I came here because the whole sushi-bagel fusion / crazy topping situation obviously caught my attention. I'm always down to try something over the top at least once, especially when it looks fun and different. First of all, parking was annoying. You have to go into the parking structure and it's tucked into a business park, so it's not exactly the easiest quick stop. Once we got there though, the staff was really nice and the bagels themselves were good. That said... these bagels get expensive fast. We only got two and split them, and even then it was a lot. They pile so much stuff on top that once you actually try to cut into it and eat it, everything is falling everywhere. It's one of those things that looks really cool, but is kind of a mess in real life. Flavor-wise, I liked it. It was good. But not "I need to come back and crave this again" good. For me, I think I prefer a bagel that's just a really solid bagel with a good smear, or something topped in a way that still feels easy to eat. This felt more like one of those giant burritos the size of your head -- fun to look at, but a little too much in execution. Ordered online and picked up on a Saturday afternoon - fast, easy, skipped the line and wait. I loved that they had games out in the grass area for people and kids to play with though. Definitely a way to keep occupied while waiting or after your eat. Got the Lox and KBBQ. Both were great innovative flavors for the toppings but the bagels fall short. Seems to be a Korean fusion bagel sandwich shop in an upscale business complex by the equinox. Parking is a bit tricky. You need to make sure you park at the structure closest to the shop to be able to get validation. If you go across where I happened to, it was couple of bucks per hour I believe. The menu has unique items like a kimchi bagel and interesting savory sandwich options. The worker told me the egg salad is one of the most popular so tried that along with the kbbq option. It's very filling so definitely shareable. Egg salad was pretty good and the furikake bagel it comes with is unique but it was a bit too much furikake for me. Kbbq was a bit too salty and messy to enjoy honestly but it wasn't bad taste. Other than that, I'm a bit disappointed in the bagels. To me, it's not a bagel. It doesn't have that same springy chew to it, so it definitely doesn't seem to be boiled before baking. Most likely just baked. But even baked bagels have a certain texture and taste? It was a little hard to find due to many of the business signages being harder to see against the building color, but we found it, woohoo! We ordered 2 lox bagels on everything, 1 asian chicken salad on everything, 1 pb&j on cinnamon raisin, and 1 pepperoni pizza bagel - Lox: as some reviewers have mentioned, the citrus cure seemed to overpower the lox flavor/left us wanting more prevalent smoked salmon flavor. Capers would've been a great garnish. Tomatoes were fresh and juicy, pickled onions add a punch - Asian Chicken Salad: chicken was cooked great (not over or rubbery at all!), we all shared this one and we all were wanting more allium flavors or maybe even more salt- cilantro, more onions diced in, more green onions diced in, would've REALLY made the flavors pop. 2 friends out us 4 ranked this the least favorite. - PB&J: the surprise winner, it was delicious and really hit the spot! Absolute game-changer for the OC bagel scene! I am completely obsessed with Rise Bagels. They are completely reinventing what a bagel can be. The hand-rolled dough is perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. I tried their viral Tokyo 7/11 egg salad bagel with a jammy egg, and it blew my mind! The flavor combinations are so creative and absolutely delicious --especially the KBBQ, the smash burger, and the strawberry bagel. I couldn't choose a favorite; I would honestly get them all again, and I also want to try the rest of their menu as well as their desserts! The ingredients are clearly super fresh and high-quality and the staff is beyond friendly, attentive, and wonderful. Do yourself a favor and get a guava drink or matcha drink too! Their menu specializes in small-batch, hand-rolled, boiled bagels baked fresh daily, with creative takes on cream cheese schmears (including ube, tom yum curry, yuzu, chili crisp and more!), as well as innovative, elevated bagel sandwiches. After so many people recommending this spot, we decided to go for a Saturday morning breakfast with our son. When we got there, we realized it's an office park but read some reviews and saw that the connecting parking structure validates for 1.5 hours. My husband got the breakfast sando while I went with the poke and both were amazing!! The poke was so fresh and bursting with different flavors and the breakfast sandwich was hearty and filling. This place is a little tucked away and I got lost a bit trying to get there. Once inside, its a small Place, with only a few tables inside and a couple outside. You order at the counter and they call your name when ready. I tried the egg salad, the lox, avocado toast, and pizza bagel. My favorite was the lox of course. Very classic. I wanted to like the egg salad. Was hoping that it was more like the Japanese egg Sando, but I think it was missing something. The avocado toast was also good, but was very plain in my opinion. Lox on an everything bagel: the lox was good, but it was way too citrusy for what a lox bagel should taste like. The citrus took over the entire bagel; the focus should be on the lox. They also skimped on the cream cheese. 2. Egg salad on bagel: the egg salad was nice and flavorful, but the soft boiled egg had zero flavor to it. The bagel was also very dry. You order at the register and then find a seat. With all the unique bagels on the menu, we ordered the KBBQ on a sesame bagel and the Pokémon on a furikake bagel. They were huge! The bagels tasted house made, slightly thinner and dense rather than fluffy. For bagels with this many toppings, it actually worked in their favor since it didn't feel too heavy. - KBBQ sandwich on sesame bagel: Very hearty and honestly reminded me more of a kimchi jjigae/stew than KBBQ. It didn't just have regular bulgogi or glazed meat inside, from what you'd expect. Even so, it still tasted delicious! - Poke open faced furikake bagel: The poke was so fresh, which surprised me! Paired with cucumbers and cream cheese, it was super refreshing. I would have never thought of this combo, but it worked really well. So you have to park in the parking structure and look for signs to Rise Bagel. I wasn't prepared for that. Very friendly. So many options to try but for 1 person, I decided on the Korean bbq sandwich for this visit on jalapeño cheddar bagel. It's freshly made for you so you will need to wait for it. I ended seeing their desserts and decided to try the carrot cake slice with no nuts. ($7). The lemon bar also looked good so maybe next time. My sandwich was beautifully made and I took it to their little lake area. It was very flavorful! The eggs were fluffy and I liked the flavor composition. Bagel spot with an Asian twist! I was so surprised at the different Asian/Pacific inspired sandwich and bagel flavor options! Ended up getting the 7/11 on an everything bagel and lox on a Furikake bagel. The egg salad in the 7/11 was so fluffy and not as heavy as I would've thought - RECOMMEND! All of their bagel flavors are quite unique and there was alot of thought put into each of their menu items. *There are no substitutions* I got the Farmer John and it was so refreshing and delicious; The sweet persimmons paired perfectly with the rich and tart cream cheese and then you get the herby brightness from the rau ram (vietnamese coriander) chimichurri. Unlike anything I've tasted before! I also tried the yuzu poppyseed snickerdoodle cookie and it was decent; slight crispy edges with a soft gooey center. It was very citrusy and sweet from both the cookie and icing on top as well. These bagels are def on the pricey side but I think it's totally worth it for the quality you are getting. Just tried Rise Bagels at BagelFest West (which they won!) and was so impressed with the chef driven concept and presentation of their open faced bagel sandwiches. The Japanese egg salad sando inspired bagel with jammy egg was delicious. Since I prefer savory, I was not expecting to love the fruit bagel so much but they had me at Harry's Berries. Everything worked so well with the cookie butter schmear and beet ganache. Also, the owner is so friendly. I wish this were closer to me but will definitely check them out if I'm in the area. read more
