My favorite menu was actually the tacos! It's a bit pricy but the size is plentiful.

Came here during lunch and ordered my usual, the fish burrito. I was a little stunned that the prices have gone up yet again (paid a little over $17 including tax), but the burrito was huge and I packed half of it to-go to eat later. The fish was super crispy and hot, and the burrito was delicious. Definitely one of my favorite spots to eat for lunch when I want something quick and yummy. Side note, my friend got the Cali fries with asada and said it was just okay. I took a bite and also felt like it was lacking. I'd stick to their burritos if you choose to eat here. As you can see I've been a regular here quite a while, and have a love-hate relationship with CT. When they do a great job, as they mostly do, all is good, but like many small local businesses they really have no mechanism or, as far as I can discern, desire to deal with customer feedback and make right when there's an issue. Yesterday was what you could call a double flagrant foul. I called in an order for 2 burritos. I arrived a few minutes later, paid and took my receipt with me to a seat near the counter. And so I wait, and wait, and wait. Maybe I was too patient, but I respect that it was busy and likely had a few orders ahead of me. That's 25 minutes turned into 30 minutes. I just decided to see how long they could go without calling me up to the counter. So finally 40 minutes after I placed my order it's the point of which I decided to go up and inquire and of course there it was sitting there, and I told them that I have been sitting at a nearby chair, not very far from the counter and caused me to wonder OK maybe they called my number and I didn't answer so they wonder why a single person has been sitting there near the counter with no food for half an hour I don't know anyway after 40 minutes. I finally got the food and left. You would hope that would be the end of the story but, alas, my sorry tale is not yet finished. As it turned out my practice of eating the Monarch Burrito in thirds turned out to be potentially injury, preventing as I took my third of a burrito and settled down to eat as I opened up my third of a burrito something odd was sticking out. It had an odd color though. Maybe it was a stray pepper or an onion, but it turned out that... There was a METAL WIRE inside a red plastic covering. Happy the wire had no chance to cut the inside of my mouth before I discovered if. I'll spare the boring details of the next several minutes, what's the price to say while I did eventually get my money back for this particular burrito it was a parent that here like many other small local businesses employees are not empowered to truly make things right and make an effort to truly apologize and went back loyalty of the customer. I understand it was an intentional and certainly a very rare occurrence, but despite that I feel that it should be a lesson for businesses and no matter how large or small but when these things happen, it really helps to treat a customer right because bad news always spreads quicker than good news and it's always harder to get a new customer than to retain a longtime existing customer. Am I going to completely ditch Cali Tacos? No, probably not as I have other family members who like this place even more than I do, but I just hope that someone's listening. read more

I didn't believe the reviews that said they jacked up their prices ever since they went viral. My family has frequented this spot a few times over the past year but haven't been back in a few months. They recommended I check them out because I can get a huge burrito for $15. And my family are big eaters so I know they were talking about a fully loaded burrito for $15. As of may 27 expect to pay $30 for a fully loaded angel burrito. Insane given that I could go to a nice restaurant for the same amount. Came here for lunch with my friends on Friday for the first time and loved the food we ordered... They have inside and outside seating. You order at the counter and then they call your name for you to pick up your order. They have a salsa bar that has green and red salsa and pickled carrots.. All of us enjoyed our food.. It's a little on the pricier side but well worth it because their portions are huge and I was able to only eat half of my burrito and then the other half the next day. Cali tacos always hits the spot. Our favorite thing to get is the Angel Burrito with carne asada. Often times we order ahead on the phone, and pay with credit card once we get there. The burrito itself used to be only $16 but now the price has shot up to around $20 which makes it a bit less value than it used to be, but it is still very good to eat. We like to get it cut in half to share between the both of us, and even still that half of a burrito is two meals worth for me. You can get two types of salsa (red and green), along with their signature Cali Sauce, that is tasty no matter what. They also have self-serve pickled carrots/onion/peppers and I really enjoy their onions the most out of the three options. The restaurant has an indoor and a small outdoor seating area, and is very casual. The service is quick and great especially if you take the time to order beforehand, and even if you don't it only takes about 15 minutes or so for the kitchen to make your food. I prefer the Santa Ana location in comparison to the Orange location as I feel that the Cali Tacos in Orange gives you a slightly smaller angel burrito even though they are the same price. read more

