This pink taco truck located in front of a Northgate market has been a main stay in Santa Ana for a very long time. The menu contains a good variety of meats and food items. It looks like it could get pretty busy, but the line was very efficient and the people are very friendly here. The vibe here is definitely a fun mix of people looking for delicious tacos as well as some folks getting off of work and just trying to get a convenient meal on the way home. I think they're most known for their "battleship" taco, but during my visit I end up getting the surtido taco. This taco was a great mix that had a bunch of different textures and flavors from the different cuts, while being topped with sautéed onion and cactus. I will definitely have to order the battleship taco it next time I'm here. I came here later at night, so the market was already closed and there was plenty of parking around. read more

We ordered 4 quesadillas de hongos (mushrooms) maybe they don't sound appetizing but man they are tasty. Definitely recommend, you get a side of nopalitos (marinated cactus) which makes it even better. Just fyi quesadillas are big, one will do. We placed order over phone because place tends to get busy. When we picked up order was ready. It's a food truck so not many places to hangout and eat but sometimes there's chairs and I think even people bring their own. Overall worth it. Amazing taco truck nestled in front of a Mexican supermarket. No matter what you get it won't disappoint. They have great quality ingredients and delicious condiments to accompany the tacos. The staff is friendly and welcoming so you won't have trouble ordering. *They don't have seating so be prepared to eat standing or in the back of your car. My friend suggested we try this place last week and I have to say it was a great find. The truck is bright pink/purple so you cannot miss it. It is parked next to the Northgate market, which you can use but do park further away from the main rows away from their customers. If it does get busy then there is plenty of street parking. Now, onto the food. You may not be able to see it, but there are two tacos under the layer of radish and cactus. I was trying to figure out if it was grilled peppers instead, but someone next to me told me it is really cactus. I ate a piece while waiting for my friend to get his tacos, and yeap, delicious cactus. I had a late lunch so I only ordered a cabeza and a tripa taco, with a long neck bottle Coke. If you did not know, Mexican Coke uses real cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup, and it comes in a glass bottle. People debated whether if it is the cane sugar or glass that makes MexiCoke taste better. I prefer MexiCoke because I like the taste vs. regular Coke, but can decide on that yourself. Both my tacos came out with everything on it, and I suggest you do the same unless you have some sort of food allergy. I only added a little lime and small amounts of the green salsa because I did not want to overwhelm these tacos on my first time. The cabeza was juicy and flavorful on all 3 bites, and the tripas was nice and crispy on 4 bites. Yes, I took 4 bites because I wanted to savor it in smaller chunks. Every melded together nicely in my belly as I washed it down with my cold MexiCoke. I am definitely coming back to this place to try different ones, but the next time it will be 4+ tacos because....well....I like good food. read more

I truly don't understand why this is so high rated given that there are so many places in this town that have food that is just as good, if not better. First off, you can tell the quality of the meat is crap. God knows where they got it from, but none of the cuts I ordered resembled what they claimed to be. And then, they are loaded, soaked in oily fat- which to be honest, probably adds to the flavor, but it is just too heavy and almost disgusting. It's definitely my most favorite tacos truck in Orange County. I used to do vegetarian diet for a short period of time. When I was introduced to this place, I just randomly asked if they had any vegan option and they offered me mushroom tacos. I love that they actually saute their mushroom the same way they do with their meat tacos so the mushroom is tasty and flavorful still. I also tried their other tacos but always went back to the mushroom ones. It's that good. I tried mushroom tacos at this one place and they put raw mushroom in the tacos with some sauce on top wth. This is a very well-known food truck and also easy recognizable due to the bright pink and purple colors. Their menu is extensive, also a bit confusing, but you really can't go wrong with anything you order here. The pastor was fantastic, not a huge fan of the Milanese, but the tacos, mulitas and alambres were outstanding. There are no menu prices which is a bit odd but most items around six dollars, tacos around three dollars. Cash only, there is an ATM in the supermarket in the same parking lot. It does get busy, but they are very efficient and food is ready fairly quickly. I highly recommend it if you're looking for tasty, filling and flavorful authentic Mexican food! read more

