We grabbed the pumpkin concha due to being a season fall flavor and it definitely did not disappoint. The concha was a great balance of flavor, light and fluffy on each bite, as well as just being incredibly fresh. Additionally we picked up the Al pastor croissant and chorizo biscuit, which were also extremely fresh and flavorful. Every Friday after swimming, a friend and I stop in for matcha lattes and pastries, often joined by other swimmers. I also visit during the week, spending $20-$30 per visit. I've introduced 10-12 friends to this café, at least three of whom have become regular customers. My purchases alone represent approximately $1,300-$1,500 annually. Unfortunately, today's experience has me questioning whether I'll ever return. Two longtime female employees have always been friendly and accommodating. Since my matcha latte takes about 10 minutes to prepare, they routinely bring it to our table just outside. Although I don't normally tip for counter service, I always tip them for their extra effort. Today, a newer female employee rudely told me they don't deliver drinks outside. When I politely explained that the other employees always had, **she specifically instructed the male barista IN SPANISH not to bring my drink outside.** Apparently, she assumed we wouldn't understand. I'm a light-complexioned Hispanic, and my white friend speaks fluent Spanish. We both understood her instructions. Ten minutes later, the barista opened the door and announced my drink was ready inside, just four steps from our table. When I retrieved it, I directly told the woman that I always tip the other employees because they provide that extra courtesy, but **I would not be tipping today because of her rudeness and attitude.** Unfortunately, shared tips mean her behavior potentially affects other hardworking employees. What made this particularly disturbing was watching **that same woman subsequently walk outside carrying another customer's coffee!** Apparently, delivering drinks outside was acceptable for someone else. If you are looking for a bakery with fresh high quality pan dulce, this is your place. The bakery is nicely lit, very clean, and the staff is welcoming. The cafe de latte and chocolate abuelita latte were the best choices my friend and I could've gotten. They were the right amount of sweet. We also had so many yummy bread options to pick from, but we grabbed the guayaba pan and it was delicious! An adorable cafě place. Was in a mood for something different and pastries like and this popped up since was in the neighborhood. Parking are neither street parking (meter) or garage parking (pay of course). Upon walking, outside was couple tables & chairs along side of wall mural of baked goods (cute). Once inside, felt like I'm in a kitchen, smell great with all the baked goods and the coffee...infront is the open kitchen and the order desk and on the right side is a long hall with glass cabinets fill with all the adorable and yummy goodies baked goods. My second visit was two hours before they closed and I snagged the last one. It's buttery, crispy on the edges, with a soft middle, and topped with sea salt. Perfect balance of salty and sweet. I can't believe this place has been around for an entire year and I'm just now hearing about it. My husband wanted to bring me here, and I wasn't very hungry, so originally I wanted one tiny pastry. But the minute we walked in, it smelt amazing and the pastries looked so inviting, that we got 5 items, walked outside and immediately inhaled them. And I mean I blacked out I woofed them so fast. The drink was short on filling it up, the ice was light, she could have added more and at least tried to make them look full. The cold foam was minimal and then she dumped the cinnamon on top. This place is just.....fine. So when you first walk in you cannot deny how beautiful it is. Esthetically it is soooo beautiful. I love the concept of it all. The employees are friendly and it's nice seeing the bread makers working. Now when you really sit down and think about their product.....it's just okay. A lovely addition to the outstanding Cafe Cultura, this tiny bakery produces a relatively small selection, but the quality here exceeds anything I've had. When you walk up to the counter and the dough is being rolled and shaped for baking only a few feet away there's no doubt that it is prepared fresh with much care and talent. Pan y Cafe is around the corner from Cafe Cultura, its sister establishment. When I stumbled upon Pan y Cafe I had no idea they were related. I was about to go to the coffee shop across the street and was attracted to PyC by their colorful outdoor mural. I walked in and there was a short line at the register. I could smell the tantalizing aroma of fresh baked pan dulce. I was immediately greeting by a very nice lady behind the counter. After I grabbed my pan dulce from the beautiful spotlight display cabinets (made me feel like I was shopping at a luxury boutique), the same lady helped me take my coffee order. I got a matcha concha, chocolate concha, iced Cafe de Olla and Abuelita Latte with oat milk. Both my friend and I loved our concha's and coffee. Personally, I had the Abuelita Latte and it definitely tasted like the famous Mexican hot chocolate. The reason for my 4 stars is because my Abuelita Latte needed some more caffeine. We came during our lunch break and it was a clean and empty bakery. They only had 4 savory pastry options but a fair amount of sweet options. Unfortunately all the savory options contained pork/lard so one of us was unable to try any. The chocolate croissant was not bad. The jalapeño cheese bolillo was not very good, it felt pretty plain. The concha was light and airy. The Al Pastor croissant was cold and not flaky; the flavor would have been nice if it was toasted. The chorizo biscuit was nothing special tbh. Their saving grace was that the horchata latte and the abuelita latte; they were good. They did not warm up any of our pastries and we think that it would have totally changed our experience if they were warmed up. Also the trays are not washed in between customers so it can be difficult for customers with allergies and food restrictions!!! Also they charge a 3% service charge for cards!!! Their teleras are the best I've had! They remind me so much of my hometown in Michoacán. They stay incredibly fluffy and soft, even after a couple of days. Highly recommend! I've also seen a lot of comments about the prices. As someone who believes in supporting small businesses, I think it's important to remember that you're supporting a small Mexican-owned business making its way into communities and spaces where we belong. And honestly, some of you will gladly spend more at large corporations on bakery items that are frozen and pre-packaged around the corner.