Spacious indoor seating area, but we prefer taking it to go! We share an angel burrito with chicken and we add beans, so good! They have a salsa bar which has a green and red salsa and the carrots. They'll ask you at the register if you want Cali sauce (the answer is always yes), and how many. The angel burrito comes with Cali sauce inside already, but you can always use more! Their soda machine has a weird taste though, so that knocks a star down for me. Carnitas Supreme Burrito is an absolutely amazing meal that's savory and has great textures. Chicken and carne asada Supreme Burritos were ok. I appreciated that Cali Tacos' Supreme Burrito doesn't have rice or fries in it. I do love that they're also a bit creamy due to the sour cream, guac, and shredded cheese inside. Honestly, these don't even need Cali Sauce because they're satisfying on their own, but Cali Sauce definitely adds a delicious zing. The sheer size of these burritos make it worth your money; half of one is filling enough when I'm hungry after work. A Supreme Burrito is about $15, and I believe there's an additional charge for carne asada. Breakfast burrito with ham and bacon were super salty and yummy. The fish burrito had chopped cabbage and pico de gallo, and it was decent. Both of these went very well with Cali Sauce, though I'd wouldn't get the fish burrito again since it's not as flavorful as the others. These costed slightly less than a Supreme Burrito and were nearly as massive. Parking lot is small, but I usually am able to find a spot during the work week. Seating is available inside, and it's a no-frills casual spot that's easy for solo lunching. Massive burrito! If you're looking a big portion Mexican spot, this is it. We shared the California burrito which was massive. It lasted us a few days. Obviously it's best when it's fresh. For some reason it's really hard to find good carne asada fries in OC but this place serves some of the better ones as well as huge burritos. The original location is in Orange but this one is bigger and has more indoor seating. They also have cute taco art on the wall. The menu is pretty straightforward with burritos, tacos, quesadillas, nachos and fries with your choice of meat. They weren't too busy on a weekday afternoon so it took maybe 10 min. for our food to be ready. Of course we had to get the Cali Fries ($17.45) and because we were feeling extra gluttonous we also got a Supreme Burrito ($14.99) and Bean & Cheese Burrito ($8.99). The Cali Fries are smothered with cheese, sour cream and guacamole just the way I like them. The price has gone up though and I don't like that they charge $0.85 more for carne asada. The Supreme burrito had a lot of pollo asada along with cheese, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce and pico. It's definitely big enough to share. Their Bean & Cheese burrito is decent and has a lot of cheese. Don't forget to ask for their Cali sauce. It's a smokey, creamy sauce that goes great with everything. Also visit their salsa bar for the green sauce. It's a cilantro salsa with just the right amount of kick. Definitely prefer this location to the one on Orange, and it's the same great Cali Tacos that you know and love. One of these days I want to explore the not-so-secret menu, but the Cali Burrito is a classic, which I always get without guacamole or sour cream because I don't like those textures in my burrito and the flavors of the adobada pop so much more in my opinion. It's great service, and you'll get your food pretty fast, so no complaints there. The one downside as of late is that the parking situation is kind of a mess at the moment, so it does make it sort of inconvenient, and the roads there are kind of chaotic. Don't forget the Cali Sauce, which they will offer, and unfortunately never provide enough of, but you can supplement it with their salsa bar. It's the only thing that comes close to the San Jose orange sauces for those who know. TIP: Cali Burrito is a reliable option always. read more

