Everything we got was very delicious! The tlayuda tipical was huge and the meats had a nice smoky flavor. The bean paste and the crunchy tostada went well with everything. The shrimp entree had a really addicting creamy sauce. The rice was fluffy and the beans were yummy. I wish there was a bit more shrimp or they used jumbo shrimp since they were quite small. Each plate was about $20, so a little pricy but we went home with leftovers
I ordered the mole w/chicken. The mole was exceptional--I cleaned the plate. Because it was early in the morning, I asked for eggs and the server was willing to substitute 1 chicken piece for scrambled eggs! Their rice was jasmine flavored, and very fragrant. Was a good contrast with the heavy mole.
Service was fast and friendly for a weekday dinner! Ordered the La Tiayuda Tipica - huge tostada almost like a pizza covered in beans oaxaca cheese and 3 meats, 4/5 honestly the tostada itself was really good, but the 3 meats on top were okay, a bit dry and almost out of place. You could get it with or without the meats. Enmoladas - 4/5 - the mole here is amazing! I could drink a bowl of their mole. It has a hint of sweetness, not super bitter, and a bit earthy? Overall, it was great! I'll come back just to order more mole dishes.
An Honest review about the food. $60 for 2 people 2 beverages and 2 meals But first...This place has a gorgeous atmosphere, truly 5 stars for charm, décor, and overall ambiance. If you're looking for a lovely setting to catch up with friends or enjoy a quiet date, it's absolutely worth a visit for the surrounding. But food is ok. It doesn't have the homemade feel. It doesn't match the energy. I had high hopes, especially for the mole. As a chef and a regular at Restaurant Mary's off Main (where abuelitas are behind the simmering pots), I've been spoiled by deeply stewed, slow-loved mole. Unfortunately, the mole here felt rushed--more surface-level in flavor, and paired with a very mature, fibrous chicken that lacked tenderness. I give it a 2 out of 10. The chile relleno looked beautiful on the plate, but the flavor didn't quite deliver. Presentation was a 10, execution a 3. Service was kind, but considering we were the only guests, I expected more attentiveness. I give it a 3. Lastly, a heads-up: they use artificial dyes in their drinks (including red dye), which is something I personally avoid for health reasons. Final thought: Come for the atmosphere, take lots of pictures, but manage your expectations when it comes to the mole and relleno. Again, I eat mole from scratch so I'm very spoiled with homemade Mexican food.
If you're craving authentic Oaxacan-style Mexican food, this is the spot! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The mole enchiladas were rich and flavorful, the guacamole was fresh and perfectly made, and the potato and chorizo appetizer was straight . Every bite was packed with authentic flavors, and we can't wait to come back. Highly recommend if you're looking for an incredible Oaxacan dining experience!
This place is amazing. Not only the best mole I've ever had (I'm not Mexican but I love mole and so will you if you come here), everything else was also amazing. The mole negro was perfectly balanced; just the correct hint of chocolate and just slightly sweet with all the other complex flavors you'd expect from a good mole. Mole coloradito was also very good. The chicken that came with the mole was cooked perfectly; tender and juicy. The rice was flavorful and not an after thought. The tortilla was homemade and fresh. I think this is my new favorite Mexican/Oaxaca restaurant and will be going back often. And service was very good too.
The place was almost full when I arrived and waited to be seated and ultimately was pointed to an open spot by another customer. Took a bit for the waitress to bring a menu and take my drink order. The place is a typical home style diner where mostly locals frequent. I ordered the Plato Flor de Oaxaca which is a sampler plate with various items from their menu. It was a bit bland and could have used more seasoning but was plentiful. All in all a good experience.
Small place with great food. Service is quick and helpful. Small wait time if there's a line outside. Parking can get tricky.
We had excellent mole here. Small shop with about 9 tables. Tried Amarillo and black mole with chicken. The hand made corn tortillas were delicate & tasty. Everything was like home made. The Amarillo is not my favorite - first time I tried it, resembles curry for me. LOVE the black mole. I agree with other reviews, pretty sweet. Service was good. They were very busy, Monday at 5 pm. Seems like locals like this spot. The ambiance was Oaxacan for sure. Clean and friendly staff.

