We saw this spot while running errands. I checked it on Yelp and saw they were Dog Friendly which was perfect since we had our two pups with us. I'm a sucker for a cobb salad, and saw they had one on their menu, so I had to order. It was definitely shareable! I'd probably rate it at about 7 out of 10. The chopped deli meat and cheese was mild, and the other toppings were ok. I wasn't a big fan of their blue cheese dressing but their balsamic dressing was ok. Just happened to be in the area and stopped by this place for lunch. There was no one waiting in line when I arrived. It's a small, quaint shop that serves sandwiches, burritos, salads, etc. It seems like the chorizo burrito was really popular so I got that. It is decently good, a little on the drier side though. A small cup of salsa is included with it which helps with the dryness. Other than that, I couldn't help but notice the size. Definitely had leftovers for dinner as well. Overall just okay. I ordered the Mediterranean bowl and was so grossed out by the amount of olives and red onion that I had to pick out - usually I don't mind a few but this was ridiculous. I happened to come across this place by luck! It's near my office and had no idea I love that it has outside seating/patio. It was pretty cleaned: the chairs and tables were clean. Music was paying outside by very low which I liked ! You walk in and order and pay before you grab a table and sit. The staff is young and very courteous, and attentive. I ordered a dirty chai latte and it was hot and delicious I just wished I had ordered the larger size I also got 2 pastries, a chorizo breakfast burrito (it was very cheesy which I loved) and the avocado toast. This is kind of a weird review because I have to review two separate locations in the same space. I've driven by here several times and checked out the bakery online, but the large pizza banners is what brought me in. But while I'm here, you know (if you read my reviews), I'm going to try that maple bar! When you go in, think of it as a food court. The bakery is one store, the pizza place another, even though they share the same feel and kitchen. I ordered my slice of pizza first and was told she had to ring up the Maple Bar at the other register, which is where we also paid for drinks. There was only one person working the counters (it was a slow Monday mid-afternoon), and she was very friendly and nice, and seemed to understand the setup was weird without saying it, so 5 stars for her. The slice of pizza was sent back to the kitchen to be heated up, and I got my maple bar and a Diet Coke from the other register while I waited for the pizza. After I got home and ate the slice of pizza, I went for the maple bar. And like the pizza, it was just OK. It looked nice and thick, but maybe it had been sitting out too long, because the outside was tougher than I liked. The dough had very little flavor, so all I really tasted was the maple. The maple was also a little stiff and not as creamy as I prefer. If I return, it will be to try some of their other food, which looks really good. read more

This location of Rose Bakery Cafe recently opened a couple of months ago. They're located in a shopping center with tons of parking. They have inside and outside seating. I stopped by recently to get some breakfast to go. The staff member taking my order was very nice and courteous as she entered my order. I believe her name was Brissia. I got an orange juice, a chai tea latte, and a California burrito on the sundried tomato tortilla. I switched the hashbrowns in the burrito for their breakfast potatoes and asked for it to be cut in half, so I can share it. The order was ready in less than ten minutes. The burrito was brought out first and then the drinks followed shortly after. The burrito was a good size and perfect to share. The bacon was thick and crispy. I liked their red salsita. It wasn't spicy but has a nice flavor. The orange juice was fresh and the chai tea latte had the right amount of sweetness. Overall, a good experience and will be stopping by again when I'm in the area. read more

