Favorite bagel spot when coming back from LA. Closest to NY style bagels! Friendly atmosphere and good bagel options. Recommend t-street sandwich.

This is my favorite bagel spot in OC. The owner, Chad, is almost always there and he's always so friendly and welcoming. It's a great corner location with outdoor seating. The food and drinks come out quick and are always delicious.

Some mornings call for a toasted bagel with copious amounts of house made (whipped) cream cheese and a quiet stretch of uninterrupted time scrolling through news, memes, and random rabbit holes. Cue in Bagel Shack... and my phone. THE FOOD. - Jalapeño & Cheese Bagel. The crust is golden and slightly crisp, topped with melted cheddar and thin slices of jalapeño that add mild heat without being overwhelming. Inside, the bagel is dense, but soft and pleasantly chewy. - Sun-Dried Tomato Bagel. Studded with pieces of sun-dried tomato throughout, this bagel delivers a sweet and savory tang in every bite. - Sun-Dried Tomato Cream Cheese. Smooth and lightly whipped, this spread balances the tangy richness of sun-dried tomatoes with the mellow creaminess of cheese. THE VERDICT. Quality bagels with delicious flavored cream cheeses make it an easy decision to return!

Love supporting local small businesses! Bagel Shack's bagels are fresh and delicious, and somehow made very fast and HOT! Super kind staff as well. Highly recommend! Photo: the Cotton on everything bagel

Decided to try out a new bagel place and I'd have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm always looking for the best breakfast places in South OC, which I feel is extremely underrated as a food scene. There are so many local businesses that just make great food, and I'm glad to count The Bagel Shack among them. I'm a Bagels & Brew person since it's closer to me, but they make solid bagel sandwiches here, and I love how there's a great steak bagel option called Uppers, which makes for a hearty breakfast when you want something beyond the more basic options. It's still at a very fair price in this economy for a whole lot of food, which I'm always going to highlight. I'm definitely adding this place to my rotation when I'm looking for a great bagel sandwich, where it stands out among a pretty competitive scene of delicious, affordable options for breakfast. TIP: Jalapeño bagels are my favorite and great with the sandwich.

We love bagel shack and usually go to the one in San Clemente. This one isn't as good with their portions on the toppings. I've attached of the same thing from different locations. My bagel wasn't really toasted and it had very minimal avocado which is sucky! The line wasn't long yet when we got it but maybe they were backed up with orders.

There's nearly always a line so you know it's good. The bagels are tasty especially when toasted. The fresh squeezed OJ is perfect.

Most seating is indoors with a couple of outdoor tables too. I ordered a hot Spanish latte plus chose a blueberry jam muffin from the pastry case. And a Campfire Cookie as a bonus. The place was fairly full but I found a seat at a counter. The Spanish latte was superb with smooth coffee and cinnamon flavors that blended for a perfectly balanced profile. I appreciated it was at an immediately drinkable temperature. The muffin was really, really good. Really. It was moist, fresh, and full of blueberries and a layer of blueberry jam. The big cookie was quite good, although in all honesty I've had better in this genre. I didn't stay long as there was some annoying guy who'd set up office at a table with his AirPods firmly inserted and loudly giving legal advice in an obnoxious manner that is typical of ambulance-chaser lawyers. Why do coffee shops put up with this?

It's a simple, easy seat-yourself spot where you grab your own utensils and condiments. The food came out really fast--I even had time to use the restroom while we waited. My fiancé ordered the soufflé pancakes with fresh strawberries and their strawberry cream. They were jiggly and soft, and not too sweet. It was like biting into a cloud. I got the country fried steak, egg, and cheddar sandwich on a brioche bun with their home-fried potatoes. I was expecting a bit more, but the gravy really saved it. Pro tip: ask for extra gravy. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd love to try more of their menu. I'd recommend this place to anyone willing to give it a try.

We parked in the plaza with plenty of parking spots available on a Saturday morning. There was a line out the door the entire time. Ordering is placed before we're seated. Seating is limited inside. Plenty of tables available in the shared patio area. There were a few active birds picking at the food from unattended tables. Ordering took about 10-15 minutes. The food came out pretty fast. Despite dining at the restaurant, they didn't have reusable tableware. I'd assume because customers might accidentally throw them away. The soufflé pancakes didn't surprise me. I think I've had better, or due to the extreme heat, the berry sauce was slightly warm and melting. If you're a fan of breakfast burritos, the breakfast quesadilla is basically the same thing in a different shape. The standout was the avocado aioli dipping sauce. It's just as good as my favorite breakfast burrito place - Wake and Late. The potatoes were nicely seasoned with a variety of spices and crispy. I'm a fan. I'd recommend the breakfast quesadilla, but wouldn't drive out of my way to come here.

What else to say about Chaupain, except it's always exceptional?…read more I'm biased - but their pastries have got to be the best in OC. This is the 3rd Chaupain location I've been to, I happened to be in the area. It's smaller than the one on La Paz in LN to be sure, but ample size enough to provide anyone with full tastes of their amazing goods. I like everything - I've tried nearly all of their pastries and cakes, this time I tried the cinnamon roll- which was insanely good, soft, and tasted of such quality. Actually - never tried their quiche, which is certainly on a bucket list for next time. I highly recommend everything they have - but just to name a new, the guava cream cheese, cinnamon cream cheese, mixed berry bateau, opera cake, vanilla scone, any of their croissants, lemon tiramisu, and the jamon sandwich is incredible - I love that the bread had a chewy texture, which is perfect for this sandwich. Adding any of the American condiments would almost be a sacrilege, but a bit of dijon is good, which they have there in packets- the flavours work so well together. I really struggle to restrain myself when coming here, which necessary for your wallet and your waistline - but whatever you decided it's all good here.