Decided to give this place a try after having a family member recommend. I think we just might have different taco taste buds. I really wanted to love the tacos but they are just " okay". The carne asada meat was more the very dry side. The pastor meat had to many spices in my opinion and too chopped up, looked more like chorizo. On a positive note they had good pickled carrots, fresh lemons, and they serve the tacos with grilled onions and nopales ( grilled cactus). I've been here multiple times. Today for the first time I tried the quesadilla de hongos and a taco de tripas it was very good. The tripas were toasted and tasted great. My bf got a mulita de al pastor and it taste great. He also got a gordita de surtido and it had an amazing mix of carnitas, buche and cueritos. They were great portions. Discovering this place from a customer who loves it, I gave it a try and first impression before enjoying the food was the RESPECT and recognition from the owner that every customer they receive, the top man was there to inform me of the menu and their sauces that they offer. At the time i went in, it was Friday around 2PM and truly there was only a few minute wait and a great location for a food truck with lots of parking around. Now to the most important part, the food and firstly, I had choose to try the Cubano Torta and man is it filling. This taco truck is easy to find. The service is super friendly and helpful. You can tell that they're a part if the neighborhood, the way they know folks walking by or stopping by. Drawn to the oaxacan cheese, I ordered a quesadilla. They only have one size, large, and it comes with sour cream, lettuce and tomato sprinkled with cotija cheese and a lot if grilled onions on the side. For being handmade, the tortilla didnt really have any taste and i think it could have been cooked better with more oil on the grill. The cheese was tasty but sparse as not every bite had melted cheese... I also ordered a taco acordazo/battleship. It was loaded with rice, steak milanesa, grilled onions, grilled nopales/cactus, and a couple tomatoes and three bites of avocado. The tortilla in this was much better, much tastier! The rice was really good and had bits of carrots and peas in it. The meat itself was tasty, the parts I could eat much of it was on the burnt side unfortunately. Everything together with the salsa was pretty good but you do need to add salsa for flavor and so its not super dry. It came with a grilled jalapeño, which I did not try. If the onions were more grilled and the meat was less burned, i can see how this would be an outstanding dish. There's nowhere to eat except standing outside so advise to take to go or join the regulars and just eat there while its hoy and fresh. I ate in my car nearby. I enjoy eating at this food truck in front of Northgate supermarket. I've been here 6 times and it never fails me. The portion and quality of meats are great and fresh. I even started to like the catus garnish along with thick cuts of grilled onions. I get the steak alambre with the cheese. It's is better than the pork version which is just cut grilled ham. There's no bacon which would have been better. There enough for 2 meals or for 2 people to share. Really good Mexican food! Eat like you're in Mexico. Look for the big pink truck. read more

The Taco Acorazado, $7, features a heaping of grilled thinly sliced marinated steak, grilled nopales (cactus paddles) grilled onions and chili peppers, sliced tomatoes, avocado slices and cotija cheese with a savory scented rice on a delicious handmade tortilla that is twice the thickness of most store bought varieties. A tasty full meal layered on a tortilla instead of a plate. What could be better than that? The grilled meat, onions and vegetables gave off an aroma and taste similar to fajitas. It is certainly tasty and worthy of all the accolades. If you are going to order anything here, get this "Battleship" Taco. Now, best dish in the OC? Not quite. 4.5 stars for me. I ate cacti from a pink taco truck with a name that I cannot pronounce or spell. The pink taco truck parks itself in front of the Northgate Market on the corner of Cubbon Street and Main Street in Santa Ana. They are famous for their Taco Acorazado, or Battleship Taco. It takes about 10 minutes for them to cook the Battleship Taco. The battleship came with a fresh handmade corn tortilla. In the taco is a bed of rice, milanesa, avocado, tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, and cactus. Sprinkled on the Taco Acorazado was cotilja cheese. After receiving the taco, I quickly drove it back to the office to eat. The taco is not a normal sized taco, where you need three of them to fill you up. One will do the job. Their battleship is as good as described. The cacti? The cacti tasted good, especially with some salsa. While waiting for my Battleship, one of the customers told me that their carne asada tacos were very good as well. Their tacos also take about 10 minutes to make as well. The cook their own tortillas when you order the taco. Their tacos come with cilantro, onions, and more cacti. The carne asada is seasoned well and cooked to perfection. I liked their carne asada taco more than their Acorazado taco. I also had an opportunity to try a tripas taco. Their tripas are fried until they are golden brown and crunchy. It is also a winner here. The pink taco truck that serves cacti with a name I cannot pronounce is a pretty good place for a quick lunch. It is pretty close to the office. Just found my new favorite taco spot. It is the bomb. diggity. Ordered a carne asada and pastor tacos, and also got the taco acorazado ("battleship"). Even after sitting in tin foil for 40 minutes while making the drive back home, the carne asada and pastor meat were still moist and flavorful. I definitely recommend trying the meat before dumping the salsa on, just to savor it. The asada was a bit salty (in a good way) and juicy. The acorazado was amazing. It was huge: thick tortilla on the bottom, with tomato flavored rice, barbecued beef, chiles, tomatoes, avocados and cotija cheese. I had to eat this with a fork. The rice was my favorite part of the acorazado, because the tomato flavor was smooth and not overpowering, and paired well with the barbecued beef. And for you spicy food lovers, the green salsa is legit! But my favorite was the red salsa, which I felt combined flavor and heat best. Will be back again! read more
