of Mango smoothie is probably their #1 for a reason. It tastes really fresh and mango-forward, not artificial at all. Definitely my favorite out of everything I ordered. The chichi mango smoothie tasted very similar to the King of Mango (which makes sense), but with Lili cream on top. Still good, just a little more creamy because of that. TieGuan Yin oolong milk tea was okay. I've had better versions of TGYO from other places, but this one is still decent if you're craving it. The Mango Orange Lili was also good there's something a little different about the flavor, but in a good way. It's refreshing and not too heavy. Ordering was through a kiosk, which was pretty smooth. The place looked clean, and the staff were fast. There were about three people working when I came in, and you can tell they have a solid system because everything moved quickly. Been here twice in the last month; I have diabetes right now so been ordering drinks with 10% sugar which still come out pretty good. The tea in the lemon tea is still prominent unsweetened and not overly sour. My husband got the mango and strawberry smoothie drinks which were pretty good. If I could give more than five stars I would. Macu tea's king of mango smoothie is probably the best mango drink I've had in my life! Even better than Heytea or Auntea Jenny which are my go-tos. It comes with so many different toppings, and you can just tell it's made with so much fresh mango. Both mango and strawberry smoothies come in three variations: (1) King with grapefruit, coconut milk, green tea jelly (2) Bo-Bo with crystal boba (3) Chi-Chi with cheese foam. I like the tart contrast from grapefruit and selected the King Mango Smoothie. There only 1 size. The drink was very creamy, which I'm sure the coconut milk helped. I was able to get the green tea jelly on side so it would be non-caffeinated and children could drink it. I was a bit disappointed by the little amount of grapefruit pulp (or maybe it got blended in) and would want more. Green tea jelly very strong green tea flavor. It took a bit long to get our drinks compared to your typical boba shop, but I'd say the drinks were pretty good. I will say though, the drinks are pretty expensive here compared to any other location I typically go to, around $7-9 each. We got the Tieguanyin oolong milk tea and mango avocado drinks. The oolong was good, it was tea heavy which I don't find often around OC. I enjoyed it like that, as it was a nice change of pace and still tasted good. We also got the mango avocado drink, which was alright in my opinion, nothing to write home about. Overall, if you're by this part of Irvine and want something new and enjoy teas, I'd say it's good. It's just pretty overpriced in my opinion for drinks that are alright outside of their teas and milk teas. read more

You order through the two kiosks, and the workers quickly get out your order to you. We ordered the: -Bo-Bo Grape Smoothie ($8.25): This was so refreshing and I love the actual grape chunks. The bo-bo refers to the agar that's at the bottom. Make sure that you stir this drink so that it mixes well. I highly recommend this drink! -King of Mango Smoothie ($8.75): This has mango chunks, mango slush, grapefruit, coconut milk, and green tea jelly. I didn't realize they opened one here in OC. I have had tea from this place when I was visiting Taiwan. I was hoping to get the plum green tea (梅子綠茶) that I had in Taiwan but when I saw the menu I was a bit bummed it wasn't available. I was able to shift and ordered the Sunshine Li-Li Tea instead. Also ordered the brown sugar boba with milk for my son. The wait was a bit long as we found out that they ran out of boba. When we walked in no one greeted us and there were kiosks and a register you can order from. We ordered the Orange & Mango Li-Li Tea 50% sweet with coconut jelly and Bo-Bo Strawberry Smoothie. After ordering, there wasn't a big area to stand and wait. As more customers came in, it got overwhelming and I started to feel claustrophobic. Anyways, the Orange & Mango Li-Li Tea was so refreshing & good. I love how it's made with real fruits. If you don't like as much fruits or pulp, I would suggest to order at the register and asking them to adjust the pulp amount. I think ordering at 50% sweet was good enough where it didn't taste like water and it had the fruit flavor still. I would try to adjust it to 30% next time to be a bit healthier. The Bo-Bo Strawberry Smoothie was a bit sour and there were too much toppings. I've been to a few Macu locations in Vancouver this past year, so I was really excited when I learned there were a few locations in California! We got the Chi-Chi Mango Smoothie and Chi-Chi Grape Smoothie and they were phenomenal. The fruit in the smoothies tasted very fresh, and there were even mango and grape bits in their respective smoothies. The cheese foam is the right consistency and makes the drinks more creamy. I'm extremely frustrated with this place. I order a boba milk tea here regularly, and they keep forgetting to add the boba. This is not a one-time mistake it has happened multiple times. What makes it even worse is that when I try to call the store, nobody answers the phone. At this point, I honestly wonder if the phone number is just for decoration. The most frustrating part is when ordering hot drinks. Since you can't see through the cup, there's no way to check whether the boba is actually inside until after you leave. By then, it's too late. For a drink shop, forgetting a paid topping repeatedly is unacceptable. I hope management pays more attention to order accuracy and customer service because this keeps happening and is incredibly disappointing.