This is the largest burrito I have ever seen. It's a good price for how much food you get. This is the Angel Burrito which comes with shrimp and your choice of meet, I chose asada. It's a saucey burrito which I like, but it also is fries. I'm not a big fan of having fries in my burrito. I guess I should order it without fries. But it's a decent burrito and fun to eat because it will probably be the biggest you've ever seen too. It's pretty good and you will have leftovers. Never had french fries in my burrito - was skeptical but after a few promptings from my friends I gave in. We love picking up food from here whenever we have a craving for a burrito or fries. On this particular day, the young lady who helped me was very friendly and kind. She was the nicest person I've encountered at this location. I think her name started with an M. Thank you for being so pleasant. We usually get the Carne Asada Cali burrito, Cali fries, either with chicken or Carne Asada (huge portions and usually last us another meal or two). We get it with the guacamole on the side and it usually crisps up well in the air fryer. I also enjoy the fish taco. One fish taco is usually enough for me since it is loaded with fish and cabbage. We also get the rolled tacos sometimes which is filled with shredded beef and topped with melted cheese. We asked for the guacamole on the side so that we can heat it up later if needed. Visited OC for the day and had to stop by one of my favorite burrito spots from college. When I say the Angel burrito is the size of a grown man's forearm I mean it (Picture for proof). Not only are the portions massive, the food is actually delicious too. Kinda pricy but you get your money's worth. This location had lots of indoor seating and barely any wait. I was really hoping to enjoy this place, my son had given it great reviews. We were in the area and dropped in on a Friday night. It was busy but we walked right up to the counter. He ordered a cali burrito w/ adobada. First bummer, they sell rolled taquitos, but you can only get shredded beef, even though they have chicken on the menu. So I decided to get a chicken quesadilla, I figured what could go wrong, that seems pretty safe. It took a while to get our order, there were a couple of customers that came in after us that got their order before us. Eventually, our number was called....The portion sizes are big, the cali burrito was good, 7/10. My dissapointment was with the chicken quesadilla. Although large, it was overloaded with chicken to the point where it was inedible. It overwhelmed the cheese. I tried to take out some of the chicken, but it was just too much. After taking just one bite, I brought this to the attention of the male staff member at the register, and asked if I could just get a plain quesadilla. A female staff member approached my table, and to my surprise she brought back the same chicken quesadilla I had just returned to the counter. She asked what was wrong with it, I said the flavor was good, but I just couldn't eat it because it has too much chicken (I couldn't believe my own ears saying this, but please see the photos). I was being careful not to offend them, however, I could tell by this point it was an issue. I said just forget it, I can take this home. I'm good. She proceeded to leave with my receipt and eventually returned telling me the manager said they cannot make a new quesadilla, and that next time I need to ask for light chicken. I responded by saying it was my first time there, and again said, it's fine, we will take the chicken quesadilla home, my son will eat it. I was over it. We packed up and left. I'm giving this place a 1-star not because of their limited customization, slow service, but because of the manager response. Their solution that I needed to speak up next time and ask for a modification implies that it was my fault. Blaming the customer is the final reason that lead to this 1-star review. There was no flexibility or interest in trying to retain a customer over the cost of a tortilla and some cheese. I wasn't asking for a refund, I just wanted a plain quesadilla. It became an issue, when it could've been a quick fix. We will not be returning at any point in the future. Aside from Cali Taco, I don't know any establishment that won't offer a refund or an alternative if the customer is not satisfied with their meal. It's just a good practice. Huge disappointment. (Also, I understood by the end of my visit why they don't offer chicken taquitos, they serve it all in their chicken quesadillas.) read more

Cali Burrito: It's one of the better chicken burritos that I've had. The protein was tender, juicy, and completed the ensemble that was designed to be paired with carne asada. Cali Tacos is located on a small corner lot in Orange. It started in San Diego, moved north, and now has multiple locations across Southern California. This location in Santa Ana is in a plaza with a small parking lot and has both indoor and outdoor seating. SUPREME FRIES ($15.99) - I got this without beans and with carne asada (+$0.65). There were large portions of meat and the other stuff on top that I had to dig through it to find the layer of fries on the bottom. I liked that the pico cut through the heaviness of the other toppings. 4.5/5 THE CALI ($12.25) - this is their California burrito and I got it with al pastor. It was a good burrito although the oil from the al pastor eventually leaked through the tortilla and got all over the exterior. 4/5 They have a sauce station that has their green and red sauces, and when they give you your order they also give you their Cali sauce. I've always heard the California burrito is one of the best in OC and both of what I got were pretty good. read more
