Taco truck (Sep 2025)
Luke L.

*** Cash only *** Tacos Manuel is a taco truck in Santa Ana and it was ranked #20 on Yelp's Top 100 Places to Eat in 2017. The address indicated the truck is located on E 17th St, but it is actually located on Mabury St (adjacent to the Superior Grocers plaza) instead. [Parking]: Easy and free street parking or I just parked at the Superior Grocers plaza & walked to the food truck. [Menu]: For taco, carne asada is the most reviewed protein. Tripa is only available on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday while carnitas is only available on Saturday and Sunday. Mild salsa, spicy salsa, grilled onions, and jalapenos available upon request. *** Asada, Al pastor, and carnitas tacos ($2 each): These are double layered tortilla tacos. Asada was a bit dry and carnitas was meh, but asada actually tasted great with excellent seasoning and grilled onion took it to the next level. Mild salsa was mediocre, but spicy salsa was pretty decent. *** I would recommend to double-down on asada taco with extra grilled onions.

Vampiros

First time trying out vampiros and it was amazing. I got the Al pastor and I highly recommend that meat for the vampiros. Glad I tried it out here near Disneyland. Very affordable food and left here full. The torta was good. The service was typical and the food would be called out so be ready. The place is a little older, but the food is amazing. The place is in a corner next to a supermarket with lots of seating.

Lengua burrito .... Disappointment

Stumbled upon this spot due to good reviews but I was wrong. Ordered a lengua burrito and al pastor torta. My burrito had no rice in it and it had shredded lettuce and cheese. Also the tortilla is very doughy and thick, not the traditional Mexican style tortilla. It tastes like I'm eating at Del Taco. Extremely underwhelming and disappointed. I am writing this review as I'm waiting for my DoorDash order from Taco Gavilan. Please skip this spot if you want some authentic burrito.

Tacos Manuel is a food truck near the corner of 17th and Mabury in Santa Ana. The truck is parked along the street with street parking surrounding it. We ordered the asada tacos ($2 each), al pastor tacos ($2 each), and the asada quesadilla ($9). I liked the asada a lot and thought it had a lot more flavor than the al pastor. The quesadilla was good with good portions of meat and cheese. Our meal came with three salsas and I really liked the avocado salsa. It was my favorite and it was delicious! I wish I could've gotten more of those so I could smother everything with it. You can ask for grilled onions and jalapeños on request and the former was delicious with both the tacos and quesadilla. Unfortunately there was no place to sit or eat; there's a park within walking distance from the food truck or you can eat in your car. Note that they allow card but probably includes a fee which is why they recommend using cash.

Was not expecting this to be a food truck on the side of the road! Ordered several tacos, a burrito, and a torta... and everything was delicious and reasonably priced ($2/tacos). The tacos came with delicious grilled onions and jalapeños too! They have limited drink options (only regular coke and horchata), so just get drinks from El Pollo Loco nearby if you want something different Tacos Manuel is really giving our other favorite taco place in Santa Ana some competition (Taqueria el Zamorano).

4 Al pastor tacos with grilled onions and jalapeño (must get!!!)

Honestly, this taco shop is a hidden gem! They're parked right behind a small shopping center and isn't super flashy with bright signs or anything. The staff is always quick and efficient. Their prices are good too. $2 for tacos and $9 for burritos! They come with grilled onions and jalapeños, but make sure you ask for it! Their al pastor and carne asada cuts weren't dry and flavorful. Tacos also come with onion and cilantro on top. They also have a variety of salsas, green, red, and creamy avocado. The red one is spicy. They have some agua frescas as well. I've been coming almost weekly since I've discovered this spot.

TDLR: It's the most protein packed burrito that I've ever had at a respectable price. Worth the visit if you're close by. Very good lunch option. Asada burrito: It's one of the better asada burritos that I've had. It's a bit salty at time but the grilled onions help tone back the saltiness. Al pastor burrito: Salty meat with a sweet marinade. I'm not big on pork but I oddly liked this better than the asada. Grilled onions weren't needed to balance any taste but it's still appreciated as a different element in the meal. Service: It's a taco truck. The transaction was pretty straightforward Ambiance: It's a taco truck in Sta. Ana, there is no ambiance to speak of.

Yum.

Delicious, reasonably priced street style tacos. I crushed a few Carne Asada, Al pastor and the other one. Mmmmm delicioso! Cash only starting 4/1/25. Ladies were sweet and helpful. Grilled onions and sauce were great too.

Al Pastor Tacos

I ordered 4 al pastor tacos and got the grilled onions and jalapeño on the side. There was no wait when I arrived. Since it's a food truck, there aren't any tables, but we found a spot to sit on the nearby wall and it worked out just fine. The tacos were solid, but honestly, I come mostly for the grilled onions.

Does this restaurant offer taco Tuesday promotions? If so, what would the price be for each taco and what meats are available? Thank you.?

No they don't. The have a paper posted for all day taco Tuesday for $1 but they charge you regular price. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Where are you today? No one at the usual Mabury spot. So sad😭

Hi sorry we are closed on Mondays:/

Anyone ever use them for catering? Looking for a taco guy to come to my house for a kid's birthday party but they won't answer their phone.

I have! Leave a voicemail, maybe text. They bring all the fixings and I got to choose 3 meats. We had plenty of delicious leftovers.

Looking for at 1638 but actually nothing there? Where is the location? Tks

It's directly behind superior market on 17th street. If you find the market, you'll see it behind. I don't think they are there at night tho.… Read more

I saw you guys at the Costco in Irvine, off Technology dr. Are you guys usually there? or was it just a one time thing?

They were probably just enjoying a hot dog and drink for a buck fifty!

Do you close in between lunch and dinner? I just stopped by and the lady said you will reopen at 5:30.

Hi I'm sorry , normally they close at 3 but our meet guy was running late so we had to close a lil late I'm sorry .

Are there items on your menu that are lard-free?

Yes , you can ask for the tortillas with no lard . Chicken and stake are lard free .

Does this taco truck take debit /credit cards?

Danny .Hi how are you ? I hope you're good . Let me start off with explaining it's not legal or illegal to charge a fee if you go to an ATM machine there's a charge of $2.50 I believe so if not more wether you pull out $20 or $300 . Believe me… Read more

Thanks to Restaurant Week, we stumbled upon this gem, and we are so grateful. The hospitality alone would earn five stars. But then came the food. The tacos? Absolutely exceptional. The steak was tender and flavorful in a way that reminded me of eating throughout Mexico, you could actually taste the meat. A light, gentle pickle of vegetables on top, minimal cheese, nothing heavy or greasy. These are not the American-style tacos drowning in a pound of melted cheese. These are the real thing. The beans were lovely, the rice was solid, and my passion fruit winearita drink was genuinely a treat. Restaurant Week gave us the perfect low-pressure reason to try somewhere new, and we walked out with a new favorite. We'll be back for lunch. We'll be back for dinner. And yes, Taco Tuesday, we'll absolutely be back for that.

It is next to a gas station. It looks like a pretty popular place during the lunch hour. It's a smaller place inside, but they do have an outdoor patio. We were able to find a small table, not too far from the front counter. Ordering at the front was easy. The staff was friendly and quick. We could see the cook grilling up the meats as we placed our order. There were at least five different salsas to choose from as well as cucumbers and a chili oil at the self-serve salsa bar. I noticed a customer in front of us ordered a kids plate which included two street tacos and rice and beans. That's what I ended up ordering with Carne Asada and chorizo. There were four or five proteins to choose from for the kids plate. I loved the grilled meats with the char flavor. It was delicious! Everything was well seasoned.
