Breakfast burritos, birria grilled cheese, Spanish latte, biscoff latte, and banana latte

I'm surprised this place isn't more popular!! My friends and I went for OC restaurant week deal and it was such a steal. Service was quick and we got our food and lattes in about 10 minutes! We go the breakfast burrito and birria grilled cheese with a banana latte, biscoff cookie butter latte, and a Spanish latte. The burrito/grilled cheese + latte deal was only $15!! There was also a salsa bar with different toppings as well and we loveddd the pineapple salsa. Moving on to the food...the breakfast burritos were soo good. The tots were crispy, tortilla was soft and chewy, and it was properly filled. The birria grilled cheese was also so flavorful and not dry at all! The lattes were good as well with a strong coffee flavor and not too sweet. I do wish the biscoff flavor was stronger in the cookie butter latte though. Overall, 10/10 would go back!! Chocoflan latte

This place is awesome! Loved the food I tried the el pastor chilaquiles. For drinks I tried the chocoflan latte. Service was great. Overall a place I will definitely come try again.

Customer service was great, honestly everyone inside was super kind, and I also liked how the employees checked in with us as well and offered to answer my questions on the menu items. I got the El Guerrero iced, it was delicious, a little bit more in the sweeter side but overall delicious. My boyfriend got a hot La Parka which he got with a slice of chocoflan, he said the flan was really sweet and overall delicious , he said the drink was pretty good too, it did not disappoint. The drink had even flavors between the expresso and the flan which was nice, neither overpowered each other. The ambiance was nice as well, I like the lighting inside it's not super bright nor super dark either, a lot of indoor seating and the theme of the cafe was cool it was based off Mexican Luchadores! 10/10 , I'll be back!

Absolutely loved this place. The customer service was outstanding from the moment I walked in friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The coffee was excellent, clearly made with care and high-quality beans, and easily one of the best cups I've had in a while.

Chocoflan latte and honey strawberry matcha

Recently came here and got the chocoflan latte which I highly recommend! Drink was delicious and you also get a dessert as an added bonus. My friend got the strawberry matcha which she enjoyed as well. Service was amazing! Shout out to Nayeli for the kind costumer service and the recommendations as it was my first time here. Definitely coming back!

We had the chilaquiles verdes, menudo, side of fries, kids strawberry cheesecake combo. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. It was so good in fact that we decided to add a stuffed dulce de leche French toast that we saw on the menu earlier. I was blown away. I love that it was salty and just sweet enough. It was the best thing I tried. But the the best part of the whole experience was Alma, our server! We didn't even notice we came in hour before closing, and when we did we apologized and she was so kind and told us not to worry and to enjoy our food. She was the last server there and was juggling multiple tables but still managed to be extremely attentive to us. She is so kind and has a great personality. Thank you for everything, Alma! Also big shout out to the kitchen for not closing before the restaurant! They let us add our French toast about 20 mins before closing, which is really unheard of in the restaurant culture of "last calls" 30 minutes before. I loved this place!

The room was getting progressively hotter so we asked if the AC was on and a server casually told us the AC was "on the fritz." We had spent months planning this event and this was incredibly disappointing. Even before the guests arrived, I noticed the cupcakes and macarons I had brought in melting from the extreme heat. All the guests were noticeably and understandably uncomfortable and sweating the entire 3 hours. No one came to check on us or to apologize for the inconvenience. This was not the event we had envisioned for the guest of honor who was 8 months pregnant. It was not only uncomfortable but also posed a health risk. The restaurant showed a lack of concern, care and accountability over the entire situation. I understand that the weather and the AC breaking were out of anyone's control but the handling of the situation and the aftermath was poor. We tried to give the restaurant opportunities to make this right but they failed at every opportunity. Because of the lack of communication, poor decision making and incompetency, I cannot recommend this restaurant for any events. The servers were nice and the food was all right but there are many other acceptable options for food in the area.

The high ceilings, rustic exposed brick, and massive bar setup make for an electric atmosphere when it's packed out with a rowdy crowd. Even when they're slammed for game days, the kitchen holds its own. The duck fat fries are pretty much mandatory for the table--super crispy, well-seasoned, and easy to pick at while drinking. Their empanadas, lumpia, and burgers are also solid, easy crowd-pleasers to pair with a huge craft beer list or one of their whiskey cocktails. Because the energy is so high during watch parties, service can understandably take a little longer than a normal quiet lunch, but the staff handles the game-day rush really well and keeps the drinks flowing. Parking in downtown Santa Ana can be hit-or-miss with meters, but slipping into the Sycamore parking structure right across the street saves you from driving in circles. If you're looking for a dependable gastropub with great food that actually knows how to throw a hype watch party, Chapter One is hard to beat.