I love the donuts and cold brew from Rose's. I used to frequent at the Corona Del Mar location and was so excited that they opened one up in Orange. The cold brew is under $5. I'd seen this place had recently opened and finally had a chance to try it out. Rose is located in a huge plaza with plenty of parking, and they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. They allow for kiosk or in-person ordering as well. Service was nice, everyone was helpful and friendly. I got some old fashioned donuts and a breakfast burrito. The donuts were great, super fresh and tasty. The breakfast burrito was solid, definitely a "no-frills", simple burrito. I also got a cold brew, but that was pretty basic and watered down unfortunately. For a quick breakfast spot that's fresh and tasty, this is a great place to check out. Not a big deal breaker, but it would definitely bring more attention to the place. Now, for the selections on the menu they have a great variety to choose from between breakfast and lunch-- at a reasonable price. I stopped by and decided to get the "Lucio Omelet" which included a choice of bread, potatoes or hash brown, and the omelet that included bacon, white egg, avocado. I wasn't too happy with my meal, for starters everything just tasted cold, with my choice of bread I would've liked some butter on the side. The omelet was a decent size but no flavor--no salt or pepper. I thought the salsa was going to be at least a nice little kick but I felt like I was tasting store brand generic salsa. first thing first walking in the place is super clean and very well kept. There was music playing and t wasn't loud. It's just a perfect amount. We also order one coffee, one smoothie. The bagels were full of flavored, and they were perfectly crunchy on the outside unsolved in the middle. The salmon was perfect. We went here when they first opened in this location and thought it was just so so. Today we decided to try it again since the first visit was probably when they had some logistics to work out. Well - it was worse this time. First off - very silly that the menu board is constantly flashing to other items, and then has some obnoxious highlight that moves around from item to item. It takes longer to figure out what you want when the board changes. We decide on a patty melt sandwich and a Caesar salad. The gal at the register keeps telling me she can do a salad but it's a green salad. I say no, I prefer the Caesar. Finally she says I have to order at the other register. Oh brother, she literally completes my order (with that 'smallest' tip amount being 20% on the screen - go for the custom and do the amount you want!) Then I have to walk over to the other counter/register and order my salad - why? You all share a space. kitchen and employees - share a register for goodness sake! I am glad there wasn't a crowd waiting behind me - as this is very inefficient. My salad came out way before my husband's sandwich - not enough dressing (she brought more at no charge at least) - decent size but too much for the bowl, so mixing in the dressing made a huge mess. Dressing was not good. Sandwich finally arrives (same employee delivers it) and it's toasted bread, two burger patties, and sorta melted cheddar like cheese. We door dashed our food so we didn't see inside or talk to anyone. We got the stack of pancakes, steak and egg bagel, chorizo burrito and meat lovers skillet with scrambled eggs. Pancakes were really good, they were so fluffy, I loved how the butter was added on instead of in a container separately so the butter melted on the way to us. The steak bagel was our favorite we chose the jalapeño bagel as the bread option. We would. I added bell peppers, onions and tomatoes to the Chorizo burrito and chose regular potatoes to go inside but, it was okay not a lot or any flavor from the chorizo. I stumbled across this cafe for a late lunch. I grabbed a couple slices of pizza, one Hawaiian and one hot pepper. Surprisingly, the pizza was really good. I say surprisingly because they have donuts, smoothies, burgers, etc. Taste reminded me of Little Caesars back in the1990s in Detroit back when the cheese was real and the pizzas came in a 2 pack in the paper packaging. Happy this places opened up in Orange and finally got to try it out this morning. Went in for breakfast and ordered the Rose Benedict with Orange Juice; came out to around $24. Service was good! The girl at the register was friendly and was very helpful. They have free water out in the patio area. Place is dog friendly as they also had a water bowl filled with water which was nice of them. Clean environment and play music outside. Eggs Benedict were simple but surprisingly filling. The potatoes on the other hand were mid. The fruit cup was a nice touch so it balanced out! Live down the street so was excited to try out both Rose Bakery and Laventina's after it opened. Rose Bakery is decent. Mainly picked up baked goods like donuts and danishes. The prices are steeper than a family owned donut shop, but it tasted alright! Good, but not amazing. Workers were kind and weren't super informed on what was being sold since the place just opened. Whatever, giving them some grace. I did learn that after 3PM all baked goods are 50% off. I'd say more worth it during that time. For the Laventina's side, service was also alright. I got the vibe that the people working didn't care? The pizza quality is pretty low. Comparable to maybe iKea or Knotts cause Costco pizza is even better than what they have. One slice is $4 for cheese or pep. At the price and quality, i'd rather get a whole pie from Costco. I also noticed prices on the POS is higher than advertised on the menu. I couldn't figure why it wasn't adding up to menu prices, and didn't bother asking since everyone was care-free. Not worth the hassle. All and all, Rose i'd go back for just for the convenience. Laventina's is a pass. Newport might be a better bet for quality and service according to other reviews. read more

I was so excited for Rose bakery and Café to open closer to my house. They used to love going to the one in Corona Del Mar. But unfortunately I think this location doesn't have the same charm that they're from Del Mar location has. The CDM location is very quaint and feels a bit more homey. This location has a bit too much technology for my taste, there's a screen where you can order your food without talking to someone, large TV screens (which I believe the Corona Del Mar version has now as well if I'm remembering correctly) and just an overall bland and boring vibe. We ordered the grilled chicken wrap and it was nothing to write home about. I feel like there's a lot of opportunity for this location to do well considering there are tons of apartments going up right there and I right next to Baja fish tacos which is incredibly busy all the time. I think maybe their prices are a bit too high for this area and maybe people don't have the same connection to the café as others who have lived in the Newport area have. With old town Orange a very short drive away, I just think there are a lot better options. read more

I placed and online order this morning. Unfortunately I realized I sent my order to the wrong location while already at the restaurant. I had accidentally sent it to the Corona Del Mar location and I live closest to Orange. When I arrived at the restaurant I did not yet know that I was not at the right restaurant. Luckily, store manager Alma was working. She was so kind and offered a solution. She called the Corona Del Mar location to confirm my order and remade it so that I wouldn't have to drive so far away.