I had this place bookmarked for ages! The flavors were all amazing and there is a ton of variety. I had the Flor de Oaxaca and while I enjoyed it, the meat portions were small and just ok. The mole was incredible and I would order that again in a heartbeat. My wife had camarones de ajo (garlic shrimp) and it was good. We had the nopales appetizer and I thought it was pretty bland. If you like nopales, maybe you'll think differently. The service was fantastic and this place is a small gem located in Santa Ana. The parking lots is cramped and there were some shady characters in the lot. I'll be back and work my way through the menu and update this review.
Going to an event at the Bowers so thought we would try something in the area. It's a small restaurant in a strip mall but service was prompt and pleasant. We tried the Delicias de Oaxaca platter loaded with different filled masa items and dried beef, marinated pork, chorizo and chicharron. There were also terrific red and green salsas and complementary chips with mole and cotija cheese. I also ordered the nopales salad and had to try the chapulinas, well just because. Ended with a warming cup of slightly sweetened and spiced cafe de olla which was just perfect.
If you want a little taste of Oaxaca without leaving Santa Ana, Flor de Oaxaca is the move. We ordered a platter that basically said, "Why choose one thing when you can eat EVERYTHING?" It came with memelas, quesadillas, tasajo, chorizo, chicken taquitos/flautas, and everything was delicious. The mole though... SO good. They even bring you chips with mole to start, which should honestly be dangerous because I could've filled up on that alone. Their red salsa is SPICY .. the kind where your mouth says "stop" but your hand keeps going back for more. We also tried the agua de jamaica and maracuyá, both really refreshing and really good. What made the experience even better was the people. Everyone was incredibly kind, and there's such a warm Oaxacan, family-style feeling to the restaurant. You can feel the love in the food. Definitely coming back. Come hungry... and maybe emotionally prepare yourself for that red salsa. ESPAÑOL: Si quieren probar un pedacito de Oaxaca sin salir de Santa Ana, tienen que venir a Flor de Oaxaca. Pedimos un platillo que básicamente decía: "¿Para qué escoger una sola cosa si podemos probar TODO?" Traía memelas, quesadillas, tasajo, chorizo, taquitos/flautas de pollo y todo estaba delicioso. Pero el mole... otro nivel. Desde que llegas te sirven chips con mole y, sinceramente, con eso ya me podían haber conquistado. La salsa roja también está BRAVA de esas que enchilan sabroso y uno dice "ya no más"... mientras agarra otro chip. También probamos el agua de jamaica y la de maracuyá, las dos muy ricas y refrescantes. Y aparte de la comida, la gente es súper amable. Se siente ese ambiente cálido, muy oaxaqueño y familiar. We stopped by Flor de Oaxaca for a Friday night dinner. It's a very small, family-run spot with just a few tables, which gives it a cozy, personal feel. They had live music playing while we ate, which added a really nice touch to the overall ambiance. For dinner, we ordered an enchilada dish, another entrée, and some horchata. They have a variety of traditional Oaxacan dishes on the menu, including mole. Taste-wise, the food wasn't amazing or standout for me personally, but it was decent. The horchata was also just okay--nothing spectacular, but it paired fine with the meal. While the food itself didn't entirely blow me away, the service was very good and the family running it is lovely. The chips and spicy salsa they bring out were also so good, and the enchiladas verdes were really tasty too. On top of the food being great, the service was super nice and friendly. Enchiladas were 20.99 over priced. Cheese was not melted at all and cold. Kids did not like them but was starving so ate it anyways. Sauce and rice was good though. Customer service not the best today. read more

Amazing authentic food estilo Oaxaqueño! Mole is so good, fish is fresh, pozole verde was amazing! We came on a Sunday afternoon and spent nearly 3 hours enjoying handmade tortillas drinks de agave and mezcal are good! All of us really enjoyed our food and keep in mind it's small and they gets busy. read more
Amazing food. I was hankering for some mole and felt fortunate to find this place. I appreciated the complimentary chips, and the taste was as amazing as its presentation. We savored the "especiales" at this small, colorful Mexican café - a nice change from the typical Mexican American entrees. My enmoladas -- dark mole covered chicken enchiladas were rich and delicious. My husband couldn't finish his pizza-sized Tlayuda Al Gusto, a large fried tortilla made with refried beans topped with cabbage, avocado, a slice of fried pork and chewy shredded cheese. My passion fruit drink was rimmed with chili powder, was sweet and refreshing. I loved the mole sauce that came with the chips. Service was a bit slow but worth the wait for the special meals. read more

Service is so warm, welcoming and friendly. It feels as if you're visiting a family member's home for dinner. Thankfully my gf can read Spanish because the menu is all in Spanish which was cool because it just makes it that much more authentic. I tried the torta and asked for Chicken instead of beef and I added cheese to it. Oh man it was so delicious I had pollo a la plancha and it went perfectly in the torta. I also tried the tres Leches and it was very good as well. I loved the inside music and decor it felt like I was visiting a family gathering. Must try this place if you're in the mood for some delicious food. read more

This place brings nostalgic home memories. When craving to taste from our Mixtec home food. I ordered a chocolate with a pan de yema even though in the mid of a heat advisory tasted so good. I also got Plato Oaxaca? It was a platter with all finger foods it was great size and portion for 2 people that can be shared. The only thing was the molotes they are like empanadas filled with potatoe and Oaxaca chorizo but the chorizo taste was a bit bland not as flavorful but I still enjoyed it. Also the green enchiladas were tasty!!! Highly recommend it. read more

Was craving authentic Mexican food and found this gem of a spot on Yelp. The food and selection looked amazing on Yelp so came by to try it out right away! The location is within a plaza and the store itself is on the smaller scale with a cozy, intimate setting. Our order was: (1) Plato Flor de Oaxaca (1) Delicias de Oaxaca (1) La Tlayuda Tipica The food was amazing! Definitely will be coming back again! I ordered a Michelada for a drink and it was probably one of my favorite ones I've tried, has a rich and full flavor! The service is great as well!
